I am a huge choc-o-holic but all this time I've seriously been missing out! If you've never tried Guylian chocolates like me then you are in for a treat! This is a great way to throw a little sweetness this Mothers Day to the lovely lady in your life!

These Belgian Chocolate truffles are super rich and CREAMY as their box states and that’s a fact! These come in beautifully detailed sea shapes like sea horse, clam etc perfect for any occasion. If you throw dinner parties, I’d suggest putting these out for your guests.

I’m a mom and already told hubs to keep these in mind for me instead of the famous “gamble” chocolates. There’s no gamble here, just sheer chocolate love. If you are a chocolate lover I’m certain you’ll appreciate that these are not only decadent but affordable as well. You can find these located at many places like Walmart or look up the stores by your State http://www.guylianbelgianchocolate.com/Location.aspx.

Fun Fact
Guy Fouber began chocolate making in 1958 and is the first chocolatier to bring together and marble the intricate flavor of Belgian. I also encourage you to check out their website http://www.guylianbelgianchocolate.com/FAQ.aspx for other fun facts like the meaning behind the seahorse! Additionally check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Guylian and see what they are up to!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Whitney Farms. All opinions are 100% mine.

While I have dabbled with kitchen herbs/gardening in the past, I haven’t yet this year been able to jump on it just yet. Our weather has been uncertain and unpredictable to say the least this spring. I’m lucky what I did plant is still alive at this point! However if it’s prime time planting season in your area you may be interested to know that Whitney Farms just created a full line of 100% natural plant foods and soils with no additives or anything artificial. Their line is designed with ingredients from the Earth to give you big beautiful flowers and veggies!

While I don’t have a beautiful garden at this point I like the idea of making it all organic with organic soil and organic plant food. I love lush beautiful bright green gardens with pops of color.

For all you gardeners out there, you may want to snag this Whitney Farms® $3 coupon!

	Product Highlights

-Over 25 years in the gardening business
-low to no dust
-no manure odor
-easy to apply
-Contains beneficial microbes
-Specially designed protein-based blends provide your plants with
both macro and micronutrients they need to grow and thrive

I hear more and more about superfoods that have high antioxidant levels each time I turn on the TV. One of my favorite doctor shows also emphasizes the health benefits from superfoods like blueberries, broccoli, tea, acai berries and even one of my favorites which is spinach. I for one am a fruit and veggie lover but admittedly do not eat them nearly as often as I should. As far as spinach, my love for that didn’t come to be until I became an adult despite watching many Popeye shows!

It’s been shown with studies that superfoods can have anti-aging qualities (yes, count me in!), can help protect against heart disease, and many more health benefits. Many superfoods can be found right at your favorite stores and online like at www.hollandandbarrett.com.

Image: Grant Cochrane

One thing about me is that I typically shy away from studies because they are always changing. However I’ve never been told that tomatoes were bad for you or oats for example. So these superfoods make sense to me and I’ve always looked at them as healthier food options for myself. In addition I grew up on these foods. I’d much rather eat a tasty dish or fresh fruit versus a supplement wouldn’t you? Have you jumped on the superfood bandwagon and if so have you noticed any changes? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I'm in love with broccoli soup. More so when it has cheese in it like this recipe. Although I'm not a fan of carrots, I can totally dig them when they are used to enhance or sweeten a dish as long as I don't have to taste them too much. I think that just stems from my childhood! A fast, good comfort soup that's easy to make and requires little ingredients was just what the doctor ordered. I needed a break from all the Thanksgiving leftovers so I made this soup. Perfect for a cool rainy day! I found this recipe at cdkitchen which has a bunch of recipes submitted by regular folks like you and me. It's supposedly supposed to be like Panera breads soup however, I have never ate there (if you can believe it) so I can't vouch for that. But they just built one in my area so I may have to give it a whirl! I also took advice from some of the comments and added a nab of Dijon mustard to mine as well.

