This enchanting rock memorial was built in the year 1970 in honour of Swami Vivekananda and ever since it has grown in popularity and importance. Enjoy a great time at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari and enjoy it’s amazing architecture and calm atmosphere that can really make your relaxed and rejuvenated.

2) Gandhi Memorial Visit
The Gandhi Memorial is another major attraction which is considered as a must to visit travel destination in Kanyakumari. The urn containing ashes remains of Mahatma Gandhi was kept here before being immersed and the memorial is built on that actual spot. Another major unique character of the Gandhi Memorial in Kanyakumari is that on every 2nd October, which is the birthday of Gandhiji, the sun’s rays falls on the exact place where the ashes were kept and this is mainly a classic characteristic of the design and architecture of this Memorial. The sunset viewting at Kanyakumari beach is the most perfect thing to experience at Kanyakumari. Kanyakumari is well known for the amazing sunset that can be watched at the beach and travelers gathering at the beach during the evening to watch the sunset are a regular view. The unique geographical characteristics make the beach and sunset more beautiful and this is one of the major reasons why all the travelers are attracted towards sunset viewing activities at Kanyakumari. So have a relaxed time and map the amazing view of the sunset into your mind.

Due to its unique landscape, Ladakh has a lot of travel destinations which are considered ideal for adventure activities such as river rafting, mountaineering and trekking. Mountain Climbing is another major adventure activity that makes Ladakh so famous.  Some of the major ares for mountain climbing in Ladakh include the Nun-Kun massif in the Great Himalayan Range, the Stok-Khangri massif in the Zanskar Mountains, south of Leh and the Karakoram Range which is to the north of Leh. The best time for mountain climbing activities in Ladakh is between May to Ocotber when the climate is pleasant and more ideal for adventure activities.

Another major adventure activity that can be undertaken in Ladakh is Trekking. The mountain slopes, the ancient monuments, monastic settlements etc all makes Ladakh a dream destination for adventure trekking activity. The most popular trekking activity in Ladakh is the one from Lamayuru in the Indus Valley to Darcha in Lahoul, across Zanskar Valley and this trek almost take 3 weeks to complete. There are also longer trekking versions such as the the 11-day Lamayuru – Padum traverse, 10-day Markha Valley trek and the 4/5-day Stok-Khangri round treks. The area between the Indus and Shayok valleys, are also considered as the best place for trekking. The best time for trekking in Ladakh is from June to October as most of the routes will not be in a good condition after that due to the extreme cold climate that prevails in Ladakh.

So if you are travelling to Ladakh, plan it for atleast 10-14 days so that you can cover some of the major adventure activities that can be done in Ladakh and make your trip to Ladakh a memorable one.

Kodaikanal hills are situated at an altitude of about 2,133 meter high and this hill station covers an area of approximately 21.45sq km. Kodaikanal is well known for its top class educational institutions which have earned international reputations. Kodaikanal is home to the ‘Kurinji-flower’, which blossoms once in 12 years and it is one of the rarest hill stations along with Munnar where one can see the Kurinji flower (Neelakurinji). Plums and the hill-plantain fruits in Kodaikanal are very famous and are known for their extra ordinary taste and freshness.

The Shenbaganur Museum, which is located about 5 Km from the Kodaikanal lake is another major attraction and place to visit in this hill station. The Shenbaganur Museum in Kodaikanal is maintained by the the Sacred Heart College maintains this museum and this place is home to some of the best orchidoriums in the country. Here you can see around more than 300 species of orchids and  a varied collections of amazing birds species.

If you want to enjoy the beauty of this hill stations in a much better and broader way, then it is recommended to have a visit to the Coaker’s Walk. The Coaker’s Walk is around 1 kilometre away from the lake and from here you can see some of the best views and sights of the plains. Also visit the Pillar rocks which is situated within the city limits and you will be getting a beautiful panoramic view of the nearby places.

For those planning to travel by air, the nearest airport to Kodaikanal is at Madurai which is around 120 kms away. The nearby railway station is also 64 kms away in Palani.  Once you get down over there, you can hire a taxi to reach Kodaikanal as there are a lot of taxi services operating to Kodaikanal from Madurai and Palani.  Once you reach Kodaikanal, you will not find any difficulty in getting a suitable accommodation as there are a wide range of budget, economy as well as luxury resorts and hotels with all the modern basic amenities and facilities.
