Hi Stamping Friends!

This is the final card from my May Best of 25 Years Club projects featuring the Best of Brides & Babies set.  Be sure to check out the other two Brides & Babies cards: Sparkling Bride & Groom and Let The Cute Begin.

Birdversary

I decided to try another Interlocking Hearts card with the cute love birds and the Comfort Café Designer Series Paper.  This image is the one exclusive, new stamp design in this "best of..." set.  So cute!  I thought the heart theme, done in a non-traditional, "woodsy" way would be perfect for this bird anniversary card, or as I like to call it, bird-versary!

Interlocking cards are so surprising and fun for the recipient!  This gate-fold card has a large heart adhered on one front panel and the smaller inside heart adhere on the other.  You can see complete details on how to create this card at this post: Twitterpated Gate-Fold Hearts.

I started with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Midnight Muse, scored with the Simply Scored tool along the 11" side at the 2-3/4" and 8-1/8” marks.  Then I adhered two different 2-1/2” x 4” pieces of Comfort Café DSP to the front gate panels.

Using the Hearts Collection Framelits, I die-cut the Soft Suede heart by nesting the two sizes of hearts on one pass through the Big Shot.  I used the third largest and fifth largest hearts and embossed it with the Woodgrain Folder.

I stamped the birdies image in Midnight Muse onto Very Vanilla and die-cut that with the fifth largest heart.  The image is colored with a Blender Pen and Classic Ink Pads in Summer Starfruit, Soft Suede, and Cajun Craze.  I added a Cajun Craze heart between the birds using the Owl Punch.

I adhered the left side of the outer Soft Suede heart to the left panel, and adhere the right side of the inside Vanilla heart to the right panel, so that they interlock when closed.  To keep the gate closed, I die-cut with the smallest Heart Framelit in Cajun Craze and adhered it to the card with Dimensionals.  TIP: It should overlap the large heart just slightly to keep it closed, but allow it to open easily.

It's a complicated looking card that is surprisingly easy to put together.  Try it with any nesting framelit set!

Hi Stamping Friends!

I've got the second card from my May Best of 25 Years Club projects to show you today featuring the Best of Brides & Babies set.  See the first card yesterday: Sparkling Bride & Groom.

Aren't they too CUTE?!!  Haha!  The "Let The Cute Begin Image" is perfect for baby showers, congratulations and welcome baby cards, and even for scrapbooks!

I started with a Lucky Limeade (retiring) card base, texture embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Folder.  Next, I added a 2-1/2" x 4-1/4" panel of Pretty In Pink (also retiring) to the front where the focal point will eventually go.

I stamped the image twice in StazOn Black: once on a 2-3/4” x 1-1/2” Whisper White piece, and once on a scrap of Tea For Two Designer Series Paper, strategically positioned to get the green stripes.

I used Island Indigo Classic Ink and Blender Pens to color in the letters.  Notice that I applied more ink to the top of the letters and faded the color toward the bottom. 

I cut out the greed striped onesie, colored in the heart on the front with more Island Indigo, then popped it up with Dimensionals.

The whole element is layered on a 3" x 1-3/4" Island Indigo mat.

I finished off the card by adding matching 5-1/2” x 1” strip of Tea For Two DSP layered on a 5-1/2" x 1-1/4" mat of Island Indigo.  Before adhering, I tied a Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine around it.

Second card, same elements...just changed up the way I colored the focal point.

This time, I colored the letters with Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo and Pretty in Pink.  The onesie was stamped on a different part of the Tea For Two paper for a pink/blue outfit.

I intentionally designed the card to be gender-neutral, so it's works for when you don't know if it's a boy or a girl.

Hi Stamping Friends!

We're approaching the popular time of year for weddings and baby showers, so the recently released Best of Brides & Babies couldn't have come at better time!  Last week, I finished up my three cards that I sent to my "Best of 25 Years" Club members featuring this versatile set and I'll show you the first one today.

Here is the first card my club members will get to make!

Brides - two cool

I chose a black & white color scheme that I thought added some elegance to the slightly whimsical image of the bride & groom.

The 3-3/4" x 5" Whisper White background was texture embossed with the soon-to-retire Vintage Wallpaper Folder, then layered on a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" mat of Basic Black. I tied the gorgeous, and very bride-like, White Organza Ribbon around that layer before adhering to the Whisper White card base.

The image was stamped in Black StazOn ink on Whisper White, then die-cut with the Ovals Collection Framelits.  The oval is layered on a Labels Collection Framelits die-cut in black and accented with Pearl Jewels.