Ingredients
1 tbsp butter
1 small onion choppped
1/4 cup butter
1/4 flour
2 cups milk or half n half
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 lb broccoli chopped (I used frozen)
1 cup carrots julienne (cut like matchsticks)
8 ounces shredded cheese (I used Mexican blend but any cheddar would do)

Extras - 1 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp dijon mustard, s/p, garlic powder

Directions
Saute onion in 1 tbsp of butter and set aside. In a soup pot, melt 1/4 cup butter and whisk 1/4 flour over med heat creating a rue. This should get a golden browned color and should take about 3-5 minutes.

Add 2 cups milk and the 2 cups chicken stock to the rue and whisk frequently simmering 20 minutes. Then add the broccoli, carrots and onions. Cook on low until the vegetables are tender about 20 minutes. At this point the soup should have started thickening some. You may want to season it with salt/pepper or wait until you've added the cheese. I also added in a dash of garlic powder (not too much).

Pour in blender and puree. I was able to get my whole batch in and blend it nicely. Return this mixture to the pot and over low heat gradually add in your cheese in batches. Stirring it in as it melts.

At this point you may want to season it with nutmeg and Dijon.

I liked how it turned out but if it's too thick, you can add a little extra milk to it as the cheese does thicken it quite a bit.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Chili’s Grill & Bar. All opinions are 100% mine.

Last time I ate at Chili’s we had a date night and took advantage of their “unreal meal deal” which was two Margaritas, an appetizer, two entrees and dessert for $35. It was great way to end the work week. The food was great, the atmosphere pleasant, the service fast and friendly. To boot we had a wonderfully crafted adult cocktail to top off the entire meal. Definitely something we would do again!

For our appetizer we got the Texas Cheese Fries, yum. These are definitely a fulfilling way to start a meal; get ready to indulge. I also ordered the fajitas for my entrée and while I know the dessert was decadent, I can’t say I had much room left for it by the time it came around. I think this was a great and affordable way to spend a date night. The Margaritas were just the icing on the cake.

Are you a Chili’s fan or enjoy indulging in an adult cocktail every once in awhile? Do you love their Margaritas so much that you want to buy yours a beer? I will tell you first hand that their Margaritas are worth trying; ours were absolutely awesome! If you like em’ as much as I do then you may want to try the new CornoaRita Margarita made with Jose Cuervo Especial Tequila and Coronita!

Many of us already love to go to Chili’s now there’s even more reason to go and celebrate - it’s nearly Cinco de Mayo and after that - summertime!!! What better way to celebrate the season than with a delicious meal (ladies night out anyone?!?) and maybe washing it down with a new CoronaRita at Chili's (or two..shh). I’m simply all for date night, yeah!

Have you visited Chili’s lately if so what’s one item you like best or your thoughts on the new CoronaRita?

Good news! We've finally finished painting our kitchen. We still have a few odds and ends to do but I am loving the color we chose. I'll share it with you guys soon!

Here's one slow and low recipe that I nabbed, tried and fell in love with. I made a batch of it up so that we'd have some good leftovers for those too tired to cook evenings.

2 lbs beef stew meat
2 cans golden mushroom soup
1 cup red wine (I used Chianti)
1 package of onion soup mix
1 6.5 oz can of mushrooms plus the juice

Place all your ingredients in a crockpot, cover and cook on low for about 6 hours. It's best to stir this every hour or so. I noticed that mine wanted to stick a bit. Serve over egg noodles (I used extra wide).

The wine flavor definitely gets more predominant as it sits. I enjoyed this even more the next day! It really gets the meat good and tender.

I like this salad and it's even better the next day. I like having no fuss, quickies in the refrigerator for fast lunches, snack or just those exhausting days when you really don't feel like cooking! That's been my role lately since we are still slowly carving away at our kitchen painting etc.

