Those damn Germans always have something interesting for us. Their latest unveiling of talented singer/songwriter by the name of Milky Chance is one that I can’t get enough of. Something about this guy’s sound and the feel of this song urge me to hit the replay button over and over again. He combines this heart warming vibe combined with a very atmospheric folk sound and raspy vocals to create this hippie masterpiece that makes you want to just close the blinds and stay awhile in whatever universe you feel comfortable. He is gearing up to drop his debut album Sadnecessary May 31st in Germany and we will be sure to have it up for y’all as soon as we can. I really encourage you to give this particular jam a chance, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Milky Chance – “Down By the River”

Fans of Krewella have been patiently awaiting this remix. Recently Pete Tong previewed this track on his broadcast and today it has been made available for purchase on Beatport. This is a classic remix from Hardwell and seems to be the perfect addendum to Krewella’s massive presence on US charts with the original.

I’m a big fan of the Finnish duo Maison & Dragen. They are a progressive house and trance machine, frequently releasing singles on such powerhouses as Zouk Recordings and its parent Armada Music. This is one of their recent releases, featuring mindblowing vocals from soul singer Jeremy Carr and plenty of that classic analog bass. Follow Maison & Dragen on facebook and soundcloud. Knife Party have pretty firmly entrenched themselves as a mainstay in EDM since appearing on the scene in 2011. Haunted House is their latest blow to people’s sanity since Rage Valley almost exactly one year ago. There are, as always, four tracks on the EP:

• “Power Glove”
• “LRAD”
• “EDM Death Machine”
• “Internet Friends” VIP mix

The first three tracks are new tracks (although I swear I’ve head at least two of them prior to this release) and are all house tracks both true to Knife Party form and totally original displays of creativity. The first, “Power Glove”, has a very complex, wide, heavily syncopated and occasionally orchestral arrangement. “LRAD” , which I can only assume stands for Long Range Acoustic Device, is more of a departure from what we’ve seen from Knife Party so far. It’s one of those really stabby, bass-centric big room house tracks that points more to the roots of house music than the future. As you can probably assume from its title, “EDM Death Machine” is classic Knife Party electro: creepy, nameless voice painting a bleak scene of the future, followed by robotic samples, into build up into a truly nasty drop. There are plenty more interesting aspects to this track which I won’t spoil. The last track on the EP was originally supposed to be a track titled “Baghdad”, but was replaced by a VIP mix of “Internet Friends”. I’m not a huge fan of VIP mixes, but I personally think this version of “Internet Friends” is an improvement over the original.

I’ve found a lot of the fans Knife Party gained with 100% No Modern Talking and Rage Valley are displeased with the new direction they’ve taken of late. While I personally enjoyed Rage Valley more than this new release, most of the reason I find them to be such an interesting group to follow is their ability to produce whatever they want to produce and have the outcome be both interesting and original and also recognizably theirs. Enjoy it.

I heard a couple weeks back that there was a contest for this C2C-”Happy”(Remix), but I recently stumbled on one of the latest submissions from Chill Bump. Well… I’m now wondering why there is even still a contest cause this is long over. Chill Bump absolutely merks this track and if you don’t at least tap your foot to this, there is a part of your brain that has gone missing. The original version of this song by C2C is absolutely awesome too, if you haven’t heard it, but gotta love when dudes enter contests like this and blow away everyone else. Give them a vote so they can seal the deal already. Vote Here! Also, scoop this track up for the summer, you won’t regret it.

C2C – “Happy” (Chill Bump Remix)

The first jam I’ve heard from singer/songwriter Max Frost is certainly a promising one. This guy is the jack of all trades as he plays every instrument used in this track, writes the lyrics, and lays down some awesome vocals over the top. From Austin, Texas Frost combines electro, pop, folk, and a hip hop vibe into his music. He has a very strong funk influence that reminds me of Citizen Cope with a more of a pop feel to it. Frost explains his musical creation process as “engineering a musical spaceship to fly into outerspace.” This is a great summer jam and certainly one that is a must download in my opinion. Stay tuned for more to come from this extremely talented artist in the near future.

Max Frost – “Sunday Driving” (feat. Kydd)

Thank God someone finally hopped on this track and did a hip hop twist on it. Ever since Ryan Hemsworth dropped this remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness”, I have wondered if a rapper would do their thing with it. Well, I honestly wasn’t expecting some emcee from San Francisco named A-1 to be the guy to step up to the plate, but damn am I glad he did. This dude lays it down over this crazy remix done by the wizard himself (Hemsworth is scary good). The lyrics of this song are actually incredibly real and really brings out the true sadness of the original song. Definitely cop this one and turn the volume a hard turn to the right, trust me.

A-1 – “Summertime Sadness” (Prod. Ryan Hemsworth)

Dave Patten is one of the most unique up and coming artists in the game right now and I am loving the way he is starting his up and coming project which will be here this summer. He has this different sound to his voice that in my opinion is insanely catchy to go along with his awesome story telling and lyricism. With Patten’s vocals and lyrics combined with a very funky jazz rock sound, these guys are on the fast track to success. Already signed to fellow Philly artist Meek Mill’s record label, the boys are poised to make a name for themselves in the coming year. This track is an awesome anthem to celebrate your squad. Not everyone is in a band, but everyone has that team of people that they roll with and mix shit up with. Also, Patten has some of the wildest and coolest music videos out there. He’s always keeping it “Let Me Introduce My Band” has me ready for a summer of shenanigans with my people back in Johns Creek, and I know we’ll be bumping this for sure.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Bass Physics. This duo out of Colorado is the next big thing coming out in the electro soul scene which is by far my personal favorite style of electric music. This grooving and funky track entitled “Old School Melody” is so smooth and had me bobbin’ my head from the second I pressed play. It also doesn’t hurt to throw in a Jurassic 5 sample that really gives a Pretty Lights feel (y’all know how I am about Pretty Lights).
