EPEAT is a comprehensive Green IT product rating system, with a registry of more than 1,000 products and more than 30 participating manufacturers.

Masataka Fujii, General Manager, Environmental Engineering Division at Fujitsu global headquarters in Tokyo, welcomed the expansion, saying: “Fujitsu appreciates and supports the efforts to globalise the EPEAT classification and labelling scheme. In many countries, EPEAT will enable increased transparency on the environmental benefit generated by products that are based on the FUJITSU ‘Green Policy Innovation’.”

Achieving multinational EPEAT certification is an important Green IT milestone for Fujitsu and underlines the company’s focus on product innovation and efficiency. Other firsts have included the 0-Watt standby PC, introduced earlier this year, and Fujitsu’s own pioneering Green IT label, which will remain in use, alongside EPEAT certification.

Let’s kick off with the EasyNote DT85. Its massive 18.4-inch widescreen display is contained in a chassis measuring 440 x 299 x 42mm, putting it in the league of laptops intended to replace your desktop. The 1080p, 16:9 screen is complemented by a Blu-ray player, Dolby sound and HDMI output.

A multitouch pad allows you to scroll, zoom and flick through files with two fingers. To the right of the keyboard is a glossy touch-sensitive multimedia strip, while on the left is a range of smart keys, including PowerSave to boost battery life, MyBackup, touchpad lock and Wi-Fi activation.

PB has followed up the Packard Bell dot m/a with the new dot m/u netbook. Quite what that name means we have no idea. It offers a similar 11.6-inch size with specs borrowed from the laptop end of the market. Options inlcude up to 500GB of storage and up to 4GB of RAM. The 16:9 screen offers high-definition video, with an HDMI port and 5-in-1 card reader included. Bluetooth and 3G are optional.

When Nintendo announced Wii MotionPlus at last year’s E3 2008 press conference, it certainly raised a few eyebrows. First off, we wondered why this technology wasn’t included in the original Wii remote to begin with. With the device debuting so late in the console’s lifespan, would every game be able to take advantage of MotionPlus?

Wii MotionPlus was released back in June, but Nintendo did not have any first-party games available at the time to show off the new technology. Instead, we were left with third-party titles that did. Now that we’re able to get our hands on Wii Sports Resort–the title Nintendo is launching MotionPlus with–we have a much better idea of what it’s like playing with the attachment. It’s tough to make a final judgment on MotionPlus as you’ll have no choice but to use it if you want to play certain games. Instead, all we can do is talk about how it feels and whether or not it does a better motion-sensing job.

Install Ubuntu 8.04 Server

Change root password
sudo passwd root

Add new username
sudo adduser to2k

sudo visudo
Append this line to end of ile
to2k ALL=(ALL) ALL

SSH Configuration
sudo nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config
Find Port 22 and change number to something different (12345) to make hacking more difficult.
Set these to:
PermitRootLogin no
X11Forwarding no
UsePAM no
Append these lines to the very end:
UseDNS no
AllowUsers to2k

Reload SSH

/etc/init.d/ssh reload

Test SSH Login

SSH login to your slice to new port, with your new username and password:
- Linux: ssh -p 12345 to2k@192.168.100.100
- Windows: putty to2k@192.168.100.100

If you logged on successfully via your new username: ‘to2k’ – you may close ‘root’ session now.
