迷你测压器

早上到Proton Service Centre 做5千公里service送了这个玩意儿。

只要把这个迷你测压器的嘴按进轮胎的风嘴就可以知道轮胎的气压值（PSI）

还没按进风嘴时，白色那段PSI值是缩在里面的。一按进风嘴，气压就会推出其那段白色PSI值，就可以知道轮胎的气压值了。当然这么简陋的仪器是测量的气压不一定一百巴仙准确啦，做个参考到还可以。

这次service的赠品虽然还是cheap但是起码比上次的香精片实用。

Clash of the Titans

继上一部《Avatar》之后，已经三个月没看戏了。凑巧今天公司便宜戏票看的又是Sam Worthington主演的《Clash of the Titans》。

这是一部讲述希腊神话英雄Perseus如何战胜妖魔的故事。上网找找关于Perseus的故事，你就懂这部戏跟原本的故事有些出入，但是无所谓。问题是改过的剧情好像比原版的故事逊色，而且很多情节都不知所谓。我一向看戏没什么想太多，但是还是对这部戏的情节和连接有点纳闷。

1. 机械猫头鹰的出现是为了什么。
2.Hades为什么拿公主开刀，因为皇后太狂妄称赞女儿的姿色？还是因为自己想打败Zeus的阴谋而随便找个理由召唤Kraken？如果公主真的牺牲自己，Hades真的会收手？
3.市井之徒每天怂恿百姓牺牲公主，皇帝为什么不把他干掉算了？
4. 在森林中那几只飞马的出现代表什么，想让Perseus知道他是半仙？为什么只有黑色的那只对他情有独钟，那为什么不干脆让他骑到目的地好了？
5. Perseus从一开始就不接收Zeus的恩惠，可是为什么接受了那枚金币？
6. Io为什么突然走进船舱莫名其妙教Perseus如何对付Medusa然后突然有暧昧戏份。好像有点无谓。
7. 打完Medusa和Acrisius国王后，黑色飞马从何处飞来？

这部戏的结尾也很草率，老大Kraken刚从水里爬出来就被变成石头，Hades被Perseus一刀打回冥界。反而是小喽罗飞怪花了Perseus不少时间去追。

算是看过SamWorthington三部戏里比较弱的一部，看来Sam Worthington专演这种半半的角色，半机械人，半纳美人，这次是半仙。
除了有CG可以看，《Clash of the Titans》基本上不算好看，只是一部看了就忘记的戏，给个6/10吧。

Blogger Template Designer

Blogger 本身一向来都没有很多theme可以选择，要加排column也需要动到HTML。最近Blogger推出了Blogger Template Designer可以说是方便了众多用户。Blogger Template Designer 主要提供了15种templates，然后用户可以再选要用什么颜色系列，背景图，layout等等，用户可以自由发挥创意。

其实Blogger Template Designer还没正式在blogger推出，但是只要到Blogger是实验区 http://draft.blogger.com，就可以用到这项新的功能了。

LOMO 效果

这几年lomo照风行。如果你不想买架lomo相机又想有lomo 效果的照片，最简单就是用软体改普通数码相机拍的照片。

如果你有Photoshop可以到http://www.psactionscripts.com/2009/08/07/vintage-lomo-effect-action或按这里下载Vintage Lomo Effect Action。然后如下图load 进PS里。

接着开出你的照片，然后按刚刚load进的Vintage Lomo acton，再按底下类似Play的按键就行了。

Avatar 《阿凡达》

应朋友之邀去看戏，现在上映的有《十月围城》，《刺陵》，《风云2》等片，当然我们选择了最大制作的《阿凡达》。这部戏是James Cameron执导的3D电影，影片大概有六七十巴仙是CG，据说耗资五亿美金打造。五亿美金大概是马币十七亿，简直是天文数字！那么烧了这么多钱拍一部戏到底成效如何？果然没有令我失望，应该说是我在戏院看戏以来，《阿凡达》是最具震撼性了。我觉得近年来只有《魔戒三部曲》能够与之抗衡，但是可惜当年我不是在戏院看《魔戒》。如果你觉得《Transformer》或者《2012》的CG很架势，那么我可以告诉你《阿凡达》的CG绝对比这些电影强几倍！

