Low energy? Premature ageing? Aching joints? Answers right here!

If you are suffering these and other symptoms it is likely to be that your body is too acidic.

The type of complaints you may be experiencing if you have even mild acidosis are:

Low energy and fatigue

Kidney stones or other bladder and kidney infections

Diabetes

Weight gain/obesity

Premature aging

Osteoporosis

Aching muscles, joint pain

Our body pH is normally 7.365 and so more alkaline than acidic in nature. To keep this pH maintained, we need to eat more alkaline food than acidic food. Alkaline food will prevent the body from feeling fatigue and stress causing greater vitality and vigor.

Symptoms of illnesses occur when the level of acidity goes lower or higher than this range. An imbalance will affect the effectiveness of your cells and there will be negative effects on your body like heart failures, obesity, weight problems, allergies and many more. Being over acidic weakens your body, making it susceptible to disease.

When your body is in balance it is able to assimilate minerals and nutrients well. You may well be throwing the money you spend on good food and supplements down the drain if your body is out of balance!

When you are acidic the body take minerals from your vital organs and bones to neutralize the acid and remove it from the body. Your body will go to any lengths to maintain your body’s ideal pH of 7.365.

The type of complaints you may be experiencing if you have even mild acidosis are:

Low energy and fatigue

Kidney stones or other bladder and kidney infections

Diabetes

Weight gain/obesity

Premature aging

Osteoporosis

Aching muscles, joint pain

“The countless names of illnesses do not really matter. What does matter is that they all come from the same root cause…too much tissue acid waste in the body!”

Theodore A. Baroody, N.D., D.C., Ph.D.

Cancer, the biggest killer in the USA today, would not take hold in an alkaline environment. There are some alkaline ways that you can reduce your risks from cancer and the other symptoms mentioned above..

Don’t smoke

Exercise 5- 7 times a week, sweat out those acids! Moving your body gets your lymphatic system working.

Dry heat infra red saunas activate the lymphatic system to help get rid of the acidic waste through your skin

A lymphatic massage will help to remove cancerous acids out of the tissues ready to be eliminated though urination

Skin brush every day to open up the pores to allow waste to pass through.

Use Epsom salts in your bath to open the pores and draw out acids.

Drink 3-4liters of water a day. The best water has a pH of 9.5+ and an ORP of -250mV

Most acidic foods are sugar, trans-fats, yeasts, dairy, simple carbs, alcohol, refined foods etc. These acids manifest in our diets as sodas/ fizzy drinks, pizza, chips/fries, cakes, biscuits, microwave meals, crisps, breads, caffeine, cheese, fatty meats, ice cream, smoking, beers, wines, condiments, milky drinks, cream etc. all the foods you already know are not good for you.

I’m sure you can guess that the foods that are alkaline to the body are therefore…wait for it…fresh vegetables, salads, leafy greens, omega oils, nuts, seeds, pulses, whole grains. These are fresh foods, raw foods, whole foods, foods with a high-water content and nutritional value.

Drink chlorophyll rich green drinks every day. Juice green vegetables, add greens powder to your fruit juices or water. You can add lemon and other fruits initially to ease yourself into green juice slowly!

It’s always easier to add things into your diet so try a greens powder first – my favorite Dr Udos’ Beyond Green. I add mine to my morning smoothie and put a spoonful in my drinking water throughout the day. This brand tastes fine in water but not all of them do – so experiment with different brands.

Add in a tomato salad to your lunch or dinner. Or some green leaves and avocado.

Drink 3-4 ounces of cold pressed poly-unsaturated oil like avocado, olive hemp or flax oil each day. (You will normally find these in the chiller cabinet in the health food store)

Get 30 minutes of sunshine every day when the weather allows and also take 50,000 IU of Vitamin D every day

Whilst you are transitioning to being more alkaline, test the alkalinity of your body by using PH strips? Buy here.

