Hi there! I have a long White beard that extends down to the middle of my chest. I am often mistaken for Santa Clause by people and kids on the street because of my long White beard and long White hair. Actually I am the Easter Bunny in disguise. (ho, ho, ho).

I wash my White beard in Selsun Blue. That stops my face skin from flaking and gives me a shiny, silky finish for my long White beard. I then condition it in my regular shampoo conditioner. It is not Blue. It is White. The White conditioner keeps me from having the Blues (ha!)

My White beard is much longer than this now. Notice the Blue shirt and the Blue sky. And although you can’t see them, I have on Blue jeans, They match my Blue eyes… and yes, Mary Ann, they do twinkle. The sunglasses, Blue Blockers, help hide my Easter Bunny Identity. I have no desire to enter the Federal Witness Protection Program. That would make me Blue!

Subtle blue gradients from sky to sea as Michael biking along gives additional interest to the picture. The reflections on the wet sand reflects the photographers intent, capturing the the magic of the blue moment.

Charles, reporting from Coop’s Corner informs us that IBM, the biggest of the Big Blues, has made in investment in cloud computing. What is cloud computing? Computerworld Magazine defined it like this:

Cloud Computing describes a system where users can connect to a vast network of computing resources, data and servers that reside somewhere “out there,” usually on the Internet, rather than on a local machine or a LAN or in a data center. Cloud computing can give on-demand access to super-computer-level power, even from a thin client or mobile device such as a smart phone or laptop.1

This blog is being hosted on a cloud on-demand system.

IBM was nicknamed “Big Blue” and the source to the nickname is not known although many have guesses.2 Regardless of how it started, in our modern culture IBM is the quintessential Big Blue.

I’ve just coined the term “Cirrus Cloud Computing.” There are different levels of cloud computing so I though the systems that are massive should have the highest cloud rating. I’m using cloud computing and I’ve blogged about it here. My cloud computing use would be classified as “Nimbostratus Cloud Computing” because it is more of a lower level use of the cloud system.

Cloud computing’s future is loftier with Big Blue starting a Cirrus Cloud Computing seeding project.

That is how it starts, simple enough, “The Blue Lobster.” Virginia DeBolt who runs the About First 50 Words starts the story with, yep, the first 50 words.

Her story is about the beginnings of a restaurant. How would you finish the story? Use her comment form to show your next 50 or so words.

There really are blue lobsters. Apparently, the blue is caused by a genetic mutation that causes an excess amount of protein to be produced.1

This is what I wrote but you will have to go to First 50 Words to see the beginning.

During the discussion of money we got a call from Gordon Ramsay saying that he would be willing to back the restaurant.

He heard about the adventure and agrees that any placed called “The Blue Lobster” should have the blue boy front and center. He just wants to make sure we don’t server the blue lobster until we offer the dinner on ebay. Blue Lobsters are very rare.

The world watched in awe as China put on what some say was the best-ever Olympics opening ceremony ever. The proceedings culminated with the lighting of the Olympic torch by one of China’s sporting greats, Li Ning, who was hanging from a wire high above the crowd.
If you have ever tried to sing along I would strongly suggest reading the chorus lyrics slowly and carefully one time, then you might get it right while singing.

I’m blue da ba dee da ba di da ba dee da ba di da ba dee da ba di da ba dee
Da ba di da ba dee da ba di da ba dee da ba di da ba dee da ba di3

When I looked for Eiffel 65 Blue on YouTube I found quite a few videos. The first one has over 7.5 million views so I think it is the bands version. There are several other video versions as well as people have taken the music and created a new video for it.

Creative individuals have also sampled the music into their computers and “remixed” the song in their own unique way. I laughed when I saw that a lot of the videos were of the audio mixing program playing the remixed version showing the “bouncing ball” on a time line. Some of the mixes are good, a lot of them are….

Add to the 7.5 million count by watching the video below.

