Setting up a wireless network is generally very easy and it is becoming more and more commonplace to do this in your home or small office. The great thing about wireless networking is the fact you can add wireless functionality to your existing network.

If you intend to use wireless networking it is advisable to have windows XP service pack 2 as a minimum. Whilst this is not absolutely essential it can make things much easier when connecting to wireless networks and also a few security issues have been fixed with this service pack

The first stage to setting up a wireless network is to obtain the correct equipment. There are several different options, depending on your current setup. If you currently use a cable based provided then you just need a broadband router, however, if you currently use the more common ADSL style broadband suppliers (common here in the UK) then you will need to ensure you purchase the router with the ADSL modem built in. The router will now connect to the Internet for you and allow other devices to connect to it wirelessly. If you were previously used to having to go to a dial up connection - you now no longer need to do this as as soon as your computer connects to the router - you will automatically be connected to the Internet.

To connect your wireless router should be straight forward enough. If you use the CD that comes with the router it will quickly guide you through the setup. The basics are to plug your existing modem into the router if you are on a cable system, or disconnected your previous broadband modem and input your settings into the new router. You should have indicator lights advising you of the routers status. These vary from router to router so refer to your instructions provided.

As previously mentioned, the CD that comes with the router is often the best way to quickly create a secure active wireless network. However, if you are like me, you may want to explore the settings of the router to configure it yourself. Here are some common terms you may come up againt.

- SSID - this is your networks name. Choose something unique, as generally it will come up with the manufacturer of the router name. When you try and search for the router with your computer you will want to identify which name represents you own router.

- WEP or WPA is the type of security encryption to prevent other people accessing your Internet connection. WPA will generally allow you to use a memorable word to user a password whilst WEP is more a randomly generated bunch of numbers and letter.

- Administrator Password - this is just the password to actually access the administration of your router. Unless someone has already got a connection to your router they will be unable to change settings. If you do use a password here, make sure it is something memorable as it is quite possible that you will not have to access the admin, once setup, for a very long time.

Now your router is all set up we need to understand how to connect a computer to the network. This is very easy to do. If you have wireless technology built into your computer then ensure it is switched on. If you haven't, insert your wireless device into the relevant port.

You should have a wireless icon in the bottom left hand corner by the clock. Right click here and search for wireless networks in range.

In the box that comes up you should see a list of the networks in your area that your computer has detected. Being wireless technology is so popular these days it is common to see several different routers in here from neighbours.

Within this list you should see the name that you previously inputted as you SSID. Double click this. You should now be prompted for either your WEP or WPA key - enter this.

You should now be connected. Go ahead and load your preferred Internet browser. You should be able to surf to any given page. - Congratulations - You have successfully configured your wireless network!

JBO Solutions supplies the UK with Computer Parts, Computer Components and accessories such as Computer Monitors

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Olly_Fallon

10 Computer Maintenance Tips

10 Computer Maintenance Tips

By Freddie Stewart

Below are some tips you should know when using your computer:

Never EVER switch off your computer without waiting for Windows to shut it down. This may cause permanent hard drive defects caused by the hard drive heads contacting the surface of the disc drive and cause a host of Windows problems.

The only time you can force a shutdown is if your hard drive "hangs" or refuses to respond. In this case, try pressing ALT+CTRL+DEL keys at the same time and wait for task manager to launch. The Task Manager window will have a tab you can press to enable you to shutdown normally. If Task Manager fails to launch, then you can safely switch off your computer and switch it on again after about 3 minutes. Perform emergency shutdown only when absolutely necessary.

Plug your computer into a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). This will prevent power surges in cases of low and high voltage occurrences. A UPS will protect your computer from any type of power disaster.

Backup important files as soon as you can. Purchase a CD burner to store files (make at least 2 copies of the same files on CD). Don't wait until the next day if you can help it. A crash may occur any time.

Use Scandisk and Defragmenter at least once a month. Just like you need to have a check up once in a while to catch any disease that may be forming, your computer also needs to be checked up to keep it healthy and crash-free.

Do not unplug peripherals while they are powered up. Doing so may damage your motherboard.

Keep at least 100 MB of your C: free for Windows to use. Maxing out your drive may result in Windows dumping data to your hard drive, or your computer will run really, really slow.

Do not let a lot of programs load when starting up your computer. Uninstall or delete programs that start up as soon as you start up your computer.

Use an antivirus program. You really need one if you want your computer to keep running smoothly. Downloaded attachments from friends, installed programs downloaded from the net and a host of other ways could infect your computer. An antivirus program will make sure no "bad" stuff is allowed into the system.

Use a firewall if you have a high speed internet connection. A firewall will prevent your computer from getting "hijacked". You may not be aware of it, but your computer may have been hacked at least once. Hackers use search programs to seek out computers at random. Get a firewall program and use it.

Do not throw away installer software once you've installed the program. You will need to reformat your computer some time and all data on the drive will be erased and you will need to reinstall your software.

F Stewart is an IT Professional. Adams

But who wants to sit in their home office on a desktop computer or sit at a notebook computer to do this? "Not I, said the cat." Listening through cheap computer speakers and watching video on a computer monitor is not my idea of real entertainment; how about you?

Why not connect your computer's audio and video to your home entertainment system? You can watch TV shows, movies, and videos on your HDTV or any other TV with appropriate inputs. You can listen to music through your home stereo if it has AUX, VIDEO, or any other input using a standard RCA connection.

Connecting Computer Video to Your TV:

To connect the video, your computer must have an output for which your TV has a matching input.

Virtually every computer comes with a VGA output of some kind. The plug for this looks almost rectangular (you can see one by locating where you computer monitor connects to the back end of your desktop computer).

Another video output connection many computers may have is S-Video. This is a round connection. S-Video plugs have 4 tiny round holes (2 on each side) and a tiny rectangular hole in the bottom. S-Video cables have a round end with 4 tiny metal prongs and a tiny rectangular piece of plastic at the bottom.

