Qualifications:

• 3+ years of architectural design experience, preferably in both commercial and residential design
• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, or equivalent
• Licensure, NCARB certification preferred but not required
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, as well as with a team
• Understanding of commercial & residential building codes and regulations
• Comfortable managing multiple tasks and projects
• Working knowledge of sustainable practices & materials
• Software:
  • Familiarity with both 2D CAD and 3D modeling software (Vectorworks and Sketchup preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience with Revit (preferred, but not required)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (preferred, but not required)

Key design features include a richly-detailed bar anchoring the center of the space and a dramatic archway separating the dining room into two intimate spaces. This spatial organization creates flexibility to host small, private events. A variety of seating options are provided within the dining room – including lounge furniture, custom booths, as well as table and chair arrangements. 

Exterior improvements help unify the three former storefronts into one cohesive facade that aligns with the restaurant’s distinct branding. Deep awnings define and enhance outdoor seating along the street. 

TKWA was hired to provide architectural and interior design services.

Additional project components include a new hotel lobby, cafe with wood burning pizza oven, banquet rooms, fitness room, movie theater, and rooftop bar with outdoor seating.

Hotel Verdant was chosen as the name for the hotel because of its focus on being a green hotel. The term Verdant is in reference both to the color green and to the concept of nature. Sustainable features include geothermal heating/cooling, green roofs and roof mounted solar panels.

TKWA collaborated with The Gettys Group, which provided interior design services for the hotel.

Peer cities across the country are meeting today’s challenges with innovative solutions to ensure that downtown remains a competitive place to live, work, learn, and play. Understanding the community’s racial disparities, a shifting work environment, global climate change, and their collective impact on our region will influence this plan.

The first phase of improvements designed by TKWA include two primary components, including, 1) new camper cabins and shower/kitchen building for summer camp use, and 2) new art studio workshop expansion and expansion of residential capacity for workshop guests at the Adamah Art Studio.

The building floor plan includes a central open-plan kitchen and living area with vaulted ceilings and fireplace. The bedroom wing includes four bedrooms, each with private bath, which accommodates golf foursomes (and spouse or partner). Each bedroom also includes views to the exterior.

In addition to the custom Sedge Village home, TKWA is architectural design for Sand Valley model homes and other resort amenities.

Additional facility improvements include new rescue animal holding areas with species appropriate colors, improved acoustic and visual separation, as well as access to daylight. A new front desk, with prominent glass enclosed cat display, is located near the building entrance, allowing staff to greet visitors and answer questions. A large new multi-purpose room is located adjacent to a new classroom, which allows for varied configurations to accommodate both large and small groups.

From the exterior the one-story building lacked visibility from the nearby busy highway. Today, large cat and dog statues – commissioned exclusively for the building – sit atop the roof, inviting visitors to stop in and meet their new best friend.

Vendor stalls are carefully arranged to create plaza-like communal gathering places. Each plaza is connected to the next — the resultant environment encourages exploration and discovery.

The experiential layout is further enhanced by play elements, including an elevated shuffle board platform, video-gaming wall, bag-toss, virtual golf room, and children’s play areas. Because the play is intentionally embedded and not isolated, families have flocked to the market hall to spend time.

The architectural expression celebrates the honesty of materials, using a palette of steel and concrete that serves as a backdrop to allow vendors to create unique and individual identities  within their respective stalls.

The Market Hall is envisioned to be a living place, one that evolves and changes over time. In Summer, 2023 additions under construction include a new indoor beer hall/event space and improved pedestrian connections.

a) reinforce floor joists – where previous plumbing work had compromised structural integrity
b) stabilize roof rafters
c) restore dining room casement windows
d) repair to built-in living room shelving
e) strip and reinstall original brass hardware
f) preserve interior wood stain finishes 

TKWA coordinated with the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy to provide existing condition assessment of the property and to ensure appropriateness of recommended repairs.
