I put on a 134, 42, and raised clip to top notch. I will test it tomorrow but would like to hear what others are using.
Much appreciated
Clutch is never fully disengaging

89 RMX 250, I noticed when I bought it, the clutch oil was milky. I confirmed I have an internal coolant leak from the loss of coolant after my first ride and my fresh gear oil was milky again. Can this cause clutch to never fully disengage? Or cause unwanted friction?

If I stop with the bike in gear I can keep it running by giving it a little throttle but the clutch gets very hot after a small amount of time. I have drained the bike of fluids and popped the clutch cover. I am about to pull the plates to look for any signs of why I still have so much friction with the clutch lever fully depressed. Im guessing the consistency of the gear oil changes drastically when mixed with coolant. Also the grooved pin in the middle of the clutch assembly that releases pressure is very loose.

Any advice thanks.

The guy is asking $1650 obo. Probably will give it to us for $1400 cash no title.
Should we go for it? I like to know what my fellow riders think before I make a stupid mistake.
yz250f will not start

So a little while back I messed with the fuel air mixture screw, and today I finally had the time to get back to it. I adjusted it rode the bike around my house when in second my bike stalled at a good speed almost throwing me over my handle bars, I then could not get it started. so I tried jump starting it and it almost did then backfired, and since then cannot get it to turn over. I starting checking things found the timing was off. fixed that put it back together and the kick start would not go down it was stuck I took it back apart to find the timing chain was sitting funky I fixed that but still was not able to get the kick start to move, but I was able to turn the crank case with a little muscle, I did not turn it much knowing something was wrong. I have not had the bike that long new to a lot of this stuff I do not know what to do next. I adjust the valves not to long ago never had a real ride on them. please help.
New Boyesen Reeds Not Laying Flat?

I have an 01 200 and just purchased new Boyesen Super Stock Reeds. I am feeling a little silly now because the reason I replaced the Reeds is because I could see light through the middle of the carbon fiber, teeny tiny little spots. Now that I have the new Boyesen Super Stock Reeds I can see the same thing through some of the clear parts of the carbon. Either way I figured it best to replace the Reeds since they have probably 200 hours and are 12 years old.

The issue I have is that the original Reeds lay perfectly flat against the reed cage and with the new ones I can see light underneath. I read the Boyesen instructions and it says to make sure the Reeds lay "As flat as possible" not perfectly flat. Should I be able to see light underneath the edge of the Reeds and the Reed Block?

DR-Z400 S or SM

I recently have decided to get another motorcycle after a horrible experience with a American made motorcycle company. Many months of deciding what type and brand I was going to with, I finally dug my heels into the ground and made a choice. I have chosen the DRZ, I knew they were great bikes but the DRZ forums sold me hands down. Now the issue is S or SM. I will be mixing the riding from on to off road a 50/50 mixture. I work 3 miles from home and the main reason for the off road side is to enjoy riding with my 3 year old son on his PW 50. I have owned all types of bikes but never a super moto, is there an advantage to them I am not seeing. If I bought the SM I would ditch the street tires and add more aggressive one that I seen in a pic, it looked awesome. I have owned a WR 450 so I know how the regular dirt style tires handle on a bigger bike. Oh, I live is central Connecticut also, so off road riding consists of lots of hills mud and rocks. Thanks for the help, hope to be posting my brand new bike on here within the year. Yeah the wife said about a 8 - 10 month time frame for my purchase, and yes I do tease myself multiple times daily with the TT DRZ forum. Thanks again, can't wait for everyone's insight.

Honda fork cartridge question

Ok, so i got my cartridge out with no problems, drained the oil out of it, put 7.1 ozs. back in it. Heres the issue. When I push the damper rod all the way in it spews oil out of the holes at the top. So, undoubtedly i dont have 7.1 ozs. (Manual Spec) in there anymore. should i put the oil in the cartridge and not touch the rod and install.

When I took my other one out I compressed the rod and it too spewed oil. Obviously the dampner can suck in more oil from the outer fork when needed so th e7.1 is a benchmark so to not end up with more oil in the outer fork than needed. Am I on the right track? Again, should I not compress the damper rod after I fill the cartridge with the 7.1 ozs. Thanks for any and all help.

bunch O carb questions?

