Obsessed with weddings and event planning? Want to learn the ins and outs of the wedding business? Organized to a fault? Were looking for an outgoing, detail-oriented, multi-tasking, social-media savvy, spring/summer 2013 intern to join our team.

Our intern will learn the ins and outs of owning a small business, creating timelines and proposals for clients, marketing, sourcing potential clients, interacting with vendors, coordinating and assisting weddings + social events, photoshoots, and more!

Some Tasks include:

-research and planning assistance
-brainstorming/problem-solving
-social media networking
-inspiration board creation and blogging
-creating timelines/proposals
-photo shoot planning and onsite assistance
-interfacing with clients
-shadowing at meetings and thorough note taking
-answering phones (professional, phone manners/etiquette a must)
-working weddings/events some weekends which includesetting up, assisting during the event, cleaning up, being on your feet!

Internships Requirements:
-6 month commitment
-must be located in the Atlanta metro area
-seriously interested in wedding and event planning
-enviable organization and time-management skills
-exceptional writing + communication skills, people person
-great work ethic, super responsible/dependable
-trustworthy + reliable
-self-starter and proactive (thinks ahead to be helpful and doesnt always wait to be directed)
-Serious Social Media/ Blog skills
- proficiency in WordPress, MS Office (and Photoshop is a plus)
- great sense of style/fashion
-must have a reliable car and computer

Spring 2013 Wedding Fashion Trends

 Every bride wants a dress that flatters her figure and makes her feel beautiful in a unique way. Whether it is about vintage-inspired details with a modern twist, simple lace elegance, or a blast of color, the Spring 2013 trends for wedding dresses have a little something for everyone. Keep these trends in mind while you search for the dress you will walk down the aisle in.

 Color

Colored wedding dresses have been popular with celebrities for years, inspiring a trend of non-white wedding gowns in the latest collections for brides looking for a little less tradition and a lot more “wow” factor.  Spring 2013 wedding dress trends are revealing subtle hues of pink, cream, blue, and for the daring, even black. Many celebrities like Jessica Biel have opted for a wedding dress in a shade of pink like this beautiful blush gown from the White by Vera Wang Collection at David’s Bridal.

Beautiful Backs

 Dramatic backs are one of the most glamorous trends for spring wedding gowns.  Designers have made sure that brides look as beautiful going as they do coming.  Keyhole backs are a subtle detail that can make such a romantic statement on your wedding day.  There are also plenty of other options such as halter tie bows that offer a sexy, modern twist on wedding dresses from the past.  Guests will take notice as the bride’s back is usually on display during the ceremony, as well as the first dances.

Peplum

 Peplum dresses have been a big trend in the collections of the designers lately, including wedding dress designers.  This style adds an airy, light layer of fabric to the waist of the gown that is meant to flatter the bride’s figure and proportion.  You can expect this to be a popular spring trend for women that desire a delicate, but dramatic, fashion-conscious bridal look.

Spring Colors

 Every Fall and Spring, Pantone, the world renowned authority on color, releases a Fashion Color Report.  This report is based on the use of certain colors in the latest collections of major designers.  The Fashion Color Report Spring 2013 is full of beautiful bold and bright colors that you can expect to see all over as part of wedding color schemes for and for bridesmaid dresses.

After seeing this recipe on Design Sponge and reading the ingredients, I knew it had to be shared. It’s unique, it’s feminine for your big day!

Ingredients:
1.5 oz of Hendrick’s gin (this is a rose & cucumber infused gin)
.75 oz of Rose syrup (make at home with rose water and simple syrup or buy locally)
.25 oz of Fresh lemon juice
.75 oz of Fresh grapefruit juice (ruby red preferably)
2 dashes of Peychauds bitters (Peychaud is credited with first creating the cocktail)
1 Cardamom Pod

Directions: “Methodology”

1) Lightly muddle 1 cardamom pod at the bottom of shaker (not too much muddling or it will overpower the drink)
2) Add the rest of the ingredients
3) Add ice
4) Shake for 20 seconds
5) Strain over fresh ice to remove the cardamom pod
6) Add a splash of seltzer water
7) Garnish with rose petals or fresh lemon wedge (use organic if possible)

Follow along with this easy tutorial from The Sweetest Occasion and in no time you’ll have a piece of wedding day decor that will easily dress any part of your shabby-chic barn reception or garden soiree.

What you’ll need:

• wood burning kit
• wooden planks
• charcoal pencil
• white paper
• printer

What to do from the words of Eden via The Sweetest Occasion:

“On a computer, type out or design whatever you want your wooden sign to say. Choose a fabulous font that fits the style of your event. If you like the one I used in this DIY project, you can download it here! It will fit a small wooden plank perfectly.

In order for the size of the letters or font to fit on the wooden plank, you may need to print a few copies, adjusting the size until it fits perfectly on the wood piece.

Once you have the correct size, turn the paper over and with a charcoal pencil trace the back of your design. Make sure to trace hard enough so the charcoal will transfer onto the wooden plank.”

“When all of the letters are traced, place the paper on the wooden plank with the charcoal side facing down. Press firmly on the letters to make sure they transfer nicely to the wood. Remove the paper when you’re finished.

There should be a nice outline of your letters for you to trace. With the wood burning tool (which can get extremely hot, so be careful) start to trace and fill in the letters. Once you complete one letter move on to the next. You will get the hang of it after the first letter. Have fun!”

• Make a “look book.”

  Tear out pictures from magazines, compile photos from friends’ weddings, and round up fabric swatches and anything else that may help you communicate your taste to the sales staff or dressmaker. Paste everything into an album or a blank book.

• Determine your budget.

• Think about the wedding location.

  If you’re getting hitched at city hall, you may want to skip an elaborate, formal gown. Also consider the religious affiliation, if any, of the location and its rules with regard to modesty.

• Consider the temperature.

  If you’re having a beach ceremony, you’ll want a fabric such as cotton eyelet that won’t wilt in the humidity. Winter weddings call for heftier materials, like satin or silk shantung.

• Scout dresses at retail stores.

  If you’re on a budget, browse wedding collections at jcrew.com and anntaylor.com. Note what dresses work best with your body type.

• Or visit a custom dressmaker.

  Think about what questions you would ask.

• Make your buy about eight months before the wedding.

  You need to allow time for fittings.

• Buy undergarments.

  If your gown doesn’t have a built-in corset, ask the dress salesperson what type of underpinning you need. Make sure to try on everything with your gown at your final fitting.

Your Accessories

• Choose a headpiece.

  Experiment with a variety of lengths and shapes to see what best complements your gown. At veilshop.com you can design your own. Other options: tiaras, silk flowers, vintage combs, or pearl or crystal hairpins.

• Settle on shoes.
