I'm moving out friends... to a better, bigger and brighter website. From thoughtsofartisan.blogspot.com.. to... designsofartisan.com. Definitely with a different look and feel and with more inspiring posts.

Wow... I can't believe that I was able to do this... it was a 2-year wish lists and now I can finally put a check mark on that. {A pat on the back for me!} Although, please be kind and bare with my site. It's not perfectly done yet, since it's my first time to make my own site. Second to be exact, this is my very first site project, Green Tomato Weddings. But I'm trying to customized it little by little... please be patient if you see some errors.

I had a wonderful experience with Blogger. This is where I started and I found the love for blogging. I had a little battle within me whether to move this or not. However, I've thought of expanding and thinking of designing websites as well. That's why moving out to Wordpress would be a very practical reason.

I feel a little sad, I don't know why, but somehow I know change is good. And I'm looking for a greener pasture. I hope you'll still be with me as I move along my site. I'll be bringing some of my posts in the site like the Wedding 101 and etc. But most of the archives here will still remain.

It's a wedding month

They used to call it June Bride. But I heard a lot of bridal fairs for this month. So, I guess, July is the new June, LOL.

Anyway, my blog has not been updated frequently as much as I wanted to. And seriously, they are a lot of things going on in the studio. Hence, the highlight would be this coming July 8, 2011 because Artisan Design Studio is celebrating its 2nd year anniversary. And OMG, 2 years in this field and I have not prepared anything for my readers, clients and even for my staffs. As in totally no plans for now. Somehow, it's giving me a little tingling feeling of panic, haha. But on the other hand, I work best under pressure, hopefully {crossing my fingers}.

Apparently, this week had been such a frantic in the studio. Non-stop of printing, cutting and glueing. On top of that, we will joining a bridal fair held by Pearl Farm Beach Resort at their Marina this coming July 9. That's another thing that I'm preparing for. Which I'm quite excited {but still unprepared until today} because I'll be doing a different set-up this time.

Anyway, since we will be celebrating July Bride and it's our anniversary month, I'll be posting about Wedding 101, as a gratitude to our beloved clients and readers for the 2 years of creating my dreams into a reality.

Snail mail swap

Snail mail never fails to put a smile on my face... and when one of my daily blog reads, Creative Collection, organized a swap like this, when I read about it, can you imagine how big my smile was?

Anyway, I just thought, I'd share what I sent to my 3 partners. I prepared some paper goodies like postcard, gift tags with twines and book plates, all handmade from my Etsy store. Then I wrapped it with doily and a ribbon.

I really hope that this parcel will make my partners smile like how I feel every time I received one.

Leewee + Judy

I have to admit... it's really hard to write something for someone you know. I don't know if you feel the same way, but I feel conscious about it. Thinking they might read it and what they may think about what you write. Good thing, I am not a journalist or a profesional writer.

Anyway, a friend since high-school named Noche referred his brother, Leewee and fiancé, Judy to my little studio for their wedding invitation. The theme was garden or zen but they wanted to have a formal feel for their invites. I truly feel honor to design this for them. And speaking of honor, this couple are actually lawyers. Cool huh?!

The invitation was a folded envelope with a pocket inside for the other cards. The main card was attached to the envelope and the Principal Sponsors and Entourage, with a small R.S.V.P. card were inserted in the pocket.

This was my first draft. Printed envelope and 3 separate cards with a monogram seal.

This is the look of the envelope, front and back...

And the overall look of the invitation. Zen theme with moss green and brown for the motif.

However, the bride wanted a simplier style. So we removed the design of the envelope except for the brown flap and changed it to gold metallic instead. The illusion of the belt on the first draft wast retained, but with a real attachment already with monogram seal and guest's box as one.

We also added white rhinestone on the florals {unfortunately, not shown in the photo}. The belt on the other hand was my favorite. I think it gave a unique feel rather than using the usual monogram seal. What do you think?

Black and White is classic

I normally design cute themes for the Debut invitations, such as: fairies, angels, butterflies or simply colored motifs. But this time, it's different! A classic design for a young lady.

Who would have thought, this young beautiful lady named Miranda wanted her debut to be classic. A black and white theme... simple yet elegant is what I can describe about the design I made for her. See for yourself...