《阿凡达》的故事其实蛮简单的，有点类似《Pocahontas》（风中奇缘）的桥段但是是发生在未来。人类为了一种非常珍贵的矿物而进驻潘多拉星球，但是潘多拉星球的空气并不适合人类生活。而且当地住着身高三公尺高的纳米族。为了能理解潘多拉星球，科学家制造出了人类跟纳米DNA结合的纳米克隆，人类能够用仪器把意识转移到这个克隆身上。男主角（一个双腿瘫痪的兵士）“控制”的纳米人“因缘际会”（又是那种the one的桥段）得到纳米人的信任而且爱上部落公主。但是人类的采矿公司为了得到矿物，要把纳米人赶出他们家乡。男主角于是陷入两难的局面，一方面是爱人的种族，一方面是为了资源不择手段的同胞，而且他需要人类的仪器才能化身为纳米人。一旦与人类为敌，他就只能困在残废的身体里，那么就会失去那个他越来越喜欢的纳米公主。。。

《阿凡达》吸引的地方就是导演用CG创造出潘多拉星球的一切动物植物，观众会觉得潘多拉星球美的无法用言语形容，逼真程度让观众根本看不出这些场景都是电脑弄出来的。还有最后的一场战役，简直是精彩绝伦。据说导演还特地邀请大学语言专家创造出纳米语，就像《魔戒》里也有精灵语。基本上《阿凡达》已经没什么好挑剔了，有好的剧情，超强的CG，有英雄主义，人道主义，环保主义。值得一提的是当年James Cameron经典之作《Alien》女主角也在这部片轧上一角。《阿凡达》无疑是近几年来最好的其中一部电影，不懂还会不会拍续集，但是我觉得并无此需要，结局可以说相当完美了。

跟家喻户晓的《Transformer》比起来，《阿凡达》似乎在小市镇比较没那么轰动，观众还不到半场，也有可能是因为早上场的关系，或者是大家还不识货。

两个小时半的《阿凡达》绝对值回票价。我给《阿凡达》9.5/10，即使再看一次依然会值得。

魔术方块

最近好像又开始流行玩魔术方块，为了表演给侄儿看我能够复原魔方，我特地去买一粒魔方来研究。不要以为魔方是小孩子的玩意儿，玩起来可一点也不容易。转了几下实在没办法复原，读了说明书也不明白，还是去youtube找教学吧。其实有蛮多人post了教程在youtube了。看了几个版本，最后还是觉得这个比较简单易懂 http://www.youtube.com/user/RobH0629#p/c/6CD08F940E40DCDB/0/_yU-EwlRRvc

一共大概有七个步骤，从头看到尾大概就可以学会怎么复原了，需要记得方程式也不算很多，只是最后两三个的方程式比较长点，多玩几次就会记得了。

我目前的成绩大概是三分钟多才能复原一个转乱的魔方，由于是初学者有时会突然忘了方程式或转错一个方向，那就会花更多时间了。嘻嘻文，有空去challenge你一下，嘿嘿。

目前的世界纪录大概是少过十秒吧。

电影的真实性

今天在星洲日报头版看到一位加拿大航太专家梁斐生博士驳斥《2012》里的预言是胡言。本人还没看过这部电影，但是大概也懂内容讲的是什么，不外是一部预言世界末日的灾难片。

我认为宗教界人士往往想太多，常常觉得某些电影内容会影响他们的宗教地位。如今的电影内容往往是天方夜谭，没什么逻辑性可言，因为只有这样才能吸引到更多的观众。由于动画科技的迅速发展，近几年的电影已经可以制作出非常逼真的效果，因此可以看到很多的漫画改编电影，灾难片等等。

我们看电影通常只是为了这些视觉效果和故事情节，但是并不会对电影内容的逻辑性或真实性有太多的研究。难道你会相信美国胡佛水坝地下真的有威震天，美国真的有外星人难民营，还是你相信几万粒气球可以把你的房子飞到天空？

观众明白这些只是电影桥段，并不是真实的事情，除非那部电影是历史片。即使是当年最具争议性的电影《达文西密码》也是小说家的桥段，何必那么认真去看待。说到《达文西密码》，摆明了是一部小说故事纯属虚构，即使是我这个不是非常虔诚的基督徒看了都置之一笑，我非常纳闷为什么宗教人士总是在澄清电影内容的不真实性，难道是为了说服本身对宗教的怀疑，还是因为这部电影侮辱到他们的宗教。