Even emotions, stress and a lack of exercise contribute to acidity in the body. Dr Robert Young, an expert on alkalinity has actually seen, in his analysis of live blood, that emotions can have twice as much of an effect on our blood and health as any food can. So you could be eating perfectly healthily but be stressed to the eyeballs and highly acidic and open to disease!

Are you irritable, impatient and moody?

If so, a lack of sleep may be the culprit! A recent survey found that more people are sleeping less than six hours a night, and sleep difficulties visit 75% of us at least a few nights per week. A short-lived bout of insomnia is generally nothing to worry about. The bigger concern is chronic sleep loss, which can contribute to health problems such as weight gain, high blood pressure, and a decrease in the immune system’s power, reports the Harvard Women’s Health Watch.

While more research is needed to explore the links between chronic sleep loss and health, it’s safe to say that sleep is too important to short change.

The Harvard Women’s Health Watch suggests six reasons to get enough sleep:

1. Learning and memory: Sleep helps the brain commit new information to memory through a process called memory consolidation. In studies, people who’d slept after learning a task did better on tests later.

2. Metabolism and weight: Chronic sleep deprivation may cause weight gain by affecting the way our bodies process and store carbohydrates, and by altering levels of hormones that affect our appetite.

3. Safety: Sleep debt contributes to a greater tendency to fall asleep during the daytime. These lapses may cause falls and mistakes such as medical errors, air traffic mishaps, and road accidents.

4. Mood: Sleep loss may result in irritability, impatience, inability to concentrate, and moodiness. Too little sleep can also leave you too tired to do the things you like to do.

5. Cardiovascular health: Serious sleep disorders have been linked to hypertension, increased stress hormone levels, and irregular heartbeat.

6. Disease: Sleep deprivation alters immune function, including the activity of the body’s killer cells. Keeping up with sleep may also help fight cancer.

It is critical to get into a regular sleep pattern. The healing and restorative patterns of sleep are always underestimated!

- Keep your room cooler at night

- Limit TV watching, computer and tablet use before bedtime

- Reduce noise and light where you sleep for at least 30 minutes before you get to bed.

- Sleep in complete darkness

- Go to bed and wake at the same time every night

- Go to sleep around 9/10pm to get the best quality sleep

- Omega 3′s are a critical part of both sleep hygiene and skin health since they are the building blocks of the hormone secreting cells and contribute to neuro- transmitters that help you sleep as well. Most of us have a deficiency in Omega 3 even if your diet is good. Either add in lots of foods with omega 3’s such as Chia seeds, edamame beans, flax, walnuts, kidney beans and salmon or go for a krill oil supplement.

Sweet dreams!

There is a lot of debate about dairy foods and raw milk. There are many passionate people with strong beliefs about whether dairy is a food we should incorporate into our diet at all. So is it good for our bodies? Or is it only pasteurized milk that our bodies can’t cope with? Is raw milk, (a wholefood which pasteurized milk is not) a better option?

Jordan Rubin (http://www.jordanrubin.com/) and Sally Fallon (http://www.westonaprice.org/) strongly support the raw milk argument.

Robert Cohen of www.Notmilk.com, believes that any “Milk is a deadly poison. Each sip contains growth hormones, fat, cholesterol, allergenic proteins, blood, pus, antibiotic, bacteria and virus’ irrespective of where it comes from and how it is treated.” Sounds delightful!

When you think about it, drinking milk is a very odd thing to do. Drinking milk from an animal that is meant to feed its young. How do you feel about drinking breast milk? People think you are crazy if you breastfeed your child past the age of 6 months let alone drink it in adulthood! How about drinking the milk, intended for their young, from any other animal? (With, maybe, the exception of goats and ewes). You would turn your nose up at it!

We have all been told by government health practitioners, and not to mention the advertisements, that milk is good for us, that it builds strong bones and teeth and it is especially good for our children. But T. Colin Campbell in his book ‘The China Study’ says:

‘ Cows milk may cause one of the most devastating diseases that can befall a child.’