However, many televisions do not have VGA inputs and only some have S-Video inputs. If yours doesn't, you'll need to make sure it at least has an RCA video input (this is a very standard connection which is used to connect record players, VCRs and CD players to other devices). If your TV came out since the early to mid 1990s it most likely has a standard RCA video input.

If your TV does have an RCA video input, simply buy a VGA to TV Converter. This will connect to your computer's VGA output and provide RCA and S-Video connections (which are standard inputs found on most TVs since the 1990s).

Make sure you have the proper cables for your TV. Depending on which type of input your TV uses, you'll need an RCA cable, an S-Video cable or a VGA cable.

Connecting Computer Sound to Your TV, Stereo or Home Theater System:

Now that the hard part is out of the way, the sound is easy. Simply buy a Y-cord. It should contain a stereo male 1/8" on one end and two RCA males on the other end. Just ask your local electronics store; this is a standard cable they will all most-likely carry in-stock.

Connect the stereo 1/8" male end to the green jack on your computer (usually on the back of desktop computers and on the front or side of notebook computers) where your speakers would normally connect.

Alternatively, you may connect the 1/8" to the headphone jack on your computer. (Note: any device with a headphone jack can connect to your home theater, such as an iPod using this same cord!)

Connect the two RCA males to the L and R input jacks on your TV, Home Theater or Stereo. And you're done! Just make sure to select the right setting (AUX, VIDEO, etc.) on your stereo or receiver.

Enjoy online content in all the glory you've enjoyed content from TV, DVD, CD, and the radio! There's already tons of online content available on major broadcasting sites, and there will be more as the future moves forward.

If you don't have a DVD player but there is a DVD drive on your computer, this setup will turn your computer into a DVD player! Once connected, call the store from whom you bought your computer and ask how to play a DVD on the computer.

The author would like you to visit CISSP, ISO/IEC 27001, DoD 8570, Information Security Training, Philadelphia Center and Register: CISSP & ISO/IEC 2700 Training: Philadelphia, New Jersey, Washington DC

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Gabriel_J._Adams

How to Detect And Remove Spyware

How to Detect And Remove Spyware

By Alexandre Frings

People are often unaware about what the spyware, trojans, adware, or a malware can do. They do not know those dangerous objects can affect their computer or even their personal data. If you are searching for the information about "how to detect and remove spyware", you have probably understood how harmful and risky this nasty objects are.

If your computer is injected with these objects, you might be experiencing:

* Slow computer
your computer will gradually slow down as days go by as the spyware or other objects have drained all of your memory space.

* Frequent Computer crashes
Do you see that error window appear suddenly without knowing what actually happens, you can not open particular program, or the program you are currently running shuts down suddenly?

* SPAM E-mail
have you wondered why are there so many unknown email enter your inbox even though you know you never submit your email to any program on the internet? The easy answer is you are being spied and your personal information are stolen

* Credit card and Bank Information hijacking
This is the most dangerous and has happened often, if you are doing transaction using your bank account or credit card, you have to be careful

* Trivial matters like new unknown icon or tool bar appearing or porn-ads keep appearing on a new window of your browser but you cannot stop it (nasty pop-ups).

If that happens to you, there is an almost 100% chance that your computer is infected. Spyware, trojans, and malware come from a bad download, file sharing, malicious web sites, or email attachments . Even if you have Anti-Virus software, it will not help if they are powerful enough to pass the Anti-virus guard. Anti-virus can not detect and remove spyware from your computer completely.

How to Run my computer safely?

First is to detect and remove spyware. Detect them by using a free scan first to determine whether your computer is actually infected, go to Spyware Free Scan to see if your computer is infected. Remove the spyware, after running the free scan you can remove it for free if it is not too strong, if it is too strong you will have to pay for the premium service to remove them.

Second is to run the spyware protection program regularly. This is the best way to do because you are not only going to detect and remove spyware but you are protecting your computer whenever they try to enter your system. With the program installed on your computer, you will never have to worry about those dangerous objects again because your computer are protected every time. Spyware will be blocked and you will be given warning if the files you are about to download are dangerous. However, one web design bad habit that persists is the JavaScript Dynamic Navigation. This is bad news for both web users and those looking to commission a web designer to build a site for them. Ultimately if your navigation is broken, so is your site.

The seven top reasons why you should not use JavaScript Dynamic Navigation are:

Site navigation is difficult when navigation is not permanently displayed.

Everyone likes to know where they are going and even where they are! A site with a permanently visible navigation structure meets both of these requirements, but popup or dynamic navigation systems do not. Remembering that Google and the other search engines are as likely to deliver a visitor to a subpage as they are to your home page, a clear navigation structure is essential. Think of it as they "You are here" icon in your local shopping mall's map.

Embedded elements can clash with dynamic navigation

A typical dynamic navigation structure will result in an overlay or pop up/down display. The challenge here is that if your site is media rich (ie contains flash animation or embedded video) these embedded elements will take precedence on the page. The end result is that part of your navigation will be hidden behind these elements making site navigation difficult if not impossible.

Cross browser/platform compatibility issues

As any developer will tell you, since the dawn of the internet, not all browsers are created equal. Some applications will follow a stricter implication of JavaScript than others. The only way to combat this issue is through vigorous testing - something that takes time and money. When you consider how quickly some browsers release code updates you have to be prepared to be in constant test and verification mode.

Usability issues- Dynamic Navigation is not for everyone

Just like menus in Windows or OSX, dynamic navigation structures require good hand/eye co-ordination. Not everyone will be as fast or as accurate as you are when it comes to using a mouse and nested dynamic navigation can be particularly hard to use. Usability studies with elderly users or those new to computers and the internet shows that such nested menus quickly cause frustration and are far from easy to use. Operating systems have addressed this issue by allowing a user to navigate using their arrow keys as well as a mouse but this is a complicated and difficult task to accomplish in JavaScript.

