There are a few simple things you can easily do to ensure that your scrapbooks look just as good as the day you finished them, for years to come.
The first thing to avoid is paper that is not lignin-free. You've probably heard that before, and it is true, but what is lignin anyways? Lignin is a stiff component of a plant that quite literally holds it together. Although lignin is necessary for plants and trees, you want nothing to do with it! After a while, lignin will cause photos, fabrics and other paper that touch it to turn brown. Yes, lignin-free paper does cost more, but it is a vital part of preserving your cherished scrapbooks.
If the paper is not lignin-free, it will eventually discolor your photos and other materials touching it. So when buying paper for your scrapbooking projects, be sure to look for packages that say "lignin-free," because if it doesn't say it, then it most likely isn't.
Fabric is a big concern for preserving your scrapbooks, but unfortunately it is often overlooked. Many people assume that all fabrics are acid-free, but they aren't. Silk actually goes through an acid bath during the manufacturing process, as well as many tie-dyed fabrics. This isn't to discourage you from using it, not all. Just try to make sure that no photos directly touch fabric, and if you need them to overlap, make sure there is a layer of paper between the two.
Another consideration when using fabrics is if the color will bleed off onto your page and other things touching it. To test for this, cut a square inch off and soak it in a glass of water over night. If there is no color bleeding from it the next day, then there isn't any risk to your scrapbook. But if you do see color in the water, or collecting at the bottom of the glass then don't use that fabric in your scrapbook at all.
When using glitter, be sure there is a top layer of spray adhesive to lock them down, or better yet use special glitter glue where the glitter is mixed right in. If this is not done right the glitter will slowly fall off, and loose glitter means scratched photos.
After you have planned the layout for your photos, be sure that you are using the right kind of mounting tape for them! Regular mounting tape is fine for buttons and bottle caps, but when it come to mounting photos you need to use special photo mounting tape which is completely acid-free. If you don't, your photos will slowly discolor. The tape should say "acid-free" right on the packaging.
These are just a few simple things you can do to ensure that your scrapbooks last and last.
This article is free to publish with the resource box.

Now they are increasing being approved by the FDA and used for such things as wrinkle removal, tooth whitening, and hair removal. Is it really permanent? Many laser hair removal providers tout their processes as "painless" or "permanent." The FDA says there must be enough evidence to support those claims and it is actually giving some manufacturers authorization to state "permanent hair reduction" but not "removal." Be careful if you select a provider who says their process is permanent and painless. If you have the manufacturer and model number of the laser, you can directly call or write the FDA to see if they have approval for medical use.Still, laser hair removal can be a great option for anyone wanting to remove unwanted hair from anywhere on their bodies.
English people have their fried eggs, beans, bacon and mushrooms. Pakistan people have their chapattis.

Carnival in Rio

Carnival in Rio
by: Jason Blynn
Considered one of the most awe-inspiring and grandiose spectacles in all the world, Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the marvelous city, is a feast for the eyes as well as the ears. For five days, the 14 samba schools (escolas de samba) parade through the famous sambadrome in quest to be the best samba school for that year. Besides being a spectacular display of costume, color, and dance, the percussion coming from the thousands of people playing in each school's battery literally lifts spectators out of the seats. It is during Carnival that the powerful and beautifully seductive rhythm of Brazil truly manifests itself. Samba is the soul of Brazil.
Carnival in Rio dates back to about 1723, which is the earliest record to be found. Immigrants from the Azores and Cabo Verde introduced the first festivities, which were mainly intended to get people wet. People reveled in the streets, tossing buckets of water and limes at anyone they saw, even emperors. This activity was called an entrudo, intended to purify the body. As time went on people began to dress up, parade, dance, and play music for all to hear. At the beginning of the 19th century, the parades began to take on a more central role in the festivities, and with the sponsorship of a brewery called Hanseática, each parade group (called "ranchos" then) began to organize competitions from year to year. After a brief hiatus during World War II, the parades kept getting larger and more grandiose as the years went by. In the eighties, the sambodromo was built to fit 70,000 spectators and provide for a more organized procession of the schools.
Nowadays, a typical samba school will spend two-thirds of the calendar year preparing for Carnival, for which each school performs one song. Besides having thousands of dancers, percussionists, musicians, and singers, each school also has a team of songwriters who work and compete with each other to compose the best song possible: the one that will bring the school victory. The competition is fierce within the team of composers. Whoever wins is sure to receive much acclaim and fame that year, as his song will be released on the year's Sambas de Enredo CD, a recording with all the 14 schools' songs that is released shortly before the arrival of Carnival and is always immensely popular. A typical school will easily spend 1 million dollars a year on Carnival.
DiscoverBrazil offers three separate Carnival packages, each one with a different hotel option. It may be baseball cards, hats, or some other type of sports memorabilia. Even if you don't consider yourself a collector of anything, you may be and don't even know it. How about the collection of tools in the cellar you don't really use, but you have to have them! Even maybe all those movies laying around you no longer watch, sounds like a collection to me.
More common items people typically collect are things like, coins, military items, guns, and sports items. Generally it will be something that once interested a person, had an impact on their lives or they just simply enjoyed. Me, I am a collector of shot glasses. What it was that spawned the interest is beyond me, I think it may have started in college. I now have a collection of over 300 shot glasses, and yes, I have had at least 1 shot of some type of a concoction from each one of them.
Looking at them now, they are reminders of places I have been, and things I have done. Every one of them has a story to be told, the memories flood my mind every time I pick one up. None of my shot glasses really have any monetary value, but I would never part with them, as a collection, they are proof of my existence if kept together.
I have searched the internet to find the reasons why others collect shot glasses. This quote was found on a personal site of an obvious diehard Hard Rock Café shot glass collector; "My goal is to display each of the shot glasses that have been available over the years from The Hard Rock Cafes and The Hard Rock Hotel." Needless to say, the man(or woman) has their work cut out for them to complete that collection.
My next quote comes from another personal web site; "I love my shot glasses! Currently I own almost 400 of the mini drinking vessels. My friends insist that one day we have a party where each glass gets used at least once. I don't have enough floor space for when they pass out! For now, I am content to hanging these puppies on the wall. My other loves are Pink Flamingos and Oreo Cookies, but they haven't overwhelmed an entire room yet. Give me time." This collector just loves collecting them, no rhyme or reason why, she just enjoys the act of doing so.
I am sure it is clear to you by now that the reasons why people collect many times are very different. They range from being a simple hobby, all the way to self preservation. Sometimes people collections end up in museums after they have past on. The Smithsonian Institution is living proof of that. So no matter what it is you collect just remember, next time you go somewhere, bring a memory home with you.