Type 1 diabetes is initiated by cow’s milk protein. It is thought that this process occurs when a baby is introduced to cows milk too early in life and it is not fully digested, leaving the incompletely digested milk protein fragments to be absorbed into the blood stream. Unfortunately these fragments look exactly the same as the cells of the pancreas that produces insulin, and the immune system, not knowing the difference, goes about destroying them. The child then loses the ability to produce insulin.

If you look at studies across a number of countries the level of type 1 diabetes is in direct correlation to milk consumption. Genes have a role to play but genes do not act in isolation and the increase in the levels of diabetes is so high that there are obviously other factors involved, namely diet. Added to this, your genes are not written in stone. Recent science suggests that we can control the expression of our genes with the foods we eat, thereby taking greater control over our own health.

In the film, Simply Raw Dr Gabriel Cousens proved that if diabetics stripped out all animal foods and switched to a plant based diet, they can be free of the disease or at least drastically cut their requirement for drugs to manage it – and he did that in just 30 days!

So if you are going to drink milk should it be raw from grass fed cows or pasteurized and homogenised? Or should you switch to kefir (fermented milk), goats milk or soymilk?

Pasteurized and homogenised milk. Regular milk is taken from cows that are likely to have been pumped with antibiotics and growth hormones. The pasteurization kills any beneficial organisms and homogenisation modifies the fats that harm the cardiovascular system when you drink it. There have been studies done on rats that reveal a dramatic contrast between healthy, happy rats fed with unprocessed (raw) milk and anemic, ill-tempered rats fed pasteurized milk. Rat studies also show decline in fertility of those fed heat processed milk.

Soy milk. So much of the soy grown today in genetically modified, they often contain sweeteners of some description and not of much nutritional value. Not really a good choice.

Raw Goats milk has a lot to recommend it. Mike Adams of www.naturalnews.com sums it up well by saying:

‘Goat’s milk is the most highly consumed milk in many other parts of the world and it is delicious as well as extremely nutritious. Goat’s milk has vitamins, minerals, trace elements, electrolytes, enzymes, proteins, and fatty acids that are easily assimilated by the body. It is interesting to note that goat’s milk is digested in 20 minutes; whereas, it can take up to 24 hours to digest cow’s milk.’

Raw cows milk. Over to Mike Adams of www.naturalnews.com again!

‘The nutritional content of raw milk is broad and highly bioavailable. Raw milk is a complete package of proteins, natural carbohydrates, natural fats, vitamins, and minerals complete with the enzymes necessary to completely digest and assimilate all of these valuable nutrients. It is rich in minerals like calcium, magnesium, chloride, zinc, selenium, manganese, iodide, phosphorus and many others. Its range of vitamins includes A, C, D, E, K, B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin and folic acid. All of these vital nutrients remain intact only when milk is raw.’

Fermented raw milk (kefir) This repopulates the digestive tract with good organisms. If you have got digestive problems it could be that you are depleted of digestive enzymes. Kefir will replenish your enzymes and help you to digest you food better. You can make this at home. You can buy the starter needed on line.

I do hope that this article has given you food for thought. If you have any further questions or digestive problems, just give me a call or send me an email.

My milk of choice is almond milk, which I make myself in the blender.

What’s your favorite milk?

Act now to avoid wrinkles!

Reduce your wrinkles and increase your energy EASILY!!
I know what it’s like – you not only WANT more energy but you NEED more energy to get everything done everyday. And you know that your sweet tooth is probably having an effect on your waistline. Ohh, and yes it makes your face saggy and wrinkled!

A lifetime of overeating sugar can make your skin dull and wrinkled AND it saps your energy. If you are anything like my clients and me you certainly do not want to accelerate the process of ageing!

Most vulnerable to damage are collagen and elastin, the protein fibres that keep your skin firm and elastic. In fact, collagen is the most prevalent protein in the body. Once damaged, springy and resilient collagen and elastin become dry and brittle, leading to wrinkles and sagging. These aging effects start at about age 35 and increase rapidly after that, according to a study published in the British Journal of Dermatology. People with diabetes often show early signs of skin ageing.