The invitation consists of 4 cards with 5x7-inch size. The main card is printed on a #220gsm glossy paper with metallic silver on all corners. Her photo was at the front and the event details was the back. The other 3 cards were the 18 roses, candles and treasures, printed on a parchment paper to give a silhouet feel. The envelope was also a parchment paper.

It may be an unusual theme, but somehow, it stands out from our portfolio. Since it's classic and different.

Mad hatter for Wedding Souvenir

My creativity was challenged again with a little time on the clock. But I realized, I work best under pressure. {If you're like me, raise your hand! Lol} I know it's really a bad attitude, but somehow, the adrenaline rush really pushes me to be more productive. But seriously, that's not a good practice.

Anyhoo... the goal was to make a Mad Hatter souvenir box for a wedding. They will give it as a souvenir for their entourage. The box was approximately 8x9-in. They wanted it big so they can fill it with big goodies too. This was really a challenge for me plus these boxes will be sent out to Manila, so I have to think of something that's detachable.

Thank you adrenaline rush and I was able to find a way how to do that. The hat can be folded but it consists of 4 separate papers attached together. Then the base was a separated and has a bored to support what's inside.

The goodies were just used for props. Those chocolates I got from my swap partners in Swap-bot {Finland chocolates were so yummy}.

I was really happy that the coordinator, who ordered it thru my multiply account, and the bride loved the design and how it turned out.

e-Greeting cards for Free!

I had a privilege to design a "e-greeting card" for my friend Rochelle's new website, it's called Let's Make Greeting Cards. A site all about greeting cards... I'm sure you'll find it useful, specially if you love doing things by your hand and add some extra touch.

She listed down the tools and materials you'll be needing, added some quotes for various occasions, and wonderful card designs to choose from. But what I love most is she also has free printables... and this is where I came in, hihihi.

This is totally my first time to collaborate with a fellow crafter and and I'm so happy and excited, all at the same time. So the moment, the e-cards were live, I downloaded from the site right away and printed my own copy, hihi. Since I'm not really not that creative in a non-digital craft, I just added a simple curve on the edge just so to add a little touch to it.

As of the moment we still have 5 designs: Happy Birthday and Father's Day cards. I hope you'll find them useful specially Father's day is almost coming up. You can choose from the 2-designs and add more embellishments on it. The green card was from my last year's printable. You can also add some lovely quotes from the site.

These are the 3-designs to choose from for the Happy Birthday cards. I think real buttons attached on the button cards will really add an extra feel on the card.

I truly feel grateful to be part of this site and more ecstatic to share these cards so you can give them to your love ones. Feel free to add your own creativity from the card. Card to impress

Did I mention that I love designing calling cards? Well, I really do... Specially if the client is open for creativity and unusual design. I can't imagine the possibilities you can make for that small card, but the important thing is it will give an impression to your prospect clients.

I had a privilege to design a photographer's business card. I haven't met her yet, but we have common friends. Can you believe how small the world is? Her name is Ayie and when I saw her photographs, I fell in love with 'em right away. I really admire these kind of photos, the feel of vintage and dreamy. I normally see them from the blogs I read and now I see the same style here in my own city. Which I truly feel proud for some reasons. Go check her photographs on her facebook account so you'll know what I'm talking about. But here are some of her lovely photos.

I came up with two business card designs that also suits her photography. The circle shape was her idea and from there, I did my style with the inspiration of her photos of course... {did I mention her photos are really beautiful? lol}. I used one of her photos for the Design 1, and for the Design 2, I made it clean, simple and chic with the plaid and 1 color tone.

She chose Design 2 and here's the final output.

Now don't you just think these cards will make an impression? =)

Sweet desktop wallpaper

Just recently, I've been addicted to desktop wallpapers. Surprisingly, {I shouldn't be actually, since internet has everything you need, right?} But I was really amazed that there are a lot of generous people who shared their design for wallpapers.

So, my smiles were up to my ears as I see many wonderful wallpaper designs. However, I got so overwhelmed with all the choices that I had a hard time choosing from all of them. I ended up almost everyday, I changed my wallpaper, hehehe...

I have to lessen the choices for you, so you won't have to feel overwhelmed like me, but I'm sure you'll find more after this.

