AdSense + Chitika – The Killer Combination That Will Raise Your Earnings

In a recent post here at TheWeblogZone, Rusmanica Tudor gave you 6 Good Reasons to Use AdSense. I’m not surprised with what Rusmanica shared because AdSense truly is one of the bests and easiest ad networks out there that you can easily make money from (provided you have decent traffic).

But hey, there is always space for more right? What if you can increase your earnings without affecting AdSense? Is that possible?

Yes, it is possible and I have done exactly that! How? Read on!

Make More Money Online With Chitika

Chitika is a one of a kind Pay Per Click ad network. Chitika ads display only to search engine traffic from United States and Canada. Ads are extremely targeted because Chitika matches the keywords that visitor uses to arrive on a page. This results in high Click Through Rate (CTR). For me, Chitika has delivered 10 times more CTR than AdSense! And that too without affecting AdSense revenue.

Another plus with Chitika is the low Payout. You get paid via PayPal after reaching $10.

Using Chitika With AdSense

Since Chitika ads only show up to Search Engine Traffic, you might think that they will just hog space for other traffic. If you are thinking that, you are wrong. Chitika gives you the option to either collapse into nothing or display other ads.

Displaying other ads is what you should do if you want to retain AdSense earnings.

First, get your Google AdSense code from AdSense account. Next, open a notepad and paste your code into it. Place the following tags before code:

Save this file and then upload it to your server.

Copy the exact URL to the file. If you upload it to public_html folder, the address should be yourdomain.com/filename.

Go to Chitika and click “Get Code”. Select ad size in the next step. After this, you have to choose how Chitika will show up to non search traffic. Click the second option ( Show a different ad (such as Google Adsense) ) and enter the file address.

Follow next steps, grab your Chitika code and add it to your blog.

Tip: Chitika ads work best when near content, so it is best if you place them near content.

We have to follow the above procedures to make Chitika display AdSense to non search engine traffic. When Chitika detects a non search engine visitor, it will use an iFrame to display Google AdSense ad instead. This means that while your regular visitors will see AdSense ads, search engine visitors see Chitika ads.

This way, you will not lose any AdSense earnings but earn more through Chitika at the same time!

Tips to Maximize Chitika Earnings

Here are some more tips to maximize your Chitika Earnings:

Place Near Content: Chitika ads do not work well in sidebar and footer areas. You should place ads near content(below title/after content)
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Remember to optimize your blog so that you get more Search Engine Traffic. More Search Engine Traffic = More Earnings.
Bigger is Better: Chitika has recently introduced Mega Ad Units of size 550 x 120 pixels and 500 x 120 pixels. Some publishers have reported 4x CTR with these ad sizes. You should give them a try.

The Other Day Was Twitter, Now It’s FaceBook

Last Monday, the great firewall blocked Twitter because the Chinese government wants to prevent the exchange of information after a wave of violence erupted between the Han Chinese and Uighurs of Xinjiang Province. To prevent the violence from escalating, much like what happened in Tibet last year, the Chinese authorities blocked Twitter. YouTube is already blocked ages ago and I thought that will be all… but the great firewall turned to FaceBook and now it’s also on the block list.

I’m a blogger. YouTube, Twitter and FaceBook is where most of my social life revolves. How am I suppose to network with my friends now? There’s still 2 weeks left before I get back to the Philippines where Twitter, YouTube and FaceBook will never be blocked.

Given these circumstances, I apologize to all my buddies for not replying to your messages or your tweets. I’ve tried using several proxies to get into FaceBook or Twitter but it’ll only work for 3 mins then the great firewall gets on the way.

The increasing number of spammers on Twitter is becoming a major problem. Although Twitter takes a strong stand against spammers, a lot of them are still able to go off the radar.

If you are one of those who take on spammers seriously then TwitChuck.com is your friend. TwitChuck lets you check whether a Twitter user is a spammer or not. It also allows you to report spammers that will then be removed by the friendlist cleaner, which is due to be launched later this week.

I checked how TheWeblogZone is doing and here’s the result.

Google Page Rank Update

Apparently, Google started another page rank update yesterday (June 23). The last page rank update happened early last month so this update was totally unexpected. Typically, page rank update takes place every three months or so but it seems Google is now updating more frequently. All I can assume is that this could be due to some of the recent changes in its algorithm.

The good news is TheWeblogZone is now PR-4. Last month, it’s got PR 3. I also see a couple of my pages with page ranks now. However, I didn’t see any changes in page rank for most of my websites. Usually, PR update takes a couple of days to fully take effect, so you could still see changes in the coming days.

The winners should have been announced yesterday but I had to delay the announcement because choosing one logo from a pool of great designs is one tough undertaking.

Let me thank once again all the graphic designers who participated in my logo design contest. You’ve done a great job. Unfortunately, there can only be two winners. John Chow recently launched TwitterFollower.com, a free service that aims to quickly build your Twitter follower. It works by providing a database of Twitter users, also known as “the list”, who will follow you when you follow them.

The list gives you the convenience of following other Twitter users without having to individually add them. By providing your Twitter username and password, you can follow them directly from your TwitterFollower account.
Mass unfollow is another feature of TwitterFollower.com. Other services will charge you for this but it’s free with TwitterFollower. Click on the Mass Unfollow button and Twitter Follower will unfollow all those who are not following you back. Once you press this button, there’s not going back so make sure you really want to unfollow them.

Problems With TwitterFollower

The biggest issue with TwitterFollower is the fact that there is no system in place that will make sure that those you follow will follow you back. John Chow said that those who don’t follow back will be removed from the list but there’s no way this is going to happen especially that the list is growing fast and that there’s no automated checking system in place.