3/4 cup of Ranch dressing
2 tsp minced garlic
1/4 cup or more of chopped cilantro
2 tsp finely diced fresh jalapeno
2 whole green onions chopped
2 tsp lime juice
2 cups cooked chopped chicken
2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
1 can black beans drained and rinsed well
1 can corn
drained
1/2 of a 10oz bag of chopped Romanne lettuce
tomatoes optional

Mix all of your ingredients together in a big bowl. Best if chilled in the refrigerator. I like to serve this with those colored tortilla strips.

I made some purple pickled eggs right before Easter. This is actually my first attempt as I don't eat them. I made them for hubs as an alternative to deviled eggs this year. I found a super easy yet simple recipe online for them that was right up my alley. Now I can't tell you personally how they tasted because I still can't bring myself to eat a purple egg if you can fathom that. But it is hubs approved! By the way if you do anything special with your pickled eggs I've love to know.

Here's what you will need. I made a batch of 8 up.

I used 8 boiled and peeled eggs for my batch.
I used 1 can of beet juice (reserving the beets) along with equal parts of sugar, and vinegar. You want to measure your beet juice in a measuring cup and whatever that amount is will be the same amount you use for the sugar and vinegar.
Put your eggs in a jar (I used a mason jar) and throw your beets on top of those (to weigh them down). I actually put mine in last and it wasn't a big deal.

On the stove heat up your beet juice, sugar, and vinegar until your sugar dissolves and comes to a boil then pour over your eggs.

Cover with a lid and let sit over night. Stir the next day. Hubs actually ate one the next day but preferably you want it to sit and pickle for at least 48 hours to 3 days. The longer the better.

From the site I found this recipe it says that because they are pickled they will keep up to 2 weeks however I know everyone's opinion varies on that.

I have also heard of other odds and ends people throw in theirs for flavor such as peppercorns, peppers, garlic, etc. What are your favorites?

Hungry Yet?

10% Off Lot 26 Studio - A Taste of Springn in the Kitchen

If you're like me then you're ready to see Old Man Winter leave and never return (please and thank you). I wake up every morning and look outside hoping to see flowers blooming and blossoms on the tree.

If you want to turn your kitchen or home into a Spring Haven regardless of the weather outside then tune into Lot 26 Studio! This site hands down has some awsome products to help get you in the mood for spring or any occassion for that matter even if Old Man Winter is still lingering!

Below are a few of my favorites right now at Lot 26 Studio:

It's like the old saying "Spring showers bring May flowers" and the Poppies wall art is the perfect depiction of that childhood statement. These colorful flowers are perfect for a living room or kitchen and will stay bloomed all year long! I am keeping this on my list (I Love Love Love!)for when we get done with our kitchen painting!

Another reason I adore spring is the birds chirping in the trees and filling the air with music. The Birds On Branches wall decal adds the perfect color and attitude for any room, not just the kitchen! Who doesn't love the vibrant colors of the season? Just peel and stick - Right up my alley!

I almost forgot the best part! Currently, Lot 26 Studio is offering 10% off the entire store with promo code BLOOM10. (Good through March 31, 2012) With this offer you can almost trick Old Man Winter into leaving. Happy Shopping!

This guest post from Walter Horn

The most exciting time of my
life had become nothing of the future but a moment in the present. I was
sitting at the dinner table with a letter of either acceptance or
rejection from Valdosta University. This had been a dream of mine and my
best friends since we were in the fourth grade. My parents stared
blanketly at me as I opened up the letter. I unfolded the paper and saw
big bold letters “accepted”, I stuttered. An immediate reaction was the
phone ringing it was my best friend she screamed in the phone letting me
know she was accepted also. The next few weeks we planned just how our
rental house would look picking out color schemes, furniture, and
lighting. The one thing we could not decide on was the Best TV Option.
We thought and thought and thought and then came up with the idea to
buy a small package so we would not be distracted by television during
our studies but still get to watch our favorite shows.

