Toupydoops at Comic Con 2010

Lobrau Productions will be back at San Diego Comic-Con this year with a trunk full of Toupydoops stuff, including some exclusives to be announced in a week or so.

We’ll be at Small Press Table M12 this year, along with Shane and Chris Houghton – creators of the excellent Reed Gunther.

Finding the Small Press section is easy. Just face all the really cool shit, then walk in the opposite direction. We’ll be there all week.

Toupydoops is Back! (Kinda)

Hi, my name is Kevin McShane and welcome to the all-new Toupydoops.com. For those of you just hearing about Toupy for the first time, welcome. And for those returning from wondering where the hell we went, welcome back.

It’s been over three years since the last issue of Toupydoops hit the stands. I started the series back in 2005 with the hopes of it becoming a successful independent comic book series. My adventures in indie comic book publishing as the Direct Market closed and the economy collapsed could be the subject of their own book (and just might someday) – but let’s just say my dreams petered out about two years later.

Well, now Toupy is back, online, and free for everyone to read. The goal of this site is to reconnect with the audience I built a few years ago and hopefully pick up some new readers along the way.

Some of you may be wondering, “Does this mean there’s going to be new issues of Toupydoops?” To which I say, “One step at a time, pal.” It took me almost two years to get this site damn up. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.

Once the dust has settled with the new site, the plan is to start serializing Toupy’s previous adventures, starting with Chapter 2, until we’re all caught up. Hopefully by the time Chapter 6 has been posted, I’ll have the time and the means to finish off Chapter 7 and continue from there.

Of course, if you’re impatient, you can always buy The Collected Toupydoops, Vol. 1 – which contains the first five chapters, plus a bunch of bonus material.

Updates will be twice a week. Probably Mondays and Thursdays. Not quite sure yet. Subscribe via RSS and you’ll be fine.

In the meantime, go read Chapter 1. I think the story still holds up (even though most of the art makes me cringe).
