Trend Routing Technology, the UK market leader in routing technology, is launching a light duty plunge router for the hobbyist and craftsman, the T4EK.

The T4EK is a 110v 1/4” shank portable plunge router with a variable speed from 11,500 to 32,000 RPM and an impressive 1.1hp motor, and weighs in at only 7.7lbs.

Festool's TS55 Plunge Cut Circular Saw

Keeping in line with their reputation for having the highest quality tools on the market, Festool's TS55 EQ is not just another 6-1/4 inch plunge cut circular saw. The TS55 weighs only 9.92 pounds and has a saw blade speed of 2,000 - 5,200 rpm.

Festool states that the TS 55 is easier to handle and more accurate than traditional circular saws due to their incorporation of MMC electronics. More specifically, the MMC electronics are a variable speed that allows you to match the speed of the saw to the material. The electronics also maintain a consistent speed under load, improving cut performance and protecting the saw’s motor from thermal and current overload. Also, the TS 55 makes the actual cut right on the edge of the scribe line, even on bevel cuts. How's that for accuracy?

You may have noticed that the factory reconditioned DeWalt DC927KL18V hammerdrill/driver kit was one of the special ToolKing.com deals that I posted yesterday, but we feel that it is such a good deal that it deserves its own post.

So why is it such an awesome deal? Well, a single 18V DeWalt NANO battery with a charger costs $179 and a battery alone costs $149. Compare to this kit, which is currently selling at ToolKing.com for $259.88. The kit includes TWO NANO batteries, a charger, the DC927 hammerdrill/driver and a box to carry it all in. In other words, for just $80 more than you'll pay for a single battery with a charger, you get an extra battery and a hammerdrill. Two batteries alone--no charger!--costs $40 more than this kit is selling for right now. Tempting, yes?

Go check it out before this deal disappears!

Luckily, 10C Technologies has the solution. Their 10C PRO and 10C CREW battery chargers are designed to accept batteries from many popular tool brands with special adapters that slip right into their charge ports. But that's not where the story ends; these chargers are also capable of recharging a battery in just fifteen minutes and reviving batteries that would otherwise be considered dead. Pretty cool, eh?

Pete from Tool King wanted to talk sprayers with us. So we decided to put him on the air. In this clip he touches on some advantages of H.V.L.P. spray guns. Also he'll show off one of the sprayers he uses most frequently the Porter Cable PSH2 Gravity Feed Detail Spray Gun.

Superstore! These useful super-heavy-duty "boxes/offices" have a
variety of uses from a secure tool storage container to a portable
field office complete with electricity. And the nice thing about the
JOBOX is that they are made in our good old state of Arkansas.

We like JOBOX - basically as a company, they seek out the VOC - Voice of the Consumer. JOBOX engineers go out to the contractors themselves and ask them what they need in a tool chest, storage/workshop box. Then they return to their drawing boards and give the people what they want.

Compared to Fein MultiMaster, the Dremel has a narrower body which for smaller hands makes it easier to handle. The Dremel has a shorter cord and the accessories are not of the same quality as Fein's accessories. The blades and scrapers are made of thinner metal and have a smaller cutting area. On hte Dremel, they are switched out with a hex screw as opposed to the new Top Action Lever System on the newer Fein Multimasters. However, the Dremel states that their accessories also fit the Fein Multi-Master 636 and the Bosch Multi-X PS50 with a separate accessory attachment that is not included.

Keeping in line with their record of fine engineering, the RS35 has a 15-amp, variable speed motor featuring Bosch's patented Constant Response circuitry which enables the RS35 Demo Saw to maintain consistent, controlled power even while cutting through the toughest materials. This circuitry, combined with an adjustable orbital action that provides superior, aggressive cutting performance over a broad range of materials makes the RS35 the fastest cutting reciprocating saw on the market. At least, that's what Bosch says.

The new DareDevil spade bit takes performance to another level. Based on the independent testing, Bosch has designed the fastest, easiest to use bit ever, and we dare you to try it.

The key to this performance is the patented design of the bit itself.
Many of the other wood drilling products come with a threaded tip for
fast smooth feeding. A first for spades, Bosch has incorporated a full
cone threaded tip, which has increased not only the speed of the bit,
but also the ease of drilling.