Earlier in the week, I mentioned the Hellman's Chicken Challenge and decided to finally try one of their very high rated chicken recipes. It's about time! We were really surprised at how good this recipe was and I was even happier at how fast it cooked up and how few ingredients were involved. This is my new to-go to recipe for quickie dinners.

Ingredients
3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts - halved (I used 3)
1/2 cup mayo
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
4 tsp Italian bread crumbs

Directions
Preheat oven to 425. Flatten chicken (for quicker baking time) if needed (I didn't) otherwise place in a baking dish.

Combine mayo and cheese and spread fairly evenly over your chicken. Then top with your breadcrumbs. That's IT! Place it in the oven, uncovered until your chicken is done (20 minutes or more). I left mine in for about 35 minutes.

Voila...it's been tested...we are fans. Give it a whirl!
I love Gift Baskets. I was taking a peek at GourmetGiftBaskets.com and how much they have grown their selection since the last time I checked them out. They have beer baskets, baseball baskets and even have a Barefoot Contessa Gift Basket. A lot of these could easily be made at home with the right arranging. I'm thinking of a great "salad" specific type basket with all types of vinaigrettes, gourmet salad toppers and things of that nature. Oh wait...they have those too!

Earlier this week I got an Everyday Food Magazine (budget version) in the mail and while rummaging through it I came across a quickie throw together salad recipe and thought I'd give it a whirl. Since we are not completely done with our construction/work, I'm on the lookout for very easy recipes with little ingredients to make my job easier. This one is a keeper.

Ingredients
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp evoo
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
salt/pepper

(I doubled this recipe and used it on a whole head of torn iceberg lettuce- I like a wet salad)

Directions
Simply whisk the ingredients together until well blended. Serve over your favorite greens.

Ever since we got cleartvbundle, I have had a little extra money in my pocket at the end of the month. By a little extra money, I mean at least thirty extra dollars a month. I had been over paying for years. It wasn’t until my sister suggested that I look into bundling that I had every thought about it. I decided that I was going to use the extra thirty bucks every month to spend on myself and not feel guilty about it. I have been splurging twice a week on my favorite coffee drink from the shop across the street. My favorite drink ( when it is warm enough) is an iced mocha made with skim milk. I know that it can’t be that good for you, because it tastes like chocolate milk, but I love it! They are just about five dollars a piece after tip and I used to feel guilty when I would buy them, even though I love them. Saving this money and considering it “fun” money makes it easier for me to really enjoy them more often!

I made this "gold-ish" color for Mardi Gras but regardless of what color you want it's easy peasy. Just take some sugar and add a few drops food coloring to it and experiment.

I mixed mine with a spoon. It may try to clump on you but just continue working the sugar until fully colored (add more food coloring/sugar if needed) and worked out.

That's it! This would be fun craft type thing to do with the kids.
Hello! Pardon the brief absence, we've been doing some work on our home which as of late has included some things in the kitchen. It started as a small feat but has become more than we initially wanted to get into. We are doing quite a mixture of things but revolves some drywall work, painting, and even tile work. One of our tiles actually busted during our "demo" so to speak and cleaning up drywall dust is a pain.

Needless to say, I actually haven't cooked since probably last week. I have to squeak out a meal here and there for the sake of it but they will and are definitely crock-pots or quickies. Thank goodness for mother-in-laws, she's been our chef as of late and we've been eating left over lasagna for the past three nights! I will say that this kind of work does bring on some monster appetites though!

I've been doing lunches with one of my favorite all time sandwiches that I grew up on, tomato sandwich! These are awesome when tomatoes are in season but sliced tomatoes, mayo and salt and pepper is all I need. As far as my sweet tooth, well if I keep browsing cheesecake.com I might just gain a few pounds. I am going to have to make one of these soon and if not Easter would be great. I'm leaning toward the turtle cheesecake or the strawberry, yum yum! By the way, know of any great kitchen paint colors that you love and would recommend?
Would you believe though that I've never ever been a fan of pimento cheese....yuk. I've just never liked the taste and cringed when my mom would make pimento cheese sandwiches and I of course had to eat it, detesting every bite. I grew up in the South and until now really had no idea that it was what some call a "Southern Thang". I should have known..lol I've never heard the phrase "pimento cheese" even uttered since I've lived up North.