The Experts don't do it

Go and visit your favourite site and then all the big internet names such as Google, Amazon, YouTube, BBC, MSN, Yahoo!, MySpace, eBay, Wikipedia, Craigslist, IMDB, etc, etc. There is a reason that you don't see these sites using dynamic navigation and that's because there are better ways. Any coaching or strategy expert will tell you the secret to success is to model those who are already successful. So if th336e experts don't use dynamic navigation why would you?

You have plenty of other options

One advantage of a dynamic JavaScript navigation structure is that everything is contained in a single script file. Changing any aspect of the whole site's navigation can be achieved by modifying this one file. However, this benefit is not unique to JavaScript. An external xml navigation structure or a range of server-side scripting processes can achieve the same effect and all are capable of outputting standard XHTML without any of the drawbacks listed in this article.

Your site will be broken if JavaScript is turned off!

With increased security awareness and the constant screen invasion by pop-ups many users restrict or even turn off JavaScript settings in their browsers. While this activity is designed to stop the JavaScript based popups, squeeze pages and floating ads, it will render your site inoperable. Statistics from W3Schools show that 10% of the visitors to your site will have JavaScript disabled. As there are plenty of better alternatives to a dynamic JavaScript navigation structure why even risk alienating 10% of your site visitors?

© 2006 Prominent Media Ltd

How to create photo gallery website

How to create photo gallery website

by Mike Toh

How to create photo gallery website using Adobe Photoshop.

1. This is the only software you will need to begin learning html.

A quick explanation of tags

Due to this article being hosted online I cant actual show you a tag as the webpage you are reading would make it invisible Tags begin with a "<" symbol and end with a ">" symbol. For the purpose of this artical I will replace these with the "[" and "]" symbols. Remember to always use the arrows though as the square brackets WILL NOT WORK.

A tag is a piece of html code used for formatting. You wont need to know much about them for now (they will be covered in another article), for now you just need to know that to add a tag you write

"[tagname] insert what you want formatted here[/tagname]"

The "[/tagname]" part stops all following text/other content from being formatted in the same way.

This, as I said, isnt very important for now.

What comes first?...

Well you cant get much more to the point than that. "
" comes first. Every html document starts with it and ends with the tag "
".

Easy right? so what we have so far is a text document that reads;

Now save your document as "index.html" and open it up in a browser. A large blank white page appears.

Now lets fill in that blank space...

Everything that makes up your webpage goes inbetween the "

" tags. But the actual text or content goes between two other tags, "[body][/body]". Notice how tags must have a beginning and an end, the end is shown by the / character. Type this new tag into your text document...
[body]Put your message here[/body]
Now type in a message in between the "[body]" tags. It can be whatever you want. Any message you can think of. It should be placed to replace "Put your message here" in the example above.

Save to index.html again like before and open it in your browser. You should now see a white screen with your message displayed in the top left corner.

What to do next...

If you like you can now upload this file to a webhost, many free ones are available if you search the internet. An then you will have a website for yourself... Well... not really. Its just one page after-all. We will cover how to add more pages and better content to your website in another artical. For now, play around with this and be proud that you are on your way to learning html.

How To Know What To Pay For Web Design

How To Know What To Pay For Web Design

How do you know what to pay for web design? Do you go strictly on what you can afford or what you need? Web design is the creative presentation similar to the printed brochure, but that is where the similarity stops. Unlike a printed brochure, your web site is interactive. It is seen by millions of people. It is not limited to the hundred or even thousand that your sales people send and use as a leave behind after an in-person sales presentation. People visiting your website can respond instantly in ways other than a telephone call. Visitors can buy your products and services immediately. These are just a few of the differences.

Most people know about these differences. But when deciding what to pay for your website, these differences make a good yardstick. Another consideration is to weigh the outcome you want from your website.

1. Use your company brochure as a yardstick.

Let's not make this comparison using an investment in the popular tri-fold brochure. That's like comparing apples to oranges to use a tired old cliche. No, let's use your company's capabilities brochure. Say you ordered copywriting, graphic design and printing for a full-size 8 1/2 x 11 inch, 4-color brochure, 8 pages with a 4-page cover that weighs a bit more than the interior pages. This is a typical format. What do you suppose the cost is for your new capabilities brochure. $500? $800? $1200? If you own a capabilities brochure such as the one I just described, you know that the copy probably ran from $400-$800; graphic design $400 - $800; and 4-color printing and bindery $800 - $1200. Your total cost is from $1600 - $2800 and you haven't distributed one brochure to a potential buyer. Also, you have not factored in in the envelope cost, cover letter cost, enclosed business card cost, and postage. Yikes! It is starting to be clear just what a printed brochure can cost. Now, ponder on the redo costs if you need to make any changes to the copy, such as your telephone number, address, new products. It is a big bite out of the old apple, isn't it. You are going to need a complete redo and reprint. Ouch!

The investment in a website looks pretty good right now, doesn't it?

2. Now, let's look at the outcome you want from your website.

Sales! Most businesses have a website to support sales. Directly or indirectly. A standard brochure web design and development investment less than $2800 is going to have a higher outcome than that capabilities brochure. There's no doubt about it. But if you want to enable your web site to accept payment online, you're going to need a shopping cart. What about a way for people to signup for your mailing list. Do you want to add a newsletter to your site. Articles? Blog? RSS feed? Forum? Chat? Photo gallery?

These web enhancements turn your site into a unique landing place that people want to visit and buy from. Security features add credibility to further show visitors your business is real and can be trusted.

All these enhancements support your overall outcome to build sales revenue using the web as a new business channel. If that's your planned outcome, spare no expense to create the web site you need to deliver results: Your full-featured web site - loaded with special enhancements - suited for your particular business pay for itself ... easily. It is an investment, not a cost like your printed brochure.

