This weekend, was much like any other weekend.
chores, playing, hugs, snuggles, fights, apologies, dinner together…
it was all in there, along with a few other special surprises by my loves:

Saturday, Chris took the kids out (giving me some down time) to Kitsch (a local shop that sells lovely handmades). They painted me little canvas magnets and picked me up some sweet gifts. On of the gifts (in the top left of the collage) cracks me up. Camille saw this little bowl and told Chris that it would be perfect for me to hold my rings and keys, the two things I’m always misplacing. You can tell there had been previous attempts in helping me keep hold of my keys by the little alarm button Chris has attached to the chain. They do perfectly fit, just perfect.

Some Sweet Mothering Posts that really caught my eye this weekend:

I wouldn’t be a mama without these two little cuties (looking forward to saying three!), grateful for the crazy times we have together!

Noah picked up Cami’s pocket yesterday, looked at it and said: “You make one for me mommy?” He can pretty much melt my heart. So per his request it will be red with a tiny bit of this tweed yarn mixed in. Today I began the book A Praying Life. I started it way back, but never finished. Chris really recommends it, and right now with Lainey and adoption timing, prayer and trust are all I can do. I’m also writing down what comes to mind so I can think through it all, and also look back. I work much better writing things out, looking at what I wrote and thinking through it (probably one of many reasons that I enjoy blogging).

… On this Monday, I got news. Not the kind you want to hear. The kind that makes you sad. Sad that it will most likely be almost a year before we have our third child.

Right now, I’m trying to stop the tears and think through the day. Reflect on my blessings. Not worry that Noah will be over four and Camille over six when little Lainey arrives. I am trying to stop planning my future and the timing of my kids, and trust that God has a plan for me. I’m trying to convince myself that I’m ok with Chris’ deployment, though I don’t feel that strong.

Its hard, but I need to just sit. Soak up the time I have with this guy and love these two special kids.

“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”

I completed Camille’s pocket necklace this weekend and was excited to fill it. I haven’t done much on making the kids wooden toys or animals during the cooler months, but now that its warm I’m hoping to get out in the garage and dust off the tools. Cami informed me about a month ago that her favorite animals are whales and monkeys. I think the monkeys are because her cousin loves monkeys and the whales, that’s her own thing. So I went ahead and cut this little guy to fit her pocket, painted and finished him following these steps.

Cami was so happy to have it done. This girl definitely brings sunshine into our everyday. She’s cute, talkative and just full of all kinds of anecdotes. A lover of reading and writing stories these days. She’s getting quite proficient in reading the beginner reader books and loves to curl under Chris’ arm at night to hear whatever chapter book they are reading together (currently Pippi Longstocking).
Next project: Noah’s pocket, he said he wanted red, so glad it isn’t blue!

Its a playroom for the kids and it holds a desk with a printer.

The closet almost appropriately for the moment is filled with blank, ready for print dandelion dream tees.

The crib still to be put together is out in the garage, and the walls are empty.

There are a few things that have been decided…

Like colors: green and purple.

and perhaps a border using these sweet prints.

Little Lainey will probably sleep in our room and with us for a while, but I definitely want to set up her room, where she can look at the mobile Camille and I made or where she can nap on a busy day. I’m trying to find some cute green and purple fabric for curtains (any thoughts would be appreciated). I’m actually quite excited to get her room put together, I guess you call that “nesting”.

also, just a side note…
The above alphabet cards are by Ida Pearle (which I got on sale), the Peapod print is by Mandy Gerth, and the Gecko Lovie is by Little Birds Vintage Designs.

Today I was at my favorite local coffee shop and found out that this month is National Bike Month. So to celebrate and encourage healthy bike riding everywhere I’ve discounted all the ready made bike tees in the shop to 25% off. Check them out!

P.S.
To edit these photos I used picmonkey for the first and ipiccy for the collage. I love them both. Picmonkey is very easy to navigate and has lot options. Ipiccy allows for transparent backgrounds and collages. Between the two, mourning the loss of picnik is over.
