What are the most common mistakes newbie affiliate marketers do when they have signed up for an affiliate program? After all, they are provided with training and support, pre-made banners, great products, free referral websites and a fantastic compensation plan.Everything is in place to make millions of dollars online.

Here is 5 common mistakes made by many newbie affiliate marketers.

1.Expecting instant results
Expecting instant results with very little effort is a very common mistake.In the offline world, would people find their way to your store if you did not advertise? No. People are not going to find your internet store either without advertising.Your website is just 1 out of billions of others and the competition on the internet is getting worse for every day.

2.Believing all the hype
You signed up with an affiliate program to make money because they said it is possible to make $100,000 dollars per year.It is not a guarantee you make that much, it is just a projection.Instead of believing the hype, set a long term goal for your self that you will make $100,000 dollars.It will take time, but if you believe in yourself and do what it takes then everything is possible.Just don´t think it will happen over night.

3.No specific goals and plans
If you have no specific goals or a plan, how are you going to measure your success? You will need a realistic long term goal like “I will make $100,000 from my affiliate program by December 2013″ and a realistic short term goal like “I will earn $200 per month by June 2010″.Then you need to think about how you are going to achieve your goals, specific steps and clear daily marketing goals.

4.Not advertising your affiliate link
If you are not advertising your affiliate link you are not going to get any sales.The best way to advertise is to make yourself different than everyone else, because everyone will get the same affiliate site.You will be different by having your own blog that you use as your marketing tool.

5.Giving up
Many newbie affiliate marketers get discouraged and quit too soon.Promoting an affiliate program for 2 months is not enough to get any results.Your sponsor is there to help you, send him/her an email and ask for help and advice.If you quit, you will fail.

6.Bonus tip
Joining 10 affiliate programs at once is not going to earn you 10 times the income.By joining only 1 good affiliate program and working on it, you will see success over time.If you join 10 programs you will not have time to focus on all of them and you increase your chances of failing.

3.“Promoting other peoples niche products as an affiliate is the best way to make money.”
No, this is not true.Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money online, but when it comes to niche marketing you must have your own product that you promote with your own squeeze page and collect names and email addresses.If you are promoting someone else´s product, it does not make you an expert in your field.
