Making alterations or installing custom equipment may result in you being charged for the cost of repairs to undo the alterations. In certain circumstances the lease company may authorise the repaint of a vehicle (i.e. major scratches etc) but approval must always be sought from the leasing company before any work is carried out.

Do I have ownership of a vehicle I have leased?

In most cases, you do not have legal ownership of a leased vehicle; certain lease agreements may have the option for you to buy it at the end of the contract period. When a lease agreement is approaching its end the leasee will be able to obtain a price to purchase the vehicle, this price is often more competitive than the trade rate.

Is it a must to pay a down payment on a lease?

No. You are not obliged to pay a down payment when leasing a vehicle. However, making a down payment reduces your monthly payments. Initial down payments also reduce the cost of early termination in case you decide to terminate the lease at an earlier date.
