The Spiritual Problem....

I am a great worshipper of Lord Shiva.There is no other god apart from him,that I feel a personal connect with.But before this wonderful relationship which I have with Lord Shiva now,there was a time when I had completely become an atheist.There was this complete chaos in my mind about gods,beliefs,temples etc and I realised most of my philosophies about god was picked by me from my surroundings.The environment in which I was bought up,the different religious books which I had read,the mythological stories which i had heard and many more such things that shaped my thinking about gods and formed a general philosophy about my spiritual side.Despite this general philosophy,I never felt truly connected with the divine or any such thing which would make me believe in god.
Going to temples to pray,lighting agarbattis and diyas in front of god's photo seemed a waste of time and nothing more.

During my time when I was an atheist,I decided to address my spiritual problem.

I tried hard to think what exactly was missing? Why can't I make & feel that connect with the divine? And the answer came immediately,clear,simple & logical. Expectation !!! As a worshipper of god,I had acted more as a trader than as a worshipper. All my praying,going to temples,lighting agarbattis and diyas,all were done to get something in return. I didn't remember a single time I went to the temple just for praying,there was always a reason be it exams,results or any such things. And even if I just went to any temple for having a darshan of the diety,in the larger context of my life I still expected one thing or the other from god. And to be honest,most people do.

But having found the reason why I could not connect with god,I tried to change the way I thought about god.I simply stopped asking something in return.I just prayed for 3-4 minutes in my entire 24 hours on the time I felt right without any agarbattis,diyas,visiting temples and any such thing.And the results were just amazing. I had become more clearer in my head,I had a clear understanding of my relationship with god and I didn't blame god for each and every misfortune I had in my life.It has also made me believe that god had given me this life,but he doesn't interfere in my life.My life is my own making and a result of my own actions and the most important of all,that I can have a pure relationship with him,without any expectations where i can pray to him peacefully.

Borrowed motivation doesn't last long....

Over the years growing up, I was always told to study hard and get good marks even though i hated studying. At that point I never asked myself the question why i actually hate it ? But now as I look back the answer seems pretty clear to me. When you do something and you don't know the proper reason why you are doing it, eventually you would hate that thing to do after some amount of time has passed.

Also there is this thing that when you do something you don't like,you need constant motivation or a push to keep doing that task. But to be honest borrowed motivation doesn't last long. No matter how many motivational videos you watch on YouTube or how many times you watch inspiring scenes from Hollywood films,borrowed motivation will eventually fizzle out after a period of time.

So basically the question is why does this happen? I feel motivation can't be borrowed from elsewhere and that it comes from within us.If you really like and love what you do,motivation comes from within to do it. If you don't like the work you are doing,no amount of borrowed motivation can help you.

I also feel motivation comes from within,when you feel the work which you are doing is important. If you don't feel the work which you are doing is important,then it is unlikely that you would take it seriously and be motivated to do it.

Why education system needs to improve all over the world...

What i want to talk about in this post is related to a topic which is very sensitive but important...a lot has been said about it,debated over and over again but a suitable solution is yet to come...

I believe before we even talk about education system lets just first define education,for i believe the very definition of education has somewhat become distorted among students.Education according to me is learning about the things around our surroundings,its composition ,different things on which research is going on all around the world and many more such things which can allow our mind to think on such interesting and important topics...

Now all such things which i mentioned above can be and is categorized into different fields namely physics,chemistry ,maths etc to name a few...but the problem which lies i feel is that while everything is categorized properly,creative learning seems to be missing from the picture.You see according to me learning is not just about knowing the facts,writing the same facts in exams and going on to the next level.It should be much more than that.It must help our students to introspect the things which they are learning,think about them and make their own theories and assumptions about them.

Now Education system first of all needs to be about education and not about the system.The system which manages the education must make education creative,intuitive ,self paced and interesting for students.And this can only be achieved through our schools because schools are the first place a kid goes,where he learn things.Therefore schools must at the initial stage make students understand the true meaning of education...

As with the boom of the internet a lot of crazy things have been happening,a lot of new ideas has been put to execution..Two of the sites which i found very interesting are: Khan academy and coursera. I saw a lot of interviews of sal khan and the flipping of classroom idea is absolutely amazing.To learn about the lessons at the comfort of your home through videos and to go to school and do home work sounds like a lot of fun and interesting...coursera on the other hand is also another great example of a great education platform..you can study at your own pace ,learn about new stuff for free...its really nice.

I absolutely believe that no system can be perfect...you do whatever there will be loopholes ...but what we can really do is to address those loopholes and make things better...we need to constantly evolve with the times for a better future...
