Sarah Jessica Parker in Dôen at the Tribeca Film Festival BANG MY BOX: THE ROBIN BYRD STORY Premiere

Sarah Jessica Parker came out to the Tribeca Film Festival for the premiere of the documentary she produced, Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story, about the New York cable access legend. She did not engage in any theme-dressing for the occasion.

But crocheted string bikinis aren’t really her style. Lacey pseudo-pajamas? That’s totally SJP. Inexplicably, this almost works. We don’t like the proportions on that center lace panel and we don’t think a black bra or black shoes were the right way to go here. We’re also getting really tired of the current trend to just let cords and sashes hang instead of tying them. To be fair, we wouldn’t actually love it if there was a bow at the top but at least it wouldn’t feel like she forgot to do herself up.

The youths have come to the Tribeca Film Festival and we’re gonna be the bitter olds who relish in judging them. The cast of Every Year After wisely took this moment and ran with it, from a style perspective and we’re proud of them.

We’d like to say that the problems here are the cheap textile and the unflattering color, but we’re afraid the design’s pretty awful.

Well done. It’s beautifully fitted and the color looks great on her. For once, we’re going to refrain from suggesting more jewelry. We don’t think the look needs it.

Can’t get mad at any of this — not even the mesh shirt. It’s refreshing to see people on the red carpet dressed for the season. Love the shoes.

Office Romance star Betty Gilpin stopped by Watch What Happens Live and we’re happy to report that she wore something that looks like the perfect Betty Gilpin outfit.

We think she’s best served by somewhat simple looks that have a little attitude and edge to them, but don’t come off like a poser who’s trying too hard. Cool Girl outfits, because she’s pretty much the coolest girl named Betty there ever was. We have no notes. The crop top seems pretty easy for her to handle and we like that the pants are full and lend the look a richness. We don’t even mind the white pumps, since a black pair would have been pretty boring.

Hugh Jackman Promotes THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD on GOOD MORNING AMERICA

It seems like just yesterday we were featuring Hugh Jackman walking into a daytime talk show while sporting a cute summer look. With The Sheep Detectives in his rearview mirror, this very busy man is now out promoting The Death of Robin Hood. He stopped by The View to chat about it.

And this all appears to be well in order. We suppose we could get super-nitpicky and suggest a wider cut of pants or perhaps not matching one’s socks exactly to one’s shirt, but as we said, that would be super-nitpicky. It’s a perfectly fine, well-coordinated and styled look. We have to give him credit, because he’s at that age where longtime actors start dressing like they’re in a biker gang or like none of this stuff matters to him, which always comes off like a mid-life crisis. It’s actually refreshing to see a male star who’s closing in on sixty actually adopt a more mature but no less stylish approach.

After a big floppy hat morning, Queen Max had herself a tiara kind of night and then got up the next day and had a headband sort of day. She’s the Queen of Putting Things On Her Head — for this week, at least. The Queen and King Willem-Alexander hosted German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam for a state dinner. We are pleased to report, she really nailed this one:

IN JANTAMINIAU AT THE STATE BANQUET FOR GERMAN PRESIDENT

That gown, which is the best thing we’ve ever seen her wear, was custom made by Jan Taminiau and was inspired by the walls of a room in Huis Ten Boch Palace in The Hague. We think that somewhat drab backing color may be our favorite part of the design, because it lends the beading pattern a sense of chic restraint. If this had been some bold, bright color — or even black — we don’t think we’d like it as much. We don’t think any of the jewels coordinate with it all that well, but that’s the problem with these massive royal parures. They simply can’t be modernized. We can forgive the tiara and earrings for clashing, but a stomacher brooch just looks dumb without a stomacher. Next, she got girly on a visit to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, as one does:

And we’ve gotta say, we are not at all pleased with the sudden trendiness of church dresses. This doesn’t even look like her style. The print is insipid and those scalloped edges look tacky. We think headbands are a decent solution for a queen who suffers from flyaway hair, but this one is way too preciously juvenile.

Red Carpet Rundown: TOY STORY 5 Los Angeles Premiere

Of course we gave Taylor Swift her own spotlight post, for reasons having to do with her being Taylor Swift, but it’s time to round up everyone else at the Toy Story 5 premiere and tell then what we think of their occasionally goofy outfits.

Conan O’Brien

These pieces are well-chosen and he clearly put some work into his look. Our only advice is that a fuller cut of jeans would be to his benefit.

Craig Robinson

Okay, man.

Greta Lee in Dior

The shape of this is so weird.

Harry Shum Jr.

We can tell the pieces are pretty nice, but the overall effect is giving groundskeeper.

Jay Hernandez

Acceptable.

Joan Cusack

It not bad. It’s a little quirky and a little mature, but she is both of those things. We think a lighter shoe would’ve been a good idea.

Jordan Chiles

It’s a decent frock, but the styling is missing something. We think a pair of silver sandals would’ve been a better choice and we might have recommended a showier pair of earrings.

Kristen Schaal

The dress is very cute and obviously on theme, but those are quite honestly the most horrifying tights we’ve ever seen.

Krys Marshall

Not a thing wrong with any of that. What a great dress.

Matty Matheson

We wish he’d buttoned the jacket, if only to show off how well-fitted the suit is. It’s really nice.

Melissa Villaseñor

A look that’s so full of personality we almost feel silly making this recommendation, but we think white or red shoes would have been more fun. Her hair is amazing.

Mykal-Michelle Harris

Love the frames and the earrings. The suit’s interesting, but we can’t with those pockets. Also, it needs a hemming.

Shelby Rabara

A super-cute dress and a super-cute (and on point) pair of boots that don’t really go with it.

Tim Allen

Professionally understated, let’s call it.

Tom Hanks

He’s clearly in his vest area and we want to encourage that, but he also looks a little like a bartender circa 2008.

Tony Hale

It’s a pretty sweet look, right down to the shoes, which are really fun.

Elle Fanning in Proenza Schouler at SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations Presents MARGO’S GOT MONEY TROUBLES

Elle Fanning came to the SAG-AFTRA-hosted conversation about her series Margo’s Got Money Troubles in a look that says “I’m professional as hell and I’m gunning for that Emmy.” Unfortunately, it also has a second, underlying message.

“I don’t know how to tone things down without dressing like an 80-year-old.” A common problem among the ingenue set! We keep trying to find a pony in this mess, but we just can’t do it. That skirt is awful. Those hideous pumps are certainly not helping the look. We feel like any sort of suggestion about what to do with the perfectly acceptable jacket (Pair it with jeans/a pencil skirt/a mini!) tends to sound pretty stale. In truth, this ensemble can’t be saved. Ditch it and start over. Also (once again): IT’S JUNE.