Ask Rick: Did I Make a Good Choice for My First Router?

Hey Rick! I just bought my first router and I want
to make sure that I bought the right one. I got a router kit, as I have the
money to do it right now and might not in the future. I picked up the
Craftsman Professional 12.5 amp fixed/plunge/d-handle combo kit the other day
and paid $219 for it. After reading some reviews out there for other brand
routers (it's tough to find reviews on Craftsman products other than the
Sears website), I'm not sure I have made the best choice. I know I got a lot
of options for my money, but I'd rather have the better cutting tool for my
money, quality over quantity, ya know? Anyway, any direction you could give
me on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Dustin

Dustin,

Thanks for the inquiry.

Several manufacturers make nice routers,
including Sears.
I personally own an older Sears Craftsman 1 horsepower router
and it has done a great job for me on smaller projects.
Certainly the
best way to purchase any router is in a combination pack (fixed/plunge).
I
also personally own Bosch, Festool and Porter-Cable routers and I use them on
more demanding/heavier projects.
I'm sure you will experience great
success with your Craftsman product.

Click Read More for the rest of this Ask Rick article!
This is the user Bosch Power Tools & Accessories had in mind when it designed the powerful RS35 Demolition Reciprocating Saw. Featuring a robust motor, the fastest cutting action, and lowest vibration in its class, the RS35 is an impressive entry for Bosch into the heavy-duty demolition saw category.

Looking for a tool to make cutting through plastic pipe and tubing easier? Then check out the new RIDGID® RC-2375 ratcheting plastic pipe and tubing cutter.

Cutting up to 2-3/8-inch O.D. capacity, the RC2375 pipe cutter has an advanced blade design combined with a ratcheting mechanism to reduce the amount of force needed to cut through plastic pipe and tubing, states the manufacturer. Featuring X-CEL(TM) quick-change technology, the blade can be changed in seconds without any tools and lasts up to 2,000 cuts. The quick-change pin has no clips or screws that might be lost during a blade change. Constructed of aluminum and featuring ergonomic handles, the RC-2375 provides a comfortable, lightweight grip for precise and easy cuts of plastic pipe and tubing such as PVC and CPVC, PEX, polyethylene, polybutylene and rubber hose.

Come one come all to see the bouncy spring driven woodworking tools!!! Tool King is now carrying Spring Tools' Woodworking Assortments. We decided to do a broadcast featuring Spring Tools' IDRK905 Stamp Kit and their CA198 Woodworking Kit. The CA198 includes a nail set / center punch, wood chisel and a nail starter. The idea of making a chisel, stamp or nail setter out of a spring seems almost funny at first. Though it works great! Wanna know how?! Watch the video!

Let's face it: tools are inherently hard to keep organized. If you have a big tool collection and no way to keep that collection in order, chances are good that your toolbox looks like it was recently in the path of a tornado. Having to dig around to find the right wrench or screwdriver wastes time and is about as much fun as bobbing for apples in a tub of battery acid and barbed wire, so why not get that toolbox organized?

This is where Ernst Manufacturing comes in. If you've never heard of Ernst before, you should definitely check out what they have to offer: everything from trays and drawer dividers to socket rails and portable wrench grippers.

Similar in design and ergonomics, the Dremel Multi-Max fits comfortably in my hand with the on/off switch in easy thumbs reach. A rubber grip helps with shock absorption while the 1.5amp motor runs from 10,000 to 21,000 OPM (oscillations per minute).

September, 2008 -- The Hilti PMC 36 is the first compact combilaser on the market.
From now on, users only need one laser tool for a wide range of alignment and setting out tasks:
checking plumbs, leveling, setting out right angles or transferring points—the PMC 36 does everything a point laser and line laser can in one.

Really finished this time. With that task, I took the opportunity to check out the new Bosch 18v Brute Tough Hammer Drill/Driver 17618-01 and was grateful for how quickly it helped us get the job completed.

With over 650 inch pounds of torque supplied by the Bosch 17618-01, we had no problem drilling quick holes for concrete lag bolts. The high speed mode produces 2050 rpm and up to 30,750bpm! The 18v Bosch Hammer Drill made even easier work of fastening lag bolts into pressure treated 4x4's.