I have a 2007 with the 40mm carb. Currently, it doesn't have much duration to the squirt. I have the leakjet blocked off with a plug, and I have cleaned the pee hole on the brass fitting with a needle. The diaphram & spring was just replaced. I'm thinking, maybe it squirts for a half second, if that? Not sure if it is supposed to squirt longer? I also have a R&D power pump, but the squirt duration is no different with the stock plate.

I would really like to be able to whack the throttle and not have it bog. Is this possible with the 40mm carb? I recently rode a yz250f, and I could smack the throttle wide open with no bog from any position. That bike has a smaller carb.

What are my options? Buy a 37mm carb and give up some topend? or learn a new trick to clean the accpump nozzle or any other fix to make it piss a nice stream? I had someone tell me they boiled a carb on the grill in soap to clean it? I am really not sure if it is the nozzle or something else that makes the stream duration so short? Any thoughts?

Will a 2005 carb fit on my 2007 without an airbox change?

dissappointed

i bought and installed some all balls wheel bearings last july (late july to be exact) i packed them with water proof grease and installed them the correct way (froze, tap outer ring, seat when diffirent noise is heard) my front has been bad since december and i finally caved in decided to research vxb and bought 3 sets for practically the same price.

i maybe put 3000 miles on the bearings if that with about 300 miles offroad in wet and rocky trails. 9 months.. technically 6 from the moment i noticed

my OEMs lasted 8500 miles with 5k of that on trails

moral of the story ( you get what you pay for)

one question about install

when tapping in the first bearing and then dropping in the collar (spacer).. should the collar touch both bearings or should there be some space between when the 2nd bearing is fully seated?

2013 KTM 200 XC-W Number Plate/Headlight Removal

I'd like to find a simple way to swap number plates to one without a headlight for racing as I'm destined to smash it up.
Mechanical Issues. Help?

Hey everyone, I have a 2009 model crf450r fuel injected. Last weekend I was racing a 2 hour Hare Scramble and about 1.5 hours in my bike started to bog down every time I gave it gas. It would idle normal and rev normal just wouldn't go anywhere when I hit the gas, like it wasn't getting enough gas or air or something. I let the bike sit for a good 30 minutes and started it back up and it ran perfect. The temperature was around 90 degrees that day and I've been told by other friends/racers that my gas could have started boiling?? Some other responses were fuel pump issues or something electrical of that sort.

Can anyone help me diagnose the problem?? All responses are appreciated!
Thanks, Preston.

Recommended settings for 8000 ft.

I have a 2012 crf450x and I am getting some different suggestions for setting the jets for 8000 ft. I will often be up to 10k feet, but want to set for 8k because I know engines can run hot when they are leaned too much. I have a few questions I am trying to get answers for and any help is appreciated

1. My dealer in Denver set my pilot for 48. From what I am reading it should be 45 for 8k. If that is only for the idle, how important is it that I lower it?

2. Main jet - I have had suggestions of 155 and 160 for 8k feet. Is there a table or anything people reference to make sure I get this setting correct?

3. For changing the jets, I was going to follow these instructions. Are there a better instructions anywhere else? For just changing the main jet should, should I buy the JD jetting kit for $75
http://crfsonly.com/howto/450x/jetting/crf450x-how-to-jet-needle.php

4. I am hoping to avoid constantly adjusting the carb, even with a flex jet fuel screw, unless i really have to, but there might be a single time when the bike gets down to 5k ft. If I adjust the main jet for 155, will 5k be enough to cause it to run too hot? If a few people do recommend the flex jet fuel screw, then I will certainly do that.

5. I also heard I should un-cork the motor. Does anyone have a reference to where I can get instructions for that?

If you have answers for any of hese questions, I would really appreciate it.
My bike from day 1 has the terrible bogging/dying problem at a full throttle that apparently everyone else has had. It has been cleaned well. It didn't make any difference. I have a chance to buy a used 2006 DRZ400SM carb for $200.

By 2006 had they put a different carb on the DRZ400SM?. One that hopefully works?
Oh, s#*t! HELP, please

Original symptom: filled up, rode 15 km, and the engine just quit...it didn't die because I was able apply full throttle and it would surge and cut out, repeatedly. Gas? Carb?

I've redone the carb checkover 3 times (clean and check all settings) and it will start but not run above 1/4 throttle.

Move to check the valves...intakes, fine. Left exhaust, completely loose...trying to hammer its way out the inspection cap. Adjusted and tightened more "confidently" since last time, last Fall. Good!

