Refreshingly sharp like cardboard and plainly colourful with dull overtones sung tunefully flat. Strangely likable but sadly annoyingly boring. This actually tastes like how I imagine my home brew would taste….. Disappointing, only weaker.

A shot away from the beehive stinging with delightfully regal sniffs of a time once upon a time ago. Sharp to the taste but sweetly savoured.
Thumbs up. Even if it’s nearer a tenner than nothing.

A comfortable mattress, a warm contented soul and a creamy quilt cover. A dreamscape of purity done organically. Flowing drums that beat the competition into a blubbery mess. Standing over like a champion.
This is a good start and start as you mean to go on….

Diary of Sparring #13

Relax and let your opponent come at you. Let them throw wild shots while you smile back. Don’t let them think it hurts you. Last night I was so exhausted I could barely lift my arms after training so during sparring I had nothing left in the tank. Every leg kick I absorbed was a killer and every punch was potentially the knockout blow but I hung in and smiled my way through. Countering when I could stump up the energy. But made sure I constantly remained relaxed. My legs hurt this morning but no one would know it!

The journey to no iPhone – Pt. 2

Fancy going all weekend without using my phone. Well this weekend I did (apart from calling and texting) just that. The last charge was Friday night which meant from Saturday morning 100% charge to Sunday night down to around 20% charge left. I didn’t make a point of not using the device but naturally I’ll be using it less now I have removed apps I deem to be distracting, like the rss reader and silly games I dabbled in as a time wasting exercise. Now if I was to play a game then it’s socially with friends or with my daughters. If I want to catch up with my rss feeds then I dedicate some time to sitting down at the computer.
Slowly I am taking back the control my iPhone once had over me…..

Do I still need my iPhone?
Do I still want one?
Hmmmm…….

The journey to no iPhone – Pt. 1

So I’ve decided the iPhone is not for me after nearly 2 years of pushing it. But not just iPhone, by that I mean smart phones in general. This would be OK and make perfect sense if I disliked them or thought of them as useless but I don’t. I appreciate the power in your hands the usefulness of them and understand exactly how to get the most out of them. I don’t just use my iPhone for texting and calling!
So….
Why get rid? Well…..
Here I try to work it out….

The device is becoming a distraction. Apps telling me and doing things for me that are not required but I still find myself getting involved with. Even though I’m not interested I’m still reading it, playing it and interacting with it!

It will be February before swapping phones due to my current contract covering the cost of Internet usage. Which I wouldn’t need and therefore not willing to pay for. So until then I have some time to chew on the idea of downgrading models. It’s possible I change my mind before then and as some had already said come to my senses but only time will tell. Currently I’m excited by the idea of freeing myself from the trappings of the smart phone world of distraction.

The first step. Delete all games. I don’t play computer games anyway so why pretend I enjoy them on my phone. I’ve also deleted my RSS reader app. I love the RSS reader service google provide but I’d rather log in at my leisure and not as I found myself doing, which is constantly checking and then reading articles I’m not even that bothered about and thus waste time that could be spent doing something…. Well useful.

Do I still need my iPhone?

Today I drank a can of Del Monte pure orange juice with a best before date of March 2010…..
It’s October 2011.
Am I ill?
No
So….. Are we wrapped in cotton wool or is there a sense of over cautiousness by those that are worried about legal action because I may get tummy ache from food from the supermarket shelf? Tell me. Should I have been worried about drinking a product kept in almost perfect nuclear proof conditions? No of course not. Common sense is what tells use food is no good to eat. And that’s that.

Sharp trap jaw shut down hard under an oasis of the old dusty upholstered brass laden pub.
But….
A weak after taste…… Half way down and flavour has popped out and shows no signs of returning.
Shame really.

The Conker Hunters

Imagine the path under a conker tree to be blanketed by the colours of autumn. The crunching of leaves with every step. That’s where we went today. To somewhere I remember from last year being rich in conker pickings. Today though…… It was a treasure trove of conkers new and old. Every minute or so we’d here more fall from the branches above. We called it conker hunting but after one minute if being there I stopping calling them. Conker collecting was a more apt name. We only had one rule. No holes or cracks as I did spy a couple with maggots burrowing into them!

That said our harvest was massive.

Now to know what to do with a bag full of conkers?!
