This classic wine cellar option offers protection from direct sunlight, ambient ground temperature, and often higher than normal humidity. We built this cellar with a door, hidden as a wall, and a simple sitting area to relax while considering and enjoying the options.

Wine Pods

Enclosed pods are climate-controlled just like a room or cellar, usually enclosed in glass, and often incorporated into a great room, dining area, or kitchen. We built this glass encased pod with a beautiful, custom steel wine rack.

Wine Walls

Wine walls are a great alternative to a wine cellar or room. They take up much less space and can be incorporated into a dining space or kitchen for convenience and style.

A well designed home fits and flows with your lifestyle -accommodating your needs, providing the type of space you need and setting the tone for time spent with family and friends. Setting your mind on a design feature or style early in the process can actually make things worse. Instead, keep your lifestyle at the forefront of your planning process. Focus on the problems or frustrations you have with the current space and consider solutions. This will result in renovations that are longer lasting and more pleasing.

The Condition of Your Home

Depending on the age of your home, you’ll need to identify whether you are in need of minor cosmetic changes or bigger, structural renovations. Remember “old” doesn’t mean it will be harder and “new” doesn’t mean it will be easy. From sagging floors and crooked walls to electrical and plumbing concerns, you’ll want an expert on your side to identify the “guts” of your remodel plans and identify budget concerns.

The Size of Your Space

Considering the size of your existing space and the space you want in the end it critical. If you’re adding a kitchen island, make sure you’re not blocking the flow by cramming too much into too small a space. Similarly, if you’ve got a large space, you’ll want to include features that still create a sense of connection.

Setting a realistic budget from the get-go is key to a successful and satisfying remodel. From the onset, identify must-have elements and those that you’re willing to let go. Having a clear vision about where you want to save and where you’re willing to splurge is incredibly helpful.  Working with an architect and builder simultaneously is a great way to keep the scope of your remodel in line with your ideal dollar amount.  Once you’ve solidified your plan, stick to it. Changing your mind on materials and finishes mid-project can quickly lead to budget overages.

Wood grain tile can be the perfect solution for high use or wet areas like a shower or kitchen. The industry has made leaps and bounds in producing beautifully believable faux finishes. Even the surface texture has improved with details that are deeply embedded in the material. Look for expanding design choices that include the look of wood, marble, granite or even cement.

Even a contemporary home can incorporate the look of oriental tapestries and neoclassical lace patterns. Ancient Mediterranean motifs paired with sleek fixtures can create in a timeless and elegant space.

Using sliding barn doors to mark the entrance to a special space, like this children’s study room, can be a the perfect blend of style and function. Sliding doors can be a versatile decor solution. These rustic sliders support the home’s styling while offering the quiet offered by a closed door.

Like an Accent Wall, But Better

Using distressed wood or smooth, painted panels as sliding barn doors turns an accent wall into something far more interesting and functional. It seems that the classic subway tile is “cementing itself as a style element of our generation,” according to designer Bobby Berk. Whether you use it to create a sense reminiscent of an old farmhouse, or to include subtle texture with modern, clean lines, this classic tile will not disappoint.

Escapism

Expect to see more simple nooks for reading, resting, or retrieving. Whether it’s a simple window seat, a meditation room, or something more unique, creating space to quietly unplug will become increasingly popular.
