Timberline Lodge Scheduled For Needed Improvements

Timberline Lodge, now entering its 72nd year, will be undergoing some needed historic preservation and maintenance work later this summer.

Friends of the Forest Day - 9am-1 pm, Sunday, August 10 2008 – FREE!

On Sunday, August 10, The National Forest Foundation, Columbia Sportswear and Timberline Lodge will host Timberline Trails Friends of the Forest Day in order to provide lovers and users of Timberline an opportunity to continue in their long tradition of involvement.

Timberline Lodge Presents the Mountain Music Series :: Thursday Afternoons Aug. 7 - Sept. 4.

Featured as "Free Music To The People", Timberline Lodge is kicking off a series of free concerts in their newly renovated outdoor amphitheater. The shows will take place on Thursday afternoons in August, ending on September 4th. The shows will start at 2:30 p.m. and feature performers of acoustic blues, bluegrass, and folk music. Timberline's Mountain Music Series is sponsored by the Boyd Coffee Company.

Volunteer Interpretive Program Kicks off Season at Timberline Lodge.

The Volunteer Interpretive Program is in full swing, with a group of 5 student interns and 6 community volunteers offering free guided tours, nature hikes, recreation and visitor information and special programs to the hundreds of thousands of visitors the Lodge receives each summer.

Timberline Kicks Off Oregon's Famous Summer Ski and Snowboard Season.

While other ski areas have closed their lift operations weeks ago, Mt Hood's Timberline ski area is at the beginning of their world famous summer ski and snowboard season. In the coming months, skiers and snowboarders from around the world will flock to the Palmer Snowfield, high on Mt. Hood’s south slope.

Gary Larsen Recognized as Forest Service Partner of the Year.

Portland, OR – Earlier today, the members of the Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association named Gary Larsen the 2008 Forest Service Partner of the Year. This honor recognizes environmental stewardship, knowledge of ski area operations, and contributions to ski area permit administration (administration of special uses).

Timberline Hosts 7th Annual Cutter's Camp This Week.

On May 5-9, 2008, Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge will host snowcat operators and resort professionals from around the world for what has become the most important annual event for the people in our industry who build freestyle terrain features and operate freestyle terrain parks.

Special Event 5/31 - Celebration of The 75th Anniversary of The New Deal.

The year 2008 marks the 75th anniversary of the inauguration of the New Deal.
The New Deal programs changed the face of the Mount Hood National Forest. Timberline Lodge was constructed as a WPA project and the campgrounds and trails were constructed by the CCC. These places are still used today by visitors to the forest.

Timberline announces more great spring skiing values!

Spring is in the air, and we're looking forward to a fantastic end of April and May. With our lifts running for the spring season 7 days a week through May 26th (we're the only ski area on Mt. Hood to do this), and an incredible base of snow from this winter, we'll have great conditions straight through to the end of the spring season -- and our world famous summer ski season!

Friends of the Forest Day At Timberline Lodge - August 10th.

The National Forest Foundation has partnered with R.L.K. and Company and the United States Forest Service to offer "Friends of the Forest Day" at Timberline Lodge on Sunday, August 10, 2008.

Palmer planned opening for the spring and summer ski season!

The Timberline Mountain Operations Team is working hard to get our Palmer Chairlift up and running for the spring and summer season. We have a tentative opening planned for this weekend!

(Atlanta, Georgia) – The Diabetes Sports and Wellness Foundation is proud to announce our 2008 Snowboard and Ski Camp to be held at Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood Oregon on April 11-13, 2008, with this years special guest - professional snowboard champion Sean Busby and his “Riding On Insulin” Snowboard Team.

Ski free this Friday at Skibowl and Timberline!

Skiers and riders can get a free all-day Fusion Pass lift ticket valid 9am-4pm at Mt. Hood Skibowl and Timberline Ski Area for simply donating four cans of nonperishable food to Sunshine Division. Skiers and riders simply bring their canned food to Sunshine Division's trucks in the parking lot of either ski area this Friday, March 7th.

A New Winter Entry for the Lodge

If there is a design flaw to Timberline Lodge, it is in the way the building loses easy access in the wintertime due to snow. In the 1950's, R.L.K. and Company provided a very practical solution in the form of the current Quonset Hut structure we are all familiar with, and it has served us well. However, while successful from a utilitarian standpoint, some argue that this isn't a design solution in keeping with the Lodge's grand architecture.

Snow Continues to Pile Up at Timberline

Heavy snows have continued to fall on Mt. Hood and the Cascade foothills this week, bringing the total base of snow at Timberline Lodge to a near-record 177 inches, measured on February 1st. at 6 a.m. Snow has continued to fall during the day and another large snowstorm is forecasted for Friday evening, into Saturday.

A New Puppy for Timberline Lodge, and the Tradition Continues

Oregon's famous Timberline Lodge is a place of traditions, and one such tradition continues this week with the arrival of Bruno, a new St. Bernard puppy. Since 1937, when Franklin Roosevelt dedicated the lodge, St. Bernards have been a part of the alpine landscape
