Instead of paying attention to the continued killings of American military in Afghanistan, which remains a threat to the United States, President Obama chooses to focus on Syria which is no threat to the United States, even after the United Nations (which I don’t believe in, but he does) said “NO” to intervention in Syria, he continues to avoid his real responsibilities to the United States.

Here is a video of Obama’s Presidential Announcement at West Point on his Afghanistan War Strategy. Like so many times in his past, his words don’t matchup to his actions.

What will wimpy Obama do to deal on the higher priority issue of Afghanistan?

Part of the series, What Will Wimpy Obama Do? Read the Introduction to this series.

President Obama is the opposite of President Kennedy. Direct threats made against the United States are unanswered by his Administration except to say, “give diplomacy more time.” Too much time has been wasted already on diplomacy. Obama is a pacifist, a weak leader when it comes to addressing direct threats against our nation.

The latest direct threat, in a series of direct threats, is described in today’s, New York Times article, Iran Warns of Pre-Emptive Action in Nuclear Dispute in which the quotes below indicate:

“Without mentioning Israel directly, Mohammed Hejazi, the deputy armed forces head, said on Tuesday: “Our strategy now is that if we feel our enemies want to endanger Iran’s national interests, and want to decide to do that, we will act without waiting for their actions,” Reuters reported. Divisions in Iran’s leadership make it difficult to interpret the government’s intentions, but the statement showed a new level of aggressiveness in Iran’s rhetoric.”

What will wimpy Obama do in the face of this additional aggressive Iranian position?

In another New York Times article also today, Republican Candidates See Opening on Israel and Iran, the GOP is hammering Obama in related issues. The quote below is just part of the severe criticism of Obama’s failed Iranian policy:

“Now, Republicans appear eager to use the administration’s wariness of an Israeli strike on Iran to paint Mr. Obama as a reluctant supporter of Israel’s security. Mr. Obama won more than three-quarters of the Jewish vote in 2008, according to exit polls, but Republicans hope that attacks on his support of Israel could both appeal to Jewish voters — a small but important constituency, especially in some swing states, like Florida — and to other voters who are committed to protecting Israel.

In an op-ed article in The Wall Street Journal last year, Mr. Romney accused the president of appeasing the Iranians and said that “we’ve been offered a case study in botched diplomacy and its potentially horrific costs.”

What will wimpy Obama do in response to these statements?

Part of the series, What Will Wimpy Obama Do? Read the Introduction to this series.

Wrong Direction Obama’s restrictive energy policies amount to an unfair and burdensome tax on the most vulnerable in our society—all consumers.

I quote from this linked article:

But America’s dependence of foreign oil and gas sources has been reduced, not eliminated. The nation imports 15 percent less petroleum than in 2005 — in part because of the recession. But prices have soared; we cannot disentangle ourselves so easily from the global oil supply balance. As a result, in 2011, the United States paid a net of $326.5 billion for oil imports, accounting for 44 percent of the U.S. trade deficit. The crude oil import bill was the second highest ever, narrowly less than in 2008 and nearly twice as much as it was in 2005.

That drains money from the pockets of American consumers. The Automobile Association of America estimates, for example, that buying gasoline costs the average Virginia household $428 a month.

What would wimpy Obama do to help out all American energy consumers?

This section, Introducing: What Will Wimpy Obama Do?, is the collection of my thoughts questioning President Obama’s policies and actions with respect to stronger Presidents of my lifetime: Kennedy and G.W. Bush. This collection will grow over time.

There are previous posts here that deal with Obama proper and his lack of effective leadership and adherence to the U.S. Constitution and federal laws.

The first reference has to do with Iran’s announcement that it has end-run the sanctions in place for years, supposedly to prevent Iran from enriching Uranium. I quote from that linked article:

Iran touted the advancements as steps in the country’s efforts to master the complete nuclear fuel cycle, despite Western penalties and U.N. sanctions aimed at stopping the process.

So what will wimpy Obama do about this dangerous Iranian capability?