Your body’s natural antioxidant enzymes will also be deactivated, leaving you more vulnerable to sun damage that is still the main cause of skin aging.

However, you will be glad to hear that it’s never too late to turn back the clock.

To keep your skin looking great, heed these simple 12 tips……………..

Cut back on all sugar products including fruit.

Watch for hidden sugars – barley malt, corn syrup, dextrose, fruit juice concentrate, maltose, maple syrup, molasses. When looking at packets roughly 4g of sugar equates to 1 teaspoon of sugar.

Supplement your diet with 1mg+ of B1 and B6

Eat foods rich in Vitamin C

Exercise daily to build collagen

Give up smoking and cut your alcohol consumption.

Eat plenty of foods high in antioxidants like fruits, nuts and vegetables to keep sugar from attaching to proteins and doing damage. Red peppers, tomatoes and beetroot are good.

Get plenty of beauty sleep. This helps produce human growth hormones which in turn builds collagen. Try to sleep by 10/11pm at night.

Always use a sunscreen or better still stay out of the sun. If you chose the sunscreen route use a natural one without chemicals . Check out Environmental Working Group’s annual Sunscreen Guide

If you add fermented foods into your diet you will find that you lose the desire and cravings for sweet foods.

If you do want to sweeten your foods then use a product like stevia that is a sweet herb nearly 300 times sweeter than sugar. It is great because it doesn’t have any calories and you not get any hike in your blood sugar levels when you ingest it. Raw honey is also a favorite of mine. Find the real thing at road stalls and your local wholefoods shop.

Use good skin care products such as Juliette Scarfe’s Bareskin Beauty brand, which are organic, raw, and vegan. Good enough to eat. Try the Papaya and Honey Resurfacing Balm http://bit.ly/15u2uIT and the Elemi Overnight Repair Crème http://bit.ly/Vwjb4t both of which are favourites of mine. You will not be disappointed with any of her products – even my teenagers use them!

Chocolate is a food that so many women crave and that includes me!
The ‘cleaner’ you eat the less likely you are to crave sugar and chocolate so look at ways to add in more vegetable, salad and fruit to your diet.

Everyone deserves a treat now and again – In fact, I was caught by Mrs Baker at the local Farmers Market in Bath last Saturday buying some lovely homemade macaroons! (I always have a treat on Saturday nights!)

This is a great recipe that is very simple to make. Find the ingredients at your local wholefoods store. The chocolate moulds can be found in a kitchenware shop. (I like the bendy ones as its easier to get the chocolates out.)

This recipe will take you minutes to make! It’s so healthy but so delicious.

Raw Chocolate and Almond Truffles

40g raw organic cacao powder
100g raw organic cacao butter
20g coconut palm sugar or equivalent of Stevia (You can use powder or drops)
150g ground almonds/almond flour
Couple of grinds of Himalayan Salt

Melt the cacao butter in a bowl over a pan of hot water

Sieve cacao powder

Add all ingredients to the cacao butter and mix well

Spoon into chocolate moulds

Refrigerate for a couple of hours

Remove from moulds

Enjoy!

You can ring the changes by adding a couple of drops of essential oil, for example peppermint, ginger, lavender

You could also substitute the almonds for mesquite powder, which is a super food high in mineral and tastes chocolately/spicey.

I sometimes add raspberries that I have liquidized. Yum!

Enjoy!

What are your favorite ingredients that you would like to see in a recipe from me?

Are you always looking for quick, simple meals
that are nutritious and delicious?

I know I am and certainly my clients are too!
I always try to eat foods that give you energy
rather than sap it! With plenty of energy you
feel that you can conquer the world.
When you have limitless energy you can go
after exactly what you want in life to bring
a wealth and richness to your life that most
people only dream of ……

Mushroom and Noodle Soup

This should take about 15 minutes to make and
about 15 minutes to cook, depending how quick you are!

