I've been out on my book tour for a few days now and, simultaneously, my father has been posting lots of photos from his childhoor on Facebook. I love looking at old family photos but this one above really struck a chord. No one remembers exactly what this event was, but the people in the photo are my uncle Peter and my Grandmother Jane. I can't stop looking at this photo. They both look like movie stars and my grandmother's outfit is beyond fabulous.
A part of me has always idealized New England preppy style and Yankee sensibilities and the Terry family has both in spades. My grandmother Jane was not the warmest woman but I loved her. She was always positive and upbeat, surrounded by a family of sarcastic, snobby cynics, myself included.

OK, this is a couple of weeks of photos from Instagram. Clearly, I have become enamoured with the spot focus setting- I am going to try for more variety this week! On with the photos...

I've been drinking a lot of coffee lately. It's alway so clear which one is my coffee cup.

A friend went to Paris and bought me Ladurée macarons. I collect their gift boxes and this one, with it's flip top and disco gold interior is particularly stunning. Also not that the pistachio one sorta matches my nail polish.

My mom's cat Pee-Wee, who is really not so wee. I love him though. And he loves getting his armpits and belly rubbed.

A {Pretty} Pouch A Day

Yesterday, I went in to get my weekly allergy shot. As I was leaving, the receptionist watched as I gathered my purse, tote bag, jacket, scarf and cup of tea and dryly commented, "you don't travel light, do you?"
This is one of the NY things I have not been able to let go of in my Philly life. Like a modern-day nomad, I travel with everything I need for the day, including but not limited to: my make-up, a snack, at least one beverage, a wallet, a notbook, my phone, a change of shoes and a magazine or two. Sometimes I throw a few groceries in there too. People who have cars use them to throw all their junk in, I carry mine on my back.
One thing that keeps my bags from falling into complete disarray is my love for pouches. Here are some favorite pouches, so cute they inspire rhymes...

Sunday's pouch is grey and flat, in the whimsical shape of a sleeping cat.

Monday's pouch is of fine feathered flocks, it's bright photoprints will knock off your socks.

Tuesday's pouch with delicate beads, is a tiny purse of a highbrow breed.

Wednesday's favorite is no slouch, it's a rosy pink fold-over pouch.

Thursday's pouch is patterned and fun- oh-so hard to just pick one.

Friday's pouch is worth the hype, with worn-in leather and railroad stripe.

Saturday's pouch, with colors electric. Each one is unique + quilted geometric.