Yo listen up here’s a story
About a little guy that lives in a blue world
Is just blue
Like him inside and outside
Blue his house with a blue little window
And a blue Corvette
And everything is blue for him
And his self and everybody around
Cause he ain’t got nobody to listen

Blue is the colour of all that I wear
Blue are the streets and all the trees are too
I have a girlfriend and she is so blue
Blue are the people here that walk around
Blue like my Corvette, it’s standing outside

The blue light slips through the slots illuminating the night, showing off its life. The light is proof of life in this computing machine. With help from it’s carbon master this machine, who the master calls Navi1 will grow and become more advanced as they both grow more powerful with knowledge.

This light breathing computing machine was built by Andrew Watson, who also took the picture “Navi Side Panel.” When I asked him main purpose for the machine he replied “I do love to game, and while there’s nothing this computer can’t handle, that’s not it’s main purpose. I do literally everything on my Navi. I do a lot of track recording and audio mixing, video production, and a ton of photoshop! It’s really the central hub for all my art/expression.

Andrew’s art and expression have expressed themselves with the creation of this computing companion. Creating the housing box in his way took a little effort. Andrew said “This was not nearly as simple as I thought it was going to be. I had to buy special metal cutting blades for the jigsaw I was using. After the bulk of that was cut, I used a large file and angle grinder to smooth things out. Then I cut a window on Plexiglas to fit and perfect fit!”

The picture “Navi Side Panel” didn’t come easily either. Andrew bracketed more than 10 shots to get this one.

Yancey: What do you like about your photograph?

Andrew: The pressed vent holes with the cathode tube bleeding through them creates an interesting effect, almost giving life to big jumble of wires and metal. The vents broadcast their image on my walls, giving my machine an almost omnipresent feel.

Yancey: When I look at the photograph I see contained energy, the picture is so vibrant blue it seems full of energy. I also like how you worked the depth of field. How hard was it to get this photo working with the new digital camera?

Andrew: I like to think of depth of field combined with repetition to be my trademark, I love the feel and look of “infinity”. Granted I don’t have a top-notch camera, I did find it hard to take these pictures without blasting too much light into the lens. You can even tell in that photo where the rays are creating some interference with the lens.

I can see what Andrew means on the depth of field. I too really enjoy shots with repeating features that help to emphasize the changes. Also, look at the picture again and see if you can see the lens interference he is referring to.

Andrew has been experimenting with a new digital camera after having a great experience with traditional photography. I asked him some questions about how he has handled the film to digital transition.

Yancey: What do you dislike about the camera and what do you like about it?

Andrew: Lens size, Lens size, Lens size! I strongly prefer SLR cameras as that’s the platform I learned on with film. But this Canon has enough features and decent enough quality for me to bring great pictures to the table.

Yancey: What do you miss about your old camera and what not miss about your old camera?

Andrew: I’ll answer both those questions in a word, film. It’s expensive, a pain to wait on and can be unreliable. Yet nothing can match an analogue picture, and overall I would prefer it. But hey, I’m lazy and a nerd so digital cameras suit me just fine.

It’s like the preference for Vinyls over CDs.

But while Andrew and I were talking, Navi was listening, quietly, with just the fans humming. I wonder what Navi was thinking. I wonder when Navi began to start thinking. Oh well, as long a Navi believes that the master is needed, all will be well. The cold cathode blue tubes continue to breathe.

The meme2 of the living machine has turned into teme, technology memes.

If you are coming up 231 from the Willow Springs area, take the Jasmine Hill Road exit, it about a mile up the road. The road will turn North as you are about half way there.

Google has the city of Blue Ridge, for which I am guessing the Blue Ridge Baptist Church was named, North on Jasmine Hill Road about a mile and a half where the road turns towards the East.