When deciding on the funding you want to earmark for your website, keep in mind that it is a valuable business asset and profit center. Custom web design is an investment in future sales.

So how do you know what to pay for web design? Compare the investment to what you would pay for a capabilities brochure and then weigh the final outcome you want your web site to produce.

By: Alexandria Marx -

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Alexandria Marx has 20 yrs direct marketing copywriting, web design and Internet marketing. Every day more and more people join the ranks of bloggers. The number of blogs also increases each day. Most people are not using their blogs as efficiently as they could when it comes to profiting from them. Sadly most of the persons are oblivious to the income potential that their blogs have. If your blog is one that gets many visitors each day because you offer content that is entertaining as well and informative and current then you have the potential to increase its power and make your blog a great source of additional revenue.
Your blog must be unique among the countless other blogs out there. This will help you blog rise above others in the search engines. Avoid the weird, and strange topics, that will not help, in fact it has the opposite effect. Instead, write about topics that are relatable and have a good balance between narrowness of focus and generic sense of thought. This will attract more visitors and return visitors.
After you've finished preparing your blog, you need to start finding paying advertisers. Adsense, an advertising program backed by Google, is a terrific place ot start. Adsense has a very strong reputation, so you know that you're getting the best possible value for each click.
The biggest part of your job is still to come. This is getting viewers to your blog. Start with your list of friends, but do not stop there. Look for opportunities to exchange links with other blogs and to make yours as popular as possible. Link your blog to your home page and encourage others to do the same. Look for sites specializing in exchanging links. This can be mutually profitable for all parties.
Search for chances to feature affiliate banner advertisements on your blog. A mass of unrelated ads will make your site appear chaotic and unprofessional, but well-placed ads for related products will make your blog seem more focused and put-together.
For many, blogging is nothing more than a hobby, a way to pass time and certainly not an income source. But this need not be the case if you used the four steps we have given to you, you can turn your attention to detail and enthusiasm into cash flow.

By: Sean Milea

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

You can get a free copy of our latest ebook by clicking here: The 7 Keys To Business Marketing Success. I mean, blogging was once used for personal views and stuff and probably still is. But, there are many people out there on covering the real value of a blog.

I know people right now that are really making a good income from just using blogs alone to run their business. The thing with blogging is that is completely free to do. When you use blogs you will never have to invest a single dollar into your online business at all.

Today, I would like to show you some ways on how you can make money from your blog. There are about 4 good methods that most people are using to make profits. Here are the 4 ways to make money:

1. Google Adsense

In my opinion, this is the easiest way to make money from your blog. Google adsense are Google ads that you see on the side bar whenever you type in a keyword through the search bar. You can actually take these ads and place them on your blog. Whenever someone clicks on one to the ads you have placed on your blog, you will get paid. It is very easy to set up and add to a blog.

2. Get Your Readers to Donate

When you take the time to offer your readers the information they are looking for, you can set up a donation button. This basically works out of respect to you. People will donate according to how well you have presented your information. People can donate however much they want.

3. Selling Advertising Space

When you get your blog ranked well in the search engines for good keywords you can sell advertising space on your blog. As long as you can prove to the people that your site is receiving a large amount of traffic then you can sell off space for people to put their ads for however much you set the price to.

4. Affiliate Products

You can sell some affiliate product on your blog. Product that relate to your blog is the best way to go because who will by a weight loss product on a dog training site. You know what I mean? Many people are tapping into the power that blogs have and are starting to make their own. The thing is though that many bloggers that are beginners tend to fail because they stop blogging out of frustration of not getting it right the first time. Blogging is an easy thing to do, but it is actually getting your blog to convert which is the hardest.

Today, I would like to go over some things that can help you out with the conversion of your blog, so you can make more money from it.

1. Content of Blog

You must have fresh unique content coming to your blog everyday. You pretty much want all unique content as you are trying to out beat other websites. A blog should only be about one topic and one topic only so you won’t confuse your reader as to what your point is.

You can be opinionated in your blog and you can write your posts as if you are having a conversation with your visitors. Getting on a one on one with your visitors will make them want to read more about your content.

2. Design of the Blog

Now, your blog does not have to look fancy or anything, but it is good to make it look clean and organized. Some people think that your blog has to stand out from others. In my opinion I have some blogs that look like other people’s blogs, but my content is much more informative then theirs.

A blog design should be easy to read and easy to navigate through. Blogger has many different templates you can choose to get your blog designed in a nice manner.

3. Traffic

Now, in order for people to even know that your blog exists, you must send traffic to it. There are people out there that have the nicest blogs that are very useful to read. But, they never end up sending traffic to it thinking that posting is enough. It is not; in fact you must send traffic to it daily at first to get the search engines to rank you. Once you get ranked in the search engines then you can slow down with manually sending traffic to it.

So, there are the top 3 things you should keep in mind when blogging. Although it may seem to be frustrating at first, you will eventually understand it.

By: ashley mcallister

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

For more information check out my: Blogging to the bank Review. But where's your traffic? Getting traffic to your blog is easy: you must promote your blog, and you must promote consistently. One of the easiest and best blog promotional methods is article marketing.

If you've never heard of "article marketing" this is just a form of promotion in which you write articles, and post them to article directories. Not only do you get traffic to your blog when people read your articles, you also acquire backlinks. Links to your blog are essential, because they help with your search engine optimization (SEO).

Let's look at three tips which will help you with your article marketing.

1. Be consistent, set a schedule of articles to write and to post to article directories

All marketing methods require consistency. You have to keep doing it. Sending one single article to an article directory helps your traffic. Creating more articles and posting them, brings you more traffic. The more articles you write, the more traffic you'll get.

You'll get the best results when you set a schedule for yourself of writing and posting articles. Your schedule will depend on the amount of time you have available - it's important to keep adding content to your blog so that when your visitors arrive, they have great content to read.

You could schedule one article posted to directories per week, or even one posted per day, to really boost your traffic.