Serves 4

2 tablespoons miso paste
3 tablespoons tamari or reduced salt soy sauce
1.5 liters water
500g mixed mushrooms such as chestnut, button and wild mushrooms
such as shitake or oyster, thinly sliced
175g mange tout or snow peas, sliced lengthways
6 spring onions, thinly sliced
2 sheets of nori seaweed cut into small pieces
250g noodles – udon or rice noodles or anything that you like to eat

Cook the noodles according to the instructions on the pack. If they are ready before you have finished the soup, drain and turn them over gently with some olive or sesame seed oil.

Put the water in a large pan, add the miso and soy/tamari and bring to the boil.

Turn the heat to low, add the mushrooms and simmer for 5 minutes

Add the mange tout/snow peas, seaweed and spring onions and turn off the heat. You want these ingredients to have some crunch.

Divide the noodles between some warm bowls and ladle in the soup.

Eat immediately!

You can add more noodles, sprinkle over some coriander or parsley. You can add some peas or edamame (soy) beans – just ring the changes and use whatever you have in the fridge – within reason of course!!

Enjoy!

What are your favorite ingredients that you would
like to see in a recipe from me?

Where do you struggle when it comes to eating healthily?
Let me know and I will help out.

I know you have a lot going on in your life and either you can’t, or don’t wish to, reduce the load at the moment. However, you can only keep all those balls in the air if you take care of yourself. Now I can hear you saying ‘that’s all well and good but I have no extra time for that!

Well, I have the same problem and what I have realised is that there are many things you can do which take NO extra time or very little time. Also a good point to bear in mind is that if you give up some time to manage and release the stress it does in fact give you EXTRA time. This is simply because you have more energy and you are quicker and more alert mentally. You can prioritize things on your ‘to do’ list but if you don’t put yourself at the top of the list, then you compromise everything else in your life – including your life!

Tony Robbins always talks about NET time. Which stands for No Extra Time meaning that there are things you can do while you are doing something else – like that idea??! Come on, if you are female then you are used to multi tasking!

Now I don’t want to scare you but stress is linked to the six leading causes of death too: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, liver cirrhosis, and suicide.

Stress saps our energy and compromises our immune systems. So what can you do about it?

Breathe

Ok, that might seem a bit basic but many of us do not breathe properly!

Shallow breathing (or chest breathing) causes a constriction of the chest and lung tissue over time, decreasing oxygen flow and delivery to your tissues. However, deep, rhythmic breathing expands the diaphragm muscle, invoking the relaxation response, and massaging the lymphatic system. Sound good?

I have put a link to a video below which explains how to breathe from your belly rather than your chest. Do you remember watching your baby sleeping and how their belly would rise and fall? Well that is the basic principle. As grown women we have been so used to holding in our tummy that it feels very odd to be pushing it out!

Quick Action:

Check out the video and swap your shallow breathing for more deep breathing. To get into the habit attach this new habit to an existing habit like, for example, preparing food. Put a note on the kitchen wall to remind you to breathe. Then 2- 3 times a day you will spend a minimum of 10 minutes energizing your body. Watch how great you feel!

If you can do some breathing outdoors that is even better!

Meditation

Meditation is an excellent habit for every aspect of your life. It allows you to experience a sense of inner peace and relaxation that feels wonderful.

When our distracting thoughts are calmed through concentrating on the breath, our mind becomes unusually lucid and clear. This state normally will stay with you for a while afterwards.

When our mind becomes still, a deep happiness and contentment naturally arises from within. This feeling helps us to cope with the stress of daily life.

Just by meditating for ten or fifteen minutes each day, you will be able to reduce stress and sometimes you find that usual problems will fall away. Difficult situations will become easier to deal with, you will naturally feel warm and well disposed towards other people, and your relationships with others will gradually improve.

These days, it’s clear that meditation is beneficial on many levels.
It lowers stress, helps you to relax, and has been shown to have numerous other beneficial effects both psychological and physical.

