– WWE Hall of Famer Drew Carey turns 55-years-old today.

– Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will begin filming the big-budgeted comic-book adaptation/war film Hercules: The Thracian Wars next month. The movie, which is being directed by Bret Ratner, is based on the graphic novel by Steve Moore and Cris Bolsin of the same name and is believed to be a similar account of the wars Hercules participated in.

Johnson revealed last month in an interview with Access Hollywood that he is getting lean for the role, stating, “It is not about getting big as much as it is about having really lean, dense muscle. – Sami Callihan, who WWE has a lot of interest in, is said to be finished with Dragon Gate USA & EVOLVE. The company was planning for his exit for some time, which is why the Johnny Gargano vs. Callihan match was rushed onto the December 2012 EVOLVE event. The match was originally going to headline WrestleCon. Callihan is still technically under contract, but the company will release him if he signs with WWE.

– There’s talk that WWE is closing in on signing at least one other DGUSA/EVOLVE regular.

– It appears as if Caleb Konley will be in for a big push. Gabe Sapolsky saw Konley’s performance at the CZW Best of the Best tournament earlier this week and reportedly has a new interest in him.

At this is time, one of the plans going around is for CM Punk to feud with Brock Lesnar when he returns to WWE TV. According to reports, when Punk returns, Paul Heyman would turn on him to help set up the feud.

The feeling is that with his return, Punk will easily get babyface reactions. Also, the feeling with Lesnar is that he is built for heel run while he is back with WWE. The two could face off as soon as SummerSlam, but could be pushed all the way back to Survivor Series.

Fox News reported the story, along with a history of wrestlers who have a history in football. These include Roman Reigns, who played college football at Georgia Tech. The report mentions that WWE just cut former college and pro football player “Showtime” Percy Watson on Friday because they did not have any ideas for his character. WWE is currently hoping the expansion of their developmental facility in Florida will get it to the level of an NFL training facility and help former NFL players find out if they want to be wrestlers.

Ross tweeted: “We had a great day for WWE and its fans in Washington D.C. NFLPA classy organization. Unlimited potential.”

The biggest problem would be the perception of the WWE by outside media. SI.com covered the story by looking at the history of pro football and pro wrestling crossovers. NFL.com wasn’t as serious as they examined which NFL players had the “characteristics” of a pro wrestler.

A relationship could be years away, but Goodell wants to help former NFL players find work when they leave.

ORIGINAL: Jim Ross spoke to Alex Marvez and Jim Miller on their SiriusXM NFL show Tuesday night. During the appearance, he discussed the fact that WWE could be an avenue for ex-NFL players. With the new WWE Developmental Center opening soon, Ross stated the following about meeting with the NFLPA (National Football League Players Association) …

“Everybody doesn’t make the 53-man roster. Some guys are going to be looking for work, and we’ve got some job openings. Maybe we can put the synergies of those two entities together and create something wonderful some day.”

On her next challenge in wrestling:

“Continuing to raise the bar for myself, to have better matches and do stuff that is fresh in terms of storylines. I think you want to be able to be a part of a story that takes the fans on an emotional roller coaster ride. That’s what made my storyline with Trish Stratus (at WrestleMania 22) so special because once you reach that point people are so enveloped in the storyline itself. It just worked. It’s really hard to get that kind of moment without that beautiful story behind it.”

On the differences of a heel and a babyface:

“It’s been so long since I’ve been a heel (2006) that it’s really hard to judge. You can have a lot of fun playing a bad girl. You do get a chance to say a lot of things that you can’t when you’re a face. It’s a completely different kind of character. The babyface character is kind of close to who I am in real life except the volume is turned up all the way. As a heel you get to make twists and turns that really sell that character so that you can get that genuine kind of heat from people that want to hate you. I really think that some of the best heels are also those people that can really get reactions as babyfaces too. As a babyface you often think about what a heel might do to react to you too so that when you finally turn heel you visualize all that stuff.”

On her match against Velvet Sky for the Knockouts Title this Thursday on TNA Impact Wrestling:

“Because we’ve been partners and worked together so much in the past I feel like we know each other’s stuff so well. It won’t be one of my easiest matches. I’m really hoping she feels up to par to go out there to wrestle because she has a knee injury and she was given the ringpost figure four by Gail Kim last week too.”

On growing up as a fan of the wresting business and helping others:

“I grew up as a wrestling fan. It kills me to watch bad wrestling; I can’t do it. I want to be the best and I watch matches because I want to see what other people are doing to see what’s new and fresh. You have to keep up with what’s hot. If at any point I can help somebody along the way and maybe try to keep them from making the same mistakes that I made along the way then that’s great. I think that’s a cool thing because I had people do that for me.”