Right exhaust...screw and nut GONE!

Evidence of trying to bash their way out through the cap also.

Where did they likely travel to? Crankcase? Higher up than that?

Is a complete tear down in my future?

All advice greatly appreciated.
Fork damper rod resistance problem at about 1/2?

I only had time last night to take apart one fork. I ran into a problem with that one fork. One of the damper rods encounters a point of resistance about 1/2 of the way through it's stroke. Both on rebound and compression. It will uncompres all the way, but you have to use force to get past the sticky part.

What gives, these forks have never been taken apart (100% stock), nothing has been dropped, I dont see any nicks at all in the gold coating on the damper rods, everything looks new. Do the damper rods on these forks normally have some sticky points because of tight clearances? I cant imagine the damper rod being bent, although I haven't checked it with digital tools (because I dont have any).

I've rebuilt many Showa forks on my CRF450's, RM250's, and others, and never felt any resistance in the damper rods like this. How the heck it could have bent if that's the issue is completely behond me, this bike has been babied its entire life

Any thoughts?

PS: I should also note that I can still feel the sticky spot even after draining the damping rod, there seems to be two resistance spots, one at about 1/2 and the other is somewhat in the middle of it's stroke.

Do you guys with aftermarket footpegs, when installed and looking from the rear, are they level or tipped inward like the stock footpegs. Stock footpegs, I was noticing, are tipped inward a few degrees towards bike, that is the outside of the footpeg is tilted towards the bike.
New 650L for me!

Hey there,
I just bought a new 13' 650L and I'll pick it up next week.
I know that these days all bikes come jetted real lean to meet EPA standards, so without getting into dave's carb mods right away, is there a good jetting spec to go with?
I know that in the past when I got a 98' XR400 guys here on this site told me to go with a 60 pilot and a 160 main and it ran perfect. I also put a 96' spark arrestor end cap on and a uni-filter.
I'll do a uni-filter right away if that is recommended and want to do an FMF Q, but the pipe won't happen right away.
Dave's mod's do look easy though, I just hesitate to drill or grind anything and find it doesn't work out.
I had an 07' Husky 450 that I bought a JD jetting kit for it and the bike ran like crap after all of that.
I'm not looking for power, just a bike that won't run as hot.
Thanks

Stroker: cam compatibility

I just seized my crank(rod bigend) with a newly installed BBkit.

I need a new one(complete bottom end rebuilt kit)..ok but the question is:

I had : FCR39, Intake Hotcam old stage 1(stage 2 now) stock exhaust cam, stock exhaust.
When I installed the CW BBkit /vertex piston: I put new wiseco valve, suzuki spring, cotter and seal.

Is it possible to run a stroker with that? (not having the RHC cams)

I read that hotcam stage 1 won't work..but what about stage2 IN and stock EX with the stroker?
Okay, so I have been doing some work to my bike including rejetting the carb, repainting the frame, and changing the tank to an IMS 3.2. Welp, today as I started it up and drove it down the driveway to see how it was running, a piece of rubber and a nut fell off, and I am having trouble figuring out where it came from. I am sure I have seen it before but can't seem to locate the spot. Hopefully someone that knows these bikes in and out can point me in the right direction.
Can a cam chain just magically lose tension when you go to put it back on?

My cam chain was tight. Took it off to shim valves because they were far beyond out of spec. Went to put it back on, and suddenly it won't get tight. Guaranteed everything else is fine. Tensioner, everything, is A-OK.
I have just rebuilt the engine after having to replace the gearlever shaft and in doing so also rebored the bike. I put it back together only to find the clutch slipped, so I put a new plates in. Everything seemed fine until sometimes pulling away it lurches just like you just let go of the clutch lever and you hear a bit of a groan, but this dosent happen all the time. It works perfectly otherwise.
how much is my bike worth?