Lose Weight Cycling by: Gary Gresham Lose weight cycling is a fun and enjoyable way to improve your health and to make you feel better. Pedaling down a rural road or through a city park rouses your spirit and awakens your senses.
These basic commands will provide the foundation for your dog's obedience training. They are essential for your dog to learn in order for him to be a good citizen.Hold a treat or toy in front of your dog's nose, just out of his reach.

Solving Problem Puppy Behaviors

Solving Problem Puppy Behaviors
by: Michael Paetzold
If you have ever had a puppy you know that there will be some problem behaviors that have to be corrected. These are always much easier to nip them in the bud while they are young rather than trying to break the bad habits as they grow older.
Jumping up on people is one of the problem behaviors that lots of people inadvertently encourage by mistake. It is cute when it is a small puppy that is jumping and all excited to see you. It makes you feel good that your new puppy has this much affection for you.
While this may be cute on a little puppy when they grow into a large dog it can be quite dangerous for a child or even an adult.
To stop this behavior place the puppy down on its feet gently as soon as it jumps up. Once your puppy remains still for a bit praise them extensively.
It is also helpful to give the puppy an alternative to jumping such as giving you his paw. This allows them to get your attention in a positive way.
Another problem that is much easier addressed earlier than later is teaching your puppy not to pull on the leash. It is definitely much easier to control and train a 10 pound puppy than a 100 pound dog.
The first thing that needs to be taught in any training of a puppy is to heel or walk by you on a loose leash rather pulling and tugging. This is much easier to do by employing a head collaror training collar.
To start just start walking and anytime your puppy decides to charge ahead just change direction and allow some slack as soon as the puppy changes direction to follow you. It is important that you don't allow the puppy to pull at the lash and try to hold them back as this will teach them the wrong lesson.
Once your puppy understands the heel command you can then consider further training.

