While some people have expressed the belief that all they’ve done is simple pre-vandalize the boxes prior to distribution, I don’t mind the look. And I think it’s an interesting social experiment on how Design can affect function and behavior in public spaces.

This is Mackenzie House, once the home of William Lyon Mackenzie – first mayor of the City of Toronto in 1834. In 1835 he left the Mayor’s office when he was elected to the Parliament of Upper Canada.

Frustrated by political setbacks, Mackenzie became convinced of the necessity of armed resistance in an effort to break Canada away from the ties of Great Britain. Ultimately he led a failed rebellion in 1837 and fled to the United States.

He returned under amnesty in 1850, and was re-elected to Parliament, sitting as a member until 1858.