The Ultimate Throne: Norest 550 Toilet

I know that this has absolutely nothing to do with power tools but its Friday and I just couldn't help myself.

The Norest 550 Toilet will play different mp3 sounds to mask "bodily noises". So for example, you're at someone's house who has this toilet and, well I don't even need to get into the details. I mean, doesn't everyone know the reason you go to the bathroom in the first place? Are they actually going to think you're practicing a flute in there?

The Norest 550 also "features an oscillating and pulsating warm water spray massage that saves 50 percent to 90 percent of toilet paper. The dual-flush toilet also includes a heated seat, a warm air dryer, and a detachable seat cover. The toilet opens, closes, and flushes automatically, and the toilet bowl and rim feature an ionized glaze that prevents particles from adhering to the surface, the company says." It slices, it dices - sounds like this toilet will fetch the newspaper. I could go on....

Cool Helper Tools: Little Hand HD

Everyone needs a hand sometimes. But sometimes there is no one is around to help. So FastCap LLC has come up with this micro-jack tool called the Little Hand HD that "may just make your job and life easier."

The Little Hand is basically a mini-jack with a 6" x 6" top and bottom that you can use, for instance, to hold up cabinets while you screw them into the wall. For 30 bucks, it's cheaper than hiring an assistant. The Little Hand can be adjusted from 16.5" to 22.8" and will support up to 70 pounds.

If you need a longer arm then the bigger Little Hand, aka: Third Hand, extends from 57" to 144" and will hold up to 1500 pounds. That's quite a bit more load than my little brother can hold AND it's only 39 dollars.

ReMARKable Hand Made Pens

Mark and Dawn Ewell have been turning wood for many years. The result has been quite a collection of pens crafted from woods such as aspen, birch, cocobolo, hickory, purple heart, walnut and zebrawood or other products manufactured just for pen making. The photo to the left shows one of their hand-made pens that was crafted out of Colordao Aspen (available at ReMARKablepens.com).

The Ewell's inspiration came from a demonstration on pen turning at a national woodworking show in 2004. After retirement, they had been looking for a project that they could do together and this demo struck a chord with them. They began by purchasing a JET Wood-turning Lathe and the pen making progressed from there.

Bosch Multi-Tool PS50

I'm almost embarrassed to admit how excited I am to get my hands on the new Bosch Multi-tool PS50. I don't have anything except this photo to stare longingly at - but soon they tell me.

In the meantime, some of the very cool features that Bosch is bragging about include: a 240-degree adjustable tool holder and variable speed dial (5,000-20,000 rpm); 12v cordless with more power than competing multi-tools (30-minute charge time on battery); super-lightweight at 2.2 pounds (including battery); and that the PS50 is the most ergonomic multi-purpose oscillating tool while performing the fastest in cutting and sanding applications.

We don't know exactly how much smoke their blowing...

Since the iTunes App Store launched two months ago it has amassed a collection of over 2,000 different applications in every flavor imaginable, from the bizarre to the indispensable. Because there is such a huge variety of apps now, you can find all sorts of unconventional things that expand the usefulness of your iPhone or iPod Touch in awesome and unexpected ways. Here's ten examples of tool-like iPhone/iPod Touch apps that should give you an idea of what I am talking about:

A Level - You may remember this one from Ben's article about it. Using the accelerometer built into the iPhone/iPod Touch, A Level gives you a virtual level complete with calibration capabilities and a ruler to make it as accurate as possible. A Level costs $0.99.

Tape Measure - This one has a slightly misleading name, but it's still an awesome app. It won't allow you to take small-scale measurements like the size of a room in your house, but it will measure approximate distances on a larger scale; for example, if you want to measure a good-sized lot or figure out how far your house is from the supermarket as-the-crow-flies, Tape Measure can do it for you. It can also give you your current elevation, latitude and longitude. This app is most useful on the iPhone 3G because it relies heavily on GPS--a feature that is missing from older iPhones and the iPod Touch--to perform its measurements. Tape Measure costs $0.99.

Want the rest of the list? Click Read more!
