<p>You doubt yourself,</p>
<p>it&#8217;s easy to do.</p>
<p>Second guessing can become second nature&#8230;</p>
<p>For if things are not as we like, who are we to blame?</p>
<p>Looking in the mirror is all too easy.</p>

<p>There is another way&#8230;</p>
<p>a better way (I do so believe).</p>
<p>And that is simply to just be.</p>
<p>Judgement and critcism from self (and others if that may be the case) can</p>
<p>be put to rest.</p>
<p>You don&#8217;t have to be the best according to any set standards out there&#8230;</p>
<p>For you already are the best</p>
<p>just as you are.</p>

<p>Making time and space for silence in our daily lives is essential.</p>
<p>What does silence do for us?</p>
<p>Here are a few benefits of silence:</p>
<p>1. It calms our mind and nervous system</p>
<p>2. It helps us to slow down</p>
<p>3. It helps us to become more aware of our surroundings and what is going on inside of us.</p>
<p>4. It puts us in the NOW.</p>
<p>5. It connects us to our higher power </p>
<p>6. It recharges us</p>
<p>7. If we are stuck, in a rut, or need clarification about something, a bit of silence may be all we need to to have what we need surface when we need it.</p>
<p>8. It centers us. As a result of being emotionally balanced we will make better decisions, feel less stress, and react less emotionally to life&#8217;s circumstances.</p>

<p>Yes, silence is essential. How do we make time and space for it in our busy daily lives?</p>
<p>Here are a few ideas:</p>
<p>1. Take walks (without your music). Walk in the morning, during your lunch hour, or in the evening.</p>
<p>2. Limit television in your household</p>
<p>3. Sit outside when you can</p>
<p>4. Have a designated quiet room or space for meditation in your house. Train family members to not disturb you when you are in this space.</p>
<p>5. Take a hot bath. Light a candle.</p>
<p>6. Ear plugs can be a blessing!  </p>
<p>7. Close your office/bedroom door</p>
<p>8. Unplug. Turn your cell phone off.</p>
<p>9. Drive with your radio off.</p>
<p>10. Visit a park.</p>

<p>6. Walk</p>
<p>7. Take in the fresh air (if outdoors)</p>
<p>8. Feel how blessed you are </p>
<p>9. Pray</p>
<p>10. Listen</p>
<p>11. Smile</p>
<p>12. Meditate</p>
<p>13. Breathe</p>
<p>14. Just BE</p>

<p>What I appreciate about my job (I&#8217;m a fifth grade school teacher) is: I can help and inspire young people, two days are never the same, I am challenged intellectually and creatively all the time. Yes, I am learning right along with my students: a truly wonderful thing!</p>

(A Florida sunset is the best!)</p>
<p>What I appreciate about Florida is that it is my home, it is entrusting me to teach it&#8217;s young (by giving me my teaching certificate), the climate, the beach, the palm trees, the fact that it stays green here all year long, and all the friendly people who live here.</p>
<p>This exercise is really fun. I find myself on a roll here. I do not wish to be a bore so I will finish my entry in my private journal and permit you to begin yours!</p>

<p>Living The Mew Way, like my cat does, is not that difficult. </p>
<p>We just need to keep a few basic principles in mind:</p>
<p>1. Ask for what we want (make some noise if our food or water bowls are empty, litter boxes are dirty, or if a lap to sleep on is required).</p>
<p>2. Look tenderly at the ones we love.</p>
<p>3. Appreciate fresh air and the natural world.</p>
<p>4. Eat when we are hungry.</p>
<p>5. Sleep when we need to.</p>
<p>6. Don&#8217;t stress about much.</p>
<p>7. Be a good companion.</p>
<p>8. Love is the most important thing! Cuddling, petting, kisses&#8230;.are mandatory throughout the day.</p>

<p>At Christmas time, it is worth a try to put a bit of nutmeg on our favorite eggnog drink too!</p>