i have an 02 yz250f and I plan on upgrading to the new 2014 crf250r. i don't really know how much my bike will sell for though, I have alot of money put into it and i don't think its worth selling for a thousand dollars like some are going for. the reason being is how fresh my motor is and how great it runs and the chassis in excellent shape. heres what all i have into it. i had my top end and bottom end completely rebuild including 5 valves, 03 auto decompression cam, stage 2 hot cam, a piston, and a cam chain, a new crank, all worn components replaced, a new hinson clutch, the carb was just rejetted, it has a fmf powerbomb header with the titanium 4 muffler, a knn air filter, brand new bridgestone rear and front tires, new gytr 49t sprocket with a 13t front sprocket and a non o-ring gold renthal chain, the forks and rear shock were completely rebuilt and tuned for a 180lb rider, and thats about all i have into it, since the break in my hour meter reads only 2.8 hours total. this bike is the fastest 250f around. if you guys were looking to buy or sell an 02 and knew it was this fresh and ready to rip what would be your top dollar? let me know -Justin

Boyesen A++++++ Service

So I got new reeds for my sons 2 85s. Not directly from Boyesen, but from a distributor. Went to install and found that the OEM screws holding the rev plate and reeds to the OEM reed block were too big and would not allow me to put the Boyesens in. The screws were hitting the intake. I inspected and saw markings where they were even hitting with the old OEM reeds and block. So I dialed up Boyesen tech support to see if it was me, the wrong part, or what. I wish I could remember his name, but I don't. After a couple of minutes of the tech making sure I had an idea of what I was doing he surmised I needed countersunk or flatter head screws for my application. Figures I probably have the 1 Suzuki RM85 with an intake casting mold imperfection. At any rate, that was late afternoon one day ago. Today I get an express l package from Boyesen with enough countersunk and flat head screws for both bikes. NO charge, NO shipping.

Yeah, the screws are only a few cents each but customer service and product support are paramount in my world, and Boyesen sure excelled in both!
But Boyesen with confidence. They stand behind thier products!

Rim Locks...Wheel Balancing

Hey Riders, last year I purchased my KTM530exc. I love the bike on dirt, but when I hit the street/hyway, it sucked. Bad wheel balance, terrible vibration due to only one wheel lock. Long story short, I just installed thoughs blue ones, can't remember the name of 'em, I think Motion Pro, (I will get back with the proper name brand), but they are a 1/4 of the weight of the stock rim locks, and they feel great on the hyway. The terrible vibration is gone. And I only installed one, Frt and Rr.
I owe it to a friend of mine, it was his doing. So the need for two wheel locks is not needed.

Low end bog

Okay, so I'm probably being a tad lazy here but your help is much appreciated! I've had my 2010 kx250f sitting for 2 months as I haven't had the time to ride lately. Went to start her and she gave hell which was expected however when I finally got it started(had to turn up the idle screw, give it full throttle, then kick without throttle), it ran fine when Rolling throttle on from 1/4 turn onwards but now is bogging if I let the revs drop too low or try to really whack the throttle aggressively, this has never happened before. What are initial thoughts? Just old fuel or is my pilot jet a bit clogged? I'm thinking I will start with replacing the fuel and if no luck then check the pilot jet.

So my bottom end is grenaded (cases an all) and the repair cost is gonna be more than the bike is worth. I am gonna look on ebay later for a used bottom end. Like the whole thing all complete. I was wondering i have a 2001 250 and if i were to find a 2002 or 2000 or 2003 etc. motor would it fit in my 2001 frame. And would it bolt up to my 2001 top end?
WR250R SPEEDO ERROR FIX?!?

We all know that the WR250R stock speedo is off by about 10% when measuring speed. I know for myself, I wanted to have a speedo that would measure more accurately, preferably without having to purchase some sort of add-on gadget. So I started to do some actual speed measurements and did a little math to try and figure a cheap way of getting the speedo more accurate.

First thing I did was break out my trusty GPS unit and went for a ride to measure indicated speed verses measured GPS speed. This was done on a long, flat, straight road just outside of my town. Here is what I found:

GPS Speed Indicated Speed
20 mph 23 mph
30 mph 34 mph
40 mph 45 mph
50 mph 56 mph
60 mph 66 mph
70 mph 77 mph

As you can see, with a completely stock bike, I measured just about a 10% deviation between GPS and indicated speeds. The bike was indicating considerably faster than the actual speed I was traveling.

I figured that the easiest thing to change would be the final gearing. Stock is 13/43 for a ratio of 3.308 final drive. I wanted to try changing that by about 10% and as luck would have it, changing the front sprocket to a 14 tooth gave me a ratio of 3.07 or just about a 10% change. The 14 tooth drive sprocket is the biggest that you can possibly get on the bike BTW.