The airline is currently struggling with the high cost of fuel and increased operating costs. The CEO, Dave Barger took a 50% cut in his 2008 base pay to try to help stem the losses. Prices of fuel have increased 83 percent since he began on the job.2

Just today, Monday August 4th, 2008, Jet Blue has announce that they will be charging $7 if you want to use a pillow or blanket. It comes with a $5 coupon for Bed Bath & Beyond but if you shop there regularly, you get coupons in the mail. As usual, you can not combine coupons so for regular customers to Bed Bath & Beyond, the JetBlue coupon is best left in the sky. Alaska Airlines has also started charging for blankets.3

The JetBlue web site has a nice Blue orange theme. They have a blue “points” card and even a ShopBlue where you can purchase all kinds of Blue items. They have toy airplanes of course but they also have shirts, drinking bottles, puzzles, airport play sets and even a hoddie for your doggie.

Are you flier or a jetter? Jetblue has a companion web site at HappyJetting.com. They reframe the experience to make “Jetting” sound more fun than just “flying.” You can take a test to see if you are a Flyer or a Jetter. They take the opportunity to show you the reasons why their product is superior.

Where else could a work day involve shopping on eBay and showing off the world’s oldest pair of jeans?”
I have used and abused jeans for years and go through the knees quick enough that I have a closet full of “blue jean shorts.” I always get a nice new pair and I can usually keep them clean for awhile. But then there is that day when I just happen to have “the good pair” on and I do something that paints them, rips them, or stains them. “The good pair” then becomes the “the work pair.”

I’ve got my red label on my Levi’s® Jeans. I express my blueness daily with my blue jeans.

Living in darkness and under the oppression of her mother, Selina now seeks patches of blue.

The mother, played by Shelley Winters, is manipulative and keeps Selina as a servant. The mother has a bad attitude and everyone in the audience wants Selina to get away from her. Shelley Winters played the part so well that she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for this role. I know I did not like her character.

A caterpillar falls from a tree, out of the blue, and down Selina’s dress. She is in the park and after yelling for help Gordon Ralfe (Sidney Poitier) arrives to retrieve the caterpillar. A friendship ensues with love following not too far behind. Selina has found a glimpse of her patch of blue.

All is going along fine until Mom finds out what is going on. Mom is a racist and Selina is color blind. The tension is well played out with an ending worth waiting for. Selina gets her patch of blue.

The movie was shot in black and white but the production value and acting make this a movie that will survive the ages. If you have never seen it, then take this opportunity to watch A Patch of Blue. It might help you to look for your patch.

Blue plays a big part in the use of Reiki and positive energy experiences. In Reiki and other modalities, the color Blue is associated with the Blue Throat Chakra. Actually the correct blue color is sky blue, but is blue nevertheless.

The Blue Throat Chakra:

is in charge of the Throat

controls our speech

affects content of speech

affects context of speech

is the center of our Will

A healthy Blue Throat Chakra will result if our speech is honest and true, not only to others in life, but to ourselves. We have all felt that “lump” in our throats when we face a difficult or scary speaking situation; such as speaking before a crowd or having to tell someone some hurtful news. This is an example of the Blue Throat Chakra at work in our lives.

Therefore the healthy Blue Throat Chakra should be one of honesty and truth with our speech as well as our intentions. As we make our choices in life, those choices have consequences, not only in our physical lives, but with our energetic lives as well. Even making the decision to not express ourselves may manifest itself in some type of illness or throat disorder.