Be patient as you wait for results. There's only one marketing method which gives you immediate traffic, and that's paid advertising. However, this is expensive, and once you stop advertising, the traffic stops. With article marketing, the traffic doesn't stop - your article stay online, and keep sending you traffic.

2. Use a keyword tool to find high traffic keywords to include in your articles

Your blog's visitors will find you via the search engines, so it's important to include keywords in your articles. Keywords are those words which people type into a search engine query box to find you.

There are many keyword tools online, both free and paid. For your purposes, the free keyword tools give you sufficient information to find out which keywords you should include.

Remember that keywords are useless on their own. Your articles should be quality: when you provide good content, you'll draw traffic. You want your blog's visitors to visit and subscribe to your RSS feed.

3. Article marketing is cumulative, so you'll see the most results over time

Your results with article marketing will vary - you may get an immediate rush of traffic, or you may not. However, over time you will get a steady increase in traffic, depending on how many articles you post.

Think of your article marketing traffic as a snowball, rolling downhill, and getting bigger as it rolls. As you write and post more articles to the directories, your presence will grow - your snowball will get bigger and bigger.

So there you have three tips to help you to get traffic to your blog via article marketing. All three tips are important. Enjoy the traffic which article marketing brings you.

By:

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Discover the secrets to making money blogging with Angela Booth's blogging bestseller, "Blogging for Dollars". However, gaining a regular readership can be a challenge.

You knew there had to be a catch, right?

Here are three reasons your blog struggles to acquire an audience:

* Your blog is new (any blog less than 12 months old is by definition "new")

* You're not promoting your blog

* You're not writing the content readers want

OK, so that's the situation.

Now let's look at five easy ways you can remedy that and get readers.

1. Write articles for the article directories

There are hundreds of article directories online. These directories exist for a simple reason - the articles they publish are free advertising for the writers of those articles.

Advertising is the easiest way to get traffic to your blog.

Advertising is expensive. But it works. However the big problem with advertising is that when you stop advertising, your traffic stops. Articles however, stay online forever - so an article you wrote three years ago is still providing (free) advertising for you today.

Begin a program of writing articles to promote your blog. The more you write, the more traffic your blog will get.

2. Become active on forums related to your blog's topic

This tactic is super-easy, and fun too. However, remember that on a forum, you're not allowed to blatantly promote your blog. Use the signature line in your forum messages to provide a link to your blog - don't advertise it in any other way.

Over time as you become a trusted member of the forum, forum members will visit your blog.

3. Offer to guest-blog on established blogs

This solution works because all bloggers are looking for fresh content, and creating that content takes time. Offer to guest-blog on an established blog in your topic. You'll usually get an acceptance, and you can get an easy link to your own blog, and new readers.

4. Create a newsletter for your blog

Treat your blog as a business, which is what it is, if you hope to make money blogging.

As a business, you exist to serve customers. Your readers are your customers. Create a newsletter for your readers to keep them coming back to your blog.

Since your blog has an RSS feed, there are tools online which will turn your RSS feed into a newsletter automatically, without any effort on your part.

5. Pay attention to keywords in your blog's topic

Over time, you'll get the most traffic to your blog directly from the Web search engines, like Google. On my established blogs, 90 per cent of the traffic comes from the search engines.

So how does that traffic arrive? It arrives because people type keywords into the search query field in one of the search engines.

Since the Web search engines are essentially indexing software, they index your blog's content. If your content contains the keywords typed in by searchers, your blog's posts will appear in the search query results and you'll get traffic.

So use the keywords which searchers use in your blog posts.

There are many keyword tools online which will help you to find good hight-traffic keywords.

So there you have it - five easy ways to get traffic for your blog. Happy blogging!

By:

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Discover the secrets to making money blogging with Angela Booth's blogging bestseller, "Blogging for Dollars". It will help your business grow, helping you to reach many other businesses and customers that may not know that you currently service their needs. Professional web design is important for any company that wants to keep ahead of their competition.

Three main keys to a professional web design are: Multiple-browser usability, minimized load times with the use of valid CSS, and valid HTML code that will not cause frustrated visitors to leave your website due to loading errors or prolonged load times.

Professional Web Design is your first necessary step towards Internet market and is essential for making an impactful first impression on those who visit your site.

Professional web design should be done by web design professionals. To put it simply, what separates professional web design from web design is whether or not a designer or web design company takes into consideration the above items when designing and building a website. Usually, a web designer or web design company claims to offer professional web design services for their clients. However, should they be promoting “web design services” rather than “professional web design services”.

Whether you are trying to establish yourself as an online presence or acquire more clientèle, professional web design has become crucial. Successful, efficient, professional web design is not easily accomplished, though. And, you must be careful about selecting a designer because poor web design will give visitors a poor opinion of your company and your products. Forrester Research estimates that poor web design will result in the loss of 50 percent of potential repeat visits, due to an initial negative experience. A professional web designer will talk with you about your business, your customers, and your expectations, before even talking about the design of a new website. Another source of poor web design is often derived from an internal employee. Blatant unprofessional web design shows a lack of professionalism, thoroughness and thoughtfulness in general. More often than not, poor web design is complemented by spelling mistakes, which makes it even easier to spot businesses that you wouldn't want to deal with. Poor web design is one of the leading causes of small business failure. One of the most glaring examples of poor Web design is single-browser compatibility. There are literally thousands of home-based Internet businesses struggling to make a living online Poor web design is one of the leading causes of small business failure. However to end on a more positive note, although poor web design will almost guarantee you anonymity on the search engines, good web design will ensure that you have the best possible chance against your competitors.

In short, when selecting a web designer, be sure you're getting the quality that your company and your brand deserve.

writen by Micah Eide

By: brad12

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

web design Lancashire-web site design Manchester-web design manchester.