I colored the image with Classic Ink Pads and Blender Pens using More Mustard for her hair, Soft Suede for his hair, Blushing Bride for their skin and flowers, and the new Smoky Slate for his suit. 

To make her dress and veil sparkle, I drew a bunch of loops with the 2-Way Glue Pen, then sprinkled on Dazzling Diamonds.  It's the glitter than truly makes this card. (Isn't it always?!)

My horizontal version uses the same elements, I just colored and glittered the image differently.

I used the same inks for the hair, but colored the flowers in Island Indigo and his suit in a darker Basic Gray color. 

Instead of drawing loops for the glitter, I drew lines to give the illusion of a flowing dress and veil.

Today's birthday card project, courtesy of Kathe Madsen, is the last one from our Too Cool Demo Team shoebox swap featuring the new Color Refresh colors.

Swap - kathe resist 

Kathe's card uses the Emboss Resist technique and features a combination of several of the new Color Refresh colors: Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and the new Smoky Slate!

The card base is the Smoky Slate color, which is a pretty, light gray.  This is going to be a fantastic new neutral...can't wait to pair it with other colors!

The background of the card is so spectacular!  I love the Emboss Resist technique, but Kathe had us take it one step further!  First we inked up the En Francais background stamp with VersaMark Ink and stamped that on our 3-3/4" x 5" Whisper White card stock.  Then, we stamped the bold flower stamp from Secret Garden randomly over the top, also in VersaMark Ink.  I had never tried stamping multiple image layers before embossing—cool!  We sprinkled it all with Clear Embossing Powder and embossed it with the Heat Tool.

Next, we sponged on Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder and Calypso Coral inks randomly over the entire piece to bring out the clear image.  I never get tired of watching the image appear as more ink is applied!

We stamped more Secret Garden flowers in Calypso Coral onto Whisper White and die-cut them with the coordinating Secret Garden Framelits. We topped them with Pearl Jewels.

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners, which we stamped in VersaMark onto Wisteria Wonder card stock and embossed with White Embossing Powder.  The Bitty Banners Framelits makes cutting that out easy, as well!

French Foliage—This a gorgeous set that is classic and timeless!  I love the realistic leaves and coordinating images that are so collage-friendly for layering!  This is a very versatile set for all kinds of occasions and techniques.  The rainbow masking was a great way to use the images as silhouettes.  And I simply adore the way you can adhere the leaves together to create a beautiful poinsettia flower!  VERY sad to see this one go!

Elements of Style—I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE every image in this beautiful set and THIS one is gonna hurt!  It's one set that I've never gotten tired of, and have been using consistently ever since it came out.  The flower image is way more versatile than I ever imagined it would be, and the vine flourish creates pretty backgrounds.  Even the "Life Is A Matter of Moments" works for so many special events.  I may not be able to let this one go.

Today's card is courtesy of Darla Eigenschink.  Its simple, no-frills style and soft, Pool Party color make it perfect for a masculine card.

Darla's card features one of the pretty patterns in the new Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper, which will be available for purchase when the new catalog is released on May 31, 2013.  Woohoo!  I can't wait!

The card base is Pool Party.  I really like the diagonal designer paper on the Whisper White layer—a fun design element!  But, I LOVE the cool way that Darla wrapped the White Baker's Twine around the card...

She used the new Petite Curly Label Punch to create a notch to keep the twine in place diagonally.  Too Cool!

We finished off the card by tying on a little "happy day" accent, stamped in Island Indigo with the Ciao, Baby! stamp set and punched with the Petite Curly Label Punch. 

The larger sentiment is from the Make A Wish stamp set, also stamped in Island Indigo. 

FYI - Ciao, Baby! is retiring on May 31, but the Make A Wish set made it into the new catalog.

Woohoo!  It's another cool way to use the gorgeous Swallowtail butterfly stamp!  I love it!  We started by stamping the image in Bermuda Bay Classic Ink onto Vellum card stock, then embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  The ink will stay wet enough to hold the powder since it's on the non-porous vellum surface.

I love how the embossing looks on the vellum, but the best part is the white highlights we added next!

Simply turn over the card stock and, using a stylus, color on the back where you want white to show through. We used a Piercing Mat underneath for a little "give" when we were coloring.

We layered the vellum onto a Whisper White card stock base that had two squares of Bermuda Bay underneath for a lovely contrast.  We added a Glue Dot to the center and the corners are secured with Mini Silver Brads.

The sentiment from Bring On The Cake was stamped in Black StazOn Ink, again because the Classic Ink doesn't dry well on the vellum. It's adhered to the card front with two Glue Dots.
