What happens when you attend Focus Louisville? One of your fellow attendees will harvest your contact information from an attendee list and then send you a letter of solicitation on behalf of their employer’s mayoral race:

That letter will come in an unmarked envelope with no notation that it’s paid for by a candidate or another individual.

You’ll also end up on email distribution lists you never signed up for.

If David Tandy and his crew want to be the next mayoral administration, they’re going to need to get something through their heads: You cannot harvest contact information from completely non-political organizations and spam the hell out of people with emails and financial solicitations. It’s inappropriate. It’s unethical. For it to continually happen, it becomes illegal. And it’s definitely amateur.

Now that David is within reach of front-runner status, this crap has to stop. (Not to mention he needs to start distancing himself from Jerry Abramson, needs to stop flip-flopping and needs to begin differentiating himself from the rest of the field…)

The 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of the three peace officers/dispatchers who were axed by J-town mayor Clay Foreman.

Click here (Warning: External PDF Link) for the order.

The court reversed the dismissal of an earlier whistleblower suit filed by the three Jeffersontown employees after retaliatory actions were taken against them when they reported multiple instances of mismanagement and abuse.

Police Officer Melvin Kindle and Dispatchers Diedra Handy and Brad Silveria seem to be quite pleased. “I am so relieved that the appeals court reversed the decision. It has been a long, hard three years for each of us. I am hoping that the City of Jeffersontown and Mayor Clay Foreman will do the right thing, to help move towards closure,” said Handy.

And you thought all the drama in J-town was over, dear reader! Ha!

Just snagged Jim King’s first television commercial that will begin airing this Wednesday and I must say, he’s taking a MAJOR risk:

I think that risk is going to work.

Owning your mistakes works in political campaigns.

UPDATE: To all of you whiny ass titty babies out there who are flipping out that I got my hands on this ad… why not try developing sources and working them once in a while? You can complain that I got my hands on it… but guess what? The King Campaign is pissed at me for getting it and asked me not to run it before they released it.

This is no longer Jerry’s Land. This is government. There are no secrets. There are no favorites. Complaining that some “half-assed little blogger” (based on the comments you’ve emailed me) got it before you shows just how lazy you are.

Additional thoughts… What is it with unethical “journalists” who feel the need to trash colleagues behind the scenes because they got something first? Maybe they should consider revealing that they have lived rent-free in an apartment owned by a candidate for well over a year in exchange for positive press. You’d think folks like that would take ethics into consideration if they really want to keep the job they so desperately need. This isn’t a game of “fairness” and you aren’t automatically entitled to anything unless you’re working to get at a story. Goodness. People need to calm down.

In case you missed it, check out the latest (first) SurveyUSA polling data on the mayoral race. [The 'Ville Voice]

A good way to win over the progressives: Maybe the governor could consider banning Atrazine. It’s a poison made by Syngenta, the title sponsor of a recent farm and tractor show here in the city. [HuffPo]

And here’s the Courier-Journal’s story on it all. The poll truly is a name ID piece. [C-J]

Time to ditch your car. Car-free happy hour is tomorrow from 5:30 to 8:00. [Consuming Louisville]

Republican candidate for Congress, Larry Hausman, will hold a press conference to talk about some stuff as he opens his headquarters today at 11:30 A.M. At the corner of Shelbyville and Hurstbourne. [Press Release]

This is how Jim Gooch is ruining the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a shill for king coal. The fact that Steve Beshear and the Kentucky Democratic Party have allowed this buffoon to go unchallenged is just as bad. [H-L]

Some folks running for mayor and some others working for Jerry Abramson say crime isn’t an issue in Louisville. But some people, like Metro Councilcritter Dan Johnson, get it. He’s allocating $10,000 to assist LMPD Divisions 3, 4 and 6 in an effort to combat a recent flurry of thefts in Beechmonth and Iroquois. From the press release: “We have found that extra funding is needed to allow officers to get a handle on problem areas when crime increases from time to time,” said Johnson. “This funding will allow more officers overtime to patrol some areas where we have seen a recent increase of thefts and break-ins.” [Press Release]

You know I don’t agree with the Courier-Journal editorial board often: but take note. This horse shiz of using children as pawns in Frankfort has got to stop. Greg Stumbo should be ashamed and the rest of the legislature should be immediately repenting. [C-J]