The Attributes of the Blue Throat Chakra:

The Blue color of the Blue Throat Chakra is expressed by the crystals:

Chrysocola

Lapis

and Blue Opal

The Mental and Emotional aspects of the Blue Throat Chakra are:

personal expression

creativity

addiction

faith

criticism

decision making (choices)

will

lack of authority

Information stored inside the Blue Throat Chakra includes:

self-knowledge

truth

attitudes

hearing

taste

and smell

Spiritual Lessons of the Blue Throat Chakra are:

confession

surrender personal will over to divine will

faith

and truthfulness over deceit

Areas of Body Governed by the Blue Throat Chakra are:

the throat

thyroid

trachea

neck vertebrae

mouth

teeth

gums

esophagus

parathyroid

hyperthalemus

Physical Dysfunctions associated with the Blue Throat Chakra are:

sore throat

mouth ulcers

scoliosis

swollen glands

thyroid dysfunctions

laryngitis

voice problems

gum

tooth problems

So when you think of the color Blue, think of how you express yourself. Think honesty, truth and free will and you will maintain a healthier Blue Throat Chakra and will be better for it.

Tony shot the image while visiting Sydney Aquarium in New South Wales Australia. He was walking through the aquarium when he saw his shot. Tony said, “All I did was point and shoot with the camera set on auto! This was my first time shooting through glass and I had no idea what the result would be!”

Tony was using a Nikon D80.
Exposure: 0.033 sec (1/30)

Welcome to the Top Blue Blog where we will be talking about and looking at all things blue. Blue is chosen as a favorite color above all other colors. Is your favorite color blue? Then this blog is for you!

The earth is a blue planet with a blue sky and blue ocean waters. Neptune and Uranus appear blue because of gases in their atmosphere. Blue stars are the hottest stars in the universe.

Blue is a Primary Color

Blue is a primary color in our society. In the RGB (red green blue) color system, it shares the spotlight with red and green. Being a primary color means that it can be mixed with other colors to make new ones. With colored light, Blue and Green make Cyan and Blue and Red make Pink or Magenta. Computer screens and TVs mix Blue, Red and Green pixels to create millions of colors.

Blue Nature

Blue abounds in nature. People have worn blue clothes and painted with blue paint for centuries because of blue pigment. A pigment is an insoluble substance that works in liquid as a paint or ink. Organic blue pigments include copper and indanthrone. Inorganic blue pigments include cobalt blue, prussian blue, and ultramarine.

During the course of this blog, we will be looking at blue creatures including:

Blue Birds
Blue Whales
Blue Fish
Blue Lobsters
Blue Cats
Blue Insects
Blue Reptiles

Blues Music, Blues Groups

The music of the blues will be discussed as well as songs that mention blue. There is a musician named “Blue,” an English pop band named “Blue” and a whole slew of bands that use blue in the title including Blue Man Group, Blue Box, Blues Brothers, Moody Blues, Blues Traveler and Blue Nile.

All Things Blue

We will visit countries that have blue as a national color and look at politics use of the color. We will find cities, landmarks, and geographic areas with blue in the name. We will look at companies with blue logos. You will read stories about psychology, mysticism, symbolism and religion all coming from a blue point of view. We will review movies, books and sports teams that have a relationship with blue.

Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue

Yancey Grantham and
The Blue Team at Top Blue Blog

The Blue Ridge Ski Lift was built in 1947 by Frank Springer and Tom Triol and was the second chairlift in Southern California. The ski resort was renamed from Blue Ridge Ski Resort to Mountain High in 1975.1

There are two ski areas coming off of Blue Ridge now, Mountain High West and Mountain High East.

According to the Ski Wrightwood web site, Mountain High West Resort has a peak at 8,000 feet with 1000 feet of skiable vertical drop. Mountain High East Resort’s peak is a little higher on the Blue Ridge at 8,200 with 1600 feet of drop for skiing.

There may be two schools districts in the neighborhood. Hoover City School District seems to be in the Northern part with Jefferson County School District being on the Southern border.

You can see this Blue Ridge ridge by traveling on Cerro Noroeste Road also known as the Mil Potrero Highway. Blue Ridge is just to the West of Brush Mountain (7,048′).

To get to Cerro Noroeste Road from I-5, take the exit for Frazier Park, it is between Gorman and Lebec. It is about a 30 minutes drive from I-5.

From the road, the Blue Ridge is over 1000 feet higher than the road in certain places. The Blue Ridge is part of the Los Prades National Forest.

