Slone Partners, a nationwide executive search firm for life sciences and healthcare organizations, has announced the placement of Kurt Gish Ph.D., as Chief Scientific Officer at BioLoomics, a biotechnology company that targets peptide-antibody chimeras to specific compartments inside of diseased cells. Dr Gish will focus on building the company’s pipeline of lysosomal targeting ADCs in oncology to overcome the limitations of poor tumor uptake, which hinders safety and efficacy across the ADC market.

Prior to BioLoomics, Dr. Gish served as Chief Scientific Officer and Founder of Trilo Therapeutics where he pioneered a novel DNA encoded library approach to build D-peptide conjugates to rival traditional ADC modalities. Prior to Trilo, Dr. Gish was an early pioneer in ADCs at AbbVie, investigating novel linkers and payloads, exploring the nature of antigen-independent toxicity and driving two ADC programs into human clinical trials. He serves on the scientific advisory board of the Myeloma Investment Fund of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

“Kurt Gish is a tremendously talented and highly respected scientist and business leader with a history of driving the development of innovative therapies and treatments,” said Leslie Loveless, CEO and Managing Partner at Slone Partners. “As BioLoomics continues seeking new solutions to unlock the many mysteries of cancer, Dr. Gish will play an important role as part of the company’s leadership team.”

“Kurt is an impressive and accomplished scientist who sits at the intersection of ADCs, peptides, and target discovery/validation. He has a deep understanding of how improper spatial targeting of ADCs has limited the field,” said Doug Chapnick, Founder and CEO of BioLoomics. “With his deep experience in the ADC space, I am confident that Kurt will be invaluable to advancing BioLoomics’s technology to build safer and more efficacious ADCs for both strategic partners and internal programs.”

“BioLoomics is developing incredible technology to deliver more therapeutic drugs directly into cancer cells while minimizing systemic toxicity,” remarked Dr. Gish. “I’m thrilled to join such an innovative team and look forward to getting the best possible treatments to patients who so desperately need them.”

Dr. Gish earned his Ph.D. in Biology from Stanford University and studied molecular immunology during his postdoctoral fellowship at the DNAX Research Institute.

Oak Brook-IL-based WittKieffer has released a new program to expedite time to success for physician leaders taking on new roles. The accelerating impact for physician leaders solution differentiates itself from other physician leadership training and support in that it is customized to the executive, their specific role, and their organization. In addition to a coaching component, the program features direct mentorship from a highly experienced and proven physician leader.

“Physician leadership is critical in healthcare’s current era which prioritizes quality, efficiency, and patient centricity,” said Raj Ramachandran, senior partner of WittKieffer’s leadership advisory. “While many physicians are natural born leaders, they are challenged to transition into increasingly demanding roles and to make an immediate impact upon their teams and organizations.”

“The accelerating impact for physician leaders solution not only provides the executive with expert, structured learning but also is highly interactive and encourages the leader to invest in themselves to excel in a new role,” Mr. Ramachandran said. “Our goal is to help physician leaders move from issues to outcomes by providing space for clarity, courage, and connection. The program will serve them well for the future but also benefit them in the here and now.”

“The MDs on WittKieffer’s team who help direct the accelerating impact for physician leaders solution have served as chief medical officers, medical school deans, and in other senior roles and have experienced the challenges and joys of leading at the highest level,” said Michael Anderson, WittKieffer principal who also serves as a senior advisor to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “They partner with our expert leadership coaches to offer newly hired executives a special opportunity to acclimate to a new position and environment and find immediate success. The benefits and return on investment of this program can’t be overstated.”

How Accelerating Impact for Physician Leaders is Unique

WittKieffer’s accelerating-impact offering sets itself apart from other onboarding or leadership transition programs:

Differentiated Experience: This program caters to individual development needs. The leader gains an understanding of their context, strengths, and areas for development within that context.
Expert Advice: Each participant gains access to a certified coach as well as mentoring from one of WittKieffer’s physician executive consultants, providing an environment of continuous learning and development.
Interactive Engagement: The physician leader is an active participant in their growth journey through a series of engaging sessions and discussions.
Real-Time Relevance: The program assists each leader to place their leadership in the context of the latest healthcare industry trends and topics, ensuring they are equipped to make informed, strategic decisions and drive results.

WittKieffer assists hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, medical schools, and physician groups; biotech, pharmaceutical, diagnostics and medical device companies; colleges and universities, and not-for-profit community service and cultural organizations with senior administrative recruiting assignments. With more than 100 search professionals nationwide, its consultants recruit CEOs, CFOs, COOs, CNOs, physician executives, and other leaders.

Recent Growth

WittKieffer recently expanded its interim and on-demand leadership solutions to the life sciences and investor-backed healthcare markets. Ysette Witteveen, a veteran interim and on-demand talent advisor and former management consultant, was named as managing partner & practice leader, interim leadership – life sciences and investor-backed healthcare.

“WittKieffer specializes exclusively in the quality of life ecosystem — the intersection of healthcare, life sciences, and education,” the search firm said. “It unlocks the full potential of leadership teams through an integrated approach to executive search, interim leadership, and leadership advisory solutions. WittKieffer’s expansion of interim leadership solutions ensures that these same integrated capabilities are available to the life sciences and investor-backed healthcare markets, including companies in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, consumer health and wellness, payer, provider, senior and long-term care, digital health, , and retail healthcare.”

