Another Winged Pig Spotted

I'm not sure why I have this fascination with pigs with wings but oh well. Found this little guy while in Boulder today near the Chautauqua hiking trails. You can't quite see the sun glasses just out of the picture to the left. Apparently this flying pig has a purpose in life. He (she?) keeps track of the owners (or visitors) sun glasses coming and going to their home. Smart pig. Wish I had thought of that.

Someday I'll have a flying pig.

This music video was shot for Sour's 'Hibi no Neiro' (Tone of everyday) from their first mini album 'Water Flavor EP'. The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam.

Lily Parish - Senior Project for Austin Waldorf School

I had hoped to post this on Facebook but it's two minutes too long. Total length is 22 minutes. It's worth watching every minute to see Lily step onto the stage with such grace to present a short documentary she had been working on since the summer. Ann McMaster took Lily with her to South Africa in the summer of 2009 so Lily could research and craft a senior project around the theme of 'A Hero's Journey' as it is played out in the lives of the three women she interviews in South Africa. Lily did a very large portion of the story creation and editing work over the fall semester. All I did was help with the polish in Final Cut Pro to reduce the frustration factor of having to learn FCP editing while focusing on finishing her senior year at the Austin Waldorf school. FCP can be nerve racking to try to learn quickly.

Just for a little fun I added an intro that I took with a cool little Kodak HD camera. Glad I just grabbed and shot with it as it worked perfectly to show how Lily was getting ready and dealing with the stress of stepping out on stage after waiting so long for this moment (12 years actually).

New TomParish.com Site - it's getting there

Finally getting the new look in place for my TomParish.com site. Next step is rewrite the Media, About and Services pages. What is there is true but my focus is really about social media content strategies - blogs, activity streams, audio and video podcasting shows and enterprise mobility strategies - for technology companies. I want something more edgy and thought provoking and have the 'look' stand out more. Many thanks to all that have been so helpful in this process of creating a new look. I'm excited to pull together 5 years of experience in building these platforms and producing shows that have been in existence for 5 years still producing prodigious amounts of downloads each month. (EnterpriseLeadership.org and BMC Podcast Show)

Ok so this isn't exactly the most interesting thing to post here. Tomorrow I have some thoughts on a couple of new 'chill' albums I've found that is perfect for a Friday evening of relaxing with friend(s). Do we stil call them albums if we buy them off iTunes. I guess. You buy singles like we used to buy 45 RPM records. Well actually you got two for same price.

Washabi Gumballs. Brings back fond memories.

Lily learning how to speak with a Russian dialect with the wife of the Bed and Breakfast we stayed at. (nice people)

The Ken Burns center for Photography Film and Video Studies at Hampshire. - wow.

A memorable trip for me and now Lily must decide from so many offers where to attend.

So here I go

This blog has changed. I image you guessed that from title. All the more formally produced thoughts that turn into some form of media now reside at www.TomParish.com. Hope you like the new site.

Instead this is simply a place for me to put ideas that come to mind. I might cycle back and turn them into content later or not. You might learn more about me or not. We'll see. I will discuss a wider range of thoughts that come to mind on personal and professional experiences. We'll see what pops up and what life brings me along the way.

I'm also using this as a kind of experiment on where and how to post content on the Internet. A kind of content strategy experiment for small business owner. For example I have a Twitter feed where I tend to put ideas and links that are mostly business related. You'll see a lot about mobile computing there enterprise mobility, iPad news and a steady stream of social media and social networking related news and commentary and well video editing and podcasting tips. My usual mix.

Facebook yep it's still there but I'm trying to stop all the business stuff there and simply keep that personal and with close friends. Well there is a Facebook Fan page for Tom Parish Inc. and with the recent addition of all the new stats they provide I'm curious about how to make that work better for me. I know what needs to happen but it's more a matter of time right now.

So now I'm into segementing what I write by putting content on different platforms for different audiences. I'm not sure exactly how this will pan out. What I do know is I'm interested in having a place to just jot down notes and ideas and put them out for others to see if interested. Often unedited and at time incomplete. When it makes sense I'll include more personal matters and opinions too. The sort of nuggets I would not normally cover on Twitter, Facebook or my TomParish.com blog. Like my impression of a good bottle of Pinot Noir I found recently with a picture of the label.