Dustan + Belle

We had this quite popular style of invitation which is from Mark+Rina and also from Ned+Eunice. I believe, most of our clients find it simple and classic.

So one of our clients, an event coordinator, thought of combining the two designs. She find Mark+Rina quite big, but she liked the envelope style. On the other hand, she also liked the invitation card of Ned+Eunice.

We actually had multiple choices, three design revisions. Until finally this is what we came up with... Invitation card from Ned+Eunice and the envelope design from Mark+Rina. A smaller version with a little twist.

It's approximately 7-in wide if folded and 4-in tall, with parchment paper as inserts for the sponsors and entourage. Then we also added a photo at the back of the parchment and a gift card.

I'm thinking of a different design with a simple yet classic look for clients who prefer this kind of style. If you have any ideas, I would to hear them out too...

Else Where...

I only started blogging almost two years ago and I never thought I would reach this far... to meet new friends, have followers and readers, inspire other crafters, and my work being admired. But the best of it all, is to be recognized and be featured on the blogs of others.

I truly feel grateful to be part of somebody else's blog. I mean who wouldn't right? Blogging is not as easy as it may looked like and being recognized is an achievement.

Here are the lovely blogs that generously featured my work and blog.

Sweet Tidings - I'm proud to say that Christy is also from the Philippines. And her blog is one of my daily dose of inspirations. Christy loves kawaii products and her blog talks about that and mostly inspiring ideas from paper to fabrics and recipes. I was so happy when she informed me that she included one of my stationery set on her blog post Paper Trail. I believe this is my first product feature.

Paperklip - I found Melinda's lovely blog from my first swap by Calico and Co. She was my partner and gladly she loved the paper goods I've sent her as she mentioned here... From then on, I was in love with her blog and her work as well.

iDo Love this - A blog also based here in my city, Farrah, who was just getting married back then. I was so happy that my blog inspired her to create her own. I also had the privilege to design her invitation {which I haven't posted yet} but you can check it from here.

Paper Dreams of Mine and Craftroom Spaces - My very first time to received an email of admiration about my work was from Rochelle. Same with Farrah, I was really glad that my blog inspired her too, but I was more glad to find a friend like her who's also a craft enthusiast. I also had the privilege to design her guest book for her wedding.

Now, she has two blogs, Paper Dreams of Mine is all about her craft with lots of digital freebies. She loves creating cards and she made one specially for me {how sweet is that?}. I just love that she keeps on mentioning me on her blog {thanks so much Rochelle}. The second one is Craftroom Spaces, it's all about tips and ideas for your craft spaces, and my printable Summer flowers was featured there.

Scribbled by Krizann - I held a giveaway last January, and the lucky winner for my was from Kristine, and she post about it on her blog. I can see how she was happy with her vintage calendar and that made me happy as well.

I can't help smiling and feeling grateful for these people. I never really thought, I would reach this far. I wouldn't have known that someone aside from my sister and friends would read my blog, serioiusly. On the contrary, it was them who inspires me to create more beautiful designs and be better in what I'm doing. Thank you so much for featuring my work in your blog {I think I'm gonna cry now... hihihi}. Happy weekend friends...

Angels and Fairies at 18

We had a rockstar theme invitation before and now same orientation but with different themes. Aside from being a princess, most young teens dream of being an angel and fairies.

These invitations were designed by my partner Heintje of StudioBooth. I love how he designed them because it's just full of details.

First one would be an angel... our debutant's name is Princess, so basically, she's both an angel and a princess on her debut. {Wow, hitting two birds with one stone there girl! lol}. Princess is actually Heintje's cousin, and Artisan is delighted to make our partner's cousin invitatation.

The second design is has a fairy theme. Not a cousin anymore but of course we are still grateful to design a teenager's debut invitation. She's January and I just love how her photo coordinate with the design. Don't you think so?

I wonder what theme we would be making for this kind of orientation next time...

Summer flowers

This is probably too late for the season but I'll share it anyway. You might still want to use it regardless what season it is.

So the whole summer, we filled our window display with flowers and this is what it looked like. It's feels like our window had a little garden of its own.

Of course, these summer flowers are free printables for your own use. You can stick them in the wall of your room or glass windows as well. You can download them here: Flower 1; Flower 2, Flower 3.