太认真的看一部电影只是在浪费自己的时间，因为你非但不能享受看电影的乐趣，还会影响自己的心情，何必呢？

如果你看了《2012》后会觉得2012年真的会世界末日，那么是你自己愚蠢无知！我想梁斐生博士或许认为有许多愚蠢的人需要他的提醒才不会被这部电影蒙骗，对吧？

本人绝对没有对梁斐生博士或基督教有不敬的意思，只是认为宗教人士对电影内容太过敏感。只要对本身的宗教有足够的认识和信任，我相信基督徒（或其他宗教教徒）是不会被区区一部虚构的电影所影响。

I Got Google Wave Invitation!

I just received Google Wave Invitation from Google!

As you can see from screenshot below, Google Wave is still at its ~~very early~~ Preview stage.

I can see that Google Wave should be very powerful tools for multi users collaboration. Without friends, you probably can’t do lot with Wave.

Maybe this is why Google encourage users to invite more people, same as what they did to Gmail last time.

So far, I’d only tested to invite my another Gmail account and yet to receive the activation link. I still left 19 invitation available, will send the invitation to people in my contact list later on :)

修车冷气

老车的冷气最近不是很行了，只要车不动一下冷气就不会冷。决定今天去把它settle掉。

检查后水柜没坏，需要换Compressor （俗称冷气pump），换compressor竟然还要换一个比较长的condensor，虽然没坏，老板说没换的话可能会有手尾。酱讲意思就是如果不换以后有问题自己负责，怎么办？还是换咯。

主要换的四样零件。上图是旧的。新的condensor是什么PACO牌泰国制造，比旧的condesor阔差不多一倍，是不是比较阔，冷气循环比较好？我不懂。

新的compressor，讲是DENSO的，但是找不到DENSO mark 头，只看到AmAire，老板讲AmAire改的喔，东西是DENSO的。反正他讲什么是什么，我是什么都不懂，希望不要砍我菜头。

做好后账单开出来吓死人，Compressor + Condensor + filter = RM800+，哦雪特！老板大概只扣一点意思意思。

垃圾桶

刚刚市议会在我家一带住宅区分发MGB垃圾桶。根据报章报导，早在2002年开始市议会就开始首次分发MGB垃圾桶运动，过了七年才轮到我这里。这种垃圾桶又深又大，普通家庭其实不会用到容量酱大的垃圾桶，况且每隔一/两天垃圾车就会来收垃圾。

唯一的好处就是可以防止猫狗去挖垃圾，道路的清洁可能可以有些许改善。

野猫野狗以后可能没这么多食物吃了。怎么办呢，真为广大的野猫野狗群们担忧啊。。。（注：我是真的的有点担心它们）

Installing XP on SATA Hard Drive without Floppy

Nowadays most most laptop and PC does not come with Floppy Disk Drive. During installation of Windows XP, there is chance that we encounter problem of Windows XP installer not recognized our SATA driver hence fail to install XP.

I’d met this problem few days ago while I want to reformat PC for my relative. After googling, I’d found someone has written a very clear guide on how to overcome this problem.

Basically the idea is to embed the SATA driver into the XP installation and reburn it so that we won’t need to load SATA driver using FDD during installation.

Conficker

Installation of Windows XP was done, everything was fine till I connect to Internet.

Nearly every 10 or 20 minutes, sometimes even shorter, Windows XP theme will suddenly changed to XP Classic theme then changed back, and the network is down. Sometimes pop up “Generic Host Error”. In Event Viewer, there will be “Faulting application, version 0.0.0.0….” error.

Even reformat and reinstall PC won’t guarantee you get rid of this problem, me myself has reformatted Windows XP for 2 times to find out that this problem was actually caused by Conficker. At the beginning I didn’t think that this problem is caused by virus/worm as it is a fresh Windows installation till my Avira antivirus warned that my PC been infected by Conficker. I thought since it is detected and deleted by Avira, problem should be resolved, but it’s not that easy, Conficker just too powerful.

After googling, I’d found and followed advise from Kaspersky, only then my problem is resolved.

Basically we need to:

apply MS Security Update for Windows XP (KB958644), this step is extremely important. For those who used pirated XP, you can apply this patch with no worry as well.
scan you PC with Kaspersky KK.exe tool.
update antivirus definition, and scan your pc.