Quick Action:

If you can manage it, spend 15 minutes when you get up and before the rest of the house awakes sitting in a chair, eyes closed and concentrate on your breathing. If you find this difficult, then look around for some guided meditation CD’s or downloads. See link below.

To lower stress during the day just 5-7 minutes just sitting at your desk concentrating on your breathing and nothing else relaxes you enough to refocus calmly on the tasks in hand.

Sleep

This is SOooo relevant for me! There is always so much to get done that it seems like such a good idea to stay up late to knock just a few more things off my list BUT I always regret it the next morning. I am NEVER at my best the next day.

For lower stress levels you need to get enough good quality sleep.

Sleep is too important to short change. It contributes to health problems such as weight gain, high blood pressure, and a decrease in the immune system’s power. And being sick is stressful.

Serious sleep disorders have been linked to hypertension, increased stress hormone levels, and irregular heartbeat.

Lets face it, even at a basic level, if we are sleep deprived it is stressful because we cannot function at our best and get the things done in the day that we need to do.

Quick Action:

Always turn off the light by 10.30/11pm and get up at the same time each day, even at the weekends. Consistency is key for sleeping well.

Eat before 7pm so that your body has finished digesting your meal before you go to bed. This will ensure you get better nights sleep.

Don’t take the laptop, phone or tablet to bed with you and avoid the TV one hour before bedtime.

Stabilize your blood sugar by avoiding or reducing sugar/carbohydrate levels during the day and especially in the evening.

Exercise whenever you can during the day and it will help you achieve a more rejuvenating sleep as well as reduce stress and anxiety.

Sleep in a totally dark room and reduce the levels of light around you at least 30 minutes before bedtime.

Diet

We all know that diet affects every part of our lives so here are a few tips on using food to reduce your stress levels.

Quick Action:

Crowd out the junk food with healthy fresh foods such as raw veg and fruit, seeds and nuts.

Don’t overeat.

Look at using a supplement such as marine phytoplankton which is very supportive in high stress environments and if you are lacking sleep.

Up your omega 3 levels with salmon, edamame beans, wild rice, walnuts, flax and chia seeds or flax oil.

Use good carbs such as quinoa, sweet potato, lentils.

Eat your GREENS! Salad leaves, spinach, kale, broccoli – the darker the color the better for you.

Some other stress busting ideas…

Go to a yoga class or do it at home

Have a warm bath with candles or light a scented candle at your desk

Listen to relaxing music in the car, on your iPod, at your desk

Connect with nature – a short walk after lunch for example

Use the visualization technique which you can do anywhere. Simply close your eyes and think about your favorite place and walk around noticing everything – smells, colors, what you can hear and feel and then repeat a phrase like ‘ I am at perfect peace’.

Finally,
Ask yourself three questions………

What makes me stressed in my life?

Why do I find that stressful?

How can I avoid or reduce the stress?

Thinking these three questions through allows you to evaluate and you will find that ideas for improvement come to you. If there is no way of avoiding some of the stressors in your life then try to accept them and ‘flip’ them. By flipping I mean looking at the situation in a different, more positive, way. This will reduce the stress levels associated with the stressor.

Most of us are not very good at loving ourselves; we look to others to love us to make us feel good. But this route is not ideal least of all because when the other person is not around you will feel deflated and unloved and that can have a very negative effect on the whole of your life.

If you are alone this Valentines Day you can start the process of developing love for yourself and cherish the person you are. Spend some time nurturing and loving yourself and once you get into the habit of doing this you will learn to love yourself, like yourself and have great respect for yourself. How great will that feel?

Consider ways in which you can develop your mind, body and spirit and care for every aspect of yourself. Once self-love develops the rest of your life falls into place. You attract great people into your life, great things happen to you. You can never outperform your own self-image so make sure it’s a great image you have of yourself and see the rest of your life soar!

Now let’s look at some simple ways to nurture yourself!