The second reference has to do with Iran’s shadowing the U.S. ships in the Strait of Hormuz as they enter the Persian Gulf. I quote from that article:

With just six poorly equipped corvettes, IISS says it’s nearly impossible for the Iranians to compete with the U.S. Navy. Their reports says that in the event of attack, however, Iran would employ mines, torpedoes, rockets and anti-ship missiles while trying to avoid direct conflict with U.S. ships.

IISS speculates that the Iranians would bring out their fast attack subs and ships to attack at sea, and use flat-bed trucks to fire anti-ship missiles from land.

What will wimpy Obama do about those provocative Iranian actions?

I recall President Kennedy’s tough response during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. The video below is an important announcement and decision by Kennedy in the face of grave threats to the United States at that time.

During that video, a strong President Kennedy didn’t talk about wimpy economic sanctions. Instead it put it to the USSR bluntly on national TV:

It shall be the policy of this nation to regard any nuclear missile launched by Cuba against any nation in the western hemisphere as an attack by the Soviet Union (USSR) on the United States, requiring a full retaliatory response upon the Soviet Union.

I was alive when President Kennedy took office. He impressed me then and still does. He was a strong President and Obama is not one. I remember watching his Inauguration Speech live in TV as shown in the video below:

Last night I watched C-SPAN: British House of Commons: Prime Minister’s Questions From 02/08/12 session, on TV. The program description is shown next:

Prime Minister David Cameron answered questions from members of his party and opposition members. He answered several questions on changes to the National Health Service. Opposition Leader Ed Miliband said medical professional groups believe the changes would jeopardize the future of the NHS. Prime Minister Cameron and other members also paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

A very contentious session. How I wish the Congress could question our President in the same fashion. If they could, Obama’s Teleprompter would get the toughest workout ever!

Obama, the man without resolve of his own character, nor courage of his own personal convictions…

The video below is a section of President Obama’s 2010 State of the Union Speech where he declared his beliefs that the Supreme Court had erred in its Citizens United ruling.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bR_9wmNnD4

After that speech he repeatedly continued to rail against the Court’s interpretation in his many campaign speeches. (Somebody must have kept sneaking that theme in on his teleprompter script).

In today’s news it is revealed the reversal of his person conviction:

“Obama has opposed the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision that stripped away some limits on campaign contributions. The new super PACs can’t coordinate directly with campaigns, but many have played a major role in the Republican primary contests, raising millions of dollars to use in negative advertising in early contests such as Iowa, South Carolina and Florida.

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said in an email to supporters Monday that the president’s campaign “can’t allow for two sets of rules” in which the Republican presidential nominee benefits from “unlimited spending and Democrats unilaterally disarm.” “

Now he takes on the old adage, “If you can’t beat ‘em—join ‘em!”

He owes the nation an apology and in particular the Supreme Court for his errant comments concerning Citizen United. But we all know he won’t make one, he always an “excuse”. And I do mean ALWAYS.

But at least Obama has come to recognize Free Speech prevails just as the Supreme Court ruled in Citizens United. Some us wonder why it took so long for him to understand that simple truth?

In any case, he’s revoked his embarrasing criticism of the Supreme Court by his own actions today in deciding to support Free Speech.

Part of my iOS Programming Series.

Today I completed the fourth iOS 5 and Xcode 4.2, iOS Apprentice Tutorial 4: StoreSearch, in the series by the Ray Wenderlich’s iOS Tutorial Team.

Disclaimer:

I’m not financially connected with Ray in any manner except that I pay him for his lessons.

Here’s part of the description of what that lesson teaches:

In this tutorial, you’ll take things to the next level by learning how to integrate your apps with web services! In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to upload and download data from web services with HTTP requests and how to handle JSON data.

To accomplish that work I learned a great deal more about the various frameworks in iOS 5 and how to put them together. The parts I enjoyed the most was learning how to use JSON Data via Web Service calls.

The copyrighted © Ray Wenderlich image below displays a few of the app’s views you will create with this commercial tutorial.

My next project for my software partnership Newbound, Inc., is to create an iOS 5 app to work with our extensive Newbound Software Library (aka NSL).