You At A Dead End? These drugs are not illicit and almost all of them are readily available in the retail medicine stores. But there are quite a few crucial things enlisted below that we ought to keep in mind regarding the prescription medicines.
Prescription medicines can be habit forming. Due to the relief that these medicines provide, people take them persistently or indefatigably. Anti depressants, painkillers, methamphetamines are the drugs that cause addiction universally. People overlook their addictiveness to the drug and try to hide it in the name of comfort and the medicine's prescriptive nature. But the fact is that only illegitimate drugs do not entail drug abuse. The recommended lawful medicines too can be the cause of serious drug abuse. So an excess dosage of prescriptive drugs is also fatal.
Before investing your hard earned money in the drugs advised to you, it is better that you know completely about them. Do not hang back in informing your physician of all your bodily problems. If due to some reason you suspect that the prescribed drug can cause trouble, confirm it with your doctor first.
Ask for alternatives to antibiotics. Antibiotics are famous for their side effects. Most people are not able to bear these offshoots. So, asking for substitute mild medicines is not a bad idea.
Requesting for herbal medicines or other natural cures can save you from the hefty expenditure that is incurred on their purchase. Generally prescription drugs are too costly for everyone to afford. Therefore, natural cures like intaking a diet rich in a particular nutrient, exercising daily to minimize pain in joints and other preventions and treatments like acupuncture etc. can be certainly favorable.
Buy medicines judiciously. Make it sure that you check the MRP, expiry and manufacturing date on the cover before paying for the medicine. Ask for discount if any on your purchase and don't forget the bill.
Never exchange and transfer medicines. Though saving money is very imperative yet health (the most precious wealth) is not to be compromised upon. Often people pass on their medicines to others who they believe is undergoing a problem similar to what they confronted. For instance John would have no qualms in forwarding his antidepressant drug to his friend who is down with depression or Julia considers it right to give her pain killer that was prescribed for her back ache to Mary who has sprained her ankle.
But this very act is not just wrong even illegal. When a doctor prescribes you a medicine he takes into notice your whole physical and psychological condition. Just as a red color shirt might not suit every face, similarly, a single medicine cannot be positively effective in every case. In fact, many a times there can be serious repercussions because of the chemical reactions that take place within the body after taking the drug.
Pharming is another issue associated with prescriptive medicines. Pharming designates the swallowing of many tablets together in chorus. Teenagers to adults are found practicing pharming. They do it to save the effort of taking the different medicines time and again. But preventing oneself from this little exertion can be critical. The medicines are scheduled differently so that the body's internal mechanism can accommodate itself and absorb the chemical reactions. While if they are gulped simultaneously, there is acute threat of various spontaneous mixed reactions in the body that might go out of control.
Last but never the least, keeping the precarious nature of life, it should be mandatory for every individual to get medical insurance. Medical insurance is the greatest help in the grave hours of our life. The insurance will not just enable you to meet the hospital expenditure but also the cumbersome outlay on prescriptive medicines.

8 Steps to Oranizing Your Life & Business by: Terri Seymour Your life is a mess!Your business is going nowhere!Your house looks like a tornado hit it!Does this sound familiar? Na birdied his final five holes and finished his round just before play was halted due to darkness.

Heavy rain halted first-round play at 8:38 a.m. ET, with only 52 of the 156 golfers in the field having had a chance to play one hole or more before the delay.

Play resumed at 4:10 p.m., and golfers made mincemeat of the rain-softened course.

Mike Weir of Bright's Grove, Ont., was tied for the lead with Goosen in the early going, but faltered down the stretch, finishing with three bogeys in his last seven holes to drop to 1-under, good for a tie for 37th.

Calgary's Stephen Ames only managed to get two holes in before play was halted, and will have to finish his first round on Friday. No, I don't mean the time of the year when the flowers bloom and the days get longer. What I am referring to is the sound of roaring engines and the waving of green and checkered flags. That's right, it's racing season!
Which brings me to my point; success in racing is always found in the ability to make the right changes at the right time. In racing, the person responsible for calling the right changes at the right time is [interesting enough] the crew chief. This crew chief position is much like an organization's CEO, president, team leader, manager, boss, you. All these people strive for success, and the smart ones know when to make the right changes.
ENSURING IT'S A TEAM EFFORT
The best crew chiefs have as their top attribute the ability to get every member of their team pulling in the same direction. If a team has even one guy steadily complaining that the driver can't get the job done, or the rear tire changer is performing poorly, or the jack man is just too slow, it's trouble for the team and any crew chief who expects to succeed must put a quick end to this sort of thing.
ONE LEADER – MULTIPLE WAYS
A good crew chief also has to have a very good working knowledge of the racecar. He has to be a little bit innovative as well. He must have the mentality that allows him to feel that even though something has been done one way for years, it might be worth trying a different approach if the old one no longer produces results. The best crew chiefs are those that are open and receptive to change.
A racing team is going to assume the personality of its crew chief. People on a racing team must want to work for a crew chief because they not only like him as a person, they like the way he handles things. A crew chief must inspire confidence. He can do that through hard work and dedication — two things that will certainly rub off on those other members of the team.
TALKING THE SAME LANGUAGE
Communication between crew chief and a driver is vital. Being a crew chief not only means setting up the race cars but it also means being able to talk a driver through a race. Crew chiefs have to really understand the inflection in the comments made over the radio by their drivers during a race to really understand how the racecar is running. For instance, when a driver answers "pretty good" to the question of how a car is running, it's the way in which he inflects those words that gives a good crew chief the understanding of whether the adjustments needed on the car are a half round or maybe two rounds. It's only over time that this communication between driver and crew chief gets refined to where there's no doubt over what's being said.
Are you a "crew chief" in your organization? Has success been determined by the changes you have made? The following is something that you may have heard, but it is something basic that we need to keep in mind when making changes. If you make the wrong change at the wrong time you have – failure	If you make the right change at the wrong time you have – resistance	If you make the wrong change at the right time you have – low performance	If you make the right change at the right time you have – success

There are a number of things that you can do for the puppies and their mother to help make their first days, weeks, and months together healthy and happy ones. The mother dog will spend the first few days after giving birth with her new puppies. It is important to check on the mother and the pups to ensure that the puppies are being kept warm enough and are being well fed and to make sure that Mommy is producing enough milk and is comfortable. If the mother leaves the puppies it will be very important to monitor their temperature closely.
There are cool wet mountain ranges, rain forests, dry tropical forests, cloud forests, the very dry Pacific coast and the damp Caribbean coast. Because of Costa Rica's diverse climate, the country is home to 850 species of birds, 205 species of mammals, 9,000 species of flowering plants, 1,200 species of orchids and 376 species of reptiles and amphibians.

