Hello Everyone!

A few days ago. we received a great surprise from America. It was a package from my cousin. Before I tell you what the surprise was, I would like to tell you the story behind the surprise.

About two years ago, Mama and Dada started looking into the possibility of verifying my cousin Shiela’s true citizenship. Shiela’s natural birth father was an American citizen. Although Shiela was over 21 years old at the time, they still wanted to see if they could get her US citizenship.

After a long year of paperwork, many trips to the US Embassy in Manila and, even, DNA testing, Shiela was given US citizenship and a new US passport. After a few months, the money was gotten together to provide her with an airline ticket to New York City. Shiela has relatives on her natural birth father’s side, so it was decided that she would stay with her grandmother in New York.

Shiela was so happy with what Mama and Dada had done for her that she said ” I will repay you all someday.” Of course, Mama and Dada said that was not necessary because she is our family. Shiela said “OK, but I will send a surprise from the States!”

When Shiela arrived in the States she got her first job and started making money. From her first paycheck, she purchased a surprise for me and my brother and sisters. The surprise was: The newest PSP model – the PSP go.

Hello Everyone!

Monday was a very short day with only three hours of class. It was really great to see all my classmates after a long summer break. We introduced ourselves to our new teacher. She is a very nice lady. We did some singing of songs and some writing. There was time spent for the teacher to talk with the parents that were present.

Today, we had a test. It was to test our ability in math, writing, and English. This test will decide who will be in the more advance class which comes early in the morning and the regular class that starts at 10:30am. I was in the kindergarten advance class last year and I hope that my test results are good enough to put me in the advance class. I think I will find out the final results tomorrow.

We will have short class hours the rest of the week. Next Monday is a national holiday (Philippine Independence Day). We will start regular hours next Tuesday.

Hello Everyone!

Next Monday (June 7th), I will be returning to school to start the 1st Grade. This will be a really exciting day as I will be attending my first day of Elementary School. This means that I will be in class for 6 hours a day instead of 3 hours when I was in Kindergarten.

I had a really great summer vacation with so much time to play with friends, swimming, and helping Mama working in the yard.  Although I had much time to play, it was not all “fun and games.” Each night, before going to sleep, Mama and Dada helped me to learn to read. I can, now, read very easily at a 1st Grade level. This will give me a big advance starting the 1st Grade. I, also, practiced my writing and math skills.

Well, I will have a lot to write about during the coming months as I learn so many new things in school and at home. Summer vacation has been great fun but I am happy to be going back to school.