So with only the drive sprocket changed to a 14 tooth from the stock 13 tooth, I took the bike out for some more testing on the same stretch of road and here are my results:

GPS Speed Indicated Speed
20 mph 22 mph
30 mph 32 mph
40 mph 41 mph
50 mph 51 mph
60 mph 61 mph
70 mph 71 mph

Now the speedo reads almost exactly what my GPS reads. However, the odometer now has an error that is greater than stock. But given the choice between an accurate speedo, or accurate odo, I would much rather know how fast I am going.

Oem parts prices for cr250r through 2 high volume dealers.

Alright I am doing a complete bottom end rebuild minus the tranny unless I find worn parts and I priced 2 of the highest volume oem parts dealers Partszilla and Hondaeast

The Partszilla price was $568.78 for 57 items

The Hondaeast price was $497.88 for 58 items which has 1 more item which was a extra gasket I found included in the gasket kit so price would be a little less.

Both had free shipping and I am not sure of delivery times but for me the $70 savings is worth going with the lower priced store I just thought I would give my experience with parts pricing and what I have found.

08 250x - Rim choices

Hey guys I am looking at buying a 08 wr250x and the owner has what I would call adventure tires on it now. I want to go to something a little more knobby, but would still like to switch back to the current tires. I have a scrapped 05 crf250x and have a set of its stock rims. Is there anyway to make them fit the wr? My plan would be to buy a set of knobby tires for the crf rims and keep the wrx rims with current tires and switch them when I feel the need to do more serious off roading.

XR650R stuttering at mid throttle

I hope one of you can help me nail this problem down.

The bike starts great and idles just fine. When I ride it down the street if I just feather the throttle it will go. As soon as I open the throttle up much it will start stuttering very badly and loose all power. If I wide open the throttle it will stutter a bit then wind up and take off (Better be holding on). If I stay on it it will cycle between stuttering and going (When I back off the throttle a bit). When I let off I can slow down and it will still idle.

You can hear the symptom at about the 2:08 mark in this YouTube video, see http://youtu.be/g1sCWlFRhEU#t=2m8s

Stats: 2003 XR650R, Stock PE78 Carb, 165 Main, 70 Slow jets, stock exhaust, drilled out left number plate. 5000 ft (Denver)

I'd been riding my bike with these settings without any problems for a couple years (Not many miles). After sitting for several months I took it for a ride around the block and encountered the problem, and havent figured out how to fix it.

I don't think it is an electrical problem because when the problem occurs it doesn't backfire. Agree?

The spark plug is black sooty as if it is running rich. But with these jet settings I wouldn't expect that, thoughts? Suggestions? Would that cause this symptom?

I tried:
Running it with the side cover off and air filter removed. (Made no difference)
Swapped the jets to 178 Main, 68s slow (Because that's what I had on hand). (Made the problem a little worse. With throttle wide open it would cycle in about 1s intervals between go and stall)

Things I've done since problem started.
Valves recently adjusted (Sounds better but no improvement)
New spark plug (Starts easier but no improvement)
Carb thoroughly cleaned (Several times with compressed air) and new O-rings installed (Made no difference)
New Air Filter (Made no difference)

IMS installation confusion

Thanks for the help in advance. I am just about done installing my new IMS 3.2 on my S model. The last part that I am confused about is where the extension hose goes. I installed one end to the top of the gas cap and the connector onto the other end as seen in the bottom of the picture. I also reconnected the fuel and vacuum lines in their respective spots. The directions say to connect the extension hose to the hose connected" at the top of evaporation canister". I have no clue where this hose or canister is, or even if a NC Drz S model has one. Can someone please help.

rm125 big bore questions

Hello, id like to bore my 03 rm125 to a 144 and have it run on 112 octane BUT i dont know what piston or how much to mill the head down for compression. I've ridden a bike like this and i want to go the same route. My question is what Wiseco or GOOD brand of piston to use and what model piston. Does it have to be a high compression piston? how much should i mill the head down to get the correct compression for 112 octane?

Or should i call a builder? I don't want them to sell me an entire expensive kit, id rather just but the piston kit and gaskets, then mill the head and port the cases at the machine shop.

Thanks

Fork oil leaking out of clickers on top

So as I have gotten this thing more dialed in, I notice more problems.