Eight Simple Anger Management Tips

Eight Simple Anger Management Tips
by: David Leonhardt
"The other night I ate at a real family restaurant. Every table had an argument going."
One of the biggest obstacles to personal and career success is anger. When we fail to control our anger, we suffer several blows:	Anger impedes our ability to be happy, because anger and happiness are incompatible.	Anger sends marriages and other family relationships off-course.	Anger means lost business, because it destroys relationships.	Anger also means losing business that you could have won in a more gracious mood.	Anger leads to increased stress (ironic, since stress often increases anger).	We make mistakes when we are angry, because anger makes it harder to process information.
People are beginning to wake up to the dangers of anger and the need for anger management programs and strategies. Many people find anger easy to control. Yes, they do get angry. Everybody does. But some people find anger easier to manage than others. More people need to develop anger management skills.
For those who have a tough time controlling their anger, an anger management plan might help. Think of this as your emotional control class, and try these self-help anger management tips:
Ask yourself this question: "Will the object of my anger matter ten years from now?" Chances are, you will see things from a calmer perspective.
Ask yourself: "What is the worst consequence of the object of my anger?" If someone cut in front of you at the book store check-out, you will probably find that three minutes is not such a big deal.
Imagine yourself doing the same thing. Come on, admit that you sometimes cut in front of another driver, too ... sometimes by accident. Do you get angry at yourself?
Ask yourself this question: "Did that person do this to me on purpose?" In many cases, you will see that they were just careless or in a rush, and really did not mean you any harm.
Try counting to ten before saying anything. This may not address the anger directly, but it can minimize the damage you will do while angry.
Try some "new and improved" variations of counting to ten. For instance, try counting to ten with a deep slow breathe in between each number. Deep breathing -- from your diaphragm -- helps people relax.
Or try pacing your numbers as you count. The old "one-steamboat-two-steamboat, etc." trick seems kind of lame to me. Steamboats are not the best devices to reduce your steam. How about "One-chocolate-ice-cream-two-chocolate-ice-cream", or use something else that you find either pleasant or humorous.
Visualize a relaxing experience. Close your eyes, and travel there in your mind. Make it your stress-free oasis.
One thing I do not recommend is "venting" your anger. Sure, a couple swift blows to your pillow might make you feel better (better, at least, than the same blows to the door!), but research shows that "venting" anger only increases it. In fact, speaking or acting with any emotion simply rehearses, practices and builds that emotion.
If these tips do not help at all and you still feel you cannot manage your anger and the related stress, you may need some professional help, either in the form of a therapist specializing in anger management or a coach with a strong background in psychology.

To know London completely is impossible. London changes faster than pigeons descending into the fountains of Trafalgar Square.
Jerard Jr. You are not a kid any more and becoming a senior is just around the corner.

4 Things Frustrated Dog Owners Should Know!

4 Things Frustrated Dog Owners Should Know!
by: Paul Duxbury
You've probably had a day or two when you felt like your dog just wasn't paying any attention to you at all, right? You talked, you yelled, you shouted, maybe you jumped up and down and waved your arms, but she just wasn't interested in anything you had to say to her in any tone of voice. You're not alone.
Your dog isn't human.
Unless you believe in pet psychics, there's really no way for you to read your pooch's mind and figure out exactly what she's thinking. The good news is that, like many dog owners, the problems you're having can probably be traced to one simple thing: you're trying to communicate with your dog from a human standpoint, and your dog isn't a human. Sure, you know that, but lots of humans try to relate with their dogs in the ways that they think are rational as humans. The problem is that dogs are driven in every act and every moment by very strong instincts. Deciphering those instincts and leveraging them to build a productive relationship is like finding the keys to the city.
Your dog doesn't speak English.
Take the word "no," for example. Does your dog speak English? Not understand English. Does she speak it? What's meaningful to her is your tone of voice, not the word itself. Now let's think about that – we're taking up excess time trying to teach our dog a word she'll never speak and that probably doesn't mean much to her anyway. Sure, it's meaningful to us, but that's only one side of the equation. What about something that's meaningful to both human and dog?
You know what a growl means, and your dog knows what a growl means.
If you think that mutually meaningful language doesn't exist, you're not thinking creatively enough. What does it say to you when a dog growls at you? Anything from "get away from my food" to "back off, dude," right? Yet in every case, a dog's growl typically means that she is not happy with whatever you've done. And you've seen dogs react to other dogs' growls, right? So you know what a growl means, and your dog knows what a growl means. Where's the disconnect? Growl at your dog!
No, seriously. The next time your pooch starts stepping outside her bounds or doing something you don't like, growl at her. A nice, strong, guttural growl that would put the alpha wolf in a pack to shame. While you're growling, look directly into her eyes. You're almost guaranteed that she'll back off. It might be best to try it in your home environment to start with – I don't want to be held responsible for you getting funny looks in the street!
Instincts save time and communicate effectively.
See that? You worked with her instinct and the information hardwired into her brain, and the result was instantaneous. Why spend tons of time trying to work against that instinct and end up frustrated, angry, and still miscommunications? This approach works in everything from basic discipline to full-on obedience training. You just need to figure out how to apply it in each of those situations.