ASUS M4A78 Pro won’t boot issue

PC assembly is done, now it’s time to plug in the power and turn it on.

Nothing showed up, no even a beep sound! And the CPU fan speed seems slower than normal.

Normally the 1st step for troubleshooting hardware problem is unplug RAM and all the power cable for SATA, PATA, FDD and try again. It still shows nothing and no beeping sound, damn! Without RAM, the mobo should have beeping sound, this is abnormal.

Is this motherboard or CPU die, this is 1st thing strike my mind.

The next step I took is to clear CMOS, use the clear CMOS jumper or take out the battery for few second, remember to turn off the power 1st.

Ok, this time it boot into BIOS, then I tried to shut down power and reboot, same problem happen, nothing shows up. Clear CMOS and on, shows again, hmm…. what kind problem is this?

Suddenly I remember I read through some review of this mobo two days ago at newegg site and some people were mentioning similar problem. The problem might be caused by BIOS version problem as it does not recognized AM3 CPU well.

I thought my problem was probably caused by the BIOS version problem. The method I used was to install the Windows 1st, then install ASUS update utility and flash the BIOS. During installation, PC will restart and same problem may happen again, so just clear the CMOS and get into the windows.

After I check the BIOS version, I found that it is Version 0702 dated 2009/03/17. I will need to upgrade to Version 0902 dated 2009/04/10 to get rid of the clear CMOS problem. You can download M4A78 Pro BIOS here, http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M4A78%20PRO. Download it, upzip and flash it using the utility then everything will be running fine.

Thus, for people who bought this mobo and having the same problem, don’t get panic and direct bring for RMA, flash your BIOS to at least Version 0902 first.

Beside using the ASUS update utility in windows, you may flash it in BIOS as well, simply boot up PC and enter BIOS by pressing DEL button, there is a ASUS EZY Flash tool to update BIOS, you may refer here, http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments.aspx?root=198&SLanguage=en-us, but you will need to put the BIOS rom file in Floppy.

Some people say that BIOS rom file can be put in Flash Drive but I never try that, not sure will it be detected by ASUS EZY Flash Tool.

Also remember to unzip the BIOS downloaded file, it should be in .ROM extension, else it may not be recognized.

Advice for ASUS, if there is a note or any mention in manual regarding this issue, then it would saved me at least half an hour of head scratching!

For new release of this mobo, please flash it to latest BIOS version.

Gigabyte GZ-X8 chassis

Gigabyte is a well-known brand for motherboard, graphic cards etc. With such a good reputation in board and card making, their product should be fine, right? Now, Try to closer to the front panel of the GZ-X8 chassis, do you find anything missing? hmm…. seems like ok what, except no reset button, that’s shouldn't be a big problem.

Do you realize there is no HDD LED for this chassis?! What a stupid chassis design!! I didn’t realize this till I wanna plug in the front panel wire into the mobo.

I don’t understand how Gigabyte design this chassis, or all of their GZ-X series chassis do not have HDD LED.

It’s just a small tiny LED, but it’s damn important for us, without the LED how do we know whether the HDD is functioning or not?

So, what to do? I get the HDD LED including wire from my 1st PC, which was treated as rubbish put under my table. Fortunately I never throw it away!

But then, there is no hole to accommodate the HDD LED, it can only be put outside the chassis! Then how can I close the chassis side cover? Furthermore it looked damn ugly with a wire outside the chassis!

The second day I bring this chassis to a nearby electrical shop and ask taoke for help. He is kind enough to help me drill a hole at the chassis front panel and change a round shape red LED for me, you can see the old LED is rectangle size and it won’t fit the hole nicely.

Here is the result, looked OK what, hehe. Thanks to the taoke for helping out.

Anyway, the chassis itself is quite solid feel and come with screwless design.

Advise for everyone, when you wanna buy PC chassis, please make sure that it has HDD LED, else you will have to drill a hole yourself!

PC Specs

I decided to setup a new PC since my current PC is already 5 yrs and 3 mths old, which was bought during college time.

My current PC had served me very well through these yrs and so far I’m still quite satisfy with its stabilities. However its CPU resource is insufficient when I try to run various programs at the same time.