2002 KTM 200 EXC

This leak showed up after my race last weekend (still got 2nd in B200 )

The little black clickers on the tops of the forks are leaking - looking at the parts diagrams it looks like there is some type of ball/pin detent... How does one remove the clicker to replace the 0-rings?

and since I have been losing fluid, how does one add fork fluid?

and I know this is going to be a controversial question, but which fork fluid? I know that may depend on variables, so I'm riding tight singletrack enduros with this bike and like it plush/soft...

XT350 Front Forks Leaking Need Advice Please

Hello all!

I took my recently aquired XT350 that I had a discussion about here: http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/1012868-1999-xt350-i-think-i-made-a-mistake-buying-it-need-advice/ on her madien voyage a few weeks ago. I have a hitch carrier that I had the bike strapped to. When I got to my first destination I saw the straps on the front we a little loose and then I noticed the fork oil that had leaked out. This became a common occurance on the trip and I am not sure if I ratcheted the staps down too much an blew the fork seals or if they were just weak to begin with. Any who I am doing very basic and easy riding should I just rebuild the fork seals or should I consider some other type of upgrade while I have the forks apart? Any other suggestions or comments are most welcome.

Thanks,
Hi everyone,
I pulled off the left crankcase on my 2006 ttr125e and little did I know about a quarter liter of oil was residing in there.
CR125 carb/fuel issue, help!

Bike was running fine, it died, tryed to start it again and POP loud back fire as the motor rumbles a little and dies. I tried starting it 3 times and every time, a little growl from the motor like it was going to start then POP a back fire and immediate death. Its like its getting to much fuel all at once. After i try this i look down to check the plug and notice i had gas leaking from the line itself, no worries i replaced it with another i had laying around. Tried to start again and same dam thing. Now im noticing that the gas will only fill half the line, from the carb to about half way up on the line theres gas and from half the line to the tank theres an air pocket. Not sure where to go from here, any help or advise would be much apperciated!

Already tried-

Taking line off carb- gas flows freely
checked pettock- clear
cleaned and sprayed out carb

New FmF pipe kx250f

I just installed a new fmf powercore 4 on my 08 kx250f. I have not rejetted the bike yet, because i talked to a couple people around town that said they did not have to when they installed this pipe.

The problem i ran into now is when i start my bike there is a really loud clack/thunk (hard to describe) that sounds like it is coming from the header. From what i can feel there is no exhaust leak and no backfire.
RPM vs bike working

I ride a lot trees and tight terrain.

I think experienced riders accept that the suspension doesn't work best when the throttle is pinned.

My bike turns best when I hold a lot of speed keeping the throttle just short of the powerband really kicking in.

Not lugging but not heavy acceleration.

If this right, then to pick up speed, I will need to drift into turns at medium throttle then explode out of turns, upshift to drop rpms into turns, repeat.

What are the other options?

Problem with Leatt order, should I be pissed? Or am I taking it too far?

Just want to hear you guys thoughts. Am I taking it too far?

Exact copy of my message to Phil Davy on TT (pretty much explains my situation).

I have had a problem with my leatt order and thought I would have better luck talking with you rather then one of your sales people considering you are a general manager.

My problem: On May 16th, I ordered one of your "Photo shoot clearance items". It was the chest protector that has a ribcage on it.....anyway, I was billed for it sometime between then and a few days ago (don't know exact date) and was billed AGAIN today for it. After calling, I was told you guys would look into it and get back to me. Now, 8 hours later, still no word, I call back and the guy on the other end seemed annoyed that I was calling again and told me the extra money taken out couldn't be put back into my momsaccount until you got word from ups that the package was turned aroud (2 supposidly were shipped).

With the tough exonomic times, My family cannot afford to have $80 tied up. I feel that I shuoldn't pay for your (leatt's) error.

This brings me to my other little problem. Both orders were $78.xx, which also isn't correct. My recipt specifically said $55 for the protector and $15 for shipping, for a total of $70, not $78.

As you can tell, im very fed up and was wondering if maybe me and you could talk this over, because I'm sick of the people i've been talking to. Thanks so much.

Colin

So my question is should I be pressing my case like I am, or should I just wait it out. My moms not too happy that over $140 came out of her bank, instead of the agreed $70 between the two of us, and WE HAVE BILLS TO PAY!

Sorry for the rant......maybe somebody could help calm be down.......

rebuilding topend questions.

