An ex-physician turned artist will give an illustrated lecture about how we went from these huge, hairy apes to straight walking, bald homosapiens. He says that "we took a dip in the pool of evolution, paddled about a bit, and by the time we moved to a drier neighborhood we were walking tall, straight and naked." He promises an un-scientific talk on the world of science, somehow, so bring your fundie friends and enjoy this uncontroversial discussion.

Remember this nice little indie flick from 2005? Yeah, this is where Jesse Eisenberg started kind of getting famous. I really liked this movie mostly because of the very Brooklyn feel it gave that only people from Brooklyn would know about, and also because it was pretty good. This film will be screened along with Shallow Grave, directed by another Oscar nominee, Danny Boyle. If you catch this post before Wednesday you should also know that Miss Black Swan's intense and thrilling movie that she did when she was like 9 years old aka The Professional will be screening Wednesday night at 7:30pm. Named after the classic sci-flick of the 90s, this exhibit features "five new large scale sculptural commissions by New York-based artists. It frames each artist's work in relation to the ephemeral nature of memory; each work is at times strange, mult-layered, futuristic and transformative." Did you get that? In case you're wondering about what the connection is, the movie is about a man finding out that his memories are actually implanted and likewise this exhibit is a "compedium of the artists' memories, experiences, and their artistic predecessors." Hahaha! Bit of a far reach but sure. Why not? Those glass boxes filled with things look interesting enough to check out in person.
