Starbucks was having a one-day 50% off their merchandise with a purchase of their handcrafted beverages.

I jumped at the opportunity to expand my Starbucks tumbler collection.

Here's what i got.

Ta-daa.. my brand new tumbler in green... matching the Starbucks logo and all...

I especially got this tumbler for its sliding lid to reveal the small sip slit. It's a newer version of the tumbler i hadn't seen before this. While it is something new, it's also different from my other Starbucks tumbler, as it slides to open and slides back with a click to close. COOL!

Tryst Cafe @ SS15/4C

It was a nice blue-skied Sunday when i decided to have brunch - cafe style. I was around Subang Jaya area when I stumbled upon Tryst cafe.
Loved the turquoise walls which reminded be of Kaffa cafe in Penang and though why not give it a try. And 'Tryst' (name of cafe) seems befitting for the moment.

I ordered the Tryst breakfast platter for RM13.

The breakfast platter came with alot of ingredients. There was the main toast & scrambled eggs, grilled chicken breast strips, bacon, mushrooms and salad & tomatoes on the side. Quite yummy... although nothing exceptionally special. I suppose the price of RM13 is expected. Not too expensive. Affordable lar...

Check-out the interior of this cool cafe... the wall art and decor reminds me very much of the cafes in Penang. Feels quite cozy here. Although there are not many tables in the cafe, there are tables outside for smoking patrons.

Being a cafe, they too offer a variety of cakes and desserts

See this cool standing lamp in a shape of a mannequin dressed in a yellow blouse and floral motif pants.

You could feel IKEA in their decor. Just look at the colourful display of IKEA cushions. Awesome.

Wall art.

Sat under the open roof area which let in some natural lighting...more wall art.

Had a satisfying brunch that lovely Sunday. And the bill came to a total of RM23. Quite affordable la..

Kinda like the lay-out and the decor of this quaint cafe located in SS15. Good place to hang-out and just chillax.

PS visited this place before GST. So... I'm not too sure of the current prices (after GST implementation)

Seaweed Club

Discovered seaweed club the other day. They offer salad wrapped in seaweed with a choice of the filling, be it chicken, tuna or plain salad (vegetarian style)

They also offer sets for 2 rolls with a free drink.

I bought the set.

I got the tuna roll. I usually get the chicken floss one, but since it was a friday in the month of Lent, I went with the seafood option :)

I had lots of left-overs from the batch of chicken pot pie i made the other day. So what better way to make use of it than to made chicken cornish! Just wrap the filling in puff pastry and bake. It's that simple.

What do you do when you're craving for chicken pot pie? Make them yourself! And that is exactly what i did *beaming proudly*

Step 1: Made your fillings. I fried cubed carrots, potatoes and onions. Then added the chicken.

Step 2: Made the sauce for the filling. A combination of milk, chicken stock and seasoning...

Step 3: Put fillings into separate ramekins... ooo things are getting interesting now...

Step 4: Cover filling-filled ramekins with puff pastry!

Step 5: Apply egg wash

Step 6: Bake! I'm using a toaster oven, btw.

Step 7: EAT!

Step 8: Take lots and lots of photos!!! hahaha....

What do you think? Restaurant worthy?

Dinner for one... Sushi & Ice cream

Went to Sakae Sushi last month because I misread the 50% off promotion. *sneaky little bastards* Ok, I blame myslef! But it was a nice dinner. *Honest face*

It was their member's promotion thinggy where you get 50% REBATE for all coloured plates you order. You still had to pay the full amount for the plates, just that they give you 50% rebates in your members' card. Sounds the same kot...

Anyway, I had a good meal nevertheless...

And then I had Baskin Robins Jamoca Almond for dessert

In retrospect, I still sort of got the 50% value back in terms of rebates...right? until...

Set meal @ RM 19.90 with a free pink plate of your choice

I back went to Sakae Sushi again last week and ordered their set meal. *Loyal customer I am - feeling proud :)* Loved the Salmon Mentai....it cost only RM19.90 with a free pink plate of your choice. (Pink plates costs RM3.99 normally). The set also came with a bowl of miso soup and a bowl of rice.

and when i went to pay for my meal, hoping i could use the rebates collected earlier to offset my dinner, their system was under maintenance at the time.

