In the not-too-distant future, the city of Dubai is wiped off the map by a series of nearly cataclysmic sandstorms. Acting against orders, the 33rd Battalion of the US Army (known as the "Damnded 33rd"), deserted in order to aid with relief and evacuation efforts. Contact with the 33rd was eventually lost after a failed attempt to lead a caravan out of the city, leaving the US government to declare them traitors. Now, six months later, a looped radio signal has finally managed to penetrate the storm walls.
