Well after much deliberation, we finally found a worthy winner for our Topskips caption competition which featured our account managers Louise and Carla seemingly lifting up an 8 cu yd skip in mid-air. We received loads of entries, but we decided on a winner... Mark from Business Junction with the entry: "As Watch TV’s replacement for Richard & Judy Touch The Skip got down to the last two contestants, so did its television audience." Well done Mark! A bottle of champagne will be arriving in the post to you shortly.

Skips at a Southport Restaurant

We got a consignment of pasta in a skip we delivered to a southport restaurant today - it was ordered for a local football team end of season party and there was simply too much of it! The solution: wrapping it all up in plastic and putting it into a 2 yard mini skip to be delivered to the venue!

Personal trainer overloads skip with...trainers!

We get many bizarre things in our skips up and down the country - we've had original Star Wars helmets, human remains, coffins - you name it, it finds it's way into a skip somewhere. Yesterday we had an overloaded skip full of trainers from the house of a customer who is a personal trainer bramhall - apparently, this was part of her worn out collection of running footwear. She goes through a pair every two weeks, and needed to clear the load out of her shed!

Basketball and Skip Hire

If you haven't been following the blog recently, we're reporting on the desperate attempts of junior basketball team; the Withington Warriors to make the Winter Play-Offs. The TopSkips skip hire sponsored side needed to win 4 of 4 games in January and they'd got off to a good start, winning the first two. Here's the report of their 3rd match, written by Team Coach - James Quinn. 23rd Jan: Salford Vikings "Although they were out of contention for the play-offs themselves, the Vikings had proved themselves awkward customers, not least doing the ‘fouling out’ incident reported in September’s blog. Again the team faced a last minute injury blow with Tobias Emare and Elliott Quinn both forced to withdraw through illness. Despite this; the team, finding a consistency lacking in the earlier part of the season, was completely unfazed by the absences and with Andrew back in the side, the team brought home another three points. A win in the final league match would now guarantee Warriors fourth spot and the chance to join Amaechi All Stars, Wright Robinson Sports College and Alder All Stars in the Semi Finals." Final Score: Warriors 28 - Salford Vikings 18 Nail-biting stuff, tune in tomorrow to find out if the Warriors made it into the Winter Play-Offs.