SIGH...

maybe next time LAH...

Local Breakfast - KL salty style?

Prices are undoubtly higher in KL than say Penang or Ipoh..

Had breakfast in Cheras recently and ordered Pan Mee. Cost me RM5 bucks... came with shreds of minced pork with was super super salty. and salted ikan bilis, with salty ikan bilis flavoured soup containing 2 *luckily not over salty* meat balls

I had teh tarik which cost RM1.90 and had very little amount of sugar.... hmphh.

The Pan Mee .. as in the actual noodle without the ingredients actually tasted nice. *surprisingly*

As a consumer and a tax paying adult, I can't help but wonder the effect of GST on my own spending lifestyle...

It's Sushi King's Bonanza time! It was held from 23-26th March 2015 and boy did I knock myself out with sushi!

Amids the forth coming GST on all goods and services, many people like myself have been trying to spend as much and stock-up before GST kicks-in come April 1st.

I went to Sushi King Midvalley for the Bonanza where all coloured plates costs only RM3. Well, previous years it cost only RM2 per plate... I guess because of inflation and now GST, things will keep going up *sigHH*

Usually red plates and purple plates cost RM4.99, RM5.99 each. Now they're going for RM3 flat! Pink plates were RM3.99 each on normal days.

Imagine the long long queues at all their outlets during the Bonanza period...

I tried to reach at any 1 outlet by 5.30pm just to beat the queues.

Everyone's table is given a time limit of 45min and there's no take-away for RM3 per plate unless you wanna pay normal prices for it.

This is the time you want to take advantage of the bonanza to order all kinds of dishes which you normally won't because of the prices. *all smiles*

Kingsman: The Best Spy Movie of 2015

Kingsman: The Secret Service has got to be the best spy movie of 2015! It's got the British accents and the smart looking Colin Firth & seasoned actor Michael Caine all rolled into one! Oh.. and not forgetting new comer, Taron Egerton.

Spoilers Alert! If you haven't already seen the movie. Stop right now and GO WATCH IT.

Enjoyed the comedy and action scenes. Although I guess they could use less of the F-bombs. And the blood-shed scene was ... urgh. Too bad Colin Firth's character dies.

The part where there was a training session to pick a replacement Kingsman reminded me of the Hunger Games. Somehow, almost all the movies I see now have an element of the Hunger Games in it. The Maze Runner, The Divergent Series, and now the Kingsman:The Secret Service.

All hail Hunger Games for being so original!

Harry Potter will never be forgotten for bringing magic back :)

Back to blogging about food!

I went to Citta Mall the other day, for reasons that warrants another blogpost. (me trying to create anticipation.. hehe) After the main agenda, I was hungry and looked around for a nice eatery for a late, late lunch.

This is where i stumbled upon Baci! I remember having a member's card for Italliannis called 'Pinch of Salt' with the logo Baci on the back affiliated with the card. This means I could collect / redeem points at Baci too! Yay!

So Baci for lunch it is.

I was feeling a pasta craving coming along... so I ordered the Spaghetti Beef Carbonara from their Pasta selection.

Here's what came... it looked delightful. Mouth watering... and yummy for my tummy.

At Baci, they also offer coffee and sandwiches....

And free self-service plain water...

This meal cost me RM17.90, no service tax because it's self-service... I like!

Warehouse Sales 2015 : Charles&Keith , Pedro (Part 3)

Went to SSTwoMall in PJ today because of the Charles&Keith , Pedro , Victoria Secret clearance sale - before GST begins.

Spent almost forty minutes queing to get into the parking lot and then looking for a parking space. THen, when i got into the mall, I was met with a string of people in queues all trying to get into the main arena. I started queing at 12.15pm. It was a good 45min queue before i actually got in.

Finally was at the entrance of the sale at 1pm...

Was telling myslef that this had better be worth my time and energy queing...

And at the end of the day, no it was not worth it! I didn't buy anything apart from one super old and dirty pouch by Charles&Keith at the ASIS section. Cost me RM20 - TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT! I stupidly paid just for the sake of it. *pathetic*

The shoes were going for RM49 - 109... (if i vaguely remember). Note to self: Not to go to any SHOE sale anymore! Because I have several NEW pairs of CLARKS & SCHOLL shoes which are leather and in the size that fit!