Most pet odor and stain removal is not done under "controlled" conditions therefore pet odor removal becomes a hit or miss situation. There is a way to solve this, use a product that has been proven effective for your situation.
There are a large number of different types of intestinal worms, but dogs are most commonly affected by tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. These parasites live in the digestive tract (most commonly in the intestines) where they feed on nutrients, robbing the dog of the nutrition it takes in.

Choosing The Right Puppy Breed

Choosing The Right Puppy Breed
by: Randy Myers
For all too many, the process of choosing a puppy or puppies is based purely on how cute the puppy is or how playful its personality seems at the pet store or kennel. Granted, playful and cute puppies can really tug at your heart strings and urge you to make an impulsive and expensive decision regarding this very important addition to your family, but without proper thought and research into the type of breed you are purchasing, your family and your cute, adorable puppy could be in for a long road of pain and frustration ahead.
Purebred puppy breeds have inherent characteristics that are particular to their breed, and these characteristics usually get more pronounced with age. While different breed characteristics will be appropriate for different families, matching the wrong breed with the wrong family can have devastating consequences.
It has been estimated that the number one reason why competent pet owners relinquish ownership of their puppy or puppies to one of the many county humane services to be found all across the country is because they have become frustrated with certain characteristics of the dog. No matter whether the problem is big, such as aggression to children or other pets, or small, such as a tendency to chew everything in sight, as the puppy grows and its cuteness wears off, the frustration experienced from having a poorly matched puppy will increase. And the consequences can be heart wrenching for the both the family and the dog.
But by simply taking a little time to research the breed you are considering purchasing, you can guarantee that your new puppy will be a well-loved addition to your family unit. While I'm not saying that you should discount a breed entirely based on one troublesome characteristic, I'm saying that you should be prepared and able to deal with any problems, behavioral or health related, that is associated with the breed.
In order to obtain accurate information when choosing the right breed of puppy for your family, stay away from sources that have an interest in selling the puppy. I learned this one the hard way. After my children and family fell in love with a puppy at a local, reputable pet store, I had many questions for the sales clerk about how easily the puppy could be house broken. A puppy making messes all over the house is just not something that I can deal with a few times let alone for months of house breaking.
I was assured by the clerk that the breed was very intelligent and able to be crate trained in a matter of three days. To make a long story short, $1,500 and 9 months later the puppy still requires constant supervision and cannot be a complete part of the family due to our inability to house break him. Research conducted after the purchase revealed that the breed was inherently stubborn and in some cases unable to be house broken despite all attempts.
So, instead of relying on biased sources, turn to the library and people who own that particular breed of puppy or have owned one in the past. If you know someone who has relinquished a purebred puppy of the breed that you are considering for a fraction of the cost that they paid for it or for free, you need to ask them some serious and pointed questions before deciding to invest in that particular breed of puppy.
Here are the most important questions that you need answered before purchasing a puppy or puppies: What is the temperament like? What is the mature size and weight? Are they good with children? What are their indigenous health problems? How long do they live? How much do they shed? How much do they eat? How trainable are they? Can they be easily house broken? Do they require a lot of grooming? How noisy are they? How protective are they? Do they require any special care or management? Are they good with other dogs and animals?
Now all you need to do is match the answers of these questions with your family's needs. Choose wisely, and you will have chosen a best friend of a lifetime, a dog that will truly be a joy to have and a treasured member of the family.

Gardening--Fun and Frugal! by: Cyndi Roberts Whether you are an avid vegetable gardener, a beginning herb gardener or just like to have a pretty yard, these frugal tips may help you save a little money! 1. Stale coffee and coffee grounds make great organic fertilizer.
History of kitesurfing by: Jakob Jelling KiteSurfing is by far the latest craze in extreme sports.

