New York Times Caught Lying About Iran & IAEA Report

Before 1979, the U.S. strongly supported Iran's nuclear energy programs. Mainstream media is helping sell another illegal war. The way they do this is mainly by not reporting things or under-reporting things.

In a Congressional hearing early in 2011, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, replying to Senator Carl Levin, confirmed that as of 2011, the American intelligence community has a high level of confidence that Iran has not made a decision as of this point to restart its nuclear weapons program.

This testimony reflects the contents of the 2011 National Intelligence Estimate. Its texts has not been released, but from the Congressional testimony, it's clear that it repeats the conclusions of the 2007, that since 2003 Iran has not pursued military applications of nuclear technology. The text of the 2007 NIE was published during the Bush Presidency.

Sanger of the New York Times has often relayed misinformation from anonymous U.S. officials to the effect that the 2011 NIE would reverse that of 2007. On 6/8/10, he wrote that the new NIE "is using new evidence to revise and in some cases reverse conclusions from that [2007] estimate," and that the U.S. "is gradually backing away from a 2007 National Intelligence Estimate." On 6/15/10, he wrote that the new estimate "is likely to back away from some of the conclusions in the earlier document." On 3/27/10, he wrote that the 2007 National Intelligence Estimate's key conclusion "is also being rewritten." On 1/2/10, he wrote, "Mr. Obama's top advisers say they no longer believe the key finding of a much disputed National Intelligence Estimate about Iran." As of today, the New York Times has not corrected such misinformation or tried to explain it.

As for the 2007 NIE: the New York Times's reporting gives exhaustive coverage to criticisms of the 2007 NIE and information that seems to contradict it. Sanger rarely referred to the NIE estimate without the adjective "much-disputed"-- not pointing out that within the United States, it's politicians and media pundits who dispute it quite predictably, not U.S. intelligence organizations that voted for it 16-0 and reconfirmed it in 2011.

As late as November 6, 2011, Sanger writes sentences like this: "the report has been widely criticized as flawed." Note the absence of any reference to the 2011 NIE as recently as last November in a context where it should have been mentioned! And, in this story from a month ago he put the emphasis on its being "widely criticized as flawed" rather than its having been re-affirmed. (From YouTube, via @BobOrci)

The crowd sounded like Brasil just won the FIFA World Cup at home. It's only January 15th, and this may be my favorite photograph and moment of the year.

I'm not really sure if this "Anonymous" dude "Troy" is real or fake. Frankly, he looks like a cop to me, but it is an interesting piece nonetheless. It is even more interesting that the Government and Law Enforcement are so frightened of Anonymous to even have anyone speak about it on their behalf.

Also, on a less serious note, whenever I'm reading something about Anonymous or the Occupy Wall Street movement lately, I kind of want to start yelling "HACK THE PLANET!!!" Extra credit if you actually get that reference.

Dick Cheney Wanted to Kill American Soldiers & Start World War III

The Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist Seymour Hersh reveals how the neo-cons convened around Dick Cheney and brainstormed ways to kick off World War III, as they fondly call their pet project, to take out the Muslims and foment a contrived "clash of civilizations."

According to Hersh, this meeting occurred after the neo-cons failed miserably to stage a rehashed version of the Gulf of Tonkin incident in the Strait of Hormuz, mostly because it is no longer 1964 and such Big Lies—thanks to the internet and bloggers—are far more difficult to float. "For all I know, our Navy was shooting at whales out there," quipped Lyndon B. Johnson about the imaginary act of North Vietnamese boats supposedly attacking U.S. ships, leading to the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution and undeclared war in Southeast Asia, ultimately resulting in the death of nearly 60,000 Americans and around three million Southeast Asians.

In an exclusive Think Progress story, we learn the meeting took place in Cheney's office and the subject on the table was "How to create a casus belli between Tehran and Washington," part of an ongoing effort to provide an excuse to attack Iran. "There was a dozen ideas proffered about how to trigger a war," Hersh explains. "The one that interested me the most was why don't we build—we in our shipyard—build four or five boats that look like Iranian PT boats, put Navy Seals on them with a lot of arms, and next time one of our boats goes to the Strait of Hormuz, start a shoot-up."

Hersh would have us believe this scenario did not play out because "You can't have Americans killing Americans," an absurd explanation considering the fact the attacks of September 11th were just that—"Americans killing Americans," a calculated and cold-blooded act of mass murder carried out by elements in the U.S. Government as a "New Pearl Harbor," a cynical pretext to launch the "War on Terror," now grinding into its seventh year.

Ominously, these "ideas" hark back to Operation Northwoods, the Joint Chiefs of Staff plan to stage a false flag terror event—or a number of events—designed to provide a pretext to invade Cuba and take out Fidel Castro. Such "ideas" included "friendly Cubans" attacking the U.S. Base at Guantánamo Bay, shooting down a drone disguised as a chartered civil airliner and blaming it on Cuba, inciting riots and staging terror attacks in Miami, and other terrorist acts.

Fortunately, then Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara, put a kibosh to this insane plan. More recently, in January, 2003, in the lead-up to the Iraq invasion, George W. Bush and Tony Blair discussed painting planes in United Nations colors "In order to provoke an attack which could then be used to justify material breach." and thus set in motion an invasion, according to Philippe Sands, a leading British Human Rights Lawyer (see Revealed: Bush and Blair discussed using American Spy-plane in United Nations colors to lure Saddam Husseinhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saddam_Hussein into war, Channel Four News).

In fact, the neo-cons have not rested in their effort to foment war and force the support of the American people by way of deception. On May 16, 2008, Paul Joseph Watson, writing for Prison Planet, noted confidential recordings released under the Freedom of Information Act revealing the efforts of former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and top military analysts to cook up another terrorist attack on America in order to gain support for their ambitious plans to decimate Muslim culture. "The most extraordinary exchange takes place when Lieutenant General Michael DeLong bemoans shrinking political support for neo-con war plans on Capitol Hill and suggests that sympathy for the Bush Administration's agenda will only be achieved after a new terror attack," writes Watson. "Rumsfeld agrees that the psychological impact of 9/11 is wearing off and the 'behavior pattern' of citizens in both the U.S. and Europe suggests that they are unconcerned about the threat of terror." Rumsfeld characterizes Bush as "a victim of success" because America has not suffered "an attack in five years" and for Rumsfeld and the neo-cons this state of affairs is indeed lamentable. Obviously, the neo-cons will stop at nothing—including the murder of more Americans in a false flag terror attack—to realize their agenda.

Finally, Seymour Hersh casts suspicion on himself during the interview when he admits he did not bother to write an article on the neo-con casus belli brainstorming session because it did not go forward. "So I can understand the argument for not writing something that was rejected—uh maybe. My attitude always towards editors is they're mice training to be rats.. But the point is jejune, if you know what that means." It was "jejune" because Hersh believes the "American public, if you get the right incident, the American public will support bang-bang-kiss-kiss. You know, we're into it." (From YouTube)
