Pairing

Had a nice time helping a couple pair a female winter white with one of my males last night.

7 months old pairing, I had several males along the same age and size standing by to let her choose. Mature pairings are always a challenge as each hamster would have developed fully in terms of sexual characteristics and personality. So typically I would be reluctant to sell a mature hamster without an actual pairing on the spot (the couple brought their girl for me to match). It is a service, but it is one that is necessary so no one brings home a hamster that at the end is incompatible.

I think it went well, and she found the man of her dreams...

The couple I met were nice too! So there's the added bonus. And the smiles on their faces showed they really loved their pets.

Sometimes that is more than enough, don't you think?

Puddings that found good homes!

Folks,I find a lot of joy when my hamsters find good owners / homes.

This photograph is from Christin, a very nice lady who bought two girls from me about two weeks ago. She sent me this photo of her pets Super and Wonder.

Check out the clean environment, the toys she gives to keep them happy and occupied, and the abundance of food.

The bedding in particular is of very high quality. Wood shavings imported directly from Germany by Christin herself. I tried it and it is good. If any of you out there wants high quality bedding, I can link you up with her.

Red-eyed pudding winter white

Hammy fans!

Yesterday, one of my baby puddings opened its eyes for the first time (3 weeks old) and it's got RED EYES! Fur's pudding orange, but eyes red. Imagine that!

Its fully pudding, from pudding parent lines. So not some sadistic campbell/winter white hybrid that some sick breeders try to do to infuse colour into the lines. Mine are from generations of genetic selection, no inbreeding, and pure cultivation to bring out dormant traits that I like.

I will put up pictures once they are old enough...

My pride and joy - SUPER White White-faced Robos

For those of you who know robos, there is something unusual about the above picture.

1. Robos do not normally sit in your open palm. Almost all of the time, you need to grip on to them firmly in case they run off...

2. White-faced Robos are normally not SO WHITE!!
This specimen represents how white my robos have been bred to - the brown tinge on their back has almost disappeared, and apart from their neck undercoat hairs which are still black, they are completely white back and underbelly.

Call me for orders now. Hurry before they are all gone!

Pet shop inquiries are most welcome. For connoisseurs and collectors who know their value, only serious premium offers will be entertained.

Fat and handsome though, this boy. Around 8 weeks and a handful. Seems like yesterday when he came to me no bigger than my thumb...

Requests to see pics of the pink-ear-ed Pearls.

I have taken these few pics with a mind to show the ears being pink. So front and back pics are shown. For those of you who have kept pearls, you know that this level of pink, with black eyes, is rare. Moreover, pure white! no black back stripe - so I managed to breed out a dominant feature of the Winter White Hamster.

You folks know how pearl winter whites have white body, with black stripe down the back, and black trimmed ears? This is the normal coloration.

I have now pink ear-ed pearls, no back stripe and completely white from birth! Yet black eyes (not albino in case any of you were wondering).

Extra special! I recall people asked for it a while back... I have successfully bred them. But their rarity also means a special premium on price for the fortunate owner...

Currently also have - normal robos, white-face robos, pearls, normal ww, puddings. So for all you collectors, come get them before I push them out to the pet shops and they are no more.

My pearl section has experienced an explosion, with just another batch born this morning!

This sweetie I am holding (yes I hand tame my hammies) is 4 weeks plus, and eats out of my hand!

I don't think your friendly neighborhood petshop does this (unless they got their stock from me hehe)

My pearls are the fat, fluffy and all white (read almost no black line down spine) quality.

Enuf said!

I have this thought...

Rhino should be a star in his own right (I have not watched the animation, but I think many shared my view)

So I said, why not make it a reality series...

with various hamsters, breeds, balls, obstacles, challenges, even situations.

How's that for a youtube series worth a cult following?

One of my breeding pudding pairs

This picture was taken yesterday.

Today, the female (the one on the left) gave birth to pups.

She was protective, and so I left them pretty much alone. Daddy was the perfect gentleman, was across on the other side of the nest, sitting there watching. He even brought food to the nest for the mom!

Of course at this stage, I will not take pictures for fear of spooking them...

but my other puddings are also exhibiting similar behavior

So I am looking forward to a bursting pudding nursery soon!

even the normal winter white has very distinct patterning. And my experience actually is the normals and sapphires are super intelligent and responsive! Or maybe it's just me...

The Urban Myth - All White Robos!

Been away for a while now. Apologies. But I wanted to make sure I had good stuff to blog.

This one hits the spot - a pure white robo (face, body, undercoat... the whole shinnanigans!)

For all you skeptics out there - yes, they exist.

Check this out. They are not just white-faced, they are white all over (and no, they are not ww pearls passing off as robos... haha). Reason for the colour, the emergence of a recessive gene that comes from generations of colour selection breeding.

Very cool. Very rare.