Picking Up A Horse's Hoof

Picking Up A Horse's Hoof
by: Jeffrey Rolo
The idea of picking up a horse's hooves can intimidate some owners since a well-placed horse kick would really hurt! Such caution is good, but in reality if you pick up a horse's hoof properly you provide him with no leverage or ability to kick you. This is a situation where a person's worst fears can cause him to imagine an incident that is highly unlikely to occur with careful handling.
Here's how to safely pick up a horse's hoof:
Starting with the front hoof, approach your horse diagonally from his front so that he clearly knows you are there – you don't want to surprise him. Place yourself even with his shoulder and make sure to face his rear; you will both be facing opposite directions during the hoof picking process.
Making sure that your feet aren't too close to the horse's hoof, start running the hand parallel to him down his shoulder and along the length of his leg, finally stopping just above his ankle. Gently grasp the ankle portion and click (or otherwise verbally cue him) to ask him to raise his leg. If he's well trained, that small cue will be more than enough and he'll do just what you requested. You're now free to begin picking his hoof.
If your horse is being a bit stubborn or hasn't learned how to pick up his legs yet try leaning into his shoulder as you run your hand down the back of his cannon bone. You can also gently squeeze/pinch the tendons to further cue him to what you would like. As you perform these physical cues make sure you provide a verbal one also (I make a clicking sound) so the horse later associates your sound with the requested response. Increase the weight you push against his shoulder until he finally lifts his leg as requested.
When picking a horse's hoof you want to remove all debris from the hoof clefts as well as the rim and frog. Be careful around the frog because it can sometimes be a bit sensitive, particularly if the horse has thrush.
Once you have finished cleaning the front hoof carefully guide it back to the floor; you don't want to allow the horse to slam it, potentially hitting your foot in the process. Praise your horse and pat him on the front shoulder a bit so he understands that you are pleased with his cooperation, then run your hand along his back to his rear leg. Place yourself in the same position as you did with his front leg and do the process over again.
There is a slight difference between lifting a rear foot and front foot, even though your basic positioning and actions are nearly identical. When you lift your horse's rear foot he will probably give a little jerk that you might misinterpret as a kick. This is a common reflex reaction among horses and nothing for you to worry about.
Secondly, when you raise your horse's rear leg you'll want to step into him a bit so that your hip is underneath his leg. Rest his leg on your thigh, grab his hoof and gently flex it upwards. By doing this you lend him some support and more importantly the position of his leg and his flexed hoof will prevent him from being able to kick you.
Clean the hoof, lower it cautiously as you did the first and praise him. Congratulations – you're halfway done! The opposite side will be done exactly the same way, but try to return to his front and start the opposite side rather than move around his rear. It's bad practice to approach or circle all but the most trusted horses via the rear in such close quarters since a horse would be within range to strike.
When lifting any hoof try to make sure your horse is properly squared (balanced evenly on all four legs) so that when you lift one hoof he can easily balance on his remaining three. At no time should the horse actually lean his weight on you! Even when you rest his rear leg on your thigh you're not allowing him to use you as a crutch.
Once you have picked your horse's hooves a few times it will probably become very simple and take less than 5 minutes to clear all hooves. Most trained horses will raise their hoof for you the moment they feel your leg run down their leg.
It is a very good idea to control your horse's head while you are picking his hooves. This can be done by attaching his halter to crossties or asking a partner hold your horse's head. By controlling his head you ensure your horse can't move away from you while you're trying to pick his hooves, or worse… turn around and take a bite at your rear!
Visit http://www.alphahorse.com/horse-care.html to view other articles pertaining to horse care.

What these scriptures say is that God Himself is the source of our joy. And that joy gives us strength.
Treasure in the Andes by: Sandin Phillipson I awoke to strange surroundings, my first view of the plaster-peeling room in which I had spent the night being afforded by the early-morning sunrise on the Bolivian Altiplano. After arriving near midnight in the frigid darkness of the high desert, my thoughts had been only of how quickly I could unpack my sleeping bag and crawl in.

Herbs - An Ancient Remedy

Herbs - An Ancient Remedy
by: Mohit Puri
Aarogya is the equilibrium state of the Panch Tatvas of human body namely Fire ( Agni ), Water ( jala ), Ether ( akasha ), Earth ( prithvi ) and Air ( vayu ). Diseases occur when this balance is disturbed. To get back the equilibrium our Vedas have put down the science of life in form of Ayurveda which is a gift that nature has very generously bestowed upon us.
The relevance of Ayurveda in today's world lies in the fact that this science is the product of an ancient civilization and culture that postulates man as part of and as the microcosm of the universe, the macrocosm.
According to Ayurveda every phenomenon in the universe can be found to take place in the individual, albeit in a subtle form. Every individual act has therefore an impact on the environment (in a very broad sense of the term) and on the universe.
Ayurveda is unique in that it is deeply rooted in traditional cultures and at the same time emanating from man's interaction with the environment or the macrocosm and hence applicable universally.
For more details visit our website http://www.herbalsaarogya.com

Sentient Beings (referred to, in this essay, as "Humans" or "persons") seem either to limit each other - or to enhance each other's actions. Mutual limitation is, for instance, evident in game theory.
For producers who owed money on borrowed camera equipment if a creditor came after them, they could hide among the trees. It was a hard business full of causalities and took a pirate's mentality to survive.