Ok, so since my yz is all tore apart because 5th gear blew, I'm going to rebuild the valves. I don't think I need replace the piston. The previous owner said it was done about 10 hours before I bought the bike and it still looks good. I want to keep the cost down because I'm laid off right now so don't have alot of money coming in. Sorry if the questions are a little noobish, but this is my first 4 stroke.

My questions are:

1. What parts do I need to replace to rebuild the head?

2. The valve clearance was just below minimum when I checked it when it was together. Can I get away with keeping the same valves and putting in smaller shims?

3. How do you get the valve seats out of the head? I've got one valve out but the stem and seat is stuck in the head.

2006 rm250 jetting

Having some issues with jetting( or I think I am) bike is a 2006 rm250 fresh topend new reeds and cleaned carb. I replaced the carb boot because I pressure tested it and the boot oring was to flat to seal. Now my issue is that the bike starts great cold but takes 4-6 kicks to start when hot.
2001 cr250 plastics/ graphics options

hey guys so im trying to clean up the looks of my 01cr250. id really like to get all 02+ red plastics. I have both fenders and fork gaurds but cant find the rad shrouds or number plates.....thats not way to expensive. Also can't find any decent graphics kits. Does anyone know of a reasonable way to dress these older bikes up

if you have one of these bikes looking clean please share pics so i can get ideas ... i promise i wont copy anyone just trying to see whats available ... wish i had an 02+ cr250 way better looking graphics available lol

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UFO-Plastics-Side-Panels-Red-Honda-CR125R-00-01-CR250R-/300907292416?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item460f78e700&vxp=mtr

Scraping inside of WaterPump (had a leaky cover gasket)

OK guys... I had a leaky water pump cover gasket (just a few drips a day)... I decided to replace the gasket (not here yet) but am trying to prepare for it now. I removed the cover and found the gasket in tact but seems to have been put in place with silicone (not much but I see signs of it (does this matter)... Also I can see where the impeller has been rubbing the cover (not bad but I can see the scrapes and the impeller edge is distorted). Can you tell me if the rubbing is normal and should I have expected silicone on the gasket?
So i'm doing a full rebuild after a piston cam apart in my 93 CR250. I know you have to have a shop change the lower con rod bearing, but what is involved? I'm asuming that a rebalance or something similare ir required after they press it apart and back together.

I'm just trying to arm myself with information before appoching a shop. If anyone has shop recomendations in Metro Vancouver area I'm all ears.

First Time Buyer. New or Used?

Hey everyone,

Looking to finally pick up my first bike. I'm stuck on which route to go. I was originally thinking of picking up a used 2008-2011 KX250F for roughly $3,000-$3,500. The more research I do the more weary I am of buying a used bike. Primarily because I am new to these machines and I'm not confident on exactly what I need to look out for. I've been looking at a few close out 2012 Kx250f's in my area. The best price I've seen is going to be about $5,700 OTD. A friend of mine says the he knows someone that has a few brand new 2011s. I may be able to get one of these for around $5,000 OTD.

Just wanted to get some opinions on what the seasoned vets think I should do. My worst fear is paying $3,500 for a used bike and a month in having to put $1,500 or something into it. I'm also taking into consideration how much value the bike will lose if I sell it in a year or so.

Thanks for the help!

Crank Bearing is Seized onto the Crank -

This thing isn't pretty.
I have a motor that lost the drive side main crank bearing. And seems to have frozen the inner bearing race onto the crank. Now I can't get the crank out of the cases. This is a Suzuki 2 stroke and has a similar style outer bearing to the Honda where it is held in the cases by metal retainers secured with screws.
I've tried heat and the problem with that is, the only way I can get at it is through the seal area, and there's very little room. I don't want to ruin the cases.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to run across this, so I'm hoping someone has some advice.

I'm asking this here because there seems to be more knowledge here then the other forums

RV the Outdoor Monster....

Ever since he started in 2006, I have always loved watching RV with his very RC-like WFO style.
If he made it through the year healthy, he won the championship (250 or 450)

true Dungy has won a few outdoor titles too - But RV was out due to injury those years.
Dungy has never straight up won a title against RV in the outdoors.

RV is the Outdoor Monster.
And if you disagree - look up 2007 Motocross des nations.
That is the definition a true spanking.

Yup, Im an RV fan