“Impactful leadership is a critical contributor to value creation, and interim leadership is a strategic resource that can ensure a company’s access to the expert leadership necessary to meet critical needs at times when existing executive capacity or experience may not,” said Michael Castleman, WittKieffer’s chief business officer and executive partner for emerging markets and interim leadership. “Be it scaling up, evaluating and entering new markets, transforming business models or operations, establishing and implementing functional best practices, adding additional expertise, or creating entirely new digital solutions, life science and investor-backed healthcare organizations continually confront challenges to keep pace with business imperatives and market demands. We are extremely fortunate to have Ysette join WittKieffer to shepherd our expansion of interim and on-demand leadership solutions to help our clients address these challenges.”

Leadership advisory firm Egon Zehnder has placed serial entrepreneur and board member Dave Parker as the new CEO of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) in Alexandria, VA. His appointment follows a global, months-long search beginning last July with the selection of Egon Zehnder and led by a committee tasked by EO’s global board of directors. EO global board chair and EO Cincinnati member Lynn Anstett introduced Mr. Parker to members assembled at its annual global leadership conference in Singapore last month, where 1,800 members gathered for chapter officer training, inspiration, and connection.

“In Dave, we feel we have found an ideal blend of voice and vision to propel us forward toward 2030,” said Ms. Anstett. “His clear passion for entrepreneurship, coupled with his extensive experience and thought leadership around the founder’s journey, align well with our commitment to a clear strategic direction and operational excellence for the EO member community.”

“Dave’s diverse range of experiences on corporate boards particularly attracted us to him, given the annual shift that take place in EO’s all-member volunteer board,” said EO’s incoming global chair, Jamie Pujara, an EO member from Kenya preparing to serve his third and final year as a director of that body. “I am confident that all EO member leaders stepping up to serve this organization through global board membership will greatly benefit from his vast board experience and continuity in the role.”

Mr. Parker brings more than three decades of experience as both founder and board director for startups and learning organizations worldwide. As a five-time technology founder himself, he has sold three of his startups and closed two others in an entrepreneurial career spanning more than three decades. Among the enterprises he founded are Trajectory Media, OneAccord Partners, and License Online. Mr. Parker has also worked with under-represented founders as a venture capitalist with Fearless Fund, where he invested in Women of Color Founders across the U.S. He has previously served as a board member on dozens of corporate and non-profit boards since 2000, guiding organizations such as the Washington Technology Industry Association, Guidant Financial Group, Find Ventures, AudiencePoint, and Code Fellows.

As CEO, Mr. Parker will lead EO’s fully remote team of more than 160 full-time professional staff from 20 countries to serve the membership network’s nearly 19,000 members worldwide. He will oversee how the not-for-profit organization executes on its newly board-approved 2030 Strategic Direction, applying members’ dues to strengthen their connection, learning, and continued development as influencers and leaders.

“Working with EO feels like an extension of what I have been doing for the last 15 years—building startup communities—just on a much bigger stage,” said Mr. Parker. “I believe entrepreneurs have the power to change the world. We’re the crazy ones, or we wouldn’t take on the challenges required to start a new business and leave a legacy. It’s a great chance to work with an amazing community.”

The Entrepreneurs’ Organization is the world’s largest membership network exclusively by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs everywhere. Since 1987, EO has been supporting the world’s leading builders of business to realize more of their potential by fostering connection, applying leadership skills, and creating belonging across industries and borders.

CarterBaldwin Executive Search has recently assisted in the recruitment of Carl Moeller as new president of Langham Partnership USA. “Carl Moeller will be a marvelous addition to Langham Partnership,” Joel Carpenter, LPUSA board chair, said. “He will bring an extraordinary range of experience in international Christian work and a servant’s heart to this role. We are grateful for his eagerness to join our team.”

The ministry notes that Dr. Moeller has both a heart for and experience serving the global church that honors founder John Stott’s vision to raise the standard of biblical preaching around the world. He comes to Langham with decades of ministry experience and will succeed president Ben Homan, who will retire in December 2024 after more than 14 years of leading Langham.

Dr. Moeller’s involvement with the global church began in the 1980’s when he served in communist Eastern Europe. Later, he earned a master of divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a PhD from the University of Utah.

In 2003, Dr. Moeller was appointed president and CEO of Open Doors, a non-profit that engages with the persecuted church around the world. Across nine years, he helped grow the organization and raise its profile. Since then, Dr. Moeller has served as the CEO of Biblica as well as other non-profits and has pastored as an ordained minister of the Evangelical Free Church of America. For the past four years, he has led The Joshua Fund, which supports ministries in Israel and the Middle East.

“I am thrilled to embark on this journey,” Dr. Moeller said. “I look forward to witnessing the extraordinary ways in which God will work through us in the days ahead. I am honored to follow the outstanding leadership of Ben Homan and the legacy of John Stott. Together with the global team, we will embrace the future by God’s grace.”

The Search Process

After Mr. Homan privately informed the Langham board of his retirement plans more than a year ago, a committee of current and former Langham board members (and three current staff members) began the presidential search process, assisted by CarterBaldwin Executive Search.

“Our committee sought a heart for the global church as well as experience leading a team and being a collaborative member of an international partnership,” said John Rain, chair of the search committee. “Carl meets all of these criteria.”

“I am thrilled that Dr. Carl Moeller will build on Langham’s growth under Ben Homan’s leadership,” said Rev. Dr. Riad Kassis, international director for Langham Partnership. “We are excited about this appointment and confident that Dr. Moeller will help lead us into the next chapter of our journey for God’s glory.”

CarterBaldwin is an executive search firm that partners with corporate, non-profit, and academic clients to build leadership teams. They pride themselves on having an experienced staff, an unrivaled search process, and an exceptional client and candidate experience. The firm is listed among a variety of rankings published by Hunt Scanlon Media, including its Top 50, Private Equity Power 100, and Top 50 Higher Education Search Firms.
