Step Right Up
It’s the eyes that tell you. When you shout into the crowd, daring them to enter a world of marvels, the likes of which they’ve never seen before. Some smile, some scoff, some draw back in what appears, uproariously, to be real horror. But there are a few—a select and wonderful few—whose eyes glimmer with a bright, palpable something, an untamed curiosity, an earnest desire to see and hear and touch and understand. These are the ones who linger in your memories, green and gray, gorgeous shadows of evenings by the sea, the glimmer and creak of wooden skiffs on the warm black water after the Big Top has tumbled and the throngs have dispersed. These are the ones who enter unblinking, meeting your outstretched hand with theirs, without fear, without scorn, without a word.

Carefully blended and infused by me in small batches in vintage green glass wine bottles, this is a clean, oceanic, very unisex fragrance with notes of wood and spice. More than a dozen different scent elements and several days of methodical alchemy make Step Right Up no ordinary scented oil mix—it’s a truly inimitable fragrance.

COMMENTS
Lordy. This perfume is made up of so many smellies, it’s amazing. When I first put this on I smell cloves and smoke and musk, when it settles down it smells of musk and vanilla and there’s a hint of clove. It’s just lovely. I will be procuring a full size solid asap, as I will be wearing this a lot.

Today is Clothing/Product That Evokes a Good Memory. I chose my lotus hair clip that Kelah gave me. It reminds me of her stay with us and how awesome she is.

Badger is a shimmery blackened chocolate with sparks of uncaring honey.
Mushroom is a shimmery coppery-orange with a hint of golden sparkle.
Snake is a bright, lightly shimmery chartreuse.

Ripper
Our tribute to Jack the Ripper smells like a smoky, rainy night in London, with additional notes of rose, tuberose, orchid, peppercorn, leather (like a certain apron), amber, musk, and a hint of grape. It’s fairly unisex, as the florals are not overwhelming.

COMMENTS
Ripper is a lovely floral scent. When I first put it on I smell orchid, amber and musk. Once it settles the rose and amber are heavy. It’s a beautiful fragrance. If you like rose you’ll definitely want this perfume.

You can find Ripper on the Mannaia Fragrances site as perfume oil in a sample vial for $2.50 and a full size perfume oil in a roller ball bottle for $8.

Becca from One Hand Washes The Other is a genius. I’ve recently fallen more in love with my beloved Black Magic soap. I’ve been using it on my face for awhile now. It’s been the only thing that keeps my acne away, even when my moon cycle comes around.

Stolen from the shop:

Tea Tree oil, Peppermint Essential Oil, Grapefruit Essential Oil, Lemongrass Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil, Vitamin E, Glycerin, French Green Clay, and Activated Charcoal. In addition, the soap is made after I HAND INFUSE the base (and then filter it) with heaps and heaps of healing Calendula petals-

-Tea Tree Oil is antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral, fungicide, antiseptic; its believed to heal wounds quicker and protect them from infections, as well as help neutralize the scar marks and after spots left by eruptions, boils, pox, acne etc.

-Peppermint Essential Oil contains Menthol, which gives a cooling effect. It nourishes dull skin and improves oily skin.

-Grapefruit Essential Oil is antioxidant, antiseptic, disinfectant; it’s said it keeps the skin clean and is particularly good for treating oily skin and acne.

-French Green Clay is very absorbent, and literally drinks oils, toxic substances, and impurities from your skin. Its toning action stimulates the skin by bringing fresh blood to damaged skin cells, revitalizing the complexion, and tightening pores.

-Calendula has a long history of use as a wound-healing and skin-soothing botanical. It has impressive healing powers, and can clear up many different types of skin problems.

-Vitamin E helps skin look younger by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

-Activated Charcoal has the ability to attract other substances to its surface and hold them there. This is called “adsorption” (not absorption). Charcoal can adsorb thousands of times its own weight in harmful substances.

-Glycerin aids in preventing breakouts and keeping pores clear. It also can speed healing of present acne lesions. It is not inflammatory and will not irritate skin like many other products with harsh chemical ingredients.

As you can see above I like to cut up my bars. The bar above is a special glycerin free formula that Becca made for me. My skin hasn’t been reacting to glycerin so I have one of her regular bars on its way to me! Anyways. I like to cut it up so it doesn’t get wasted.

I recently discovered that Black Magic makes an excellent shampoo to add to its amazing face wash capabilities. Today while talking with Becca in my makeup group on Facebook I had the idea to use it as tooth soap. I’ve been ordering “tooth chips” on Etsy for awhile now to use in place of regular tooth paste. They taste awful. Black Magic on the other hand tastes much better. It’s slightly sweet. It cleaned my teeth well, didn’t taste awful and there’s nothing in it that will harm you if you ingest a little.

Other ideas I had were to use the cream version of Black Magic and either sprinkle Xylitol on your brush or to simply mix some xylitol in the cream. Xylitol helps rebuild enamel and kills bacteria.

So Black Magic is awesome for: a facial cleanse, shampoo, body was and tooth paste! Is there anything it can’t do?!