Shoe sizes for local/asian brands then to be really small on me. Sigh.... I've learnt my lesson.

Was out of the place in under an hour. Yes, half the time I was queing to get in. Stupidity at it's best.

To make matters better, one guy who was talking super loudly on his phone said the Pedro shoes for guys were super cheap! I suppose if you pay close to RM50-100 for shoes that normally cost RM300 above, then YES it is CHEAP...

Alas, I didn't find anything that fit my feet or struck my fancy.
The ulgy old dirty pouches did though. Sadly.

If you're a Victoria Secret fan, then there's a section selling all last seasons' VS products at 70% off, be it ipad cases, iphone cases, cosmetics, bags and undies.

The sale end 29th march. So if you're into shoes and such brands... head down to ssTwoMall tomorrow.

Warehouse sales 2015 (part 2) Reebok Haul

The upside of living in KL is the numerous warehouse sales that offer off-season items at low prices.
Amists the forth coming GST implementation come April 1st 2015, many business companies especially retail outlets have decided to hold massive warehouse sales.

These huge sales have in turn attracted large crowds of shopaholics amounting to additional road congestion and traffic jams these past week, ending tomorrow.
Here are some of the warehouse sales I managed to get into.

Woke up early this morning (unintentionally la... it's a Saturday wei) cause the damn aircond rosak.
Anyway I headed off to Sunway for the RSH bhd warehouse sales offering sports items, clothes and accessories at bargain prices.

Reebok bags were going for 50% and 40% off. Most were costing over a hundred ringgit orginally. So even after the discount, it was about RM50 and above. I wasn't looking for a bag, so the discounted price couldnt tempt me to buy on a spree.

There were swim wear and polo shirts all on sale too. The pink one here on the left was going for 50% off (original price was RM69.00) as can be seen in the photo.

Many shoppers were there for the main attraction - Reebok shoes! They also carried other brands like adidas and puma. But it was Reebok that many were after. Not bad.. one guy got a pair for 60% off, original price was over RM300 and he got it for around RM160 plus.
I tried my best to get a pair. What with the up coming marathons that i'd sign-up for. But alas, they did not have them in my size.

Here's what i got instead. Total damaged was under RM150 ... thankfully. The guy who went before me at the cashier paid a total of RM650 for his family's finds. I think it was a family of 4 - two adults (the parents) and two kids (probably ages 9 & 4). Keng!

Reebok Haul Break-Down:

Reebok's Skinny Capri from their 2012 playdry colleciton. I got a pair of Bluemove tights at RM49 (originally RM119)

Love the waist band contract colours with brand logo on it.

My next buy was a pair of shorts - supposedly for work-out. And it's also from the playdry material.

It's a fiited pair of shorts from Reebok's 2013 collection. Was attracted to the awesome purple and blue hues. Again, similar waist band patterns oberved. This pair cost RM45 (originally RM89)

I did say I wasn't into getting a bag. Well, I did also say that I was joining a marathon in the near future and so when i came across this waist pouch, how could i pass it up? hehe
Got this navy blur pouch at 40% off the original RM49. Paid RM29.40 for it.

It's got 3 zippers for 3 separate compartments.

Next-up are 2 pairs of socks. One in pink and the other in black.

Aren't the pink and white stripes just adorable? They also have a non-slip base with phrases " Ready to Rebel"

Originals cost RM25. Got it for RM13 today

Original price was going for RM25 - got it for RM12.50

The black pair also have non-slip phrases " Dont' Stop The Beat" in lime green for contrast. Super happy with my haul..

THe warehouse sale has been on from 25-29 March. So, tomorrow's the last day.

Warehouse sales 2015 (part 1) Bonita, Elianto, Tiamo haul

The season for warehouse sales are back! There's another reason for having these sales now. GST is-a-calling come April. THus, the month of March is the last month for shoppers to stock-up before the 6% GST will be imposed on goods and services. Business companies are also taking this opportunity to clearance sales to rid of last seasons' stock to make space for new stock.

First a summary picture of my Haul @ Bonita,Elianto,Tiamo clearance sale in Cheras,KL.

Since Easter is coming, I thought why not get these super cheap nail polishes to paint and decorate the Easter eggs as a possible project for the season.