Back in the old days Bookplate

Do you still remember the last time I had a preview for my bookplate? Finally, we were able to packed them all together and ready for sale in my Etsy shop and will also display them in Yellow Hauz.

It has 2pcs. of each design and there are 5 different designs. The size is around 2.5x3-inches, enough room for your address. Printed on a gloss sticker so it won't get wet easily, but don't worry, I've tried it with normal pen and you can write on it perfectly.

As the collection says "back in the old days" they're based from the old paper designs we used to write on. My favorite is the envelope design... reminds me of the snail mails... how about you?

Lomo Postcards

The hardest part in posting my items in my shop is actually taking photos... so far, I never had problems on what to write about but instead, the reason behind for my delay posts is actually the photos...

So today, I really tried to update my Etsy shop. Finally, I took photos of my latest items for my shop. Hope you'll like my new items...

Recently from my travels, I had an appreciation for postcards.... I enjoyed buying from the stores and collecting postcards from my swap-bot partners. Then came a new collection for my postcard. Apart from my vintage designs. This time, I incorporate my photos with it... I now have a Lomo set postcards.

In a set you'll find 4 lomo photos from my trips to Samal island and General Santos City. Nature is such my favorite subject. My favorite photo is the one with the pot, how about you?

Address label

If you've been following my blabbing, you would know how addicted I am with packages... either sending or receiving them makes me sooo giddy! Luckily, there's a site who makes people like me happy and enjoys swapping so much and that's swap-bot. And my package obsession have been suffice!

The point of my story is... because of this craziness {as my sister would say about me, lol} I've designed my own address label for all my packages. And now, my mails look clean. Aside from using stamps and stickers this address label makes my life easier in writing my address.

Been blog quiet for awhile but now I'm back! I'm quite adjusting again on how to write something, and it's really weird that it feels like I need to warm up thoughts...

So to start my thoughts running... I did my routine by updating myself from reading one of my favorite blogs through Bloglovin. Then, I saw this very cute video via Bananafish Studio. From then on, I fell in love with this notebook called Smash. A very practical way to keep your creativity. Go watch it, so you'll know what I mean...

DIY craft for Mother's Day

Advance Happy Mother's day to all the wonderful mothers in the world! Words are not enough to express how grateful I am for my mama and for my lola as well.

My sister and I always call my mom, super mom. Don't you just notice how they were able to do a lot of things? Well our mom is like that. She's busy with business and yet she can still manage to cook, help us or others, buy things for house, meet with friends, do this and that... Aaaah... good thing we're not kids anymore and she doesn't have to look up on us 24/7. I can't imagine how they do that. I'm not even a mom and yet I can't do a lot of things like she does. Whew! That's why moms are really supermoms! hihi

Here's my sister, mom and me from her last birthday. We surprised her with a cake and balloons in her room. Tomorrow, we're just gonna have a late lunch or early dinner since I'll be leaving for Manila tomorrow night, so it's just a simple celebration.

If you're planning a surprise for your lovely mom, this might help you prepare for it. A simple breakfast can really brighten her day and I saw these pretty printables from Jordan Ferney's blog Oh Happy Day. Oh you'll love her blog and not to mention she lives in Paris with her family. Hello new cup sleeves

In contrast of the lime green and maroon red colors of our interior and logo... we made it black and white for a change. I was excited as I design this since it's my first illustration work for Yellow Hauz.

We're introducing these today to our customers. I hope they'll like it...

Rockstar 18!

Do you still remember the last time you were 18? I can't hardly remember mine. But I can recall though that I was the one who made my invitation. It's not because I was really crafty by then, but more to lessen my expenses, hahaha... But anyway, it was not as unique as you can imagine since I was not a graphic designer then.

But since it's my business now, I make more unique designs than before {so don't worry my dear clients, LOL}. So, we would normally get a princess or girly theme, that's the usual theme for an 18 years old right? But this time, we have a different one... a RockStar theme! And I liked it! My creativity was fueled up since it's a new thing for me.

This is not my style, but I think I pulled it through and the celebrant liked it too...

We added some embellishment like the chain and put it as the invitation's lock. Now it totally rocks!

Then I used color red inside to give contrast on the black side...

I just love the chain. I really think it gives the umh factor, hahaha... I can really say, this is a unique theme. What do you think?

