Backing up email is an integral aspect to email management.

New Mandatory Update To Thexyz Cloud Backup Agent

On Monday 29th April we will be setting the minimum required version of the Thexyz client to 1.12.6. All previous versions of the client will no longer be supported by Thexyz and will stop connecting to the cloud. This means that if you are running an older version of the Windows and Mac client software your back-ups will no longer run and no data will be synced via the briefcase. Any existing data stored in your cloud account will remain in the cloud and will still be accessible through the web portal and mobile apps.

Thexyz Now Supports Windows 8

Version 1.12.6 of our Desktop software for Windows and Mac includes an improved status screen, bandwidth settings, and many stability improvements. The Windows version of the software also now fully supports Windows 8.

Customers who have a previous version of the client software already installed will see a pop up notification on their desktop asking them to upgrade.

Ongoing Global Attack On WordPress

Over the past few days there is an on-going and highly-distributed, global attack on WordPress installations across virtually every web host in existence.

This attack is well organized and again very, very distributed; we have seen over 90,000 IP addresses involved in this attack.

At this moment, we highly recommend you log into any WordPress installation you have and change the password to something that meets the security requirements specified on the WordPress website. These requirements are fairly typical of a secure password: upper and lowercase letters, at least eight characters long, and including ?special? characters (^%$#&@*).

The main force of this attack began last week, then slightly died off, before picking back up again yesterday morning. No one knows when it will end. The symptoms of this attack are a very slow backend on your WordPress site, or an inability to log in. In some instances your site could even intermittently go down for short periods.

We are taking several steps to mitigate this attack throughout our server farm, but in the same breath it is true that in cases like this there is only so much that can actually be done.

The servers most likely will experience service interruptions because of the high numbers of WordPress installations hosted, due to the incredibly high load this attack has been seen to cause.

There are two nice features to disrupt brute force attacks:

1) Set-up a failed login limit: For example if the IP gets the login wrong the plugin adds the IP to your blocked list for a set period of time. In certain cases I have set it to block after 2 wrong attempts and to block for an hour.

2) Change your login path: This feature changes the login path to a custom one so that an attacker cant guess it. ie (mydomain.com/mysecretlogin1234) It updates all the files automatically so you dont have to go editing the .htaccess file yourself.

In the past week we have successfully upgraded one of our core network switches for Thexyz Premium Webmail. The switch was completed within seconds and due to backup measures, resulted in no downtime. The results are very good - about 3 to 5 times increase in speed compared to the old network switch. Now our customers enjoy sending 50MB attachments in email within seconds and also have 25GB email accounts.

We are all starting a new year and we are starting this year with a new backup server. This is being added as an additional backup to ensure our premium email services remains online during any issues that could occur.

We are happy to inform you about our plans to migrate all web hosting accounts in our data center in California (Peer1) to a more advanced cloud hosting platform.

This major change will require moving all accounts to a more capable data center facility that responds to all requirements of the new system. Currently, we are close to sealing a deal with a data center in Las Vegas, but there is also a possibility that all accounts be moved to our data center in Chicago.

Today we have released a new version of Thexyz cloud Backup software for Windows and Mac OS X. The new 1.9.2 version of the program is now fully compatible with Mac OS X Mountain Lion and includes a selection of backend performance upgrades. This is a two part upgrade that will rolled out automatically to all our customers. The Control Panel Menu Updated At Thexyz Server

In response to your helpful feedback, we have made some improvements to the top drop-down menu in the Control Panel at Thexyz Server. It now features a totally reworked back-end, which will allow for the drop-down menu to be available under any Operating System, device or platform (including Apple's iPad/iPhone).

Another update to the menu is that when you hover over a menu item, a short text will be displayed describing what you can do in the respective section. This will help you to quickly find your way to the action that you want to perform at the moment.