Am I alone on this one or are you a huge fan of them? I'll admit I've never ate it as an adult and I do like each ingredient so I think I may have to enlighten myself as tastes do change. This one I found on food network - Bobby's Pimento Cheese sounds like a great place to start.

Ingredients
2 cups dry egg noodles cooked and drained
2 cans Tuna drained
1 can cream of mushroom or cream of celery
1/2 cup milk or half n half
1 can peas drained - I prefer Le Sueur Sweet Peas
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup bread crumbs mixed with 1-2 tbsp melted butter
salt/pepper to taste

Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Spray casserole dish with Pam. Mix all of your ingredients together in a bowl except for the bread crumbs. Spread your mix into your casserole dish and top with your bread crumbs and bake uncovered for about 30 minutes.

Enjoy! Simple weeknight dinner are grand aren't they?
Happy Fat Tuesday everyone! Today I'm sharing a great Mardi Gras recipe for Root Beer Frosting perfect for those King Cakes! Zatarains sent me this recipe as well as a few others for our Mardi Gras "House Party"!

This is terribly easy and actually yummy especially if you like Root Beer.

Ingredients
1 pound of powdered sugar
1/4 cup of flour - all purpose
1/4 lb of butter
1/4 cup of water
1/2 cup of shortening/oil
pinch of salt
1 tsp of Root Beer Extract (Zatarains)

Directions
Combine all of your ingredients in a medium to large bowl and beat with a mixer until light and fluffy. I scooped my frosting into a ziploc bag and cut the corner so I could just pipe it onto my cupcakes.

Traditionally, if you make king cupcakes, you scoop out about a 1/4 tsp of the center and insert a fava bean (which you should not eat).

I further added some festive sprinkles....

What's your favorite Mardi Gras recipe to make?
This is a recipe that I found on the Pillsbury website. It's extremely easy to whip these up but be forewarned, they do not last long, at least in my house!

Ingredients
1 can (8 count) Pillsbury Big and Flaky crescent dinner rolls
½ cup chocolate chips
Powdered sugar

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Unroll your dough to expose 8 flat triangles and sprinkle the chocolate chips over them.

Roll them up and placed on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Yea, I went a little heavy on the powdered sugar!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Walgreens is offering a special discount for those wanting to take advantage of their annual membership Prescription Savings club! For $35 a year, the family membership would cover everyone in your immediate family as well as your beloved pets! This plan also includes up to 20 dependents! That's a lot of dependents! When you join, you’ll receive discount prices on your prescriptions. If you just want to add yourself to their savings plan then it is $20 a year for individuals.

A snapshot of the many other benefits the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club offers is listed below:

	- Savings on more than 8,000 brand-name and all generic medication

	- Discounts on flu shots, your pets prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies

	- Extra bonuses when you purchase Walgreens brand products and take advantage of their photo finishing services.

For more details, I would suggest visiting your local Walgreens and speaking with a pharmacist. I think it’s great that they include pets in on this. You never know when they too will need a prescription. We have cats and (knock on wood) they've never had urinary tract problems but even something as simple as an antibiotic for that would be a good example of how the plans discounts could come in handy when it comes to our furry relatives.

I also like that whether you rely heavily on prescriptions throughout the year or not , you can still gain rewards in the form of lower prices on Walgreens brand products which I assume also includes any over the counter medications. I've tried a few Walgreens brand foodie items and even things like Walgreens brand mouthwash, and I'll be honest, it's very comparable to name brand. If you are already enrolled in the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club, I’d love to hear your thoughts on how it may be working out for you and your family?
