Several years ago, I saw this picture of this Doublethink character in fiberglass with white hair by artist Takahiro Komuro . I think it was 3 or 4 foot tall. It was amazing and aside from wanting the original sculpture, I longed for a smaller vinyl version. Luckily Gino from Toy Art Gallery helped make this possible produced the Doublethink vinyl toy. A custom toy show was held at TAG and I was lucky enough to score this version painted by a good friend and amazing artist and toy designer in his own right, Mutant Vinyl Hardcore

Paul Kaiju Gobo King First Edition...!!

The stars were aligned for this one as I won the recent raffle for the first edition Gobo King in black vinyl with metallic paints. Holy smokes is this thing a beast! 12 inches tall, 7 points of articulation and get this: a removable helmet. The details on this guy with the tank treads, chest gatling gun, disc blade, wooden back door and chain are amazing.

Paul Kaiju Domino Jack...!!!

This toy absolutely is one of my all-time favorite toys. For me, this toy has it all. It's a robot with a nod to 70's Popy design. I love the rocket fist and the Giant Robot-esque missile-tipped fingers. This particular version is from DCON 2014 and features clear vinyl painted in my favorite colors with plastic jacks and wires as guts and brains. It's perfection.

It had been several years since PUSHEAD came out with a new toy. When he busted this guy out a couple of years ago completely taking San Diego Comic Con by surprise, I was floored and beyond excited. Both the Astro Zombies Skullwing and Kaws vs Pushead Companion were two of the original toys that got me into this hobby. The details on this new sculpt are unreal and really show off the attention to detail represented in PUSHEAD's art work. This particular version is complete with the new Hevi arms in a marbled translucent orange with turquoise vinyl. Definitely one of my all time favorite toys.

In honor of Vinyl Pulse 10th Anniversary, Itokin Park created these exclusive Space Mode Men in VP signature colors. I was very fortunate and grateful to score this guy. I am a huge fan of Itokin Park and I have never been able to get my hands on these little space men until now. They are smaller than I thought they would be. Just over 3 inches tall which is the perfect size. The clean Play Mobil aesthetic with the futuristic design and camo paint job makes this little guy an instant classic.

MUTANT VINYL HARDCORE X SKINNER KRAWLUSS DOKURO KING EDITION

I've been a fan of Rich Montanari aka Mutant Vinyl Hardcore long before he was making toys. I've also been a fan of Skinner's long before he became a full-time artist. I believe I might have even helped them do their first collaboration together on a run of Ollies back in 2011. Day of the SKINNER. So to see both of them as world class artists doing their thing, making toys and art is just amazing and fulfilling. Both of them are such great guys. Which brings me to this beast. It's a collaboration between MVH and SKINNER called Krawluss. It's actually the first Krawluss I've had the fortunate opportunity to score and it's painted in my favorite homage to Dokuro King. Standing 14" tall with spikes, two heads, a sword, skulls, what is there not to like? Keep up the amazing work Rich and Skinner.

Mitomo Horihiro’s (formally Hiroshi Hirakawa) contemporary representations of the classic world of ukiyo-e speak of the ghosts of an era that, though long past, still resonate deeply today; influencing and inspiring current culture.

As a tattooer, Horihiro is immersed in a space that was and is at the heart of ukiyo-e. In fact it is difficult to mention one without the other. The relation between woodblock carvers, tattooers, painters, kabuki actors, geisha, etc. all intertwined to form the pictures of the floating world.

It could be said then that Horihiro is reflecting the world in which he is immersed, albeit with a lens that is extremely sensitive. He plays with myth in multiple dimensions; displaying a rare ability to transcend centuries within his imagery.

PUSHEAD Presents Hyperstoic 2014 NYC was a once in a lifetime event showcasing some of today's most incredible artists all in one location at Toy Tokyo Underground in NYC. Featuring Usugrow, Lango, Aaron Horkey, Brandon Holt, Wes Benscoter and of course PUSHEAD. This was probably PUSHEAD's most ambitious Hyperstoic in recent memory as the walls were filled with original art, paintings, toys, prints and posters. If you like any of the artists above, it was like a dream come true. There was so much amazing art, it was hard to pick any favorites, but I would have to say the collaboration prints between PUSHEAD and Horkey stole the show.