Get some quality sleep. Get to sleep before 11pm at the latest, don’t eat after 7pm, sleep in a completely, dark room, make sure the room is ventilated. Everything looks so much better when you are well rested and it will give you the energy to love your self even more!

Drink plenty of pure water – spring water if you can. Again, this will feel you look and feel amazing and give you energy.

Smile as much as possible. Believe it or not your mind does not know the difference between pretending to be happy and actually being happy. So just by smiling, you will feel better about yourself.

Write up some positive affirmations about yourself and every morning read them out loud with feeling to yourself while looking in the mirror. For example, ‘I am amazing’, ‘I freaking rock!” Everything in life works out for me’, ‘I am so easy to love’.

Dance and sing! I do this when I am cooking dinner at night. (The children think I am weird!) It certainly puts you in the right frame of mind.

Block some time out just for yourself every week. Do exactly what you WANT to do NOT what you think you should do. That is a lot harder than it sounds. Sit down and make a list of what you love to do and schedule it in. As Tony Robbins says, ‘Stop shoulding all over yourself.’!

Pat yourself on the back everyday. Most of us do not celebrate and congratulate ourselves on a job well done or something achieved. We all do things every day that deserve a self administered pat on the back – even if it’s getting dinner on the table or getting through the day successfully!

Be a human being and not a human doing! Aren’t we so good at doing that we neglect to just BE! Take an hour or 2 just to sit with yourself and connect with your inner voices. What you learn will surprise you!

Love your body. Accept it exactly the way it is – you are beautiful just the way you are. Nourish it with good, clean, unprocessed foods focused on vegetables and fruit, nuts, seeds etc. If you would like some healthy recipes email me and I will send you some. Or look at my website recipe page, http://traceyburnett.com/recipes

Every day make a list of things that you are grateful for in your life. I make my list last thing at night. Not only will you feel better, you will attract more of what you want in life rather than more of what you don’t want.

Do a kind thing for someone. They will appreciate it and you will be amazed how good it makes you feel about yourself. A win/win situation.

Take time to relax. Have a warm bath, light a candle or two, use some chemical free soaps and lotions.

I really hope this helps you take the first steps to loving yourself. Even if you do have someone to spend Valentines Day with most of us could still do with cherishing ourselves just that bit more. Not only will you feel great about yourself, you will enhance the relationship you already have. Now that’s a good thing I sure you will agree!

I would love to know what your favorite nurturing tip is. Post below and let me know.

I believe everyone should learn reiki, because when it comes to nurturing your Body, Mind or Spirit, Reiki healing is the winner, hands down! All reiki healing requires of you is that you lie back and relax, while a reiki therapist lays their healing hands on you and makes pain and stress disappear.

Sound too easy? The beauty of reiki is that it really is that simple, and that profound! Reiki healing has had such a positive influence in my life, I wanted to share a bit about it with you!

The name says it all. Reiki (pronounced ‘ray – key’) comes from the Japanese words rei, meaning universal, and ki, the energy flowing through all living things.

Accessing this ‘ray’ is ‘key’ to healing. Life force flows through your body, through your chakras and meridians and around you through our aura, nourishing your organs and cells. It responds to your thoughts and feelings, and is disrupted whenever you have conscious or subconscious negative thoughts or feelings about yourself. Stress and other negative thoughts and feelings attach to your energy field, disrupting the natural flow. This reduces your organ and cellular function. When you learn reiki, you can release this destructive energy.

What it is
As you Learn Reiki you’ll discover that life force energy has a source that can be contacted and tapped into, and that you can easily learn to use it. There are always positive results, though not always the ones you expect! For example, you may see a reiki practitioner for a sore foot, and find that a sinus condition also clears up!

What it Does
Reiki energy healing corrects imbalances, helping your mind and body return to their own perfection. It finds its way to the areas of your body that need it most, bringing body, mind and soul into harmony by balancing organs and glands, releasing repressed emotions, and promoting natural self-healing. Physically the energy promotes balance, letting your body heal itself. This makes ordinary ups and downs more manageable, stress easier to handle, and learning easier.

