Tensions were slightly elevated (and rightfully so) as the weather seemed to be prove ornery on the morning of the wedding day. Tables were rushed inside alongside centerpieces and linens and caterers rearranged serving trays and relocated the wedding cake. Umbrellas sat like dark sentries awaiting battle in the foyer. The bride grimaced through windows as her guests scurried down the slick driveway seeking refuge.

Interestingly enough, the rain and wind allowed for people to gather indoors where it was much easier with rub shoulders with people you may not have in the sunshine. A sociological study may be in order. In the end, the rain ended and the skies were graced with a truly jaw dropping sunset that brought people out to the tiled lanai, where colors of orange and scarlet scorched the horizon…

Surrounded by friends and family from around the globe, Meredith and Yousef’s wedding was amazing. Adapting to a rain-contingent plan, the ceremony and festivities went off without a hitch. Verdalais, the location of the nuptials is a quaint and intimate bed and breakfast perched on a sloping green hills that roll down to the Pacific. It was a privilege to be in the company of such wonderful and diverse people who made the journey to celebrate the wedding of two world class people. Thanks again guys for the great time!

The seats are still too small in beetle class.

They looked beautifully roomy in business class.

The Qantas counter at LAX would sell us upgrades for $8,000.

Each!

I can’t sleep more than 30 minutes.

I wonder what that light is 30,000 feet below?

The crew chief is closing the window shades. I wonder why.

I think dawn is coming wherever we are.

I think it is 4:17 AM in Auckland right now.

Ugh. 5-6 more hours.

I have to pee. Too tired/lazy to move.

I like the neck pillows we bought.

I don’t like the cranky lady hogging a row so she can sleep.

I wanna sleep.

Did I say this plane is big?

So are the stars outside.

Took a good look at layout of seats. Will rethink for flight home. Lots of opportunity for “free upgrades.”