Web Design Secret – Getting Started Is The Hardest Part

Web Design Secret – Getting Started Is The Hardest Part

Do you realize thousands of new Websites are added to the incredibly vast catalogue of cyberspace every month? That’s really amazing, especially when you consider this could literally go on forever and the Web would never get “filled up”.

The Web really is an unlimited opportunity for growth and expansion, whether your aims are business, charitable, or personal.

However, quite sadly, I believe for every Website that does go live, there are many hundred other people who “want to” launch their site but just can’t find the confidence to do so.

Many people will tell me they “just don’t have the time” or they “can’t afford it right now” but the truth is these are just excuses in almost every case. Basic psychology suggests that we tend to put off, avoid, or make excuses for not doing those things we are afraid of for one reason or another.

The truth is most potential Website owners are simply intimidated by what they believe will be an ultra-technical process. And the great news here is that building a fabulous Website is not an overly technical process!

One really doesn’t need to become an expert in Web languages, domain and hosting management, or anything else to have a highly effective Web presence up and running within just a matter of days. As somebody who owned a profitable Web development company I will go as far as to say that you only need a basic grasp of about 10% of the overall body of knowledge in the Web design field to achieve great success.

This means for every 100 techniques you really only need around ten to do a great job on your own Website. How’s that for a shift in perspective?

You don’t need to know how to build fancy graphics.

You don’t need to understand complicated database functions.

You don’t need to worry about learning any programming languages.

(Seriously you need ZERO knowledge of Web programming)

You don’t have to spend a ton of money on software.

You don’t even need to spend a lot of time learning the basics. If you have been able to read this article without a struggle you should be able to learn the basics of quality Web design in only a few hours of study.

The most important part of your Website project is this: You must get started right away!

The biggest difference in folks who have their site online and working around the clock for them and people who never enjoy this benefit is so simple:

Those who have a Website took the first step and moved forward from there. And these people found that once they took action, even just a little bit of it, the rest of the process unfolded in front of them almost like magic.

I’m not going to tell you there isn’t some work and study involved. But it’s nowhere near as hard to understand and implement as you might think it is.

So don’t delay even one more day. Decide right now to start spending at least some time each day learning the basics and you could easily have your first site online in one week or less.

By:

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Tim Whiston is a professional entrepreneur who enjoys helping other entrepreneurs achieve success. Business is now flourishing even over the web. All the businesses are now realizing that they should have an online presence besides their physical existence. And thus the importance & needs for the efficient and professional web designers are increasing day by day.

To start the design for the websites you must keep some important things. The first thing that you should always keep in mind that web design differs from print design. So, you must plan on WHAT TO INCLUDE and WHAT NOT TO INCLUDE on your website.

So how do you build up a great website that sells? Let’s find it out.

The Foundation

Before building a house, it is necessary to build a proper foundation. Likewise, before designing a website you should keep in mind these basic things.

a) Remember that you are designing your site for the impatient online reader. They do not have the patience to read the whole contents. Instead they scan through .So you should learn to apply features and techniques that catch the attention of the viewers.
b) Uniformity is also important, while designing a web site. You should use features to which people are accustomed.
c) The web site should be user friendly. It should use web-optimized graphics.

The Superstructure

Now we move on to the super structure that is the house itself or the website concerned. Just remember these tips and go on to create a great website.

a) The web site should load quickly and be easy to scan. These are the essential prerequisites of web designing.

b) While designing a web site, you should keep in mind the needs of the potential customers. People visit the web site with a specific purpose, to get a solution to their problems. So you should focus on providing people with the specific information. You should also ensure that no information is more than a few click away.

c) The graphics should be so styled as to fit the content and not vice-versa. Often web designers complain that the content is not suitable to the web design. But you should remember that it is also important for people to read the content. The content provides information about the services and products. So attention must not be diverted from the content at any cost.

d) You should choose a font style and color that can be easily read. Frequent use of bold fonts makes the page difficult to read. The background color should also be kept light. Otherwise the viewers will have difficulty in viewing the pages.

e) You should use customized graphics to make your website attractive. But the graphics should not divert the attention of the readers from the content. The graphics should serve as an appendage to the content, which should be the primary focus.

f) Blinking images are to be avoided. They distract the attention of the readers from the content. Some viewers also consider them to be a nuisance and cover up these flashing images in order to concentrate on the content.

g) Avoid broken links. Make sure that they do not occur on your website. Concentrate on the link architecture.

h) Use contrasting elements on your web site. Placing contrasting elements side by side will easily attract the attention of the visitors. It is in fact one of the basic elements of web designing.

i) You should remember that the content should be aesthetically pleasing. Yet it should have powerful functionality at the same time. The website should be capable of giving out the relevant information in the least possible time. That is what readers are most interested in.

j) Don’t concentrate all your attention on attractive graphics. Give an equal focus on page layout, error handling and structure.

k) Don’t repeat your titles and page headings. Page headings are instrumental in focusing viewer’s attention. Using the same headings will make them think that the information being provided is the same. This will decrease viewer retention.

l) You should make sure that the content and the page headings are grammatically correct. Incorrect grammar and syntax will reflect badly on the web site.

m) Lay stress on the keywords. Use of keywords help viewer’s to ascertain whether the site is important to them or not. Most visitors flick through a website. So infrequent use of keywords will make visitors skip over a web site, even though it might contain relevant information. Here the needs of Web design with proper searcj engine optimization (SEO) grows up and up.

n) Pay attention to your homepage. That is what the viewers will first see. The home page should be attractive and provide useful information. If it doesn’t satisfy the mentioned criteria then the readers will move on.

You must remember that the primary aim of web designing services is to focus on visitor’s needs. Design your web site in such a way as to direct the eye towards the important features. The less important ones should recede into the background. Web page designing is extremely challenging. Viewers take only a fraction of a second to decide whether a particular site will be useful to them or not. So you should hit the nail on the head immediately. The web site should be attractive, easy to read and easy to navigate. Adhering to the above guidelines will help you to build up a website that sells.

