I know I have not been blogging much at all… Time seems so short each day and Bailey loves having her mommy most of the day to herself!  At night, I work on this:

Today while busily running way too many errands I headed to Trader Joes.  I was in a hurry.  I guess I just had too many “To-do’s” and not enough time, what is new, that is always how it seems to be.  I parked in the over crowded way too small for Trader Joes parking lot, rounded Bailey up who had managed to take off her shoes, her socks, her ponytail, I think if it were not for her straps it would also be her, shirt, her pants, and diaper, and THAT would make her happy.  I walked up to Trader Joes, Bailey in arms, this was going to be a quick trip!  The automated doors opened and I walked in.  That is when I heard a lot of playful screaming, looked over and saw a mother whom was wearing a little one in a moby wrap, with a cart next to her, a 3 year old whom was having a tantrum and the playful screaming I heard was her 2 year old running from her.  She was trying to shuffle her 3 year old whom was being defiant, the cart, her purse, and catch her 2 year old who was off and running.  She had a look of frustration, so quickly I headed towards her 2 year old and said hello, as Bailey was also waving hello!  The little two year old was intrigued with Bailey, something about children, they love other little children.  A second later his Mom walked up.  She looked at me and said “Thank you very much”.  She did not have to tell me about the situation, about what kind of day she had, about how last night she was up every hour, or about how 2 and 3 year olds like to pull tantrums in public places and sometimes you just can not do anything about it.  You know, before I had Bailey, I would have looked at this situation different.  I would had thought, “Wow, she should control her children” or “Wow, those children must be naughty…”  Now though, this time, I look at this Mom, her face, and I know the frustration, the hard day,  the tired, sleep deprived self, I just understand that it happens, things happen.  I try to look at her and smile, we both understand.

I thank Bailey for teaching me this understanding, she is my greatest teacher in life.

I miss blogging.  I have just been busy.  Busy spending all the seconds in my day with her, this cuteness:

I do not consider myself too structured nor am I too lax, I think I am right in the middle.  When it comes to Bailey, most of the time, we go with the flow, let things happen.  Today I was running errands trying to get a birthday present for a friend’s daughter and a christmas present for her also.  We went to the outdoor mall, it was “cold”, and I say “cold” for Southern California, because you know it is always sunny here and never rains, yep.  It was about 55 degrees, and raining, actually we have had a lot of rain over the past several days, which is good (except for the ants, ohh another day on that…).  Bailey and I had just finished picking out the gifts and she was walking holding my hand, looking so cute in her boots and raincoat!  As we approached the water pad she started to squeal in delight, “alright” I said, we can go and look at the fountain!  So we went over to look at the fountain as she kept tugging me closer.  Then she wanted to put her hands in, “okay, feel the water”, and the next thing you know, it was standing next to the water, putting her arms in the water, then go the feet in the water and then this:

You see, before this I may have looked at someone like the other Moms looked at me, like “why would you let your daughter do that, it is freezing, she is wet, and… la la la”.  Would I ever be “that kind of mom”.  I mean I like to have fun with the rest of them, but some things I am not as good at, like spur of the second things because I would probably be thinking she would get too cold, too wet, too something.  When I was growing up my mom was amazing, she let us explore, create and just be.  So far, I think I have been doing alright with Bailey also, but before today would I have let her go all the way into the water, maybe not.  At this moment though I was reminded of something, something incredible, the power of enjoying and living in the moment.  At this moment we played, laughed as she ran in and out of the water, she was free.  The smile on her face, if I could see that every single day I was left on this earth, I would need little more.  She reminded me how to be happy, how to play, in this 30 minutes we spent playing in the water.  Hearing her laugh as she ran around the water, as it squirted her in the face, as she looked for me as I was at the edge of the water and giggled.  She would come hug my leg and run back, as to tell me thank you,  completely amazing.  I want to be that kind of mom.  The type of mom that lets her child explore, be happy, and be herself.  The kind of mom that lets her child play in the fountain in the cold weather because it makes her happy, and her smiling face shines.  That kind of mom. So many times we forget what brings joy and laughter to a child, so many times we are too busy, and you know what, I am glad I was not too busy and I am glad I was able to share this 30 minutes, indeed, it was one of my favorite moments with Bailey.  Life goes by fast, moments pass by, and when we get to have one of these moments, it stays in our hearts.  This is what made me smile, this is what I saw as I lived in this moment with you:

Thank you Bailey, you know you make me smile.  I love you. every day. more and more. if that is even possible.

A year ago was not that long, but forever has happened within it…

“The best thing in life aren’t things”

Moments like these I never want to forget, ever.

A friend of our family’s grandson passed away while waiting for another heart.  Bryce had a wish that 10,000 people would view his video.  In memory of Bryce a group of people are attempting to fulfill his wish as a tribute to him and all the others waiting donor recipients.
