His new car drawing is for a very timely vehicle indeed. He calls it Paul Prius, and it illustrates a hybrid car. A hybrid uses both gasoline and electricity for power. These cars are becoming popular as the public's interest in environmental issues grows.

Why Paul? According to Frankie, it was first to be called Perry Prius, "but since I have Paul McCartney's LIVE 2002 concert coming soon, I changed the name." Sorry Perry, but Sir Paul is one up on you!

Hybrids are clever. They take energy generated by gasoline and braking and store it in large batteries that are under the engine's hood or in the boot. When there is enough energy in the battery, it is used to run the car. This works well at short distances and low speeds. Once the battery runs out of power, and gasoline is used again, the battery is charged again. The whole cycle is controlled by complex computer calculations which enable higher miles per gallons than most regular gasoline cars. According to car owners, one of the nicest things about running on battery power is that the car's engine becomes so quiet.

Thank-you Frankie for sharing such a contemporary and far-sighted vision with our readers.

Keagan's Drawings and Collection

One Chevron Cars collector, Keagan, has been very busy creating two new drawings!

Sandy City Bus

Sandy City Bus is Sally Schoolbus's sister. Sandy does the very important job of transporting people all over the city.

Teddy Trash Truck

Teddy Trash Truck collects all the trash from peoples' homes and takes it to the landfill. Like Sandy City Bus, Teddy has a very important job. If it weren't for Teddy, people would have to dispose of their own trash.

Keagan's Collection

Keagan also submitted a Collection picture! There are 36 cars in Keagan's collection that started with Woody Wagon when Keagan was 2 years old. It was a gift from an uncle. A lot of Collectors received their first Chevron Car as a gift from a relative. Way to go Keagan! Not only do you have an impressive collection, but you are a very talented car designer as well. Keep up the good work!

Petrica sent in this excellent drawing of the Chevron Cars. Petrica is almost seven years old and has loved the Chevron Cars since discovering them in 2006. His little brother, Sandu likes them too. Drawing cars is one of Petrica's favorite things to do. He likes it so much that he hopes to be a car designer some day. That is an admirable goal, Petrica!

Do you enjoy drawing cars as much as Petrica does?

Eric from Kansas City submitted an excellent Car Idea! He created Offroader the Explorer. Offroader criss-crosses the globe looking for new sources of fuel. He specializes in finding alternative fuels to power vehicles of all kinds. Offroader is a true pioneer!

As of 2006, there were over 250 million registered passenger vehicles in the United States. Of those, around 550,000 were alternative fuel vehicles. This means that only .2% of the passenger vehicles in the U.S. run on alternative fuels. We could really use Offroader's help finding fuels that decrease carbon emissions. Thank you Eric for creating such a noble and innovative car!

What fuel do you think Offroader the Explorer should run on?

The latest new car idea comes from a veteran Chevron Cars illustrator, Anthony! This young Chevron Car designer recently submitted a drawing of Anthony Ambulance. Now, he shares his latest creation with us: Penny Pumper!

Penny is a Pumper truck, a great companion to Fuller Fire Truck. Pumper Trucks carry large amounts of water to fires in areas where fire hydrants are not available. Some carry as much as 5,000 gallons of water! Pumper Trucks can pump water out of nearby streams and lakes in rural areas, or carry water to chemical spills on highways. Some Pumper Trucks even help in forest fires.

Anthony, thank you so much for your drawing of Penny Pumper! She and your other drawing, Anthony Ambulance, would be a big help to Fuller Fire Truck in an emergency.

Anthony, a fan of the Chevron Cars, submitted a drawing for a new car. We are very proud to share his drawing of Anthony Ambulance with our many blog readers! Over the years, many people have requested an ambulance Chevron Car and Anthony has drawn a great example for us. He designed the car so the rear doors open to reveal the life-saving equipment ambulances carry. Thank you for such an excellent drawing, Anthony.

Though he would be the only Chevron Cars ambulance, Anthony would not be lonely. There are over 48,384 ground ambulances in the United States operated by over 840,669 Emergency Medical Services personnel.

Anthony Ambulance would also be a good friend for Fuller Fire Truck, Chevron's newest car. Other suggested ambulance names submitted from fans over the years include Aaron, Abby, Allan, Albus, Allie, Amelia, Amber, Amy, Andrea, Andy, Anne, Ashley and Austin. What would you name your ambulance?

They were never sold previously, and are not available at any retail location. Each ornament was individually blown and painted by hand in Europe. The ornaments are produced by Landmark Creations and come in their famous red box. The 2007 edition (top) uses the red icon car, and the 2008 one (bottom) uses a blue car. Each ornament is approximately 4.5 by 4 inches in size (the blue one) and 4 by 4 inches (the red one).

2 New Victor E. Vans Launched

The final two new Victor E. Vans for 2008 have been launched. Victor E. Van Gonzaga University celebrates the Gonzaga Bulldogs Basketball team based in Spokane, Washington. This 100 year-old West Coast Conference college team has reached numerous NCAA Division I basketball tournaments in recent years. The Gonzaga Victor E. Van is available in limited quantities in our online store.

A second Utah Jazz Victor E. Van in honor of the successful professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City has also been released. Unfortunately, as with all professional sports team Victor E. Vans, it is NOT available on our website. However, on the Jazz Victor E. Van page we have a handy station finder which lists the Chevron stations in Utah and Idaho which have ordered the car and may have it in stock. We suggest calling them to check on availability.

Best of all, we look forward to the launch of Fuller Fire Truck, a brand new Chevron Car on November 17th. Fans and collectors have long demanded a fire truck, and we are happy to oblige. Stay tuned for more as the big day approaches!
