The script uses modified `pytracklr` Python module written by Andrew Turner (zxombie).

I pushed the code onto my bitbucket.org account. It's released under BSD Open Source license.

We have announced it over at Twitter.

Let's have a brief look at what the new release brings to our users and discuss the near future of our product.

We have spent huge amount of time since November last year to apply many requested changes to the design, user interface and the general look and feel of the website.

I need to clarify what does it mean when we say huge amount of changes. It does not mean you are looking at the brand new Tracklr that is completely different to its previous version. Tracklr stays untouched in its core and always will provide its users the same core feature set that was initially crafted back in 2007. We are not fans of drastic changes that completely change user's experience. We believe in our philosophy that drives us to provide you with an easy to use real-time time tracking experience.

Apart from what you can see right now here at tracklr.com, we have done a lot of work on commercial parts of Tracklr that are still hidden under the hoods and are now ready for private beta testing phase.

The testing of the commercial version of Tracklr starts this week. Couple of selected small businesses are given access to the brand new functionality for testing.

In the near future you can expect another major release that will enable the commercial part of Tracklr and allow any small business to trial and evaluate our product.

Some of the new commercial features are:

REST API - read and write API with OAuth authentication

Invoicing - Integration with 3rd party invoicing applications

Project Management - Integration with 3rd party project management applications

Please get in touch with us if you are user of Tracklr and you would like to participate in the private beta testing phase.

Couple of words on state of blogging here at Tracklr. To be honest, there wasn't much to write about in the last six month due to our heavy focus on the development of our commercial product. However, this will change now during the beta testing phase. You can expect information about new features, updates, and other general information as well as notes from our "lab" that will provide useful information to any web developers interested in further integration with Tracklr.

Stay tuned for more real-time time tracking goodness,
Marek and the tracklr team

New edition for Small and Medium Businesses

Before we officially announced Tracklr at the beginning of October, we decided to narrow down the functionality to a single-user edition. The reason behind this was quite simple: we didn't have a multi-user edition ready at that time.

Introducing Tracklr for SMBs

We spent the last two weeks working hard on the last bits and pieces of functionality for the multi-user edition. We finished and
released it on Monday October 27th, 2008. Let's have a look at what the new edition of Tracklr can do for you and your business.

Invite other company members

As a company manager (the one who created a company at Tracklr) you are now able to invite 19 other members of your company. It's very easy. Use the company member's email to send out an invite.

A company can have a maximum of 20 members. This number is roughly based on a statistic related to Small and Medium Businesses here in New Zealand.

A company members page provides useful information about what you and your other company members are working on.

Flows

We are introducing a "flow" system which gets you connected with other company members and allows you to share notes and ideas about your company, client(s) and project(s).

User's manual

A new User's manual is now available for all logged in users. It contains information about all of the core parts of Tracklr.

You have to be logged in to be able to see User's manual in the help section.

Information about the new multi-user functionality is available in the manual, too.

We hope you will enjoy the new edition of Tracklr just as we do!

Tracklr Team

Fortnight Summary

It's been two weeks since we announced Tracklr. Here is a summary of what's the latest and what kept us busy during the time since the announcement.

Shortly after the announcement, few little bugs in our OpenID implementation were found and fixed. If you are following Tracklr on Twitter, you may already know that we fixed them within few hours.

Speaking of Twitter. We added Tracklr's Twitter timeline to our blog and also to the letin page. There is also the latest tweet available at the bottom of the page above the site's footer.

Reports were improved, providing more output data. We added export of a report in CSV format.

Due to a hardware failure we had an unscheduled outage on October 13th. Tracklr was throwing a lot of 500 errors during that period. The problem was quickly fixed by our hosting provider so we were up and running again within 30 minutes.

Today we released a new version that introduces improved user interface. The main change is new menu system which simplifies the previous version. This version also brings fixed photo uploads in your profile. They are going to be handy soon.

Tracklr got covered at the CloudAve.com and added to the MyOpenID.com's OpenID Site Directory!

Thank you for all the feedback! Keep it coming!

The Tracklr Team

Announcing Tracklr

We are happy to announce Tracklr - lightweight time tracker service.

This is the first public release of the service. We consider this release, a "beta" release.

Tracklr allows individuals ( sole traders, one-man-show companies, individual contractors, web workers, lawyers, etc. ) to set up a company and then add their clients, projects and tasks and track time spent on those accurately.

Try it yourself, it's easy!

Start using Tracklr in three simple steps.

Let yourself in.

Set things up.

Start tracking your time.

Here is how to do the previous in detail.

Read our Terms of Service and if you agree with them let youself in by providing either your email address or your OpenID.

If you use an email address, an authentication code will be delivered to that address. You may want to add support@tracklr.com to your email contacts to make sure emails from us are delivered to your account.

Once in, you can update your profile information, add your company, client(s), project(s) and task(s).

You're done! You can start tracking your time spent on your tasks.

Tracklr provides you with easy reports so you know exactly what you have done at any time.

Enjoy our service!