On TNA’s Momentum: “TNA has the momentum. We’ve been around for 11 years now. We’re focusing on how wrestling should be and not getting caught up in all the soap opera stuff that goes on with other wrestling shows. Between Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle, Sting and the other top names we’ve got wrestling for us, we’re getting a lot of traction.”

On His Physical Condition: “I had eight back surgeries, both knees and both hips replaced. I had my last knee replacement about 15 weeks ago. Now I’m like the bionic Hogan. I definitely can’t get through an airport without getting patted down. It has just been a time in my life for me to regroup, resurrect, and reinvent the Hulk Hogan character.”

On His Legal Issues: “I can’t really talk about it because there’s legal drama getting ready to go down, but things are definitely moving in the right direction for me, thank God,” Hogan said. “It was a tough time. Nobody expects something to come back to haunt them after six years, but once I had a chance to sit down with my wife and my children and be completely truthful with them, whatever the media said and whoever stabbed me in the back didn’t matter. At the end of the day, I’d say something great has come out of it – my life, and the new people in my life.”

The game is already confirmed to be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 by Take-Two. However, the publisher has not yet confirmed next-gen console versions of the game. The latest report says the game will likely be available for the PS4 and Xbox One, but it will not be released for the Nintendo Wii U.

WWE 2K14 is set for an October 29 release in North America and November 1 in the UK for PS3 and Xbox 360.

On the rumors around her WWE release: “The release … the rumors, they’re just rumors … no matter what I say, I could say it 100 times: no I don’t have a bad attitude … I know for sure that since day one since I started my career I always seek to approach my work as professional as possible. I’ve heard it all. … People close to me, people that work with me can testify to that … my work is everything to me, it’s all I know. I gave up scholarships from school and I was an honor student and I gave up all of it to go on this voyage with complete odds against me … Of course I’m going to approach it with all my heart…I am a very assertive person … in a man’s world they’re not very used to that. … A woman being assertive and not being walked over. … Maybe it came from that, I don’t know.”

On how she was portrayed on Tough Enough: “It was a very hard experience in the sense that a lot of the things that were on TV or things that didn’t make TV that probably should have. … I’m very grateful that opportunity, but I feel, honestly, that it could have portrayed in a little bit more realistic way of how things really happened. … they never showed the diagnosis of my leg, then I ended up looking like a wimp. … Nobody ended up knowing the gravity of the injury to my leg. … I was going to continue … Doctor [had to tell me] that I can’t continue or they have to tear my leg off. … You tell them because I am not going to, because I’ll rip my leg off and then I can’t have a career.”

On her time at WWE Developmental: “It’s really frustrating to hear that [that you're ready to be on television] and then you don’t [get used on television]. … That was mostly the hardest part. … You feel so ready but it’s a whole different ballgame—it’s not just having the skills or the talent or the look. You can have I all but there’s so much more to it there. … We’re all human and sometimes people make mistakes, and people sometimes mix personal with business and you get the backlash of that. It took me a long time to register what happened. … It’s tough.”

On her TNA Gut Check tryout: “Definitely it was a surprise to me as well. … In my head I thought there was no reason for me not to. I felt that Lei D’Tapa was great, too, and she has a lot of potential. At least I thought I was ready now. … They would have benefited from signing us both. … I’m happy for Lei D’Tapa, she’s a great girl, she’s humble. … I’m sure everyone felt like TNA could’ve benefited from both of us. … The whole thing, they were really good at that—at all moments, we never knew. … I had no clue what was going to happen at any moment. … Everyone knows both of these girls should be here. … That was my real reaction, I was just speechless. … When I heard that crowd…I feel like, equally, we both created that with our hard work into the match. … It wasn’t just her! … And then I didn’t even make it to the ring. … I was like “damn, really?” … From wrestlers and fans, it was a big reaction. Here is the latest on Brock Lesnar’s opponent for WrestleMania 30. The Rock was his originally planned opponent, but with Rock bring banged up and uncertain regarding his future, WWE is working on plan B, which is The Undertaker.

While it is not confirmed that The Rock will be back to work WrestleMania 30, he has not ruled it out either. Vince McMahon feels that Rock will be feeling better this fall and agree to work Lesnar.

On Brock Being Beaten Mentally: I think Brock mentally got beat, but I always thought that they didn’t treat Brock right either. I thought they threw him in too soon. He’s fighting guys that had 20 fights in his second fight because he’s so massive and so impressive. It wasn’t fair to him. If he would have got groomed properly, he could’ve been the best fight in any weight class, best pound-for-pound ever.

On Brock’s Diverticulitis: I’m not sure that [the diverticulitis] is everything. I know that’s a big part of it, but what if he was training properly? Would that have even been a factor? I don’t even know. I’m just saying this guy had an opportunity to be great, and I just saw him mentally get dwindled down because he was thrown right into that.
