Yes, yes again! (such a shame I missed it at the time, here's a back to the future).
the short film "A message from Unilever" (Dove latest ad "Onslaught" spoof), is exactly what I meant in this post about Unilever. Punk Planning does it better here, if you want.
And this thanks to Rye Clifton (the original director of the Onslaught film !?!?!?! who edited this video Message) who was smart enough to apply an "helicopter view" on the situation and his work for Unilever. He turned the feeling most of us had into images.
You got balls Rye, you're fresh.
But just one thing, you didn't knew what Unilever was before working for Dove.... ?
maybe we should ask him directly, (he posted his adress at the end of the film). I'm also wondering what Unilever's offical reaction was (the unfoffical beeing: pissed).
Wait a minute, I'm kind of lost, some articles about this story say Clifton is the "Onslaught" director, but all the other sites say Tim Piper is. I'm confused, but I think Tim Piper did the "Onslaught",(he's credited as AD, writer, director and editor... that should be enough), anyway, nevermind.

Last month Mini UK organized, trough its new promotional site The Other Lunch break, a series of crazy-interesting-entertaining activities for your lunch break hour.
Check the site, we've of course (not in London + last month) missed the activities, but you'll find online some really nice videos of some of the lunch break meetings such as: Bruce Lee for Beginners - How to Beat a Lie Detector - Man/Woman School - The Things Your Parents Should Have Taught You - Moonwalking for Beginners, etc.

It was kind of a good nickname for our big little country, referring to the bit boring (that's at least what we thought at the time) teenager life we had there.
Dignitas, a swiss service company, is all over the news nowadays.(in french) and here (in German)...
Why? for its service.
Dignitas offers totally legal, medically controlled and organized suicide.
Their tagline: "To live with dignity. To die with dignity". (which is kind of a strange tagline as they organize suicides in cars for example...)

Diesel's power brand brand's power: or how the Italian fashionista jeans maker takes an old Finnish dance master's video lesson, re-edit it, add a bit of CGI (meant to be poor I guess by the way) and makes 53,777 hits on Ytube in 5 days...
Personally, I prefer this one, Teleportation. ("only" 44,024 hits in 3 weeks, see...).
Does anyone still wants to run TVC's ? (yes... I know).

Well, after all, my post wasn't about this so called "success" (is it really?). I know that most blogs, sites and magazines in the business talked about this Diesel internet move, that probably explains part of the 55 K hits on Ytube. 'Come on people, let's be honest, the films are not interesting at all, neither particularly "viral ready", neither amazing in terms of production, and so on, and so on.
Well, here's the back of my thought: This stuff is absolutely not interesting. A proper documentary about finnish dance master Ake Blomqvist (and partner Leena of course) would have been way more. by the way here's the original footage used by Surface2Air and there, Master Blomqvist's real dance school).

hey hey,
was reading a post on Heron Preston's blog yesterday (have a look, good stuff) about "full screen videos" on websites. I totally agree with him, they're really nice, bringing something special to online moving images, that kind of TV feeling with an arty touch added... also agree with him that they can not be everywhere. anyway, here's an evolution of the technique (so to say): The Arcade Fire "Neon Bible" interactive video. (the group's site is really well done too) Mixing full screens vids and that interactive exchange probably gives a good idea of how next big hit sites will look like pretty, pretty, pretty soon.