Pic

Clinton, Zelaya will meet Tuesday

Supporters of ousted President Manuel Zelaya vowed Monday to widen protests and block trade nationwide as the deposed Honduran leader headed to Washington for a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Thousands of Zelaya supporters have demonstrated since his overthrow eight days ago, including 2,000 who rallied peacefully Monday near the presidential palace.

Anger increased following the death of a teenager shot by soldiers Sunday as a crowd tried to break through an airport fence where a plane carrying Zelaya was prevented from landing.

"We're going to change strategies," said organizer Rafael Alegria, 57. "We cannot live under the current state."

Alegria said they planned to take their fight nationwide by blocking major highways and border crossings in an effort to impede trucks carrying fuel and merchandise.

Clinton was to meet Tuesday with Zelaya as the Obama administration weighs responses to his ouster. The talks would be the administration's highest-level contact with Zelaya since his removal from office.

Military denies Zelaya's return

The interim Honduran government closed the airport Monday and soldiers and military vehicles continued to block the runways.

Zelaya got as close as several hundred feet above Tegucigalpa on Sunday in his continuing effort to return and reclaim power, but the Venezuelan pilots of his plane вЂ" on loan from President Hugo Chavez вЂ" decided not to risk a crash after circling the airport and spotting the obstacles on the runway.

Zelaya finally landed in Nicaragua after a late-night news conference in El Salvador with four other Latin American presidents and the secretary-general of the Organization of American States, Jose Miguel Insulza.

"I am risking myself personally to resolve the problems without violence," Zelaya said Sunday night, urging the world's leaders to intensify their efforts to help him return to power and "do something with this repressive regime."

Zelaya is opposed by all branches of the Honduran government as well as the military, and has even alienated leaders of his own party, which supported the congressional vote to install Roberto Micheletti as interim president after Zelaya's ouster.

"Micheletti won't be in government for very long вЂ" only the time needed to improve things in Honduras," said Jorge Illescas, who directs the ruling Liberal Party that both Zelaya and Micheletti represent. "He will leave next January," Illescas added, when the next president takes power following November's elections.

Latin American leaders try to help

Zelaya, who moved to the left and allied himself with Chavez during his presidency, was ousted hours before a referendum his opponents feared would enable him to push for constitutional changes to remain in office and move the country toward socialism.

Diplomats with the United Nations, the OAS, the United States and European countries were working behind the scenes Monday to seek common ground with interim President Roberto Micheletti, who has vowed not to negotiate until "things return to normal."

If he returns to Honduras, Zelaya faces arrest for 18 alleged criminal acts, including treason and failing to implement more than 80 laws approved by Congress since he took office in 2006.

Zelaya also defied a Supreme Court ruling against his planned referendum on whether to hold an assembly to consider changing the constitution. His political rivals ordered the military to remove him and stop the referendum, fearing that the exercise could encourage Zelaya's working-class base to push for a socialist state.

Suspended from the OAS, the interim Honduran government now faces trade sanctions and the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidized oil, aid and loans.

So far, the White House has called Zelaya's ouster "not legal." More than $100 million in U.S. assistance also would be lost if the U.S. State Department officially classifies Zelaya's ouster a "coup," triggering an automatic suspension.

Net neutrality doesn't exist, CRTC told

Don Bowman (right), chief technology officer for Sandvine, says the effects of congestion might adversely affect sound and video more than other applications. (Emily Chung/CBC)Internet congestion is inevitable and net neutrality does not exist, Canada's internet regulator was told Monday at hearings on how internet providers control and manage internet traffic and speed.

Senators sign Kovalev to 2-year deal

Winger Alex Kovalev spent the last six seasons in Montreal (Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)
Hours after Canadiens general manager Bob Gainey said winger Alex Kovalev wouldn't be returning to Montreal, the Russian agreed to a two-year, $10-million US contract with the Ottawa Senators on Monday.

Kovalev became an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and was offered a new contract by Gainey, but the 36-year-old took too long mulling over the deal.