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! But here in the Philippines {and I believed most Christians}, we are celebrating a holy week since last Thursday.

My family missed the traditions this year. We used to visit churches in the evening, go to Shrine, attend masses and all the other rituals. However, this year, we didn't do any of those...

But on the other hand, it was my mom's birthday yesterday, we just celebrated it by eating fish and stayed in the house the whole day, so no birthday tradition either. But there's one tradition in my father's side that we didn't missed, and that is the Binalay. A native kakanin, made by my lolo during this time of the season {hope to get a photo of this delicious kakanin}.

Anyway, as part of celebrating easter, I wanted to share a downloadable template/s that has multi-purposes. The first one can be use as menu label, name plate for your guests or even a gift tag. The second one can be a cupcake toppers and gift tags too.

It was my birthday!

Oh! I'm such a very bad blog author, and I'm truly sorry for that. As much as I wanted to update my blog, I would normally rest. And from that thought, I really applaud my favorite blog authors. I know now why they have a lot of readers and sponsors, and that's because they really put time and effort on it. But enough about my lack of posting, and more of what happened.

Last April 14th, I celebrated my birthday... my 27th birthday to be exact. Yes folks, another awesome year for me. I'm truly thankful for all the blessings I have, for the people who surrounds me with love and for everything I've achieved. I know, this year is gonna be great! More blessings and achievements to come!

That day, I never really thought it would be filled with surprises and warm greetings from my facebook account. Since I didn't plan for any party, I just thought, I would be spending it quietly. But that day was amazing...

First, my family tradition would always start our birthdays with a mass and have breakfast. But since my sister was in Manila, it was just me and my mom who celebrated the tradition.

Then we visited my grandma and grandpa. My lola is the sweetest! She would always remember the birthdays in the family. She never fails to call the celebrant in the morning, and cook noodles in their house for long life even if she won't see the birthday celebrant. So this time, I visited them for a change, bought congee. I can really see how happy they are to see me, and I was also happy to see them.

Then when I went back in the studio to start working, my Artisan girls surprised me with sweet notes with Spongebob posted in my office. I didn't expected that at all and I was really touched by it.

Apart from their letters, they also gave me slippers. They also bought for themselves and we all have the same design.

But it was in the afternoon that was really the dramatic. My mom told me to stay in the office because one of our suppliers will be need my signature. And so I did wait! When my crew called me up telling me the supplier was already waiting in Yellow Hauz, I brought my pen with me and ready to sign those papers. Surprisingly, it was my friend Che, who was waiting for me carrying a balloon inside the VIP room, and as I get closer to her, my sister was standing at her back carrying my all time favorite cake from Bistro, the Blueberry Charlotte. It really made me cry, because I didn't expect that my sister would actually go home for my birthday... {if you're reading this, I'm saying "ahhh... you truly love me!" LOL}

It was actually their third birthday surprise for me. Last year, the emotion was also intense since I thought there was a burglar in my studio. That was also a funny story. But this year, it was drama, because they made me cry, hahaha... They always tease me that I'm so gullible and easy to surprise with. True indeed!

But the surprises didn't stop there yet. In the middle of our chit-chatting, the Yellow Hauz crew suddenly went inside and surprised me with flowers. That was also unexpected... and I was really happy about it.

And there... the day was filled with an overwhelming feeling, that I thought would be just an ordinary day for me. That's why I can say that this year would definitely be filled with more surprises, in career or love life maybe. Who knows right?

Thank you so much Mama, Sandy and Che for the wonderful surprise. For my Artisan girls and Yellow Hauz crew for making me feel I'm the luckiest boss in the world. If papa was still around, I could say, I wouldn't ask for anything more. But I know he's looking down on us and smiling. Hence, it was an amazing day for me!

One of my godchildren, Nica, celebrated her birthday last December. When mommy Cookie wanted an invitation with lollipop theme, I knew then what design I will be making...

And viola! Here's what I came up with... a pop-up lollipop! It's around 5-inches in diameter and 4-inches for the pop-up, then we wrapped the stick with ribbon and added another ribbon to make it more cute.

This is my first time to make a candy invitation, and I truly enjoyed it. What do you think? Do you also like it? I'm wondering though what else can I still add to make it more unique. Do you have any suggestions?