My next find is this Mint coloured Jelly handbag. The colour is so pretty I couldn't resist. What with the irresistable price too RM20!

I woke up this morning like all mornings. It was a Monday. The start of the week. And the weekends had just ended.

As per usual, I pick-up my Samsung Note 4 and started looking through Facebook and Twitter.

Scrolling, I came across a tweet - It carried the news of the passing of Singapore's founding father : Mr. Lee Kuan Yew at 3.18am on 23.2.2015 at the age of 91, at Singapore's National University Hospital. Almost immediately, I tuned into Channel News Asia and true enough, it was showing memoriam videos and historical clips of Mr Lee Kuan Yew as Prime Minister of Singapore during his early political life right up to the time of his passing.

I learned of how great a visionary he was. How world leaders looked upon him as a mentor and teacher. How he made Singapore what it is today. Amazing.

Watching his old rally speeches, I admire how eloquent he was and continued to be until the very end. What he set out to do, he did.What a remarkable individual. A double starred, 1st class honours Law degree holder from Cambridge. Top of his class. Better than his Cambridge peers. What a role model to look-up to.

Yes, you read right! My blog is a-l-i-v-e again! Hear my confessions here

So I'm back and ready to blog!

I though i'd share with you peeps out there a little hobby i only recently cultivated - Baking!
Ever since moving into this new place of mine, I brought a long several survival tools. Amongst them is none other than your trusty microwave oven. I know my brother has been going on-and-on, and on about how microwaving your food might be a health hazard and all, I can't help but see it for all its convenience and efficiency in heating your food and cooking within minutes.

Hands-up all you microwave users out there!

And... recently, I found this YOUTUBE video showing you how to make cakes and quiches - in a mug in seconds! Sounds amazing right?
The best part of it all is that the portion size is for ONE. So i don't over eat and don't have to do a bunch of messy clean-up. I'm literally screaming awesome!

Here's a batch of muffins I baked in a Microwave.

Sample of my homemade muffin. It's cooked through and through in just minutes. Soft and fluffy and fresh. Yumz!

For those of you who were wondering, I used emergency chocolate bars for the chocolate bits in my muffins. Delish!

For the sake of experimenting, I also baked a batch of muffins using a mini electric oven. These took 30 mins as oppose to 5 mins in the microwave.
The results? See for yourselves...

The oven baked ones had a lovely golden brown crust over the top and bottoms. Tastes just as good.. and if I must say so myself, looks so much better than the microwaved ones.

Hiatus... The Fault with Picasa Web.

Notice how I tried to imitate John Green with the title of this blog post? "The Fault With Our Stars"? Ring a bell? lame i know... nevermind.

The whole point with this blog post is to explain my long long hiatus from blogging. I solely blame PICASA web for it. As you all know by now, i have been using picasa web for uploading my blog photos. It was a marvelously convenient way for me to blog & post my photos from my phone to my blog. Yeah... those were the days

Picasa web back in 2014 suddenly went crazy on me. It decided to NOT function with my Internet Explorer browser. Big SIGH! I couldn't upload pictures and everytime I tried, picasa would hang on me. Talk about a trust worthy friend ditching on you... *Sobs*

Anyway, it wasn't until early March 2015 that I found out the problem. It was because Picasa would only function with Google Chrome... and not Internet Explorer... SIGH!! (Correct me if i'm wrong). So anyways, I got a new computer with Google Chrome installed. And my problems were OVER.. Yay!

So back to blogging I am!

New beginnings, New place!

Hello all of you!
It's been really long since I last posted - 6 months to be precise! Really sorry about that. A lot of things have been going on lately and I was very very busy in getting things together...

Big news peeps, I've moved to KL!!
These past few months have been super hectic with me moving to my new old apartment and starting work at a new place.

I'm beginning to get settled in my new place and my new working environment as well as my new routine! So, life here is pretty different from back home.

As for blogging, well, I'll be blogging about KL foods... and Penang foods whenever I go back home.

So, to start the ball rolling again, here's a post about my recent pre-birthday brunch and birthday celebration! Yay!

Had a lovely brunch in Bangsar at a bakery cum café called Tous Les Jours. I ordered an iced latte and a peach pastry. Delish!