"We hadn't agreed on the amount, but another player was willing to come and join our team," Gainey told Montreal radio station CJAD. To reach my first campsite, I followed a rutted dirt road along the bank of Hell Roaring Creek, and found a rocky path that led to an abandoned mine. A cold, mountain stream gurgled and murmured within its narrow banks, at the bottom of a narrow defile carved by furious erosion to expose towering, jagged cliffs of maroon sandstone on one side, and a more gently sloping mass of granite on the other. By early afternoon, the maroon hills were softened by shadow, too steep to allow even the high Colorado sun to fully illuminate the bottom of the miniature gorge. I unfolded my double-burner Coleman stove, and placed it carefully on the hood. As the twin burners hissed bright blue heat, searing mixed vegetables on one side and Dinty Moore on the other, I watched swallows dart after insects against the backdrop of the waning Rocky Mountain sunset. I basked, self satisfied, in the sounds of the gurgling creek, the ever softening sunlight, lengthening shadows, and lilting, cool breeze. As dusk encroached, I settled in by flashlight with a Stephen King novel. I read, mesmerized as rain pattered on the roof and lightning flashed, momentarily revealing the churning mass of foliage around me and briefly illuminating the high cliffs, now turned blood-black.
I awoke to quiet. But hadn't there been something, some slight noise? Yes, a rustling from the darkness. Now a gentle scraping, a hollow rasping as something brushed the truck's aluminum running board not two feet from where I lay. I stirred into a sitting position in preparation for daring to look upon the axe-wielding, vacant-eyed, shuffling menace who undoubtedly stood poised outside. There was nothing. Dismissing the episode, I slept fitfully until the bright, early morning Rocky Mountain sunrise awoke me. The following night, again I awoke to the sound of a scraping, hollow rasp coming from the direction of my truck. Surely this was not my imagination. With flashlight in hand, I peered into the gloom in time to see a low, loping shadow bound away. No axe-murdering fiend, but only a harmless animal! My mind at ease, I dropped off to sleep.
After returning to camp at the end of a long day, during which the circling vultures seemed to take more than a passing interest, my thoughts were only of rest. Again just after dark, a scraping, rustling sound emanated from beneath my truck. I raced the short distance to my vehicle, and a giant porcupine rocketed from underneath. In the morning, I began to wonder why a porcupine would show so much interest in visiting my truck every evening. The idea nagged at me, finally arousing my curiosity to the point where I had to crawl underneath and determine for myself what fascinations the undercarriage of a 1985 Dodge Ramcharger could hold. My amusement of the previous night quickly turned to shock as I saw the frayed, inner cording of the lower radiator hose, exposed where the rubber coating had been gnawed away. Similarly, the rubber connecting hose between the steel transmission cooling lines and the radiator had been gnawed to the inner wall. All three fall belts had been gnawed through to expose the thin steel wires. This was not quite so funny, and I suddenly was forced to consider myself in a potentially serious situation, facing the prospect of being stranded in the middle of nowhere.
The fourth night, as dusk approached, I sat with the window rolled down, waiting. After three nights in a row, would the porcupine pursue his apparently insatiable lust for rubber? I was a trespasser in his territory, but I had my own goals to achieve. Although not a charging grizzly, he had already demonstrated the capacity to leave me stranded in the wilderness. I wasn't entirely pleased with what I was contemplating because after all, the pistol was intended only for last ditch defense, the four-inch barrel designed for a point-blank deterrent against in-your-face aggression, of either the four-legged or two-legged variety. I waited for dark. Then, movement from the bushes as the giant porcupine slowly ambled into view. I gently shifted the revolver into my right hand, my fingers pressing the rough-textured rubber grip into my palm. My left hand curled around my right in a gentle caress. With my head motionless, and stare slightly averted from my prey, I slowly brought both arms up and out in a locked, extended position, aligning the short barrel roughly on the center-of-mass of the porcupine out of the corner of my eye. With the trigger slightly depressed, my thumb found the gnurled, rough surface of the hammer and silently locked it to the rear. My eyes shifted along the length of the barrel, aligning the sights. I began the slow squeeze that would send the hammer hurtling forward on its short, inexorable course.
The thunderous blast of the .44 Magnum exploded off the cliffs a split second before I felt the familiar sensation of a fastball slamming home into my palm. As my eyes adjusted to peer through the smoke and gloom, I saw the porcupine scrambling back up the path, perhaps the first time in his long dominion over this meadow that he had ever had to scramble. No, I wouldn't leave a wounded animal, nor would I repeat this debacle night after night. I leapt from the truck and raced up the short, steep hill, feet scrabbling for purchase on the loose, gravelly soil. As I turned onto the path, there was the porcupine, moving with amazing speed. I bolted after him, too close to miss, my heart pounding with a mixture of blood lust and a desire to make an end of this awful task. Another blast, like dynamite within the confines of the narrow gorge, and the .44 belched smoke and flame enough for a line of musket-firing dragoons. Quills flew and the porcupine dropped, twitching and spent. One final blast for the coup de grace. I derived no enjoyment from the destruction of such a creature, whose only sin had been an unnatural craving for rubber, unfortunately at my expense, and ultimately his own.

Here's a news flash for you! If you have been in a coma or have spent the last half century on Neptune, you should know that the golf industry is now a multibillion dollar a year business. What did we learn in paragraph one?
