We are pleased to advise you of some exciting changes happening to The Water Delivery Company and Edgar’s Water.

With effect from 1st November 2020, our companies will merge into a single company. This creates one of the largest home & workplace hydration specialists in the UK. By joining the companies, we will be able to further enhance standards of support and product offering, whilst still maintaining our personal and friendly service.

Over the coming months we will be making changes that will see a further progression of our service, including a new Self-Service portal for quick and easy ordering, giving you more control over your water orders. This progression has been made possible as a result of becoming part of the Culligan family.

You will begin to see a gradual process of company literature and communication being rebranded.

Here are simple steps you can take to keep your business hydrated safely:

• Regularly wipe water cooler taps and dispensing area using food-safe antibacterial wipes or spray
• Empty the drip trap regularly and wash either in a dishwasher or sink with hot, soapy water
• Keep the necessary distance (min. 2m) from other people when standing in line for water
• Make sure to thoroughly wash your hands or disinfect them before using the water dispenser. Having hand sanitizer nearby for users is also recommended
• Use a freshly cleaned water glass/bottle or use recyclable cups

If you are returning to work after lockdown, by following these simple instructions, you should have your water dispenser back up and running in just a few minutes:

Bottle dispensers:

• Ensure the cooler is switched on
• Remove the bottle, drain the dispenser through the taps
• Fit a new bottle and flush approx. 2L of water through both taps and dispose of the water
• Clean the taps and dispensing area with food-safe sanitiser spray or wipes
• Wash drip tray in the sink or dishwasher in hot water and detergent
• If your bottled cooler has had a bottled removed for longer than 3 weeks, every effort should be made to sanitise your dispenser. Please Email us (or call 0330 123 3309) to arrange a sanitisation. Please bear with us during this time, we are getting to our customers as quickly as we can.

Mains-fed dispensers:

• Ensure the power and water supply to the dispenser are turned on
• Flush approx. 5L water through both taps and dispose of the water
• Clean taps and dispensing area with food-safe sanitiser spray or wipes
• Wash drip tray in the sink or dishwasher in hot water and detergent

Hot water dispensers:

• Switch the dispenser back on and allow it to reach temperature
• Once up to temperature, drain the tank and allow to re-fill
• Clean tap and dispensing area with food-safe sanitiser spray or wipes

Renting water coolers

The cost of renting a water cooler can be as little as £1 a week. This is for the rental of the water dispenser machine.
It is important to consider which water cooler you want.
A bottled water cooler requires water refill bottles, whereas a mains-fed water cooler plumbs directly into a water supply, and no bottles are needed.

Buying water coolers

The cost of buying a water cooler varies depending on the type of cooler you are looking for. A simple machine perfect for chilling bottled water starts at £125.00 (ex Vat).
If you wanted a high-end machine that also dispenses sparkling water you can expect to pay more. We love the Biorefresh water cooler manufactured by Culligan at £445.00 (ex Vat).
Whether you choose to rent or buy your water cooler and opt for a bottled or mains-fed machine, it doesn’t need to be expensive. The benefits of drinking better quality spring, or filtered water are great for you and your family.

Renting a bottled water cooler

Starting at £1 a week the rental of a bottled water cooler is a great affordable option and is easy to set up. You simply plug your machine into a normal power outlet, add your water bottle, and you’re all set.
Water bottle prices vary depending on the size of the bottle and quantity. Bottles normally come in 12, 15, and 19 litres. At The Water Delivery Company we sell English spring water, and our most popular is our 19 litre returnable bottle; which is reused many times saving on plastic waste.

Renting a mains-fed water cooler

Typically, mains-fed coolers are more expensive to hire than bottled coolers. However, the beauty of a mains-fed water machine is that once installed, you only pay for the rent of the machine – no bottled water is needed.
At The Water Delivery Company we provide installation for our rental customers. We will consult with you first to ensure you have a suitable water outlet. Once confirmed we will recommend the best water machine for your needs (e.g. office size, number of people, and what type of water you want – chilled, hot, sparkling).

HOW TO FORM A HABIT THIS NEW YEAR

1. Start Simple – Don’t try to completely change in one day. It is easy to get over-motivated and take on too much. If you want to drink 2 litres of water a day, start with 1 litre a day and build it up gradually.
2. Commit to 21 days — Research shows that three to four weeks is all the time you need to make a habit automatic. Once you make it through the initial conditioning phase, it becomes much easier to keep up.
3. Buddy Up – Find someone such as a colleague or a friend who will go along with you and keep you inspired if your motivation is dwindling. Get competitive!
4. Restructure your Environment — Make sure to prompt yourself to stick to your resolution and remove any negative temptations in the first 21 days. Out of sight, out of mind!
5. Remind Yourself — After around two weeks it can be easy to lose motivation and forget about your resolution. Place reminders to stick to your habit by writing on a sticky note or set a reminder on your phone.

How old are you?

18-30s

• You’re not getting enough sleep:
  The sleep-deprived generation. Today’s youngsters are lacking in important hours of sleep paired with inconsistent sleeping patterns, thanks to all those late nights and early starts. New research suggests that anything under 6 hours of slumber a night could leave our bodies less than adequately hydrated, by disrupting the release of a hormone called vasopressin which manages fluid levels while we sleep. If you’re not staying asleep long enough, you might miss that window in which more of the hormone is released. To combat this, make sure you get a restful 8 hours of sleep every night. Drink a tall glass of water first thing in the morning to replace your water loss immediately.
   
  
• Hungover?
  Dehydration is one of the main causes of your hangover symptoms which often presents as a headache, nausea and fatigue. Alcohol quickly dehydrates the body because it is a diuretic, so when you drink alcohol you must remember to drink water as well. Drinking water before, during and after drinking alcohol will help to prevent dehydration, and flush out toxins. A handy trick is to match each alcoholic drink with one glass of water to avoid that next-day hangover.
   
  

30s-50s

• You need more water than you used to:
  The body loses water as we get older. At about the age of 40, the proportion of total body fluids to body weight begins to decrease. This means you actually need to increase your water intake as you get older. You shouldn’t wait to feel thirsty to drink water, because by the time you are thirsty, that’s already an indication of early dehydration.
   
  
• Coffee, tea, more coffee:
  Most of us rely on caffeine to get through the day. However, caffeine is a diuretic, meaning it causes a person to urinate more often. It’s not clear whether this causes dehydration or not, but to be safe, it’s probably a good idea to stay away from too much caffeine in hot weather, during long workouts, or in other situations where you might sweat a lot. Caffeine also disrupts our sleep and prevents us from getting a restful nights sleep.
   
  

60s-70+

• Your sense of thirst is weaker:
  Thirst isn’t always a very good indicator of the body’s need for more fluids, especially as you get older. You won’t feel thirst as readily as you used to because your thirst response is weaker. Over the age of 50, you may feel tired and draggy rather than thirsty, and may opt for a nap instead of a tall glass of water. Because of that, many older adults don’t drink enough liquids. Next time you feel like taking a kip, try a refreshing cool glass of water instead and it might be the pick-me-up you need.
   
  
• You aren’t drinking frequently enough:
  Unfortunately the body loses water as we age. An adult over 60 years old has less water to lose before becoming dehydrated so you need to drink fluids throughout the day, even when you are not thirsty. A way to encourage yourself to drink more is to consume other sources of hydration such as juice, milk and water-rich vegetables with a high water content such as cucumbers.