Design a web site means you must make a convincing presentation. You should not include too many graphics, pop-ups, and flashing gifs in your web design. These take a lot of time to load. Your website should be easy to navigate. You must remember that the attention span of the average viewer is very low. You have to grab the attention of the viewer immediately otherwise they will wander to other sites.

By: Abir Roychowdhuri

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Abir Roychowdhury is a professional Internet marketer. These days, people expect a website to be frequently updated with fresh content, and also interactive in some way.

In other words, people have higher expectations for websites these days. So when they encounter a static site with outdated content, or a site that doesn't allow them to do anything, they will quickly move on.

On the other hand, people will be more inclined to stay on your website if you let them interact in some way. This can help increase your website conversion rates. After all, the longer a person is on your site, the more likely they will be to take some form of action (asking a question, subscribing to a newsletter, emailing a question, etc.).

You can increase interactivity in a number of ways. And these days, there are all kinds of software products to make it extremely easy for you! Here are a few examples of interactivity you could build into your website:

How to Increase Your Site's Interactivity

* Publish a blog and allow readers to comment on it. Don't just allow it ... encourage it.

* Educate your blog reader's about the blog's RSS feed, how they can use it, what the value is, etc.

* Use an "RSS-to-email" program like Zookoda so your blog readers can subscribe to the RSS feed by way of an email address.

* If you have the audience and the web traffic for it, launch a Q&A discussion forum on your website. You install a program like VBulletin or phpBB to do most of the work.

* If you have customer service folks, put a chat feature on your website so visitors can "click to chat" with customer service. This can be a great way to at least capture a name, email address or phone number before people leave.

* Similarly, you can create an FAQ / Knowledge Base section of your website where visitors can submit their questions (and read previous Q&A with your staff).

Remember, when people are able to interact with your website in some way, they will be much more likely to stay on the site longer. And the longer they stick around, the more likely they will be to take the action you want them to take.

By: Brandon R. By following a set of steps you will see the site evolve from a simple idea, to a fully functional presence on the web.

Website Concept

Visualize the reason for making a website. When coming up with the concept, you will determine who your target audience is, the theme of your site and the method in which you intend to deliver information.

Website organization

This is the step where you determine what your page is going to look like. After figuring out the look, you will need to determine how people are going to navigate through your sight without getting lost. Once these two tasks have been completed, the method of delivering your content that is to be included needs to be developed.

Creating the site

Here is where all your hard work so far, pays off. Now you will create your sitemap, homepage, create your template pages and implement your content. When you are creating these pages, make sure the folders are set up so information of the same type is grouped together. If you do this while you are creating the site on your computer, it will be much easier to manage after it has been uploaded to your host. Another point to keep in mind is to always allow for expansion. Remember that your site is never completed, but rather an ongoing process of continuous improvements and updates.

Maintaining your site

The content you provide on your site needs to be fresh and up to date. This is done through research and by coming up with new ideas. Some of the ways to spark your creativity is to visit other sites that have the same interests. You can come up with new ways to present your content, different methods of navigation or just a whole new look. Remember that when you are updating or doing an overhaul, to never shut your site down. You should also try to not rename pages because they have already been indexed by search engines. You have worked so hard to get you information recognized by the search engines and if you change the foundation of the site, it will be like starting all over to get your pages ranked. Putting a feedback form on your site also gives you visitors the ability to help by making suggestions of what you could change or include. You need to keep in mind that the site is for them, not you. When it comes to development and content, the best critiques are the people who visit your site on a regular basis.

written by Pat L

By: brad12

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

web design Lancashire-web site design Manchester-web design manchester.

Web Hosting For Wordpress

Web Hosting For Wordpress

As the popularity of weblogs increase so does the demand for efficient content management systems. Blogs as a web site platform have become popular due to their easy to manage interfaces and personalized looks. This system is better defined as a personal publishing platform.

Today, blogs are used for may purposes and not only as a personal publishing tool. Weblogs are being used to promote businesses, services and products. Depending on your blog's theme, you will need a certain set of tool from your hosting company.

Wordpress has two main areas which are referred to as the user or public area and the admin area. The public area is where the final product and information can be accessed and the admin area provides special tools for administration purposes. Just like other CMS blogs can generate pages and posts dynamically to be shown to the visitor upon request (the click action).

The requirements to run this blogging system is not that extensive. The platform is designed to be compatible with most hosting services who offer PHP and MySQL databases. Of course some hosting providers offer improved solutions and alternatives to make webmaster's use of time more efficient.

Following Wordpress installation procedure, the entire platform should be installed and ready to be customized within just 5 minutes after providing the right information available through the hosting administration area but as many will agree, a 10 second installation sure beats a 5 min. one, and that 's exactly what hosting companies are offering to those webmasters and social people who wish to publish their thoughts throughout the world.

When choosing the right hosting provider, bloggers need to take in consideration all the 'specialized features' offered to publishers on this niche platform, blogging. The main factors to consider are: technical support, one click Wordpress installation, Wordpress themes availability through the hosting admin interface, blog optimized servers, blog tutorials, disk space as well as bandwidth.

Since blogs tend to be "viral" in nature, it is always important to constantly check traffic statistics which may change after every post or publication. Wordpress has an automatic ping system which informs social sites that your blog has been updated, thus increasing your readers and subscriptions.

Whether you want to publish your thoughts or promote a product/service, blogs are one of the best CMS tools available to webmasters which will improve the time spent on text formatting and aesthetics through a properly hosted and managed environment.

By: IC

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

HostingCoupons is the best webmaster information source about web hosting. Other choice is going towards the pay-per-click market and signing up with one of the big providers who will pay every publisher per click through or CPM.

There have been intensive discussion as far as the effectiveness and earning potential of pay-per-click campaigns form a publisher's point of view. The fact is that if the traffic source is search engine, and the monetizing method is PPC, the advertiser will most likely loose potential earnings.