Main component for my current PC are ABIT KV8 MAX3, AMD 64 3000+ Socket 754, DDR400 1G Memory and Powercolor ATI Radeon 9600Pro VGA card. It is nearly impossible to upgrade anymore since all these component are either phased out or very expensive now.

For new PC, AMD system is still my choice since it is always been a value choice for “cheap people” like me. With similar range of product, AMD always cost cheaper than Intel. For basic setup and cost saving, I will use on board video 1st, temporary.

New PC Full Specs would be:

AMD Phenom II Quad-Core 945 (3.0GHz / 8 MB / 125W)
ASUS M4A78- Pro Motherboard (on board ATI Radeon 3200 video chipset)
Kingston DDR2 800 2G RAM
Seagate 500GB Hardisk
Gigabytes GZ-X8 chassis (come with 300W PSU which I shall use it for my current PC)
ENERMAX Tomahawk ETK405AST 405W PSU (from my current PC, shall be swapped to new PC)

CPU AM3 X4 Deneb core

Stock HSF design is nice with copper heat pipe.

ASUS M4A78-Pro mobo and its content, nothing special.

The mobo is in ATX form with artistic feel design northbridge heatsink

Seagate hardisk and Kingston RAM

Gigabytes GX-X8 casing come with 300W PSU

With these specs, I should be able to setup a decent PC for normal usage. However, the installation of the PC is not that “soon” (smooth) at all!!

I will post what are the problem that I encountered in next post. Please stay tuned.

Up - 天外奇迹

终于看了深受好评的《Up》，果然没让我失望。

一个孤独老头为了实现死去老婆的梦想，用汽球把房子升空飞到南美洲的“天堂瀑布”。途中老头与胖小弟和一些动物的荒野丛林冒险之旅也非常精彩，故事情节相当特别。开场之前的一段“乌云”短片也蛮温馨，算是很好的开胃菜。

这部好戏我给8/10。

值得一提的是整间戏院只有我跟友人两个人看，简直就是包场！可能这部戏就要下映了，已经没什么人看。

机器侠 – Kungfu Cyborg

没带太大的期望看这部《机器侠》，这部戏也果然没让我惊喜。

《机器侠》可以说是爱情科幻动作喜剧，但却是悲剧收场，间中又不时搞些不是很好笑的无厘头效果。机器人特效当然不能跟Transformer或 Iron Man比。里面的机器人CG只能像是几年前电脑游戏里的3D程度。

机器人对打场面多少有抄Transformer的桥段，变车、电单车还有合体铁金刚竟然是僵尸造型，晕。。。导演硬要把中国的元素加入机器人，结果变得有点不伦不类，有心无力的感觉。有些细节也不是很明白，比如为什么曾志伟总是摆着一副苦瓜脸。整部戏我觉得最好笑的竟然是小配角罗家英出场时唱起当年红极一时的大话西游版OnlyYou。

电影特效不好，剧情没什么吸引人，不是很好笑，也不是很滥情，可以说是一部没什么看头的戏，我给4.5/10。

PS:到现在我还不懂干嘛有颗大树在海报里。

肯德基虾条- KFC Shrimp Stix

试了肯德基最近刚推出的Shrimp Stix，味道还好但是虾条的size还真的是够小，大概跟我的拇指差不多。不是我想嫌，大家自己看看以下的照片。

很吸引人的poster，虾条比鸡腿还大，里面的虾好像还很新鲜。

好啦，你可以说是角度或是远近的问题，因为那杯红色的玫瑰汁（其实味道就像杂货店买的syrup泡出来的一样）的size也不可能比鸡腿小嘛。你也可以说因为虾条是主角，所以要特别放大。反正是可以解释的，对吧。

结论是去KFC还是安安分分吃炸鸡比较实在。

看了这个图表才知道Coca-Cola的百多年来logo从来没换过。

可能我少喝汽水，竟然不懂Pepsi的logo已经变成了目前这种，我影像中的Pepsi logo还停留在2005版。

2nd blog from hotel

This is second time I blog in Regent Hotel, Bintulu since last year's 1st blog from hotel.
The wifi signal here is still only one or two slots, but the speed and stability is acceptable, I can even download Firefox 3.5 within minutes.
I'm lazy to write now, better post some photos shot with my lausy hp.

1st time ever travel with Fokker 50, it just like a longer bus with turbine.

Place where I go for this job trip.

The hotel's room is err.... quite fine la.
