Coming back to this old playground.. I wanted to delete all my old posts. But as I clicked back and browsed through them, I saw some good memories. So I tot it's not all so bad.

And also thinking back, this is actually the second time I'm revamping my blog. The last time I deleted all my old posts, my friend screamed at me "WHAT!!!" when i told him they are gone... he nearly fainted...

SO I'm keeping the old posts!

This Cake is Still Not for Everyone

It's been 2yrs since I last ran out of things to write.

But I'm back :)

This time, I will fill up on the 2 years gap. Emotional roller coaster rides, breaking out of comfort zones, new creations, new fights, never mentioned before secrets.... ahh life!

Deja vu

Again.
This is the 3rd time I've experience the closure of a ballet class due to insufficient number of students.
I was the only one left in Cheng Ballet's Monday night pointe class.
And hence my laoshi had to close the class.

I'm always the only one left in the ballet class.
2 years ago.
Attitude Performing Arts Studio, Bukit Timah.
The ballet class started with so many students that we had to use the 2 extra removable barres.
Month after month lesser students turned up.
After 1 year,
One out of the two ballet classes got cancelled.
Pretty often only I turned up for class.
After 2 1/2 yrs
Finally, it was closed too.

I left Attitude and joined Cheng Ballet Academy in 3 Jan 2007.
The pointe class that closed started full house too.
All but 2 students had never worn pointe shoes.
One of them was me.
That other lady dropped out after 4 lessons.
She didn't enjoy the pain.

Today is Tuesday.
The significance is that tonight 7-8pm there is Patrick Loo's Hip Hop Class @ Dance Art, Funan DigiMall.
My heart can't decide if I really want to go or not.

Today is the official School reopen and back to work Day

which means I'm home-alone again.
This kind of mornings are never nice.
It digs at your heart to wake up to an empty house.
When I woke up I went to check every room.
But there was nobody.

When the rest were around, the past few wks.. I complained that I couldn't work because everybody is so distracting.
The TV is on 16/7.
People talking, people talking on the phone, people watching tv, people ask me to do things, people ask me to play with them.. the *clink-and-clangs all made it impossible to concentrate.

So today I did a number of stuff as there was peace and quiet.

I drew my grandma's bodice block
did the laundry
washed veggie
heat up last night's curry and rice
talked to grandma on the phone (she called me twice and bought me strawberries)

The 1st 3 are rather time consuming stuff, 45min-2hrs each.

Later I have ballet class.. haiz i already tired from all the chores done today.
But wad i dread most is driving home.
I'm terrified of driving.
so irritating.. why can't I drive like a natural?

My grandma ain't mad at me

She tells me to visit her when I have time.
I didn't tell her this that I've decided to set aside every Wednesday to go visit her. And every wk I'll make a blouse or pants for her.

Every time I walk past her old room, I feel very sad.
It is no longer in shambles. Just a pretty empty room now.
My dad is fixing the floor will fillers and polish.
Next will be painting the walls.

My day was turned into shambles.

I should have done something to stop.

I had the okay-whatever attitude.
I'm so self-centred, so self-fish.
I took ah hou for granted..
Now i'll be separated from my grandma...until i have money to buy a place and we'll live together again.

I feel so stupid.
I feel used.
I feel like a dagger and I've hurt... people

Let me tell you a story. A story about making my first pants!

Making The Pants!

This is at my desk at Kadomay Dressmaking and Training Centre.
See my pink colour Balenciaga bag on the floor? My pant's big paper pattern is too long for the sewing desk! In case you were wondering... This paper pattern is drawn from scratch using my own measurements unlike in fashion schools which traces mannequin size.

So laoshi let me lay it out on the big table. This is laying and then pinning the paper pattern onto the cloth, in order to cut the cloth accurately.
I chose a Tiffany & Co.-turquoise stretch cotton cloth.
This pants is a low-waist, boot-cut long pants.
I chose boot-cut coz it makes my legs look uber long!
At home, I do not have a big table so I use the floor.
I've cut out the cloth according to the paper patternTracing the back pocket. The blue thingy is carbon paper.

Working on my retro dress's big(brown) and small(white A4) paper patterns.
A lot of measuring and drawing to do.
BTW this is not messiness. Just me being artistic.

Progress of Dressmaking Course

I can't rem how long it's been since I've started the Dressmaking Intermediate Level.
Yesterday I've finally finished copying all the 33 or 34 pages of diagrams.
Thank goodness! It's been some time alr.

Laoshi says that I can either make a pair of pants or a jacket nxt! Woohoo
This gives me the intermediate-feeling. Taking my dressmaking skills to the next level.

XC knows that the Jacket and the Pants are my muses. So it's really hard to choose between the two.
Hmm jacket is tempting, but I've decided to stick to my original plans of making pants.
So I wouldn't be seeing My Jacket until about 2 months later. Which is about how long it's gonna take to make a 1st pants.

Serene's(my sis) Primary 6 Graduation Party Dress

The Process
At first, I had no idea wad to do..
But I had to start somewhere.
So I asked her, if she wanted a skirt, a dress or wad?
1st she said skirt, then she said shorts but I can't sew pants yet.
In the end we settled for a dress.

Still not knowing wad to do next.
But I had to do something.. anything coz then I only had barely a 7 days to design, draft the pattern and sew the entire dress from scratch.
So I asked her what's her fav colour.
She pointed to a dress she already has (which is our back up plan btw, in case I couldn't finish the dress in time), saying she likes pink, dark pink, not light pink. Absolutely hates light pink.

There! I have it.
An all-pink dress it is.

Next, I went down to buy fabrics.
I went to every shop asking for pink fabrics.
Then did I know her fav color is actually called Fuchsia.
My friends who went along with me, one after another asked me,
"So you know wad design you want for the dress already?"
"You have a design in mind?"
I gave them all a quick "No?"
Then continued digging for Fuchsia fabrics.
Alas, I bought a cotton bland Fuchsia and a chiffon Fuchsia.
Little by little during the fabric hunting process, the look of the dress is in my head already.
Designing, done.

I've been sick for the past 3weeks.
Battling 1st stomach flu and then almost immediately came sore throat, running nose and cough.
But there were 2 biggies I had to do no matter what.

No. 1 was to go out and buy Jay Chou's NEW Album 《魔杰座》.
I could have easily downloaded the whole album for free on the internet.
However, as a true blue Jay Chou fan, NO WAY！
I waited and waited and waited until I bought the CD with cold hard cash.

No.2 was designing and sewing my sister's Pri 6 Graduation Party dress.
It's featured in the next post, "Latest Creation".

I dun think they're keen on hiring. (I heard business has been bad lately)

Odile skirt debuted on MGS's Be Yourself Day

Last friday was Methodist Girls School's Be Yourself Day.
My sister got me to design a skirt for her for the event.

My inspiration came from a taiwanese idol drama。
In 《命中注定我爱你》 (Fated to Love You), there's a ballerina who is very determined to dance the role of Odette in the ballet classic The Swan Lake.

However, my sister is no white swan. Her skin is slightly tanned. So immediately I tot of the second fiddle in Swan Lake. She is Odile the black swan.

Chanel's 2008 Fall Makeup

This Fall, Chanel added a lot of gold to their makeup. Nothing new actually if you have always been a makeup junkie.
In the photo, my dressmaking classmate is using Chanel's lipstick in a nude color with a dash of gold. It's so subtle my amateur canon camera can't pick it up. Only that special one, will see the golden sparkles when he is peeking at your lips (up close and personal of course ;)