This Blue Ridge can be seen from I-5, Southern Redding, Anderson, Cottonwood and especially Igo and Ono.

This is just in Shasta county because on the other side of the ridge is Trinity County. There is a white knuckle road that goes along Blue Ridge called East County Line Road. Make sure you have plenty of gas, water and know how to drive a 4WD.

The North Fork of Cotton Creek flows from the top of Blue Ridge. This used to go down a creek called Rushing Creek but since they dammed it up at Rainbow Lake the Rushing Creek does not rush anymore.

Blue Ridge is about 1 mile South of Lake Shasta. Lake Shasta’s Ski Island is to the Northeast. Expect a long hard climb up steep slopes if you try to get to this Blue Ridge from Lake Shasta. If you park a houseboat on the shore and go for a hike, this is a great destination. You will really feel like you are out in the woods.

There is a rock quarry about 1 mile to the Northwest of Blue Ridge. They set off explosions regularly and the earthquake meters pick it up, they state that it is just a quarry explosion.

Bear Mountain is the tallest around and there is a fire watch tower on the top. Your best bet is getting to Blue Ridge from Shasta Lake or Bear Mountain Road to the South.

According to the Arizona State School Report Card, they are doing a great job of teaching the kids.

There are 4 reviews on GreatSchools.net including this one from 2004:

 5 out of 5 stars Posted January 9, 2004

My children have attended other schools with a variety of principals. The principal really does make a big difference in the environment and Dr. Pullin is a key factor in this school being so incredible. He is visible, open, and he welcomes communication. He encourages and praises his teachers and the teachers are also very positive. He listens to the parents’ concerns and his goal is to do all he can to help the parents and students feel comfortable and to be able to succeed.

At the summit, on the north side of the road, is a large trailhead parking lot for the Pacific Crest Trail complete with restrooms. Also on the north side is a nature trail circling Lightning Ridge with an incredible display of wildflowers for much of the year.
This is easy to get to from Mesa, Scottsdale, Temple, Gilbert, and Chandler. Take Highway 60 East to the 202 which you want to go North on. Highway 202 is also called the Red Mountain Freeway. Turn right or East on East Apache Trail. Take it until it turns into West Apache Trail. Watch for the light at North Apache Trail and be sure to go Northeast on North Apache Trail. Drive through Apache Junction. North Apache Trail is also Highway 88.

You can see the Blue Ridge from Lost Dutchman State Park.

Get closer by turning onto North Hackamore Road and go until it changes into North Packsaddle Road. Look to your left or West and you should see the Blue Ridge. It is right behind the ridge called Saddle Rock. Blue Ridge is taller raising above 2400′ above sea level.

There are not any marked roads to the ridge which is in this circle area. Starting at the railroad at in the North, Blanton Lane goes around the East side connecting with Dixie Springs Road which goes across the bottom then back up the Western side. Turn onto Blanton Road to go from the West side back up to the railroad tracks and meeting with Blanton Lane.

There are a lot of dirt roads in the area. When you look at the satellite image of the area, all the trees are planted in rows.

In the mountains North of Los Angeles, in the Northern part of the mountains is a ridge called Blue Ridge.

It is South of Highway 138 and closest to the town of Wrightwood. It is South of Highway 2 also called Big Pines Highway and also called Angles Crest Scenic Byway.

Blue Ridge is the ridge you see to the South when you are in the city of Wrightwood

The road that runs to this Blue Ridge in Los Angeles County is NF-3N06. It is only about three and a half miles off of Highway 2. So if you are taking the Angeles Crest Scenic Byway, turn Southeast about five and a half mile out of Wrightwood onto NF-3N06, total trip time should be less than an hour from Wrightwood. NF-3N06 runs the ridge line so the view is fantastic.

This is the only Blue Ridge off of the Angeles Crest Scenic Byway.