Depending on the advertisement type some and web site niche targeting, some offers will convert incredibly well compared to others which will not and can be handled through the PPC model in order to maximize profits.

These concepts can also be applied to hosting affiliate and reseller programs. Hosting affiliate programs work by providing special links with tracking codes which log statistics such as unique IPs, sign ups, etc. Besides the affiliate approach, webmasters can also promote certain hosting companies by acting as resellers. This approach is quite unique, since every webmaster acts as an independent hosting company and is able to create hosting accounts through a web panel interface, which makes users believe you are the service provider.

The main advantage of such programs is that the affiliate gets to keep 100% of the money collected through a merchant account provided by the original host or through a popular Paypal account. This structure has become popular because webmasters can act as hosting companies and earn sizable amounts of money month after month.

This structure is not only great from the 'earnings point of view' but from the knowledge gained by learning the purpose of the many hosting scripts which are used today by many of the top hosting providers, so resellers have a special account management interface to manage several other accounts and install custom scripts with just a mouse click.

Affiliate programs provide compensation after a certain action has been accomplished such as sign up or lead completion. Through a reseller account all earnings go straight to the webmaster's processing account and all the costumer service inquiries are handled by the original company.

So those webmasters and online marketers who have wondered 'just how much money do hosting companies make every month', have now all the tools to realize the same kind of income. This kind of affiliate program has certainly revolutionized the CPA (Cost per Action) industry and increased webmasters income ten fold compared to the good old PPC programs.

By: IC

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

HostingCoupons is the best webhosting provider information source. The main purpose web site owners submit links along with descriptions to web directories is to get their site indexed and crawled as soon as possible, bring traffic, rank for a particular keyword depending on the anchor text chosen and gain valuable page rank.

These last SEO expectation depends greatly on the reputation each page within the web directory has. Some web directories will have an excellent page rank in their home page but the rest of the pages have little or no page rank at all so it is important to keep in mind that 'Page Rank' means just that, it is not a site-wide ranking system.

As webmasters have noticed, a good and clean web directory can gain significant page rank and authority within a short period of time. The main concern a web directory owner needs to take care of is: usability. This part of a web directory design can make a directory or brake it, because most visitors who click and navigate through directories to find what they are looking for, will not stop and try to learn how to use a complex directory. Remember that if you make it complicated, visitors will resort to more practical means such as the main search engines.

Web directory software and scripts have been widely tested to make sure they work in almost any hosting environment. As always the requirement is to have a paid hosting account with either a virtual, dedicated, sharing, VPS, etc. configuration. Free hosting accounts will sometimes work with this type of software 'if and only if' a proper PHP version and MySQL tools are installed, but since this software is often paid, it would be futile to use a free host.

The right Hosting service would have to provide features such as PHP 4.2 or above, MySQL 3.23 or higher and a compatible system such as: FreeBSD, RedHat, Windows 2003 or Fedora.

Once these requirements have been met it is necessary to have full access to an online file manager or FTP program to change certain security settings within the folders, set robot permissions, htaccess configurations (mod rewrite, etc) as well as layout and appearance configurations.

The most popular script used today by thousands of webmasters to create niche and general web directories is phpLD. Another important factor a webmaster needs consider that according to the web site's niche a certain bandwidth allowance must be allocated to this type of sites since sometimes the traffic can take administrators by surprise.

By: IC

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

HostingCoupons offers a great deal of useful information about web hosting, Phplinkdirectory and important webmater issues. From design to HTML/PHP/ASP/JS coding, it is all time consuming which affects our income directly. Designing custom headers, image objects, animations using utilities such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, After Effects, Cold Fusion, are all time intensive tasks indeed.

This is where automation, and powerful management systems come into play. We have all heard the phrase "Content is King", which is in fact true, and it is very unlikely to change. The more useful and niche specific content our web site provides the better our search engine ranking will be, the more visitors and subscribers we will have and the more revenue can be derived from such online ventures.

This all sounds very nice but when the time comes to put that principle into action we face the terrible truth: "It takes a lot of time and effort". Having a web site fully designed and managed through starter tools such as Microsoft Frontpage proves to be a serious disadvantage. To make the argument clear, pay attention to the following scenario:

You realize that constantly updated content brings you more traffic as well as feed subscriptions so you set a certain amount of time to content generation, after several hours of writing you finish the first phase of the project.

The second phase involves creating the web pages for each article and organize a proper link structure within the site so that the new content can be found easily. This involves remaking the home page linking structure, content arrangement and even design. This step will undoubtedly take a lot of time. even if templates are used.

The third stage involves checking that all the articles and links are valid and do not show 404 errors as well as placing the most relevant ad units in the right places. This is also a time consuming task.

The fourth stage involves synchronizing and making sure that all the files in your local drive match those files on your web host.

You now may be thinking "There's got to be an easier way to do all this", and luckily for all of us, there is!. The solution is often referred to as CMS which stands for "Content Management System". Using a proper CMS will cut the time spent doing all of these tedious tasks by more than half ( 66.67% to be precise) because you know don't have to worry about step 2, 3 and 4 but only about step one.

A content management will generate all the pages dynamically, include the right graphics and targeted ad units automatically. One of the most popular CMS is called Joomla. This CMS will require a MySQL database to store all of this information.

The right hosting service will not only help you set this system up but it will also have a one click installation ready for you, which cuts the time and problems involved in manually installing and configuring folder permissions for this useful software. The right hosting solution will provide the necessary support and scripts needed to run this configuration.

The most important tools needed to run Joomla include: PHP 4.2, MySQL 3.23 and Apache 1.3 (or above). Online business becomes more profitable through the use of the right tools along with the best hosting support to help you gain minutes throughout the day.

By: IC

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

HostingCoupons provides more infomation about web hosting and special CMS Joomla Hosting.