They also have breakfast set meals too!

AHMO @Irrawady Rd, Penang

I've been wanting to visit this place since a long time ago... but never found the time to.. until recently.

AHMO is situated along Irrawady Road in Burmah Square. It's on a one-way street, so the best thing is to drive-in from Service road.

AHMO gets its name from the hokkien word 'angmo' for 'orang puteh' or westerners. The full description about how AHMO came about is written in the place card like in the picture above.

The ambiance of the place is classy. AHMO is set in an old residential house which was converted. The wooden beams remind me of the olden days, although they did a good job in updating the place with wall paper art. More of the décor in the pictures below...

On to the food. They serve a mixture of western and local delights and their menu offers a good variety. It took us some time to look though their menu. We finally decided and ordered one plate of fish & chips and one plate of chicken croissant .

They also offer sets... for an additional fee, you get a bowl of soup and drink...

Their prices are really affordable... and I liked the soup the best. We had mushroom soup that day :)

Kaffa Expresso Bar @ Green Hall, Penang

Penang is a brimming with new and classy café houses. Here, there and everywhere you can see nice and sometimes quirky cafés offering good food and aromatic coffees. One such place is Kaffa Espresso Bar. It is the second outlet in Malaysia and the Penang one is situated at 22 Jalan Green Hall.

Like I mentioned earlier, they offer drinks AND food... although the selection for food is limited. I went on a weekend... and there were already many tables taken...Had to wait for my food...

Caramel Macchiato

I ordered a highly recommended drink (i think I read it on foursq) called the Caramel Macchiato which cost a bomb! It came in a enamel coated metal mug to give it that vintage look. Well, almost all their coffees are served in it. I personally didn't think much of the metal mugs... except that my mug had the enamel chipped off over the rim of the mug and that had me drinking rusty bits of the mug rim.. not a big fan of the mug... :(

Like the name of the drink, this caramel macchiato was light in coffee taste (just the way I like) and sweet salty from the caramel... though on the pricey side..

As for food, I ordered the Spaghetti Aglio Olio with turkey ham. The portion was big (Thumbs up for that) and tasty :) However, I found mine too spicy... could taste a lot of the chilli & black pepper in it...

Loved the interior décor of the place. Environment was relaxing, except when the place gets crowded and noisy...

New Year 2014 Indulgence

This year, as you all already know, I spent New Year's Eve and New Year's in Singapore. And what better things to do in Singapore than to shop. shop. and do more shopping!!

I took advantage of the tourist privileges and went to my favourite luxury brand COACH. From the amount of time and money invested in purchasing Coach items, I should think Coach should reward me for my unwavering loyalty and now, clearly, free publicity! haha. So, Coach peeps, if you ever get to read by blog, I'm a HUGE fan and would like to get paid for talking endlessly about your lovely bags!! haha :)

Anyway, I digress. (sorry) Here's what I splurged on, on New Year's DAY 2014! Not one, but TWO brand new Coach bags!

As soon as I got back to Penang, I checked-out the prices here and it was going for RM900 without discount. So I kinda got it for a really good deal in Singapore (this is with the 10% discount and 7% GST refund) - I'm soooooo happy!!! AND on top of it all, Penang didn't have it in Black... it was all sold out! I'm SUper LUCKY!

Please allow me to gush on my other Coach purchase~! Introducing the Coach leather colourblock New Willlis in the colour purple! Well, to be accurate, this bag has a mixture of 3 different colours on it - purple, grey and dark blue. Super thrilled to have bought it!

AND because I got the bags, the Coach shop in Singapore gave me a chance to personalise the bag tags for free - Absolutely AWESOME-fied!!! You can imagine, I was on cloud 9!

New year's eve countdown to the new year was celebrated at The Float @ Marina Bay, Singapore and in conjunction with MediaCorp's 50th Anniversary, they had invited celebrities like Wang LeeHom and The Wanted (british boy band) to perform!!

There were fireworks and great performances in stored for everyone

I thoroughly enjoyed by New Year's EVE in Singapore!! Super lucky to have experienced this once in a lifetime event... AWESOME!

I was in Singapore just after Christmas and flew back on New Year's day in the evening. Best Christmas cum New Year's holiday EVER!