Reiki also encourages spiritual growth by increasing your ability to meditate or pray, so you can access your inner guidance. It’s widely regarded as a stress reducer and a preventative treatment that strengthens the immune system and relieves pain. In addition to treating physical ailments, it helps with deep emotional and mental problems such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. It also helps calm children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).

When you learn reiki you can treat many conditions, from arthritis to whiplash and virtually everything in between. Reiki can balance your chakras and dissolve energy blockages, releasing potential abilities.

To book an healing reiki treatment with me, or to book an in person or distant training session, please click this link.

By Julia Neiman

If you aren’t already living your dream life, then you probably have job related stress that you are coping with, or stress from being unemployed. I have experienced both of those. Stress can take an enormous toll on our health. In my case, it made my blood pressure hit the roof more than once to the point where I had to be medicated. I had many headaches, indigestion and gained a lot of weight. I’ve since followed my dream and have eliminated most of the stress in my life. I am no longer taking medication for the blood pressure, hardly ever have a headache anymore and I am almost always happy.

Have you thought that maybe having your own business, being your own boss, might be a way to eliminate a major source of stress? I’m offering you this excerpt from my new book, 31 Powerful Lessons: Empowering Teens and Young Adults to Develop an Entrepreneur Mindset. I’m offering this as encouragement to consider starting your own business or to encourage your children to think about becoming an entrepreneur.

While it was designed for adults to mentor the teens and young adults in their life, this book has information and knowledge for people of all ages to benefit from. I hope you find it useful.

Excerpt from the book: 31 Powerful Lessons: Empowering Teens and Young Adults to Develop an Entrepreneur Mindset

Lesson 5: Finding Motivation

This lesson is an exercise in finding motivation to move forward to create your dream life by building a business based on your passions. This will allow you to create a lifestyle, which is living life on your own terms, as opposed to a workstyle which makes you accountable to a boss with a schedule, a lot of rules and restrictions and a fixed income

The benefits of a lifestyle are many. Let’s take a look at nine of them and see if you can come up with any others.

The greatest benefit of having a lifestyle is that it gives you the freedom to do several things.

1: focus on what is most important to you. Typically, people with a workstyle have jumbled lives. A jumbled life leads to self-abuse and lots of stress. People with cluttered lives normally have disorganized minds. Chaos in thinking leads to burnout and eventually can lead to self-destruction and illness. Who do you know that has a cluttered life? Is it you? Someone in your family?

Your goal is to create a simple lifestyle. The acronym KISS can help you remember. It stands for Keep It Simple Stupid (no offense meant). A simple life gives you:

2: freedom of time. Figure out how much time you actually spend on things and compare it to the time you want to spend on things. Can you find a way to simplify the things you do to create more time?

3: more energy. A simple life gives you the time to focus on your purpose, gain clarity, and to get the results you desire. A simple life also leads to:

4: balance and harmony. It gives you the time not only to create financial freedom, which is the fifth benefit of a lifestyle.

5: financial freedom provides the opportunity to focus on the sixth benefit which is:

6: happiness and health. If you have money, you can focus on having fun, eating in great restaurants, having the equipment and tools you need related to any sport, hobby or recreation you love and so much more.

A simple life allows you to focus on:

7: fulfilling work. Doing work that you love that also helps others benefits you in ways that speak to your heart and soul and makes you very happy and satisfied. It also gives you time to create the eighth benefit:

8: positive habits. This includes eating well, exercising, and having more fun. It also gives you the time and resources for:

9: giving back: to your family, friends, community, and the world. Can you imagine starting a successful business that creates enough wealth to be able to hire family members, friends, neighbors and others to help them have a better life? You can become one of the real job creators. You can donate money to your favorite charity or help your community improve.

As you think of all of these benefits of simplifying your life so you can live a lifestyle, can you think of any other advantages you would like to add to the list? Let your imagination free here.
